That's why I recommend Camel Camel Camel it's an add on that shows Amazon's previous pricing from the past year. Saw that a router that was on sale for over 80% off was only a 30 dollar price drop.
Of course you shouldn't have to use this, but it's necessary nowadays.
was just about to post this. the laptop has some pretty great qualities and was looking around at prices on amazon. Made me cringe when I saw that picture.
Edit: A lot of people are wondering what laptop it is so here's a link to the laptop
Rawr!!
~~I'm Bacon Bear, and I work for TunnelBear (Proof).~~ Why are you uninstalling?
I thought you loved us. Bear certainly loved you.
EDIT1 (Nov 09th 1530hrs): Bacon must return to actual work - will continue this impromptu AMA later tonight, so long as Fallout 4 isn't released early.. then I'll be wandering the wasteland.
EDIT2 (Nov 10th 0900hrs): I'm back baby! (If you read that in Bender's voice, we're now best friends). I'll answer any more questions and what not that are asked here. Please, my inbox is sore and chaffed. I have Gold Bond Medicated Powder in a holster now because of you. Keep the support questions and what not to here, or preferably to our support forum at .
EDIT3 (Dec 1st): Merry Christmas to me. TunnelBear fired me last Friday, stating generic reasons that I wasn't a good fit for the company. They didn't give specifics as to what happened, however they did take my gaming rig laptop (a work laptop) so not only do I now not have a job to pay for xmas presents for my family, I also don't have a rig to play Fallout 4, or to search online for a new job, nor can I afford to purchase one either! I'm typing this on my cell phone :(

It was not 'meant to be shared' at all. You took advantage of your 10 year old autistic brother and we all know it. Many thanks for deterring AMD from doing cool shit like this again, dick.
So, you're mad because they show you the "list price"? It doesn't say they charged anyone that price. In fact I looked it up on camelcamelcamel and they, in fact, did not raise the price before the sale. They are just showing that you are paying 50% of list. Every manufacturer has ridiculous list/ or msrp prices, that are rarely used.
It's not that they're bad for this, just that they don't have the same $$/coins ratio. If 580s stocks were infinite you would be a fool to go with an NVIDIA card.
edit: I don't know if you should sell your GPU or if it's any good for mining. Compare your hashrate and price t*hey're selling for. Website like this one can help you with that.
Ten dollar android phone at family dollar. There have been many other models etc around the same price point for a bit (lg exceed 2 on amazon/bestbuy comes to mind)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sleekbit.dormi&hl=en
Microphone + camera that transmits to the parent device. when the child hits a certain noise threshold the parent phone plays a noise and then starts feeding the audio, other than that it keeps the audio off (unless you want it to act more like a normal baby monitor). its a lot easier to hide a phone with its screen off plugged into its charger than leaving a laptop in your childs room.
I bought this app when it first came out for $10 when i had my daughter and fell in love with it. android phones are rapidly becoming what the raspberry pi was envisioned with the uses for them growing every year.
Hello all, I just want to state this can be saved as I've saved a machine that got drenched with liquid cooling fluid. The steps I took are as follows:
1) Pull power
2) Drain loop
3) Take build apart
4) Get 99% electronic grade alcohol, bottle form, and pressure spray
5) Get a clean, plastic container to place parts in
6) Place parts in a container, and pour the alcohol on top, let them bathe in it.
7) Use Q-tips to clean parts while under alcohol.
8) Use pressurized alcohol spray to clean spots the Q-tip can't reach.
9) Once cleaned, go over it with a black light if you have one, you'll see specs if you left some behind.
10) Let dry for 3-4 days with a fan blowing on the parts.
11) Test each part
I saved a full machine this way, and it's still kicking ass.
Edit: This is the pressurized alcohol I used:

Buy some Reflectix foil bubble wrap off amazon and cut it to shape of your windows. We use this as curtains and insulation while camping in our truck. Would work great for you. And it’s cheap!!

I gotta say, upgrading from even a 10k rpm HDD to a cheap SSD was the single biggest bang for buck computer upgrade i have ever made in ~20 years of building PCs.

