No. It's just cheaper. That's literally the only advantage of using PIA, besides supporting the company. I understand Reddit loves PIA but most people have no idea what they're talking about.
NordVPN comes with better security (double hop VPN servers), better ad block (PIA MACE a very limited ad blocker, no customization and it's less efficient than CyberSec from NordVPN), better support (NordVPN has live chat support, 30 day money back quarantee, PIA has notoriously bad support
Edit: PIA Is not a bad VPN by any means but this bandwagoning is getting ridiculious. Downvotes just prove my point.
VPN's themselves are fine. Using FREE VPN's is not fine. Nothing is free.
There are plenty of reputable and quite good VPN services out there. I use NordVPN myself and have zero issues whatsoever. Speed is great, my tracks are covered, and I can access region restricted content. It's affordable, safe, and indispensable.
Anymore, you're foolish for not using a VPN. Just make sure that you use a legimate one. Any kind of "Free" VPN is stealing your data, has shit speeds, or worse.
If you want an exhaustive list of VPNs and how they compare to each other, I would highly recommend checking out , specifically the VPN Comparison Chart. There is a more detailed and advanced version of the chart but the simple one will suffice for non-advanced users.
NordVPN user here. It's pretty solid. I use their desktop app but I use OpenVPN app on Android with their ovpn config files. (No particular reason, android app wasn't ready back when I set it up) I'm happy with the performance at both ends. Some servers perform better than others but there is an incredible amount of selection when it comes to servers. I'm really happy with it.
Honestly you won’t get a great VPN that provides lifetime subscription and everything you are hoping for. I personally use NordVPN and it has treated me well, decent speeds, plenty of servers, no logs etc. and not terribly expensive. Main thing about Nord is it resides in Panama, accepts Bitcoin, and does not require any personal info. Obviously there are numerous options but the good/great ones will not provide a lifetime subscription.
For some other possible options and privacy in general use the wesbite for info.
Additionally, making sure your VPN has DNS leak protection is important, because if it doesn't there's still a way for your ISP to see what you're doing. NordVPN does have this, but there are some paid ones that do not, so it's important check that out first.
My favorite so far is NordVPN, and their price isn't bad if you go annual. If you're of the *nix persuasion, you'll have to do the usual setup, but they do provide the config to import.
I've had pretty good experiences with NordVPN so far. They have a constantly updated list of servers that work with US-Netflix, it's a little annoying having to pick a specific server every time but it always works.
Hard to say which is the best. If you want quality, go for a paid option. I've tried many services. Currently I'm using NordVPN and I'm happy with it. They offer quality VPN with many options for a fair price. I don't use the android app since it lacks the option to not route local network traffic. But besides that, NordVPN is a reliable choice.
NordVPN. I bought like 3 years at $2.75/month and you can run it on like 5 devices simultaneously or something like that. Based in Venezuela or Panama I think. No logging and no extradition to the US either so your data, even if it were held (it's not) would be safe from the US government
Every time someone asks "what's the best VPN to access Netflix in "Country-X" from "Country-Y", the answer seems to be NordVPN. The same goes for (Netflix on) Android phone, Android TV, Apple TV, iPhone, Smart TV, etc.
NordVPN is one of the most highly recommended providers, and it's also in an area where they are not affiliated with or are required to hand over any data regarding their users regardless of who asks. They also keep no logs, allow torrents, Onion over the VPN (TOR Network), kill switch, and more.
China's a little different but the Great Firewall is easily surpassed by VPNs like NordVPN.
I lived in South Korea and now Thailand where porn's illegal and all I have to do is switch to https:// and I have access.
Apollo for Reddit (have literally tried all the other reddit apps, and this is still the best).
Rick Steves Audio Europe - free audio walking tours in some European cities. Are professional quality and come with maps. Amazing travel app if you travel solo.
Pocket Casts- beautiful app, and i like podcasts
lire - best payonce RSS app on iOS atm. Can also sync and fetch text for offline use without extra charges (just a bit slow).
NordVPN - tried a few big names, this is the best. Can even fool Netflix.
OSMAnd maps- useful if you travel alot. Can save offline maps of cities/countries. Since you wont find data everywhere. I understand googlemaps can do it too but its way more cumbersome if you travel multiple cities,
I pay for mine, currently NordVPN, though I've used others there without real issue. There's virtually always some deal or another with one of the reputable vpns, and if there isn't you only need wait a wee bit and there will be one. ( is a pretty decent overview and starting point)
NordVPN, hundreds of access points Dozens of countries, even High Speed "streaming" access points, and direct to TOR access points that encrypt your entire connection stream, they even accept Bitcoin. They have a Canary, and even still have no logging.
NordVPN is good. Based in Panama, no logging policy. You can pay by credit card or even crypto. Works with Netflix to give you US Netflix. Has servers based in most countries (Malaysia, Singapore, etc for speed). I believe they have a 2 year plan for ~$79 USD and 3 years for ~$99 USD
I'm on team NordVPN. They've been brilliant so far. However, anyone with Sky needs to disable Sky Shield to even access the NordVPN site as it is blocked by sky. Ridiciculous. I thought Sky Shield was to "protect" you, not stop you from protecting yourself. Sky really, really do not want you to get a VPN.
I pay for Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu+Spotify (student package which is only $5/month), and of course, NordVPN for torrenting everything else. I also have Amazon Prime student which I bought specifically for shipping. Don’t use it much except to watch The Grand Tour.
Edit: edited for clarity. My sentence structure was initially poor leading everyone to believe I pay $5 for everything.
NordVPN and ExpressVPN works for me right now.
Edit: NordVPN has a 3 day trial where all you give is your email and you can use any server and you get normal speeds. Same as ExpressVPN for Mobile only you search up netflix with either vpn, they have a guide that will tell you which servers to use.
Buy a 1-month VPN membership (a good one like NordVPN) and watch the CBC or BBC’s coverage. Way less ads, very little obnoxious commentary, and content on demand with full event streaming online. Stop bitching about NBC, we all know they suck. Just pay the $12 and cancel the service at the end of the month. It’s easy.
Many streaming broadcasters are now starting to do this. I use a VPN (NordVPN -- not recommending them, just stating what I use). These streaming services cannot track my true location, DNS or IP address on a Virtual Private Network.
I'm using NordVPN since they're based in Panama. I was using Private Internet Access but I read recently that it's not a good idea to use a service that's based in the US since they could be susceptible to the US's shady spying nonsense.

