Mount the S3 to your car, create a tasker profile to launch the app when it receives power (or connects to your stereo, etc.) And you get a wireless obd display =D I have this set up in my truck and I love it =)
Btw thanks for the reminder that this sub exists lol
I've tried the free versions of DashCommand and inCarDoc and then bought both.
I've heard Car Scanner is great too. Give all of them a go and then buy you like the most.
DashCommand and Torque are phone apps. You need a hardware device to plug into the port on your vehicle, and it connects to the phone app via bluetooth. The devices are like this. You can find them under $10.
buy one of those OBD2 bluetooth adapters and put the old phone (bonus points if you fiberglass it into a crevice) and have a slick gauge pack for things like oil temp, air fuel ratio, real time gas mileage, exhaust temp, etc... dashcommand is a great app for this and has some really slick skins to make it look good.
this guy did a tablet with dashcommand along with a lexus LFA gauge pack.
the BT adapters start @ $20, but i feel the plx kiwi bluetooth adapter @ $70 is worth the extra $ for the faster refresh rates, extension cable allowing you to tuck the module away so it's not hanging out the dash, and a power switch so you can turn it off easily since the cheap $20 ones stay on draining the battery if left plugged in.
Dash Command is better than Torque in my opinion.
Dashcommand has some decent looking user built gauges.