UPDATE. The Amazon staff claimed the correct item would ship and deliver today since i literally live next to their Warehouse, but another big rock arrived instead. Even sent an unpackaging video with proof.
Now the Amazon manager wants me to wait 72 hours without any sort of compensation to investigate their problem. Wasted hours on the phone. Here's both boxes

I will never trust Amazon again for computer parts.

Enjoy your lan guys.
This is the number one reason I use ublock origin on all browsers and installs I setup. Just too many malvertising hosts to risk it these days.
edit: specifying the one I use with link
Well it actually does! the i9-9900KF comes with a similar box and the pattern seems to match.
https://www.amazon.com/Intel-BX80684I99900KF-i9-9900KF-Processor-Unlocked/dp/B07MGBZWDZ
just as an example, there's a 2080 ti w/ waterblock for $1350 vs an overclocked 1080 ti for $1250, a difference of less that 10%
I'd bet that the first one is at least 20% stronger than the second at 4K

Looks like that is the rule already. A quick glance at the sidebar doesn't appear to disallow me linking to the product.
I've been using Private Internet Access for a year or so now (probably because of Logan, I can't remember), and it's been wonderful. When I was on AT&T uVerse my connection was almost twice as fast over the VPN than normally, presumably because of the whole net neutrality and speed throttling thing AT&T was doing.
So, yeah, +1 for PIA.
Still say west tek canvas on Amazon too. https://www.amazon.com/Fallout-76-Power-Armor-PC/dp/B07DN58MX4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1543574669&sr=8-2&keywords=power%2Barmor&th=1

Interestingly, Windows 10 Home only supports 128 GiB of RAM while Windows 10 Pro supports 2 TiB.
In comparison, Linux supports up to 128 TiB.

>LTT promotes them like they are gods
How is that a mark of quality? That just means they pay up. They don't allow torrenting, they're expensive, they're based in Canada which is a country that's known to spy on its citizens. Private Internet Access is a much better alternative.
Edit: While PIA is based in another Five Eyes country, they provide a much better service for much less than TunnelBear. There are alternatives based in countries that aren't known to monitor anywhere near as much, but I don't have any personal experience with them.
> - NordVPN is not being sued by anyone. The lawsuit was filed against Tesonet – a large tech company based in Lithuania.
> - Nobody is alleging that NordVPN clients are being used in a “botnet” (and this would be easy to verify with Wireshark).
> - NordVPN will be conducting an independent, third-party audit to verify their “no logs” claims, which they estimate will be done in the next few months.
>Despite all of the rumors flying around online, there does not appear to be any verifiable issues with NordVPN itself. The controversy with the lawsuit and charges of “data scraping” are exclusive to Tesonet – not NordVPN.
>As noted above, NordVPN still operates from the jurisdiction of Panama, which is a good location for privacy (outside of 14 Eyes). While NordVPN does have verifiable links to Tesonet in Lithuania, it is indeed under Panama jurisdiction and is legally its own entity. NordVPN has a no logs policy and has never been found to be providing information to third parties or state agencies.

Many congresspeople receive huge amounts of campaign money from these large corporations in exchange for political favors. It's legalized bribery. In some cases, the corporations themselves write the laws and just hand them over to their puppet in congress. Congresspeople are also promised lucrative positions in boardrooms of various companies once they retire from public "service." So even a lame duck congressman who isn't facing re-election still has reason to screw over his constituents in exchange for personal gain.

E: I was proven mistaken, you actually can run it on Windows 10 and it takes like 5 minutes to get it done.
How to get it to run -
10: Settings->update&security -> for developers -> turn developer mode on
20: Control panel ->programs->programs and features ->turn windows features On or Off ->Tick the Windows Subsystems for Linux
30:win+r or win+s -> bash
40: wait till it gets downloaded, create the admin account, get the pc to reset.
now you can start it with 'bash' as before
50: sudo apt-get install sl
60: sl
Have fun.
e2: Also, if you are on Windows Insider Program you can get the SUSE instead of Ubuntu, if you so desire, by downloading OpenSUSE or SLES directly from the store instead of step 30 onwards.

