If you have a samsung, install "SideSync" today and enable it so that if this ever happens to you you aren't totally out of luck.
EDIT: spelled sidesync with an H incorrectly. Also here's a link.
For the computer: https://www.samsung.com/us/sidesync/ For the phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30&hl=en_US
Not supported on all devices.
Edit: I have failed you. Didn't test the app before making this post I was so excited. I can install the app on my Pixel 2 XL, but I can only get the app to prompt for permissions, then it crashes and won't reopen until you clear the data. Might be a bug letting me install it from the play store (I used a computer), but for now it's not working for me.
Good news everyone! I loved using Samsung Side sync on my S8+, and was always bummed that I couldn't use it on my Pixel devices. I just happened to check randomly today and was able to install the app on my Pixel 2 XL.
For those who don't know, Side Sync is an application that allows you to "sync" your phone to your desktop. You get all your notifications on your computer, can make calls, even use your entire phone (through screen mirroring) on your desktop. It has a wired and wireless feature, and the companion computer app (Windows and Mac) can be found here.
That link keeps taking me to the sign in page (I assume you used the install link). Alt link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30&hl=en_GB
Seems avaliable for my XZP but you seem to be having some issues so I'll hold off for now. Currently using Cortana (and previously Pushbullet) to see and reply to notifications on my PC. Did try Vysor for screen mirroring which worked well.
I use SideSync: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30&hl=en
Haven't had any issues transferring files to and from the PC, though I haven't tested out transferring large amounts of files.
Last year I started using the AFL Live App with the free membership.
I use Samsung Side Sync to stream to my HTPC
For the most part the streaming was great and the image quality was the best option so far I have found.
AFLdude is the alternative option that has so downsides with the lag.
Can you see the screen? Or is it all black? I had a similar problem once but the screen was completely black so i couldn't see anything. If you can see the screen it would be much easier.
I had the same issue with an old Galaxy my friend had broken. ADB and Fastboot didn't help anything and USB debugging was disabled. What did work was a program from the play store that I installed on the phone remotely. The app has a PC version to and when you attached the phone to the PC with a USB cable it showed the screen on the computer. I used that to enable USB Debugging.
If you can see the screen you could use Something Like this and just plug and a mouse and re enable the USB debugging.
Sidesync 3.0 full control of your recent Samsung devices using your computer. You can see your phone's screen and interact with it using the computer's keyboard/mouse.
I know there's a lot of hate towards Samsung, but this is one app that I use daily.
SideSync. It was great at first, basically just gave you your phone on Surface/laptop. But then it stopped connecting, would lag really bad, stuff like that.
I haven't used it in about a year, though. So they may have fixed it.
Edit: Link if you're interested, but looks like it hasn't been updated since January of 2018.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
usually just flow or t-mobile digits(call/texts works with the phone turned off)
but sometimes sidesync if i want to check my snapchat & others
Smart Switch for PC might work, it says it can make backups
I was using MirrorOp and while it's great and everything... I just found another solution.
I have a Galaxy S7 Edge so there's a thing that Samsung made called SideSync and I tried it .. it works perfectly as well... and best of all it's FREE!!!
First, get the PC app here.. http://www.samsung.com/us/sidesync/
Then get the Android app here.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Run both of them and connect each other... Click on "Phone Screen" once connected.
By default.. phone screen will be seen on PC screen only.. but that'd defeat the purpose of playing in VR so you could enable the Presentation Mode on the SideSync (on PC via the down arrow button on the top left of the PHone screen)
Sit back and enjoy the VR experience while mirroring it on PC screen...
If you have access to Wi-Fi (only works on Wi-Fi, I think) try Samsung's SideSync app on both the phone and an Android tablet (might have to be a Samsung tablet, not sure).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Then mirror your phones screen to your tablet screen. It works better than chromecast (at least from my experience mirroring to a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2" tablet running Android 4.x with my Note 4 running Android 5.0.1).
You might even be able to SideSync to a PC and then hook the 90" TV up to the PC as a second monitor. Worth a try because, yes, that would be really awesome and would attract 2,000 people. :-)
If you have a Samsung phone, you can use SideSync to control your phone's screen and use your native PC keyboard and Mouse to control it. It's like VNC or RDP from a computer to the phone's screen. It works over USB or wireless.
The Android PlayStore link is a bad URL at the 2nd link. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30&hl=en
But the first link worked fine. I got the APK.
Thanks.
I have an S9+ and I'm using it right now. I think I pulled it from the Samsung store. I don't install APKs unless I need to.
