It's called Demon's Plague. It's a zombie apocalypse book, but unlike every other one it takes place in Medieval England instead of a modern / military setting. The zombies are heavily inspired by Max Brooks, no runners. I also did my best to avoid common tropes for the genre. Characters are intelligent, learn quickly how to handle the infected. And best of all, the story focuses on exactly zero children or babies.
It's available on Amazon now in digital and paperback.
Thanks to everyone who helped Beta test the app. Don't hesitate to reach out if you experience any issues or have suggestions!
EDIT: there’s an issue affecting a few users where they see their PC on the Oculus Go but they are unable to connect. I am investigating the issue and will report back!
EDIT #2: Disabling NordVPN’s CyberSec feature and restarting the PC seems to solve the issue for a lot of users.
Yeah it is. I don't have a 3d printer myself a friend of mine made it for me. I just sent him the cad file. I will look for it and post it here shortly.

This is the file I used.
Easiest way is to install one of map managers for Minecraft pocket edition. GearVR version uses the same world format and looks in the same folders so it should work. I'm currently using this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mcpe.maps.mapsforminecraft.lari
They don't put a clock in there for the same reason that grocery stores, department stores, Target, Wal-Mart, etc don't have clocks visible to everyone. They want you to stay, relax, watch another episode, spend more money, escape and forget about the world for a while.
A clock only reminds us of our busy lives that wet need to get back.
But, give this Talking clock app a try. Set it to tell you the time every 15, 30, 60 minutes.

Indeed you can. It's available on Amazon now in digital and paperback.

After creating my first VR game for the Daydream platform earlier this year I began working on a GearVR title. Once ARCore came out, developers began to test it out and discovered it could be used in conjunction with VR to provide rudimentary HMD tracking using the phone's camera. I jumped at the chance to apply it to my project and the results are actually pretty good. There's very minimal performance loss and the tracking is smooth!
It's not perfect, and will not be default. Right now since ARCore is only available as a preview for the S8 only people with that phone will be able to enable this. But Samsung has previously announced a partnership with Google to release it to as many of their devices as possible down the line.
My game, tentatively titled DLVRE, is a "Space-Sim" style game where instead of piloting a ship you actively maintain and defend it from threats while en-route to deliveries. There will be a large variety of encounters to keep players on their toes and running around (and on top) of the ship. I hope to have a basic demo up and running at the beginning of the new year.
If anyone has any questions let me know! Thanks for reading!
Darn, looks like you are right. There should be a single exe file utility to take a logcat from a PC without installing all the developer tools. Maybe we should write one.
ftbianchi -- if you are willing to go through the Android tools installation, I would be interested in figuring this out.

> Does Daydream work with the Samsung Gear VR (SM-R325)?
Not officially, but the Daydream platform does have some support for third party viewers (you can get a QR code for the SM-R325 here -- use the one for the SM-R323 as the optics are the same).
> Does it work out of the box or do I need also a special controller? If so, which one?
Aside from importing the correct distortion correction profile (as above) you'll need to do two more things:
There are some other tidbits, but you can work them out as/when/if you end up encountering them.
> Does the S9 fit well with the SM-R325?
Perfectly.
> Could I alternatively use a third-party headset that supports both, Daydream and Gear VR?
Using your Gear VR as a Daydream Viewer is actually the best solution, though as you can see by now it's not without some additional friction. You can run the Gear VR platform in developer mode which does in fact allow you to use it with pretty much any headset, but it will no longer be using the Gear VR's calibrated IMU and there will be no way to properly correct for the optical distortion since the Gear VR platform doesn't support custom profiles.
(*I haven't actually tried this controller myself so I can't personally vouch for its performance)
Did you buy it sim free, or on contract etc etc?
Also if on contract or whatever - which network?
The policies vary depending. Generally speaking - Samsung are meant to have a 3 or more dead pixel policy on their amoled phones. So you should be able to swap it regardless. Depending on how you bought it (contract, payg, sim free), and what network, they also offer a no quibble 14 day swap policy - meant for a different handset, but I see no reason why they won't swap for the same. If they are being arsey, just swap it for a different colour. Hehe. :)
Anyway - try this app first. They may just be stuck or whatever. Works for many people. Saves you the hassle of the return:-

You might already know these tips since you sounds like you are managing the situation but:
in the phone's store settings, click Cache then click OK to delete the cache.
use the Disk Usage app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.diskusage ) to very quickly identify large files or apps that you no longer need or want and can delete. I really like this app because with just a quick glance you can see the size of everything on your phone. So the really big data hogs stand out and become quick targets to delete.