I just placed my order (with a bunch of other stuff). Can't wait :D
Most companies require off-site employees to authenticate to a VPN in order to connect to their Network. You block that, you get a lot of Corporations very angry very quickly.
I'm more worried they start blocking popular vpns like private internet access, Nord, TunnelBear, etc, while leaving the protocol enabled. Essentially, they would raise the bar of Entry to those who know how to roll their own VPN.
Yes, it's still in pre-alpha, but there are quite a few playable maps already and I've had no difficulty finding people to play with in my area.
Go here, click on 'Get UT' in the top right and they'll ask you to register, after that you can download the client.

It seems you are possibly discussing piracy or piracy-related topics. Although this is neither against reddit's rules nor our own, it's important to remember to be responsible. Content creators can only create said content because they receive funding from you.
Piracy is an important freedom in our sometimes restrictive societies, and it's important to remember these things before you pass judgement either way:
Lastly, here's a few tips: AdBlock is awesome for hiding fake download links. Deluge is an excellent open-source client that isn't in close cooperation with the MPAA (unlike uTorrent, uninstall it as soon as possible). Oh, and remember: torrenting in itself isn't illegal, and it's definitely not piracy! It's simply a method of transferring files.

Yes, it's Ubuntu. You can try it on a memory stick without replacing your OS if you want to try it
edit: for everyone asking, download the iso from the Ubuntu website, and use this to put it on a bootable memory stick. You then just reboot and run from the memory stick, click try, and bam you're in Ubuntu. If you feel like you want to install or dual-boot, you can do that whilst running it off the memory stick. There will be an icon on the desktop to do it.
Easy
1) Get a VPN software such as FlyVPN
2) Use the credentials given in the free trial page to login
3) Connect to a Russian server from the list of available servers
4) Login to Steam or Origin (Everything will be in Russian though so I hope you've played CS or Dota to understand a bit)
5) Add preferred game to cart, and proceed to pay
6) Profit!
Just install it as a secondary hard drive, don't actually try and boot a different computer with it.
Better yet, get one of these (or similar, there's a ton of them on the market) so you don't even have to open the other computer's case.
FYI it will never go on sale according to the devs
>they're based in Canada which is a country that's known to spy on its citizens
In one sentence, immediately followed by
>Private Internet Access is a much better alternative.
Which is based in the USA which is even worse. Not to mention the customer support horror stories I've heard about people not receiving their login info even weeks after paying. I would strongly recommend against PIA. If you're interested in a VPN, check out /r/Privacy and /u/ThatOnePrivacyGuy's website, to find a VPN that best suits your needs.
Honestly, it's safer to let Microsoft gather your information than install some sketchy-looking tool from a random company registered as a shell in Ireland.
Use an open-source solution like DisableWinTracking if you're worried about safety. Microsoft is a lot less likely to screw you than "Safer-Networking Ltd."
Personally I use Private Internet Access. You're free to use whatever you want of course. Check out
I saw no negative impact on my speeds. On the contrary, my speeds dramatically improved for Netflix and YouTube. If I turn the VPN off mid video the quality tanks and I get buffering like crazy. I turn it back on and it all goes away (My ISP is AT&T).
This is something you'll likely want/need to pay for. I pay $6 a month. To not have buffering on YouTube and Netflix is worth that (as I can't change my ISP and I'm stuck with whatever crap they give me - like everybody else in America).
The 'Free VPNs' are making money somehow. They only asset they have is your data. You do the math...
Edit: Grammar is hard.
I use WinDirStat, it's an open source tool to find large file blobs on your computer.
It takes a while to scan, but I can find stuff with it that no other tool would have found, like a large chunk of rotten pizza below a pillow, with the name "Ubuntu 12.vdi" written on it.
Edit: WinDirStat > TreeSize