Edit: It's in the Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Edit 2: Weird, I see it's not compatible. I'll see if there's a legit installer. I've never transferred or installed an APK for this.
I saw where someone mentioned Sidesync but you'd have no way to activate it even if you installed it from the web play store.
If you get the USB adapter from the box, you may be able to connect a USB kb/mouse if you'd know where to click or type...
Sorry, that sucks.
It looks like you're still able to get on the playstore. If so, dude, you're golden. Download sidesync and you can project the screen on your pc using wifi or usb.
Or wait... None of this should be necessary if you can unlock the phone. You can just plug it into your computer and copy the Android folder with all the app data over from the device... unless I'm missing somehthing here
This is why it's important to be specific when you ask for help, but no harm done.
What you're looking for is screen-mirroring. Sidesync is pre-installed on some devices, but it looks like you need to be able to enable it on your phone for it to work. It does look pretty simple though, and if your phone's keyboard is default you might even be able to look at a paused image and carefully touch where things should be.
If you have speech recognition enabled, and have a really mild American accent, that might make it even easier.
Most of that was for iOS/required additional hardware.
The YouTube video about how to set up OBS was VERY good however (I currently use OBS to stream desktop games and I picked up some new things!)
One thing that was linked was this app, I'm going to try it as soon as I get home... seems promising.
Thanks for the link! That post didn't come up when I tried searching this sub.
Hey thanks so much, sorry for the late reply. Work has been killing me. So I went to the google play store and it's only giving me an option to install on my devices. Am I missing something here?
This is the page I'm on. I dont have marshmallow installed. I'm a tech idiot tbh. Just one code I have to put in to unlock. This is super frustrating btw. I don't think I'll ever buy another phone without external storage.
Samsung has a screen.. mirror-ing? software on the Play Store. Should be able to install it but executing it might be another story.. . Best of luck! SideSync
I think Chromecast support "broke" with Android 5.x. "Broke" meaning it might work but not very well.
Another option...If you have access to Wi-Fi (only works on Wi-Fi, I think) try Samsung's SideSync app on both the phone and an Android tablet (might have to be a Samsung tablet, not sure).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Then mirror your phones screen to your tablet screen. It works better than chromecast (at least from my experience mirroring to a Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2" tablet running Android 4.x with my Note 4 running Android 5.0.1).
Then you might be able to Chromecast your tablet screen to your huge TV. This is assuming the tablet is on Android 4.x. Just a thought.
You might even be able to SideSync to a PC.
If you have a Samsung phone (4.4 upwards), download SideSync for your phone and also for your PC (not for Mac, sorry). It replicates your phone screen on your computer and you can use the mouse like your finger and your physical keyboard to type. You can also enable the phone screen to be used as an input so you can swipe through photos and show people things from your phone easily.
Samsung apps aren't usually too great but this one actually works really well and is ultra-responsive considering you can connect via wifi. (USB connection is also an option but unnecessary unless your wifi is crap.)
It's perfect for showing people photos (for example) stored on your phone straight on your monitor. (Also good for Tinder sessions. I'm so single...)
try search BBQScreen Remote Control in google play store, there're others similar apps recommended.
I never tried any of those apps.
just found Samsung has this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Sidesync by Samsung
Edit: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30 I think it's one of the best. Full phone screen support too.
If you have a Samsung phone you can use SideSync.
There's more features than that, like expandable memory, Samsung before gave me a free 256GB sd card. The s-pen. Other Samsung features like Knox(can be used to system wide ad blocking, that usually needs root) or s-cloud, i once lost my phone & i just go to their find my phone site & hit "backup my phone to the cloud". Samsung pay, works pretty much on any terminal doesn't need a special one like Android pay. I can also pay using the iris scanner, you can't use 5t face unlock for mobile payments. Screen is higher resolution & brighter. You get Oculus GearVR, better than Google's at this point. For on the go stuff you can use Dex work station, i heard they're planning to run Desktop Linux on the note, works great with android games & emulators as well. The camera & live focus(portrait mode) is way better than the op5t. Samsung is way more customizable without root especially with substratum, you can theme 3rd party apps (5t is more customizable if you root, more roms are available, but have to get around safety net magisks or some apps will refuse to work if they detect root). Note works on every carrier so you have more freedom, 5t only works with gsm ones like TMobile or att in the US. Customer service is not like google but better than OnePlus which really sucks, plus there's a Samsung center here in LA which is convenient for me, they once replaced my battery for free in less than 1hr. And if you have other samsung devices they work well together, they have their own built-in "air drop" wifi-direct functionalities that transfer files offline pretty fast & mirroring & continuity is so easy, can also use it Unlock my non-samsung pc
So many more differences to name on the note, also some on the 5t like faster cord charging & lighter skin
if the only reasons you have are the 2 you stated, then no it's not worth it.