Have you tried the consumer version?
Try sitting near a fan. Im in Australia, its hot as hell here and I have hardly any fogging issues.
You shouldn't have to recenter constantly, I can't remember having to recenter more than 3 or 4 times the whole time I've had my gear. Also it shouldn't be drifting as far as I know, you sure there isn't something wrong with yours?
Overheating can be solved by also sitting near a fan, turning 'do not disturb' on, and the brightness down a little, I have mine at about 3 or 4 and its fine, I've overheated once since christmas and that was after about an hour of random people using it outside in the sun next to a barbecue in the middle of summer.
You can pick up a cheap and excellent gamepad like the ipega controller that I have. Here you can see what it looks like http://www.gearbest.com/video-game/pp_268375.html?currency=AUD&gclid=CPnp56-qy8oCFZcjvQodIX0ATg its really good and has worked with every gear vr game that supports controllers that I've tried so far.
If you hate your gear vr so much then why haven't you sold it on ebay or something?

Stay away from Hola: it is known for using your internet connection for other stuff you do 't want. I got MilkVR using the free version of CyberGhost. Install it, enable an automatic US VPN connection, download MilkVR ( and anything else that might be of interest) and uninstall CyberGhost again.
Try VRTV and select "Sphere360" for the Screen type and "3D Over/Under" as the Video Type (or the equivalent settings in whatever VR media player you're using).
Try this, even if doesn't make sense to you.
yes for 2d 360 videos
If you really want to blow their mind (and save a few bucks) with 3d panorama photos , install the cardboard camera app
Okay Part 2:)
For this you do need root. Purchase Apps2SD Pro (currently on sale too)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.co.pricealert.apps2sd.pro&hl=en
Then once that has been installed and has been granted root permissions and is loaded, click on "Link apps to SD card" and let it scan.Once complete, click on a gearvr game (or any app for that matter)
click "menu" or "3dots"
click "Move to adoptable storage"
This will move the app in its entirety to the extSdCard.
Additional hints;
If the app prompts to mount another partition on start, don't! Simply dismiss this dialogue and it shouldn't bother you again. There is no need to mount another partition and trying to do so will likely break your rom and you will have to re-flash it!
Handling "failed to move" messages, Oculus/GearVR is a funny persistent service and you can't move GearVR titles if the store is running, you may get a "failed to move" message. You will also get a "failed to move" message periodically from Apps2SD when attempting to move a GearVR title for the first time. Just be persistent and try again, it will work and if it doesn't the other for sure way to get the title to move is to simply reboot and try again after a fresh boot before loading up the store. Lastly, you may also get a failed to move message with GearVR titile if you don't have at least 1gb free space in internal memory, so manage your space accordingly (not hard now that can essentially move any number of apps to sd) Myself, I currently have 800 apps installed on my phone using this method:)
Also note, apps that have been moved in this matter, will only be available a minute after boot (they need time to load) So wait about a minute after boot before you dive into GearVR.
Let me know if this works for you guys or you have any other questions.
Happy hoarding:)
As indicated by rendler, Oculus Home will now fall back on your phones internal sensors if you launch it without the headset while the Gear VR service is in developer mode. This leaves you free to use any headset you like, albeit without VR-calibre sensors and proper distortion correction.
If you're not actually a developer you can satisfy the prerequisites by installing SideloadVR and following the instructions. Then you just need to locate the Gear VR service in the app manager, tap on the VR Service Version a few times, and then hit the appropriate toggle.
I'll try to write up a detailed one a bit later. Right now the quick one is: step one, have a 660 or above nvidia card.
then: download sideload vr. follow the instructions there, and then install streamtheater.
launch stream theater, and make sure it works with regular games. This is a cool experience anyway (and great for also streaming movies if you set it to stream your desktop and then full screen vlc).
to add 3d depth to the games, install tridef 3d, Set it to run in sbs mode. launch your games using that. I'm only usuing the trial now, but it's a full version for 14 days.
Once you launch the game with tridef, start streaming in streamtheater to the gearvr using the desktop mode.
and then it should all be working!
If you have root you could use this app: Gear VR Cardboard
I'm the developer of this app so if someone concerns i can add a notification toggle too if this is preferred.
Concerning the "non root" method i think that Package Disabler uses some Knox features to disable services (as it only works on Samsung devices and there is also a Knox agreement notification when you use it). It also does not work on rooted devices. As i'm always running rooted devices i cant investigate deeper into using this method. Knox is a no go for rooted devices - shame on you samsung!
..oh and shame on Samsung and/or Oculus not adding native cardboard support to the Gear!
It's oculus cinema with nvidia gamestream instead of movies. Gamestream is a game-oriented low latency remote desktop.
It has support for side by side 3d (any side by side 2-eye view on the PC screen can be set to send half to each eye)
It supports many Bluetooth controllers and they're treated like a native PC controller.
It also has a VR mode where head tracking translates to mouse movements. It's not perfect but it has the advantage over other remote desktop software that it is a gearvr app and tries to adjust the screen position to account for latency.
Also it's free, and available from SideloadVR
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Download that app and search for vr then select the oculus app and say try. It should launch the service and create an icon in your app tray.
Otherwise you gotta wait to plug the phone into the headset.
Download the Sideload App and setup your device (if you have your Oculus Account credentials ready it only takes a minute)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sideloadvr.market
Then just browse the store and look for Quake :).
To customize the game, like adding texture packs, installing the full version, multiplayer servers, etc, you will find more help here:

It's probably got an AC-3 or a DTS audio stream, which Samsung VR doesn't support. You can use any number of utilities to copy the video stream into a new container without transcoding, but you will need to transcode the audio to AAC (or some other supported audio format) during the same operation. I'd typically use Avidemux for this sort of thing. Set "Video Output" to "Copy", "Audio Output" to one of the AAC options, hit "Configure" to select a bitrate (you can optionally use a filter to remix to stereo if you like), and then set the "Output Format" to "Mkv Muxer". Since you're only transcoding the audio stream the operation shouldn't take very long.
Google will show you plenty of other ways to achieve the same result if you prefer :)
Well... to be honest it isn't an expensive TV, they just marked it up. It is a 55" full HD... which is only 1080p. I mean it isn't cheap, but Samsung will sell it with extras to you on Amazon for 629... https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55J6200-55-Inch-Protector-Cleaning/dp/B00YOOKD7I/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1515677754&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=samsung+tv+55+inch+full+hd&psc=1
>As far as non-gaming applications, you are truly using your PC desktop and pretty much anything you can get onto your desktop display, you can see on a screen in VR (which has several environments in which to place it, so if you want to watch Netflix in a movie theatre, you can-- I will say the experience isn't nearly as nice as the native Netflix VR app, but on the other hand, it's waaaay better than the native Hulu VR app.)
For that purpose I highly recommend installing the gearvr native app /r/Bigscreen , as it does that a LOT better.

If you have an amd video card and a daydream capable phone (ideally one with >60hz screen!) , you can skip all that and just do this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.amd.wirelessgvr
And you won't need a gearvr technically though it works great with that too!
Just use the Injector for GearVR that is available in the playstore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zgsbrgr.gearvr.injector

