Give Google Cardboard a try. Insidious VR isn't nearly as scary (unless you are the jumpy type) but it will give a decent approximation.
Here's my two recommendations:
Insidious VR- A tie in released to promote the movie
Chair In A Room- the second and last horror VR experience I tried.
It works quite well on my S6. Only a tiny bit of drifting can occur, but not each time. I have not experienced any shaking. I tried Insidious VR about an hour ago, and I guess we can put that in horror light stuff as well, but it was kinda creepy without being scary. And if you try it, the parts where everything is kind of black and very pixelated, at first I thought it had crashed, but no, it's a rather weird effect, so just keep it running.
Quick question, probably the wrong place to ask this as well, but this game is saying that it isn't compatible with my phone, even though my phone (nexus 5) is in the list. It is rooted and has a changed DPI, could it be that?
This is not really a game, but a scary immersive "trailer" from the Insidious 3 movie.
I think it is scary as fuck, but maybe I'm a wuss

Install it before trying to open. If app is not existent, you'll be offered to install it from Google Play. And you know - Google Play is not VR compatible. Yet.
The Insidious 3 "experience" is pretty neat.
So are the 360 VR Youtube videos.
I think so? It's for Cardboard (there might be a gear version), but it's right here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.focus.insidiousCardboard&hl=en
Im going to be running the Insidious Cardboard App