Have you ever tried to access your favorite shows on Netflix, only to be blocked by your country? Tried to log in to PayPal, YouTube or other sites while trying to buy plushies… but couldn’t? Well I have a solution to your problem thanks to today’s sponsor, NordVPN.
similarly, if you have a VPN (NordVPN is a great one), lets you search for movies and shows across the netflix catalog of tons of countries.
wanna watch harry potter on netflix but live in the U.S.? set up your VPN to connect to a server in france.
you can search just about anything and it’ll be on netflix somewhere. VPNs are super neat.
edit: NordVPN works flawlessly for me, but there are definitely VPNs that will not. free ones are pretty much guaranteed to not work.

BEFORE googling: go to a grocery store and buy (with cash) a credit gift card. Then go online a buy yourself a cheap VPN (virtual private network) like NordVPN or ExpressVPN.
If you need help with some of the technical stuff ( downloading it, making sure its on and working correctly, etc.) PM me.
NordVPN and those other ones that advertise on YouTube are run by the US government. CIA / NSA
How else do they have such huge advertising budgets to sponsor every fucking YouTube channel and video.
Plus think about it, instead of monitoring everyone’s traffic and looking for people that are hiding something you just release this VPN that’s “totally safe” and now all the people that actually have something to hide give you all their traffic.
How many people are using nordVPN when they don’t actually have something to hide. Most people don’t care about privacy like that.
Yeah I understand the concept of not needing something to hide to want privacy but from the government’s perspective is this not the best way to go about knowing who to monitor?

