"Lack of Mobile Presence".
Um, hullo? Google+ App on Google Play Store. Google+ App for iOS, iTunes store.
Idiotic article is idiotic.
While some folks despise it, location sharing is built into the Google+ app.
Google+ help article on friend locations
Google+ on the Play store
Absolutely no way. People are constantly talking about WhatsApp all over the world yet I barely hear about Hangouts outside of the Android enthusiast echo chamber.
> Out of the Billions of Gmail accounts
Accounts don't equal individual people, and they certainly don't equal monthly active users.
and it only recently (1 year ago) passed the 1 billion club in the first place
and I can say the same thing about Google+. The social network that people say has failed and is a ghost town
Do you really think over 1 billion people actively went out and installed Google+?
~~I'm in the same boat. Tried a variety of methods and still no option to follow.~~
So out of curiosity, I looked up one of the names from the leaderboards in the Google+ app and used the Follow option there to add the person. I then restarted MFF and bam! There he was. I have a sneaking suspicion it has to do with Google's (very) recent move to abandon Google+ in favor of the new Gamer IDs. In short, if you can't find the Follow option via the leaderboards, I ask: have you recently been forced to register a Gamer ID? If so, you may be out of luck, barring copying & pasting 100 names over from the leaderboards to Google+. If someone can find me a way of looking up the leaderboards in the Google+ app, that would probably facilitate things.
To the person above me having similar issues: did you recently have to create a new Gamer ID?
Okay, so I've got this. If you are having issues with no follow option via the leaderboards in the game because you're using a Gamer ID, there is a workaround. However, you'll need the Google+ app instead of the Google Play app.
Hopefully this helps anyone in a similar position to mine. At the very least, it should streamline the process. Just be certain you've logged in with both Facebook and your Google Gamer ID.
