Ah, I'm sorry, I see the confusion. I'm not asking for the same sort of widget that NetBender was requesting. I'm more interested in a homescreen widget that displays lyrics on my homescreen itself instead of having to open the app. Flippr is just a quick way to access such widgets (Play link).
Hope that makes sense :-)
Flippr* - Adds a little persistent draw-over tab you can expand and throw widgets into for quick access. For me, that's just my Spotify controls and a webcam (tinyCam) preview.
Twilight* - Basically f.lux for Android.
^(*For Twilight and Flippr, you'll need to pause these if another app needs to request system permissions because they draw on top of the screen. Android doesn't tell you which app it is, so if you get the warning message, it'll be these two.)
Memrise - I use it for expanding my Japanese vocabulary, but you can use it for a lot of other things you need to memorise. Duolingo didn't (doesn't?) have Japanese support, hence the alternative.
Fing - Like a lot of you, I'm a techie and like to figure out what other devices are on the network I'm on (and sometimes do a very basic port scan).
Sleep as Android - Sleep tracker. Has built-in support for Android Wear, and NFC support. I'm horrible at waking up, so my phone alarm goes off, my watch vibrates, and I can't shut them off without physically getting up and scanning an NFC card in my living room. Also, stats. (Also makes Twilight)
Sync - My preferred Reddit reader. I really miss the sync comments feature. I used to offline sync and have a flight's worth of Reddit to keep me occupied. Anyone know of an alternative app that can do that now? Kind of hard to browse subs like /r/AskReddit where the content is really in the comments. Anyway, I like the interface, but I'd be willing to pay for offline syncing of comments.
Apologies to iOS users for the lack of links. I don't have an Apple device.
flippr is nice app if you like widgets but hate that they take up space when you're not using them, or that it takes multiple swipes getting to the one you want. It places a bubble on the side of your screen, then you move your finger to change widgets or folders.
For a nice Slack alternative, I love Fleep. It does most of what Slack does, and somethings better. You can even use it with a person who doesn't have a Fleep account.
If you have a website, Tawk.to is a nice 100% free live chat solution. Install the plugin on Wordpress, or insert the code to any site, and you're good to go.
Those are a couple that first come to mind :)