NordVPN is registered to an address in Panama used by shell companies. Their payments are processed by an american company called CloudVPN, which is owned by a man called Darius Bereika from Lithuiana. Darius Bereika also owns Tesonet, a data mining company. Tesonet has been sued for infringment on patents regarding the extraction of data from users of a VPN service.
Yeah, keep on trusting NordVPN. They're totally not sketchy at all.
“Hey Mick, remember when the ECW crowds wanted to cane Dewey? Well, if you had NordVPN back then, you could sleep peacefully knowing Dewey was protected by the leader in internet privacy. Use CODE “CaneDewey” for a 1-month free trail.”
I have NordVPN. It has its issues. A lot of sites behind some sort of DDOS-protection device or service (like cloudfare) will block a lot of NordVPN IPs. Amazon's main website often doesn't work if I'm connected to it. Also some minor sites, like won't work if I have a NordVPN connection active. It's pretty annoying.
Edit: ironic on a video with a guy advertising NordVPN, consensus in off topic sub-thread concludes PIA is better. LMAO
About NordVPN when they got hacked
> The company wouldn't go public until evidence of the hack emerged some six months later.
I've always used NordVPN for torrenting, gaming etc.
Before I had Nord, I was caught, got a letter and had to pay $900. Now, after subscribing to Nord everything is perfect.
Remember to use a VPN

Be wary of PIA; they were recently bought by a shady company. I’m currently using them, but I’m probably going to switch next time other good options such as NordVPN go on sale.
EDIT: Watch the Linus vídeo someone linked in a reply to me. It has a lot more information on the situation than I had previously seen. Do your research and make your own decision. For what it’s worth, I do think PIA has a great price for its quality and services, and I chose them over other VPNs when I did research on cost/quality/services/privacy a few years ago.
Oh cool, mine is NordVPN.

Tbh as long as the advertisers are companies like Adidas who are closely connected to football & sponsor some of the worlds best players, Im fine with it
But if we‘d get stuff like a NordVPN Nation‘s Change promo then I’d mind
Before we start the video I want to tell you guys about something...

Wagner: "How to forge 5* weapons (not clickbait)*
Kaeya: uploads minecraft and roblox gameplay on pornhub
Stanley: re-uploads videos from the real Stanley's channel that were deleted
Baal: bans Youtube in Inazuma
Kazuha: uses NordVPN to switch to a Canadian ISP
Celestia official channel: Khaenri'ah genocide denial videos
Wanyan: Neo-Havria propaganda videos
Xin Cheng: begs for collabs with the adepti and starts drama with Ganyu
Starsnatcher: gives an actual sincere apology video
NordVPN gets a lot of hate because their advertisements are pervasive, and their sales tactics are scummy. They did also get hacked once to my knowledge, but the server that was hacked did not contain any user activity logs.
If you compare them on That One Privacy Site you’ll see that they’re actually doing a lot right, including being based in Panama so they don’t have to send your data to a government.
Fun fact: I was once linked that by someone who thought it’d prove that Nord sucked, it didn’t.
This being said, VPNs aren’t really for privacy, and nothing is perfect. Do your own research, I’m not recommending Nord to you.
>Development and deployment of internet freedom and Great Firewall circumvention tools for the people of Hong Kong
Is the US going to sponsor NordVPN? It actually not bad, make freedomVPN, make it free, promote it throughout the world as the tool for freedom of speech, secretly do some PRISIM stuffs with it, profit?.
Joking asides, I imagine something like the spacex starlink system would be the perfect solution to circumvent China great firewall, albeit unnecessary.
My favourite is still NordVPN by far. Yes, they have a lot of ads, but that means they have the money to do it. And people wouldn't recommend it if it was bad. Personally, out of all VPN's that I have tested, Nord is best by far.
They're cracking! And for the low price of just £3.95 a month you too can experience the unrivalled power of NordVPN™ just use code #bananainmybum for 15% off until the end of the marke... Er.. The end of September!
He had access to SHIELD files and Avenger candidates via Hope’s log in. Tony was actively recruited by Fury, Clint was already a candidate, Thor just happened to be there, I assume SHIELD also has a liaison with whatever division Thunderbolt Ross is heading since Banner is also a candidate, and Hank just followed Natasha after taking care of Banner.
The lesson of this episode? Use NordVPN. If Hope had used NordVPN to log in to top secret files, Maybe The Avengers would still be alive.
Do NOT download a random free VPN from the app store. First try using the app 1.1.1.1, this isnt a real vpn so there is no expectation of privacy, however, they will encrypt your dns requests so your requests might still go through to Apollo's servers. If you are gonna get a VPN do some research and get something "respectable" like NordVPN or Private Internet Access

Agreed. I bought a NordVPN subscription and broadcast the game on my TV via an HDMI connection with my laptop, which has worked great. But yeah, it’s a shame people need to jump through hoops for this.
NordVPN is definitely the best. I used all, but Nord outperformed all of them when it comes to speed and the stability of connections. You won't find a better one.