Much better. More accurate, more responsive, more precise, more immersion, etc. It is around 100 dollars better. ;)
Most games are pay ware and prices range from 3 to 15 dollar. Quite a few non-game apps are free.
No. Well, you can disable the Gear VR services and get Play Store apps working but because of the differences between the cardboard and the Gear VR the apps will mostly look awful: bad animation, stutters, etc. So, no, they don't really work.
Afaik only two apps aren't directly available outside of the US (MilkVR and a game) but you can get them anyway if you use a free VPN app like CyberGhost.
You're on the wrong reddit. This is for Gear VR users.
However just look on the Play store.
E.g. this one can't be easily skipped
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kog.alarmclock
If you have a Chromecast, use that.
If you don't have a Chromecast, use MirrorOP.
There is an app, BT Controller , that should work for what your looking for.
However, it might not be as great as it sounds. Not having physical buttons + having your vision restricted might make it rather difficult to operate. If you could, I would recommend selling the S4 (depending on condition, you can probably get $100+ for it) and buying a better controller. Like the one recommended by Oculus
There is a remote desktop cardboard app that works with the gear vr housing. it's a bit awkward only because cardboard apps dont use the touchpad so you have to waive a magnet in front of your face to click things, i suppose a bluetooth mouse and keyboard could fix that easy enough though. It's not so configurable either.
I hope there are devs out there working on a full featured native gear vr virtual desktop!
You just missed two windows for a deal for $89.99 on Amazon. Samsung also had it for $89.99. Both included the 3DOF Samsung controller, which I highly recommend. It's $40 on its own. I recommend the latest version that supports the Note8 (and S8).
https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/7kdlxp/gear_vr_latest_edition_note8_is_8999_on_amazon
If you're not in a hurry, I suspect they will have another sale in the next couple of months. I recommend that you set up an alert on http://camelcamelcamel.com for a target price of $100. It will probably won't be less than $89 until June or later.
Unity just sent out a great vr email with links to 5.3 and their vr info. http://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/topics/virtual-reality
is the page. I have followed it thru, added android sdk, unity 5.3, etc... along with my phones sig file (all of which it shows you how to do) and have placed a working basic vr world on my note 4 and note 5 phones. Give it a try.
Hey all! It is indeed possible to play vr games on pc with your gear vr. I've done that for the biggest part of the year till I jumped on the rift at Black Friday.
The software I used is riftcat and vridge. You can get it here: https://riftcat.com/vridge
There is also a subreddit for it: /r/vridge
You get the best performance with 5ghz WiFi or with a USB to Ethernet adapter. The latter is only working for an s8 and s8+. I am sure the new note is also working.
You can find some example videos and how to's on YouTube in Daley techs channel.
Regarding your problem opp. Make sure your phones screen resolution is on the max setting and it is properly inserted in the gear vr. Use riftcat/vridge beta channel and don't forget that there is another app on sideload for the beta branch. Then make sure that the resolution in riftcat settings on your pc match your screen resolution. If nothing of that helped and the normal oculus mode is working fine, try to reinstall all the apps and don't forget to reboot between and preferably after. Mobile and pc.
Hope that can fix your issue
There are ways to use things like the Leap Motion with GearVR, but its all hacked together stuff like Riftcat.
Riftcat is pretty awesome though, check it out if you are interested - https://riftcat.com/vridge
> Would love to try the new funhouse
It's a Steam VR experience, and while there is a way to peak into that world with your Gear VR using VRidge (which will be getting better in the next week or so with the release of the Gear VR version), it requires the HTC Vive's tracked motion controllers for proper interaction. If you're adventurous though, and manage your expectations, you might be able to have some fun by going the LeapMotion route. Just be aware that you'll need a 980 Ti, TITAN X, 1060 or 1070 GPU as a bare minimum to power the whole deal.
I'm definitely going to be playing around with VRidge when the Gear VR version gets released, but to me it's more of a novelty than a truly viable Rift/Vive alternative because even if you have a dedicated 5GHz ac wireless solution to work with* you still end up with anywhere from a little to a lot of stuttering when panning around, which ruins immersion.
(*those who are familiar with VRidge might point out that USB tethering is better but if you have a really good wireless setup you'll only end up with an additional 4ms or so of latency which to me is an imperceptible difference in practice and is therefore more than an acceptable trade-off for access to the Gear VR's superior sensors).
/u/ElizabethRobinThales mentioned TrinusVR, but I would personally recommend VRidge. VRidge, IMO, has the advantage that it uses a custom driver to work natively with SteamVR games while TrinusVR doesn't. The gist of both of these apps is that they send a video stream to your phone over your network. This will always introduce lag, but it is quite often pretty manageable with the right setup(Wifi AC was what I used and it worked well enough to stream 1440p@60fps for me). The devs are currently working on a GearVR version likely to be released on SideloadVR but the Google Cardboard version that is in the Play Store is pretty good too if you want to try it out.
Gear VR ought to have among the lowest SDE out of any VR headset currently?
I certainly don't see any Screen Door Effect on my Galaxy S6 with 20/15 vision.
> Have seen some "solutions" for streaming games from the desktop - but is it possible to setup the GearVR (newest edition) to let me work with a bit of privacy from my laptop or at work on my desktop?
The only solution I know of that really gives you a large, immersive desktop experience; a proper workspace, is Virtual Desktop. And you can run that with VRidge/Riftcat so long as the host computer in question is powerful enough to provide a decent experience. Then you can just turn the host's monitor/display off, or hide it away or whatever.
I use the free version of MediaCoder http://www.mediacoderhq.com