I agree with being sceptical of an organisation's integrity, but exactly how much do you need to convince you? Because if I looked hard enough, I could find reasons that any website is secretly puppeteered by the NSA.
Also, if I were the NSA, it's much more economical to monitor specific websites of interest and time correlate the requests than it is to own a major VPN provider (As well as all of its competitors, got to catch them all).
NordVPN even offers a 'double VPN' which makes those attacks even harder to pull off. Seems counter intuitive to their goals.
That is not needed
TIPS TO CLEAN A NEW PC
Download/Install Revo Uninstaller, You can use https://ninite.com/ - 7zip, ImgBurn, SumatraPDF, OpenOffice, VLC Media Player are also good
Once Revo is installed, use that to uninstall unwanted programs.
What Revo does is not only uninstall the program like Norton but also removed all the files related to in the root directories which does not happen with a general uninstall. Norton really is like a Virus so it is important to do this.
You can also uninstall pretty much everything else also if you like, save the Microsoft certified programs, rest are not necessary but use your own judgement.
Type "Msconfig" in Windows Search/Run, Go to Startup Tab, if it tells you to open new Window, click on that(windows 10).
You can disable pretty much everything, only enable something like "Realtek Audio", etc. Turn off stuff like Skype.
Now when your PC turns on it won't take 30 minutes to boot up, this is also great for PC users with old computers. I bet most people who read this will have 20+ startup programs running.
For Users of Older PC's or even new ones
Go to http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/index.aspx
Go through your Programs list in Revo Uninstaller.
Search each program in Should I Remove it, You will likely have 5-10 virus programs with an old PC.
FUCKING 5930K FOR THE PRICE OF AN I3. WTFFFF
Windows 10 takes care of that.
Edit: since so many people fail to know how to use google here is how to use the virtual desktops in windows 10
Previous comment got removed due to an np link. Anyways
I was mostly going off a specific person's comments, but the ones I know so far is that the weapons seem to come from Ironbelly Studios and a particular building (Mylta Power Building) is noted to be a slightly modified version of Old Train Factory (and by modified, I mean with less foliage and lack of a train). That building is also noted to function as pretty much an entire map by itself instead of being put into a sandbox (and also needing heavy downgrades to be used in a game)
...Downvoted for a giveaway? Thanks guys, great way to make me post here again :P
I can't play the closed beta right now since my desktop is at my new home (we're moving) so I figured I'd give it to someone else but wow.

Look at all these tabs I have open and tell me that it uses a lot of ram.
It helps that I switched from AdBlock Plus to uBlock, which is way faster and uses far less memory, even less than FF with out any ad blocker.
E: I'm agreeing with you, btw.
The companies, they all "pledged" to take part. Facebook did. Google did. Amazon did. Pornhub did. Reddit did. Half of them have their names prominently displayed over at . Along with other giants, from Atlassian, through Dropbox, Github, SourceForge, up to Zenmate.
Guess what. I'm using Dropbox all day long for work. No change whatsoever. Zenmate? Not even a banner. Github? Nothing I noticed. SourceForge? A single sentence in an orange frame. Facebook? Zilch. Google? Zilch. Amazon? Zilch. Even Reddit just pixelated their logo and that's pretty much it. Stack Overflow? A single sentence. Wikipedia? Nothing.
Other websites? A measly pop-up or a banner and that's all. People just close it, how is that different from "Subscibe now" or "Here's an ad for you?"
How is that supposed to garner any awareness? This won't interest the public. Seeing how everyone kept hyping up the July 12 date, I thought we're going to see blackouts, disruptions of service, something that would make the general public stop for the moment and think. Instead, I've seen more involvement from individual subreddits than from internet giants... Quite disappointing, to be honest.
> Why pay if you can get it for free?
Really though. Why pay if you can get it for free? Especially in 3rd world countries where gaming is a luxury. Even if you say it's "supporting the developers", who really thinks of something as noble as that? Pay for shit all you want but if you can get it for free, there's really no reason for paying.
(Note: I actually pay for my games.)
Yes. That's exactly it.
I don't know why, though. I've had TunnelBear installed for a while and have not launched it in a while either, so it couldn't have been a recent update. Only recently has it started prompting me for firewall access every time I start things like Chrome. Chrome mostly; as some of the rest of my programs are not prompted every time they're launched (e.g. Discord, Steam, etc).