Pro VPN: Your Internet Connection is secure. You can not be tracked by a website directly (that also counts for p2p) Also, you can mask your position in general, e.g. you can now watch bbc content outside of the uk or netflix us content from a different country.
Con VPN: The good ones cost money. It might make your speed a little bit slower, but if its a premium service where you pay (like NordVPN), that will hardly be the case.
Look for: VPNs that dont store your data (or at least tell you that and back it up with evidence). If you really want to be untrackable, look for bitcoin payment.

>Nord is pretty well known as well for selling data
Can you source that? They say they don't track or keep any logs and if what you're saying is true then they are outright lying. Can you cite sources? As a Nord customer I'd certainly like to know if I should cancel my subscription
As an ease of use thing, Linux is way more widely supported than BSD, and because Linux can be catered and built to your needs, its just a weird pick. NordVPN was breached in 2019, not to comment on its privacy abilities. I don't know their quality, but I do personally use it and would switch. Brave is built on Chromium, so it has telemetry built in it. Firefox has alternatives that do not. And Tor is just slow to use.
I personally use Privateinternetacces. Their speeds can sometimes be bad, but on numerous occasions the FBI have requested logs and user data from them, and they simply had none to give: they don't track. Another one that sounds good is NordVPN. Before you buy a lengthy subscription try one month and see how speeds and connectivity works for you.
there's a massive shady company that's going around buying VPN companies, and I think NordVPN is one they've grabbed in the recent past. Independent and truly transparent VPNs are getting fewer by the day. I think Mullvad and ProtonVPN are two of the "good" ones these days. I've been using TorGuard for years but have no clue what is the current position.
Their goal is to make it that NordVPN will be the first thing people think of when they'll start considering some form of online security, not so that they'll stop whatever they're doing right now and buy the product
Wow I have NordVPN also! It provides me with safe internet browsing! I never have to worry about cyber attacks with NordVPN. Millions love it, so would you! Use my promo code HAGELKAISER for a 33% discount for one year!
I, Joseph Robinette Biden Jr., solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute this segue to our sponsor NordVPN. NordVPN supports a variety of VPN protocols and types of encryption and authentication allowing you to dial in the level of privacy you need. They’ve got apps for Windows, MacOS, Android, Linux and Google Chrome, and you can connect up to 5 devices at once using a single account. Their apps include DNS leak protection and IPV6 leak protection as well as their internet kill switch feature which blocks all traffic if the VPN becomes disconnected unexpectedly. Check it out today at Now that’s out of the way let’s continue with our swearing in...
I stopped pirating because I could stop paying for 50 channel cable packages and get everything in one place for one fee. I sucked it up and also got hulu, but now we're creeping up to the old model again. I'm not paying no $50 a month for all this shit. If they're not careful, they're going to turn internet video right back into an analog of cable, and that's going to make a bunch of people like me opt out again for the same reason we did before. And who gets the $10/mo then? That's right, NordVPN.
>This is really suspicious, and it confirms my intuitions that Nord is too good to be true.
>Don't trust NordVPN!!!!
You're a fool to consider this evidence or proof that your intuition is right.
I don't have any evidence that specifically calls out Nord as bad. Just a general distrust of "privacy" VPN providers. All you're really doing is switching who you're trusting from your ISP to some VPN provider. Will that "we collect no logs" VPN provider have a breach and reveal all of your network traffic, maybe. Will it be revealed in the next wikileaks dump that NordVPN is actually a front company ran by the <insert 3 letter agency> to the tune of billions of tax dollars, maybe. Are the VPN provider's end nodes tapped by intelligence agencies? If you're backhauling your traffic to a foreign country, do you really trust that foreign country? Do you really know that said foreign country hasn't required the VPN provider to secretly collect logs on their behalf, of which logs are then sold to your home country? Seems like a pretty shady industry with a flawed past to me.
Yep. This. This so much. Sponsorships get SO ANNOYING.
I got Surfshark because of one guy's sponsorship--it looked great and I needed another VPN. Then everyone else started preaching NordVPN and I developed a deep loathing for it, despite having considered it in the past.
Now my mind is in kind of "Surfshark adds were less numerous, it is superior. It hasn't annoyed me yet. And FUCK NORD."