with these settings in the audio section: http://img5.fotos-hochladen.net/uploads/mediacodersettim2z70sxr8o.jpg
Only converts the audio tracks. Takes only a few minutes to do a whole movie.
Forgot to say: If its not default setting, check "Copy Video" in the Video section.
Do you mean record the audio output of the phone? If you have a PC sound card with a line in jack, you can just use a 3.5 mm audio cable and connect it from the headphones jack on the phone to the sound card. Then use something like Audacity (http://www.audacityteam.org) to record the output.
Yeah man. It's called Demon's Plague. It's a zombie apocalypse book, but unlike every other one it takes place in Medieval England instead of a modern / military setting. As listed in another post, why not just get the new controller for cheap?
edit: Currently $27 on Amazon
Or use the free version of the CyberGhost app: Hola has a very bad reputation. Anyway, as Normm67 said: use a VPN app to let the Gear think you are in the US, download and install MilkVR and after that you can remove the VPN app. As soon as MilkVR has been installed, it will keep on working. You might as well check if there are any more US-only apps that you might find interesting.
It is only available in the Oculus store when you are located in the US. If you are somwhere else you can use a VPN Client like GoVPN and select an US VPN server. When you have installed MilkVR you can turn off the VPN.
There's a Positional Tracking Demo on SideloadVR. I don't know what its S7 compatibility status is right now though.
There's more than one way to skin this cat (or bake this cake if you prefer), but in my opinion the easiest most compelling option is to create stereoscopic panaromas using the Cardboard Camera app.
You can both view the resulting images in the Oculus 360 Photos app.
If you have another Android phone, running KitKat or higher, you can install Google's controller emulator on it and use it as a Daydream controller. https://developers.google.com/vr/daydream/controller-emulator I also had to enable the Developer Options setting in the Daydream app (press "Version" 7 times) and enable "Controller emulator device." I recommend placing some tape on the emulator phone screen so you can feel where the different buttons are.
YMMV but I also use the "Play Cardboard" app in order to use my GearVR headset instead of purchasing the Daydream headset (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.cardboardappforgearvr&hl=en). I also enabled the "Skip VR Entry Screens" option to bypass the "insert phone into Daydream compatible headset" splash screen. Everything works, but man, my S8 got hot faster than in GearVR apps.
> I'm afraid my phone would explode if I asked it to do that much work.
Running a simple no frills DLNA server is really a trivial exercise for a modern smartphone. This one works just fine and literally requires nothing more than pressing "Start" to get it up and running. Content in the /Movies folder (and gallery, and probably a couple of other places) then becomes accessible in Pigasus via a "Local Media" entry. It's really quite perfect for such a workaround, and it gives you exactly the feature you're asking for. Just go and try it.
> What about Moon VR?
Doesn't have sticky mode or travel mode last time I checked.
Nomads also from Felix and Paul has some of that as well but I think that's about it for stereoscopic footage. If you're willing to check out non-stereoscopic 360 videos there's I highly recommend Atmosphaeres. You get the video files from the app so you can view them with Samsung VR for a better experience. I also enjoyed "The Wild Within" even though the video quality isn't really ideal.
There are a few VR relaxation apps with beaches etc. as well but their problem usually is that they've compressed the video a lot to keep the size small and the quality is pretty poor as a consequence. Only one of those that is both based on real video and kind of 3D is "exVRience relaxation". The 3D is done by hand based on 360 video footage and while the impression isn't terrible you can still tell pretty easily that it's artificial.
My understanding is that the plugin in question is a workaround for some new security measures that have landed in Nougat that prevent apps like PDP from working. Other developers have had to implement similar solutions in an effort to maintain equivalent functionality.
You can think of the PDP Engine as a partner application that conspires with the main application to get the device administrator privileges that are necessary in order for the whole deal to work.
To be clear though, I'm not vouching for anything. There's always a risk with things like this, and it's yours to take.
For some reason they keep disappearing and stop working. I guess someone found a way to make a buck. The one I have that still seem to be working is named Play Cardboard
Sounds good. Maybe consider taking some stereoscopic panoramas with Google Cardboard Camera also. The app takes really good photos when using a tripod https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.vr.cyclops&hl=sv
This should still be working if you're on 6.01, but if you're on 7.0 you might have to resort to disabling the Gear VR service manually using Package Disabler Pro or something similar.
What are people still doing with the Cardboard platform these days anyway? I ask because I often see people resorting to an inferior Cardboard experience only because they don't realize that there's a way to do the same thing on the Gear VR platform, and better (with a few exceptions perhaps).
There's also an app that let's you pick gearvr or cardboard as the default that should work pretty good. I think this is the one I got: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.cardboardappforgearvr&hl=en
Use this app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kunkunsoft.cardboardappforgearvr
You can even create a widget to switch between cardboard and gearvr mode without even opening up the app.
You can install the Gear VR version of Samsung VR by first installing a VPN app from the Play Store (such as Cloud VPN) and setting your location to the US (by clicking on that little globe icon at the top left). Then you can open the Oculus app on your phone and Samsung VR should show up if you search for it (if it doesn't, close the Oculus app completely (swipe it away) and open it again). Once you're done don't forget to open up the Cloud VPN app again and disconnect.
I'll try to get you a link to the latest version of the mobile companion app as soon as the spam filter stops hating me.

