This is the first official live stream in SamsungVR, be sure to open the VR app, or download the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.video360
This stream should be up all weekend, so check in and see the performances all around you.
Install the VR version of Samsung VR using the Oculus app on your phone. Then install the companion app from the Play Store. Together they should cover every Samsung VR usage scenario.
Just search Gear VR on the Play Store on in the Galaxy Store.
Take Samsung VR as a starting point. But as I've said, Samsung has abandoned the platform.
Did you know you can down some Samsung VR content from a regular app?
Here is the official, non-VR app from Samsung: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.video360
I downloaded that video from there earlier today, but haven't had time to watch it.
>dl Samsung VR the milk vr replacement, but i cannot find that on the play store anywhere?
It's one of the very first apps, so it's near the very back of the list. Bring up the oculus store from inside the headset, then quickly swipe through all the dozens of pages of apps until you're all the way to the right, and then it's like one or two pages over to left.
Alternately, go through Samsung picks list instead of the store, and you'll have a smaller list to scroll through.
Or...try bringing up your phone's web browser while not in the headset, and point it to this link and try to install from there.
If you don't want to create a custom app, you can use the mobile version of Samsung VR to control the Gear VR version: https://samsungvr.com/portal/content/gear_vr_synchronization
The guide is designed with multiple Gear VR's in mind, but I suspect that it would also work with just one. ~~The only problem is that because the mobile version of Samsung VR only works with Samsung phones, you need two Samsung phones~~.**
(**sorry, that part was wrong -- you can run the Samsung VR mobile app on any phone, so rather than two Samsung phones in particular, you just need one other Android phone/tablet made by whoever)
You could also do this with just one phone by opening up a video using the mobile version and then clicking the little icon that instructs it to play in Gear VR mode, which then prompts you to insert the phone into the headset before it starts playing.
I just had this problem an hour ago... seems like Samsung has renamed it to "Samsung VR".

Sorry to shill, but I want to mention that http://SamsungVR.com is going to be live-streaming the debate, too, in 360 for viewing in your browser, mobile application on iOS or Android, or various VR headsets such as the Gear VR or Oculus devices.
Thanks!
There's a non VR version of the app which can be used for downloading and deleting videos.

Samsung VR supports spatial audio. More details here: https://samsungvr.com/portal/content/content_specs (scroll down for the audio section). And you can control playback using the mobile companion app.
You can try downloading it while not in vr mode using this app

It's not a game and there's no action, but according to those who've seen it, it's one of the most amazing things you can ever experience.

Visit that link on your phone, click the eyeglasses icon in the upper left corner and put the phone into your Gear VR. You'll experience the eclipse. This one is one of the best because you're outside the city where you can look all around and see the sunset all around you.
. .
You can't see the surround sunset on the following one because it's in a city where buildings obscure the horizons.

However, this one is more fun because it's like a party where you can hear adults and children yelling all around you when totality occurs.
Note: For this to work you need the Samsung VR app installed on your phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.samsung.android.video360&hl=en
You can always watch the videos on your phone or computer monitor, but in VR, you're really immersed in the environment. A lot of eclipse viewers focus on the sun, but what's happening around you is also amazing, especially that glowing 360 sunset that appears all around you on all horizons. It doesn't last long and then it's gone never to be seen again unless you're lucky enough in 2020 to be in the right location to catch the next one that starts out in Texas or you track down one that occurs after 2020.
It's in the standard oculus app. I use 'Samsung VR' which you can download from the google play store and then use in the Oculus app. Here's a link :)
This is the app's play store page. If, like me, you don't have access to the app normally (due to your location) you can download the Hola App and then download it via the app store when browsing from the US. Here's a guide to getting the app. Then you should be able to play video's from the moon! Shoot me a message if you need a hand :)
Try this

If you still can't then your phone isn't compatible.