If you're like me and spend a lot of time shopping online, you probably want to feel secure doing it. That's why I use NordVPN. It an easy, affordable, and secure way to protect your info while online. If you download now and use my special promo code "BananaPants" they'll give you a crazy deal on your first full year. What are you waiting for?
It's disgusting actually. These days you can't tell what's an ad or not. You can't trust anybody. That's why I use NordVPN to help me stay safe online. NordVPN allows you to change your IP address, making you harder to track, securing your privacy. Download NordVPN today and use code ARAD for 20% off your first year.
So the whole 'no logs', 'outside of foreign influence', 'independent audit in progress', 'pro privacy ethos', 'daily warrant canary' and good security and encryption practises are all just one big illusion to fool you into routing your traffic through them.
I agree with being sceptical of an organisation's integrity, but exactly how much do you need to convince you? Because if I looked hard enough, I could find reasons that any website is secretly puppeteered by the NSA.
Also, if I were the NSA, it's much more economical to monitor specific websites of interest and time correlate the requests than it is to own a major VPN provider (As well as all of its competitors, got to catch them all).
NordVPN even offers a 'double VPN' which makes those attacks even harder to pull off. Seems counter intuitive to their goals.
Lets see...
Tor browser is an effective tool, but it doesn’t offer the same level of security and safety that a VPN does. Luckily, you don’t have to choose between the two. You can use Tor browser and a VPN together to combine their powers and maximize your privacy.
[bla bla bla bla] One great example is NordVPN’s Onion over VPN service, which allows you to connect to Tor without Tor browser.

Maybe it has something to do with advertising for NordVPN?
I've got no horse in this race as a non First member but:
>Having Gus repeatedly interrupt the flow of conversation to talk in monotone about something only available in the US, is getting really tiresome.
Honestly... listening to podcasts and youtube videos in general these days is exhausting. Everybody has the same sponsors. Squarespace, Harry's, DollarShaveClub, Skillshare, Meundies, Audible, NordVPN, blueapron etc. Probably a single dozen sponsors are responsible for 80% of the ads I see. RT is a bigger entity than normal, it would be nice to see them pull in some different sponsors.
Say what you will about ads on conventional cable, at least they're not nearly as repetitive.
When Marisha fell from her chair during the fight against Raishan.
When Marisha sneezed so hard she hurt her rib.
When Marisha accidentally hit Liam while doing dope monk shit.
During the C2 recap when Sam had to do a NordVPN ad without having prepared anything.
This rollercoaster of emotion, the plot twist, the love interests this storyline has it all. It feels like the story is coming to a close, but I just cant get enough and hope it continues for a long time. I'm absolutely addicted to the NordVPN saga, will #2 defeat the Ultra Codex or is he a false prophet. The suspense is anguish and joy at the same time.
The only things on this list you should realistically use are DDG and Signal, this is a terrible terrible guide. TOR is not practical for every day use at all, FreeBSD only has safety through obscurity and Brave, NordVPN and ExpressVPN are actively malicious
Edit: If you actually care about privacy, begin by reading The Hitchhiker's guide to Online Anonymity at