VR Controller app for Android can turn your old smartphone into Minecraft VR controller! https://www.facebook.com/vrcontroller/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vasosoft.android.vrcontroller
Install the SideloadVR app in the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sideloadvr.market
Follow the instructions in the app to allow the sideload of Gear VR apps.
Then, install YTCinemaVR.
If you can't see MilkVR in the Oculus Store you'll need to install an app that lets you connect using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which will then make the store think you are connecting from within the US. This is not complicated at all.
First make sure that the Oculus Store app is not running, then you can go to your regular Google Play store, look for an App called TunnelBear, download and install the App and follow the basic instructions and pick US as your location.
Once done, you can run the Oculus Store on your phone, download and install MilkVR (which will now be available) and afterwards you can open the TunnelBear app again and shut down the VPN.
Please note that TunnelBear is just one of many VPN Apps available, it is the one I used and it was easy to use and worked without any trouble. Here is a link to their website as well.
Quick and easy process.
Tap the Try button
As long as you have a compatible galaxy model, the Oculus app should launch. Now you can download VR apps and games to your device ahead of time, your Gear VR experience will be fully loaded before UPS drops it off at your door.

Get a talking clock app like this one and set it to tell you the time every 15 minutes, 30 minutes or whatever interval you want (every minute if you are paranoid!).

I helped develop the Cedar Point VR app. It technically doesn't work with Gear VR but if you have the Note 4 version of the Gear you can launch the app and hook the phone to the headset without connecting the USB.
We have a version that works with the Gear but Oculus didn't want to put coaster experiences on the Gear VR marketplace since they cause too much "uncomfort."

As a dev, I can understand. Google play gives ample refund time.
As far as VR hunting games, I just released what I'd say is the most realistic hunting simulator for mobiles on Google Play, and I'm working on bringing it into VR.
I tested it already in the gear vr and it was amazing hunting bear with a compound bow in a 20 square mile Colorado mountain range, at 45 frames per second though. Which means oculus won't let me submit it but I'm working on getting the performance up.
Feel free to check out the non VR version and tell me what you think about playing that in VR.

Over the holidays my family got a big kick out of the "Catatonic" video in the VRSE app.
Then I just threw them in the deep end and put them in Omega Agent >:)
They also really liked the Cedar Point VR Cardboard app (a roller coaster), but you have to use the Package Disabler trick to get it to run on the Gear VR...
Edit: Link.
Hey guys, Amazon finally delivered and I shot this rather long unboxing with some comparisons to my S6 Innovator Edition Gear VR. Some of the content is stuff you'll already all know but other bits are insightful... answering questions I had been wondering about even after some of the earlier videos. I plan to do a deep look with weighing and stuff between the two versions and compare the optics soon, feel free to share your questions and suggestions for what you'd like to see. I'm also open to input on how to screen capture while using the Gear. I tried an app tonight called "EASY Screen Recorder" but it cut recording as soon as the Gear was put on... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.invisibility.recordable thanks for all of your help with questions I've had and thanks for your constructive and critical feedback of this video, I'll take your suggestions into account for future stuff.
Not that I've seen. If you have another Android phone you can use BT Controller. It's a little weird to use without being able to see or feel the buttons, but it'll give you an idea of gameplay while you look for a controller.
There may technically be 300, but only a portion are functional and not headache inducing. Even Carmack had this to say when going through the finalist.
My head hurts from evaluating VR Jam entries that aren't even close to 60 fps.
But to the OP, this is a developer version. Don't expect anything until consumer release. If you want content, get a Google Cardboard as well.
There is also SideloadVR through Google Play, that has additional Gear VR compatible stuff.
Install oculus app, login, start downloading apps!
To get Oculus app on S6 without GearVR:

Find GearVRSetupWizardStub
Click TRY
trinus gyre is the app you are looking for. You can select from multiple tracking methods(mouse, trackIR,etc) and video sources(limelight included). It's worth the cost. There is also a free version to test with before buying.
I'm pretty sure that the reason a big deal is being made about replacing S7 Active devices with water damage under warranty is because some of them don't actually meet the IP68 certification due to a manufacturing flaw. In other words it's all about restoring consumer confidence, or at least peace of mind.
The standard S7/S7E doesn't appear to have the problem in the first place, so no special marketing treatment would be necessary.
The Steam page doesn’t list Mac support. It’s an entirely different windowing system to tie into, so it wouldn’t be a simple port.
FWIW, here’s all the VR-only titles with OS X support on Steam.
Extremely limited. There may be some titles with optional VR support that have Mac VR support also, but it’s impossible to filter for AFAICT.
After over a decade of only owning Macs, I bought a PC for VR. Apple just isn’t very interested in the VR market yet, unfortunately. Glad they are working with Valve, but it’s really just dev support at present.
no it doesnt, edge still works fine.
I use something like this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Newest-ultra-thin-soft-silicone-protective-back-case-For-Samsung-Galaxy-S7-Edge-SM-G935F-anti/32693307155.html?spm=2114.40010308.4.16.Djw7ZD in navy blue
its grippy which helps a lot
The Quake Reforged monster reskin does work on DrBeef's port, but you need the DDS format version, which I plucked from the Quake HD pack. The whole Quake HD pack works actually, although to get an acceptable framerate I had to disable a few things as per the Performance section of the PDF instructions included with the pack (and even then more tweaking is required to bring the framerate up to parity with vanilla Quake + QRP, if it's even possible). I also had to disable gyro physics, otherwise the game crashed at the start of E1M2.
As promised, I checked it out when my new GearVR arrived. I only have an S7 Edge to test with; so I cannot say how the S6 should work.
Here is a link to my results: https://giphy.com/gifs/S72pbSKyIIs3S
The "New" screenshot was taken in developer mode after hooking my S7 up to the new GearVR. I then attached the S7 to my old GearVR and took a second developer mode screenshot. This one is labeled "Old".
The demo scene is very sparse. It is just an old test I had laying around that was simple enough to ~sort of~ maintain orientation between screenshots. In both screenshots, the pawn's position is the same. That said, it does show a noticeable difference between the two GearVR eye boxes.
If your S6 Edge is not similarly altering the eye box for the new GearVR, it could explain the issue you are seeing.

There are a lot of games that you could play without motion controllers. You can also use the revive/librevr hack to play some of the PC Oculus games.
And then there is Stream Theater (which you can get through SideloadVR, requires an GTX 650 or higher) for streaming your normal PC games to your headset. It also has some settings you can configure to play some regular first person games in VR.
You can head over to Riftcat's website here: https://riftcat.com/vridge where you can sign up for a program that streams Oculus Rift games to your phone using a brand new runtime, that doesn't even require Oculus runtimes to be installed. I've been using it for months now and it's amazing. They plan to support the Vive in the future, but as of now there are no known ways to play HTC Vive titles without the actual headset. It even simulates depth by scaling up the image, feels the same as using the Gear VR, except lower resolution and minor artifacting depending on bitrate and your connection speed.
Download this: https://www.android.com/intl/en_us/filetransfer/
If you're talking about seeing videos in Oculus Cinema: Copy them over into Movies folder on the Android. You'll see the folders once you connect the USB to your mac after you've installed the Android File Transfer app.
Movies - mp4 work. Use Handbrake (free app) to convert your own DVD movies.
If you're talking about 360 movies then check out some of the various Samsung apps (Littlestar, etc) which allow viewing or downloading uploaded 360 videos and stills.
You can use Hugin http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ Make sure you take enough screenshots and leave about 30% overlap between each image. Hugin should work really well with ingame screenshots. Don't forget to turn off the HUD
I assume you're trying to do Remote Desktop streaming from your PC to your Go?
We recently added support for Intel QuickSync to do hardware accelerated video encoding on your PC even if you have a GPU like the GeForce 1030, which doesn't have NVENC as u/crimson__wolf pointed out.
Can you try the latest version on Steam? Do you have an Intel CPU?
If you still have issues, please upload your debug logs (from here: http://bigscreenvr.com/debug) into our Discord group (http://bigscreenvr.com/discord)
How about EMBY ? It lets you stream anything on your PC to any internet browser, you know Samsung Internet? I guess one guy says this works 100% and is the best thing ever. I have yet to try it. Maybe you can and let us know how it works out?
A wide variety of BT controllers work so the skies are pretty much the limit but you can also wait for the new controller which was announced which is backwards compatible with the older VR headsets.. https://slickdeals.net/f/9828923-50-off-all-flash-deals-with-coupon-code-flash50-a4c-com You can snap up one of these guys for cheap. The new one has a few extra features but expect to pay a higher pricepoint that doesnt include the new controller.
I don't have a GearVR anymore so i can't say if it's a global issue or just you. But if for whatever reason you can't get it working again and the others you mentioned aren't what you're looking for, i do have another app to suggest.
I'm the developer of Home Theater VR, and i recently added a web browser to it. It's the VR app for the mobile VR apocalypse. It's my own custom VR system, so it doesn't rely on any external VR services. Even if GearVR/Cardboard/Daydream/etc all stop working, this app will still work. To use it on GearVR, you would need to do this or disable GearVR services.
Hi Blevok, just wanted to let you know that VRTV did the job. Maybe you can take help from that app and add this feature to your app because your app is way better than VRTV.
If the downloaded videos are the actual equirectangular image, then my app Home Theater VR should display them properly. You just need to select the right theater for it. To use it on GearVR you would have to use the paper trick or whatever your preferred method of using non-GearVR apps is.
u can try this too it should trigger gear vr install without headset:
1- Go to Playstore and download "Quick Shortcut Maker" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
2- After the app installs, just search for "VRSetupWizardStub" or "Gear VR" or simply just "VR". The "VRSetupWizardStub" is the command the phone receives the first time you plug the device into Gear VR.
3- Tap the Try button
As long as you have a compatible model, the Oculus app should launch. Now you can download VR apps and games to your device ahead of time, also create an account...

