非root用だと、adguard(無料版はブラウザだけ広告削除)やFilterProxy、firefox mobileにアドオンでAdblock Plus、これくらいかな。
I (android) use filter proxy (supports english) and when I see ads I check the log and block whichever url looks like an adserving site
Ad block plus gave me issues while going to https sites
トークンの取得に失敗ってのとネットワークエラー俺も出た。FilterProxyを起動してると出た。終了すると認証でコケなくなった
Line
I've tried to save data in the past, but in the end it wasn't much worth it, so I decided to just let things be. Anyways, what I did was to check several proxy apps that could run on a "normal" (un-rooted) android. The only app that worked well on my unrooted phone was one called FilterProxy. I set it up so that it would block the download of portal images - just like that post says, only FilterProxy really doesn't need a rooted phone to run.
This resulted in some economy in bandwidth, but in the end not all apps would work well under the proxy (most importantly a GPS-improving app), and not seeing the portal images made the game less fun, so I uninstalled the proxy app.
By my experience, while you're moving around Ingress keeps downloading data for your area (and by "area" I mean something broad, not just the picture you have on your phone) so if you move a lot, i.e. cargressing, then you're bound to download lots of data. In this sense the best data-saving option is to open Ingress when you're on wifi, let it download the data for your area, then you're free to move a bit around. Yes, I realize that this is often impractical.
This also means that if you're looking at a remote portal via the key, and you get to the point where it shows you the remote area with portals etc, that's downloading some good data... so best avoid it when unnecessary.
Anyways, I ended up just managing my Ingress addiction to avoid passing my data cap, and left it download what it wanted to best enjoy when I play.
Curiosity: in Strasbourg many public squares have free wifi, and tons of portals. I've been there for a few days and couldn't believe my eyes. And they're beautiful portals too, I kept some keys out of how awesome the pictures are.