He is simply using the #nopaidmods while saying he supports it. These people are like money hawks, the are watching to see if they can get away with these greedy practices.
Already got a N3DSXL, so no worry of that for me. DS and 3DS emulators have been notoriously rubbish, unfortunately. Citra seems to be the best one so far, but it's still quite a way off.
I've tried probably half a dozen VPNs or so, and Nord has been the worse in my experience. Terrible speeds (I get 150 down normally, would only get 20-30 with Nord on the closest server to my location which was like a few hours away). Inconstant connection, always dropping.
Maybe they changed a few things since I tried it about a year ago, but I wasn't a big fan.
Can't say much about TunnelBear, haven't tried it since I'm happy with my current provider. But here's a good site to compare all VPN providers, and their characteristics
They're a Chinese subsidiary now. A lot of the core Opera devs left to create Vivaldi which is more true to the original Opera mission. It's still young though but it seems promising.

You might want to have a look at GameSave Manager. It'll take care of migration, for sure. Plus, it's free (and portable, too)!
Edit: A huge thanks and warm feels to /u/ravstar52 for the gold! I don't deserve it at all, though I am incredibly grateful still. :-)
Also, I realize that I'm late to reply, but I'd like to take a moment to plug the PC Gaming Wiki, which has information on where various games store their data, and plenty of other things, like how to run older games on a modern PC. GameSave Manager can do a lot, and it's wonderful software, but PCGW's database of game fixes and tweaks has saved my gaming life many times too, and I'd be remiss if I didn't recommend it to you all (and to you, future Google searcher).
There’s a Sony Trinitron CRT that is 160hz with 2304 x 1440 resolution.
It’s the holy grail of CRT’s.

I have the 60hz model and it looks fantastic.
it's a prebuilt so.....

try replacing imgur with filmot. works for me.
i.imgur.com/hgwtphC.jpg => i.filmot.com/hgwtphC.jpg
edit: web-capture makes a pic of the link you put in. usefull for gaming sites/forums that are blocked
edit2: if filmot.com is blocked try filmot.org thanks to /u/marlospain
Here, I’ll save everyone’s time by posting the link to the app so nobody else has to sit through a four minute video with horrible commentary that could have easily been 20 seconds long. Holy hell.
You can also use a utility tool such as CPU-Z to find out the motherboard model number. That saves you from opening up the computer and go looking with a flashlight. Or from finding the box that you hopefully stored somewhere.
According to this article, all our preorder bashing has actually worked. Now granted I don't know how legit the article is, but it goes to show that all our yelling and circlejerking is working.

That's completely false. It was based on this https://steamdb.info/app/208650/subs/ showing that "Iron Galaxy Devs Comp" has "2 months ago" written next to it, when you can clearly see it says "Last updated" on the column where it says 2 months ago. Idiots assumed it means Arkham Knight was added to the package 2 months ago. Copy-pasting my response from elsewhere:
>Bullshit. Check the history for that package (https://steamdb.info/sub/45433/ and click "History")
>You can clearly see they created "Iron Galaxy Studios Dev Comp" on May 29, 2014. They also added Batman: Arkham Knight to the package on the same day. The "2 months ago" only shows that the package "Iron Galaxy Studios Dev Comp" was updated 2 months ago. It existed before that, and it included Arkham Knight before that. Please stop spreading false information.
An update from Mafia III.
A message to our PC players
10/6/2016
UPDATE [10/6 / 6PM PT]: We currently have a patch running here at the studio that includes 30, 60, and unlimited frames-per-second options in the video menu, among other improvements for the PC version of Mafia III. We’re verifying the patch now to ensure everything is working as expected. If everything goes well, we expect the update to go live this weekend. We will be keeping the PC community up-to-date on the status of the patch throughout the weekend and thank you for all the feedback!