Check out this "mod" I did for the Gear VR lens cover.
https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/69y69o/make_better_use_of_thar_gearvr_cover/
Then get yourself one of these cases on Amazon.
I tried the cooling pack solution for ONE day way back in the day. It seemed to work but the next day I bought this cooling fan at Amazon. It has great reviews and it works.
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Cooling-COMPATIBLE-consumer-built/dp/B01KPTSQ4W
You can start out with the cooling pack, but you may eventually want to simply stick that fan on the Gear VR and be done with it. Maybe if you get the older Gear VR plus the fan that might be cheaper than getting the newer Gear VR. The newer one has a few benefits but you may not care about any of those benefits.
Google Shopping shows the older Gear VR for less than 20 in different places.
If the fan costs 30, there's your $50 (20 + 30). You might want to wait until you can't take the overheating anymore to see what it's like before buying a fan. You may not be able to appreciate a headset that doesn't overheat until you've lived with one that does. I bought the Note 5 back in the day when it was Samsung's other flagship ($850) phone. Same overheating problem. They were Samsung's early attempts. They're still good phones but over the years Samsung found better ways to solve overheating as it introduced more expensive models.
If you only want to spend 5, 10, 15 minutes in VR, overheating may not matter. I know money matters, but as you see just in this thread, the Go has lots of fans.
I used cardboard enabler, i like that it maps the magnet to the touch panel, so everything works, and it uses native gearVR mode as well. Unfortunately its not on the playstore anymore, that's where i bought it. It seems to be possible to find it elsewhere, at your own risk:
https://m.allfreeapk.com/cardboard-enabler-for-gear-vr,3141738/
But https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bartslab.gearvrcardboard
should work too, i have not tried it.
apparently root is not required
I beta tested Slightly Heroes and it's a blast with 2 players.
It should be available for the Gear VR on Dec 11th:

Right. They can't see what you are doing. They throttle the VPN itself. They see you're connecting to PrivateInternetAccess, Torguard, etc etc through whatever port and just throttle all of that traffic.
I used the free CyberGhost app. Start it, make a VPN connection via the US and then simply launch the Oculus app: you don't need to search for and start up the app in CyberGhost itself like with Hola (step 3 and 4 in the first post). Uninstall CyberGhost afterwards. Easier, quicker and no Hola-like problems as Weeksy77 posted.
Install the free app CyberGhost. Make a VPN connection via the USA. Go to the Oculus store and install MilkVR and anything else you like. End the VPN connection and uninstall CyberGhost. The apps will stay in your library from now on: you can use them and even uninstall them and reinstall them from within the library without the need for yet another VPN connection.