Use NordVPN if you want to trust a company that is supposed to protect your privacy but instead gets your data compromised and still tries to hide that away from you. But hey at least you get that month for free and a discount that is too good to pass on.
When not logged in, searching on my pc r/hongkong doesn’t even make the list. Using a VPN to the UK through NordVPN and again r/hongkong doesn’t make the list.
When logged in through the app on my phone r/hongkong it at the top of the list.
When logged in on my pc r/hongkong is first in the list and via VPN also first in the list. I think this is only because I have joined this subreddit already though.
So there is a real possibility that it is being filtered out the search items when not logged in.
With NordVPN not falling for ads is much easier as the service prevents advertising companies to view your history and tailor ads specifically for you. Use code: GIRLPENIS for 60% your first 3 month subscription
It's 10000% inconsistent. I came from CSGO, playing ESEA - was ranked A/A+ in ESEA, hit global in mm. Pugged numerous times against pro/semi pros like roca, rush, etc.
Yes - they would dump on me. But it was never a situation where I couldn't even get 1 shot off. They would hs me, but I'd usually AT LEAST be able to 1-2 shot them even when I die. In Valorant, play against some random diamond kid and I'll hold an angle with an awp and just get strafe 1 tapped. So many times I'm dead without even being able to get ONE shot off.
And this isn't even to mention their notorious routing problems - zero issues with csgo in Chicago, get 30-40+ ping, contact Riot, provide all logs, they basically tell me try VPN. Use NordVPN, literally pick a server 30 miles away from my house and get 10 ping in game.
Valorant is definitely inconsistent and glitchy.

Definitely NordVPN right now. Me and my friends have been using it for a long time for netflix, torrenting, to hide ip's, gaming etc. Just a great vpn really.
>“The server itself did not contain any user activity logs; none of our applications send user-created credentials for authentication, so usernames and passwords couldn’t have been intercepted either,” said the spokesperson. “On the same note, the only possible way to abuse the website traffic was by performing a personalized and complicated man-in-the-middle attack to intercept a single connection that tried to access NordVPN.”
Sorry to interrupt the circlejerk.
I think that we misunderstand the effects of advertisements. I never watch an ad and think "Oh, I'll buy that", but sometimes I need something and when looking at possible options I'm more likely to think of that brand/product as an option. I think a good example of this is how, on youtube, we're bombarded with ads for Squarespace and NordVPN; sure, I don't use either, but if I needed a VPN or a website, those would certainly be services I'd look into because they come to mind immediately when I think of a VPN or website creation service.
Speaking of using a VPN, Id like to tell you about today’s sponsor: NordVPN. Trust NordVPN to protect YOUR data from prying eyes, and circumvent annoying location restrictions. Use offer code ‘APStudents’ for 40% off your first month by following the link in the description.
Cet amendement est déjà classé comme étant l'opération commercial NordVPN la plus rentable !
Plus sérieusement, je me demande comment vous faire les plateformes ou le contenu porno est présent mais minoritaire (exemple Reddit, Twitter..)
I’d like to give a shout-out to our sponsor today, NordVPN. They have military level encryption and are incredibly good at hiding your information and search history. If you want to get 2 months free, there’s a link in the description or you can use code: hentai today!
NordVPN is your best bet right now. Torguard used to be ok, but it's just going down with the years, really. With Nord I have wayyy higher speeds and better connections.
I mainly use it for Netflix, movies, torrenting, gaming and basically for everything and everywhere. They have an offer going right now, too.
Overkill? That's underkill. I hax into NASA mainframe and install WSL2 in Windows on Parallels in MacOS on Virtual Box in Ubuntu on Hyper-V in Windows Enterprise accessed via a dumb terminal connected via Proxy to NordVPN routed through the Pentagon to my Raspberry Pi with Windows on ARM to access Tor to download WinRAR crack.
Ouch but sorry they have a 200gb limit on on their plans and it's £10 extra on all plans to upgrade it to 2000gb? 200gb is a joke of a data cap for home broadband, I've not seen it that low for like 10 years. Dunno if I'm missing something or not.
And their privacy policies can be good but none of the data is encrypted more than whatever site or app you use provides so if the government wants to snoop on you it seems like they could still.
I'd rather just use my normal ISP for much cheaper with no caps and use a VPN like NordVPN on top of it, it's only like £2.50 a month and no ones checking your data with that. And if the police or government asks Nord for your data logs it wont matter because Nord doesn't save anything like that so there'd be nothing to give.
The A&A ISP does sound awesome and if you have lots of money I'd go for them but I feel like I can get a better alternative method for cheaper elsewhere.