Computer Science graduate / cryprocurrency miner here! Part of this is technically incorrect and misleading, I'd like to attempt to clarify. The sole reason why mining is "hot" ATM has everything to do with the flash up-rise and subsequent downfall of Ethereum.
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/
Ethereum is "memory hard" or to put it another way, requires a 2.2 GB dataset (currently, it grows over time) to mine, making it "resistant" to ASIC's that "ruined" Bitcoin mining so quickly.
So you NEED GPU's to mine ETH and it turns out the problem is memory and compute bound. While the specifics get muddy here, basically for the time being AMD cards seem to have a more favorable memory architecture and as someone who has had to deal with NVIDIA Linux drivers, I can say that I'd take AMD / OpenCL any day of the week over NVIDIA for mining at least (even though I exclusively mine on EVGA 1060's and am rocking a 1080 in my personal rig).
It's important to note that:
A) Ethereum lost half its value this week
B) A soon to be pushed network difficulty update is likely to knock the RX 460/470 miners down my 15-20% (reportedly) and the mining community at large is switching over to the GTX 1060 because it's the next cheapest card. And yes the 460's are sold out.
This 100%. Get the giant attenas, I just keep like a spare 5 on hand. Whenever a friend for whom I build or family member has consistent wifi or bluetooth issues, swap them in, if it goes away send them the amazon link then have them return mine when theirs arrives: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082SHKT3Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_NC1P7T15JZCH1AT48XMF (just the most common one, buy what makes sense for you - this one is huge, like 1/3rd the height of most cases)

Considering my account info was stolen during the recent NordVPN leak, I wouldn't trust them installed on my computer, much less for keeping my data private. I am still getting alerts from time to time from various accounts of mine where people are trying to reset my passwords.

Yes it is.
We offer a free service which gets you 500mb of free data a month. You can use this for however you wish (minus P2P/Torrent traffic).
If you tweet about us, you get a bonus 1GB of additional data, and you can do this each and every month.
EDIT: Our premium plans start at $4.16/mo (billed as $49.99 for the year) and have no data caps. Our monthly plan is $6.99 which also has no data limits.
EDIT2: If you kids would like an AMA or Q&A with the TunnelBear team, I can arrange it (but am about to head out for lunch!).
The real kicker is I have a monitor mount I picked up off of amazon for that exact reason....it has been sitting in my office for a few weeks unopened.
Looked through about 50 pages are garbage headphones. This is the closest I could find. Please don't buy these they're trash.
I believe that BFME 2 is support by my main man down under, u/ScottKevill .
If there is currently a game you want to play that is no longer hosted online, be sure to check GameRanger. It's absolutely awesome, and supports thousands of old PC games.
So I did the math for the potato joke.
I used Walmart 10lb bag of golds which is ~10lb/$4. I googled the average medium potato mass as 6oz. So for $300 we get 750lb of potatoes or 2,000 medium potatoes.
I googled the average power in potatoes but it was a little confusing. They said that raw potatoes produce about 0.5V but boiled gave around 5V! But boiling is cheating since you probably expend too much energy. I did find elsewhere that a potato produced 0.8W of power so now we're cooking!
So 2,000 potatoes at 0.8W is about 1.6kW. Even with a gigantic margin of error for potato size and produced power, the potatoes product far more power than any console or PC uses even at peak load. Unless you have some crazy rig or something.
Check this out if you decide to stick with Windows 10, https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/
Edit: It blocks ALL data collection from Microsoft, many options if you wish to leave some things enabled although I don't know why you would want too.
Will definitely post underside pictures when I get back from work. I used 1 inch cup hooks I had from Walmart a couple years ago and Velcro ties from Amazon to tie up the bulky sections tightly. Extension cable is placed under using 3M mounting squares.
Edit: Ask and you shall receive.

Thanks for all the support everyone. Really didn’t expect it to explode but I think the cup hook method really paid off. You can move them whenever you would like and the cables come out easy if you need to rearrange the setup. The entire process took about 30-45 minutes.
I assume you've researched the card well, but I'll still throw in some tips.
I actually think most of those games have better visuals than CoD Ghost.
I mean look at it
https://imgur.com/a/ENOLm#2
Those textures are ugly, all my eyes see is blur.
Now look at how defined and appealing these drawings are
http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/40800/ss_652092068cc0d5e75fe3f199ad1bbc395806c1f2.1920x1080.jpg?t=1386730867
Pixel graphics of those indie games are 10 times better than cod ghost's graphics.
The "bullet time" in this demo just made me realize that Super Hot would be great in VR. It's a basically a bullet-time game where time only passes when you move, and slowly.