Water resistant; yes I've used my phone underwater with no case a few times. I dont recommend it though lol but I've accidentally got it wet, & just the peace of mind is nice, before i would kill someone if they wet my phone.
Wireless charging is worth it for me. I have a magnetic fast wireless in the car that doubles as a stand, I've never plugged a cord to my phone on my car in like 2 years. It's so much more convenient than plugging & unplugging everytime, no more fumbling or worrying about broken cords, plus it's safer if you suddenly need to charge your phone while driving
I got this one on sale before, been using it my past 2-3 phones, just make sure always get the "fast charge" ones & more preferably with a cooling fan
FX file Explorer. My favorite file Explorer.
My Knox is amazing. It lets you run two entirely independent Android environments simultaneously that only use the resources of one. It's a great feature that stock android rooted or modded can't do at all.
Let's you play YouTube in the background, in a floating window or with the screen off
SideSync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Gives you full control of your phone on your PC to get notification chat call or even drag and drop files to and from your phone
Forcedoze enables done 2. 0 style doze mode
It needs to be granted system permissions using ADB though.
button mapper

I have mine set so my back key when held drops my quick toggles, then another tap and my notifications pop up. My recents key when tapped twice switches between my last two apps, my volume up key twice toggles my flash light and my volume down key twice open voice command for easy one handed use.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tengu.sharetoclipboard
That should be built in. I just literally used it to get you the link.
Opengur works better than imgur since it'll give you a notification with a button you can tap to immediately copy the link of whatever you just uploaded.
GPS and all sorts of sensor tools and automatically downloads AGPG data every day for faster GPS connection.

Thumb jam from the galaxy apps store. There's a free demo. Our phones are the only ones that can handle audio processing as well as the iPhone. It's really cool to play with and it's great for putting down stock android purists.
Make sure you wiggle and tilt the device when you're playing guitar or cello or whatever with Thumb jam. It sounds amazing.
Sound Camp is a full on digital audio workstation
Disconnect pro is designed specifically for the S7 and the phone. In fact it was free when the phone first came out. It uses Knox to create a fire wall similar to a host file mod to globally block trackers and ads.
It's on sale right now for 25 bucks but it's usually 40 for a lifetime subscription or like 5 bucks a month. It's seriously worth every penny since you just set it and forget it and it makes everything load faster since it bypasses the ads and it saves data too
There's a system ui update if you search for good lock on the galaxy play store that adds all sorts of customization options to your status bar.
https://i.imgur.com/H9dxn6q.jpeg
I have my notifications categorized and behind you can see my recents page where I have my app tray pinned to the bottom swiped up. It lets me switch to close and open apps from the same place which is a lot easier.
Status
Let's you customize your notification bar. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.james.status
Between that status the good lock system ui update and the harming engine you can get your phone to look any way you want. You can even get the the ingredients software on PC or Mac and design your own theme and icon pack with your PC and then output an apk.
You basically don't need root to do anything these days.
Motion photo Sharer from play store. Converts your motion photos into gifs
Galaxy button light 2 let's you customize the time out time for your capacitive button lights or you can do like me and keep them off forever.
These are from the galaxy apps store. (if you can't find anything in the play store look there instead.)
Samsung music app
It's the only music app on Android capable of live volume normalization since it uses the SAPA engine
Samsung voice recorder
Has great features not possible with other recording apps
Samsung video
Video editor
That's all I can think of in terms of must haves.
I scrolled up and down that page a dozen times looking for the desktop download link. I have no idea why, but the links did not appear in Firefox for me. To save others the trouble:
PC: http://www.samsung.com/us/sidesync/SideSync_4.3.0.92.exe
Mac: http://www.samsung.com/us/sidesync/SideSync_4.0.0.15096_4.dmg
Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Do you also utilize the SideSync app? I find myself using it a lot esp when i charge the phone
I put the link in my original post. But I'll also put it here.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30&hl=en
SideSync. I don't think you even need USB. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30&
While we're here.
For android users you can use apps such as SideSync(Samsung Exclusive) or ApowerMirror to control Android from PC. Follow it up by using AutoHotKey or Murgee Autoclicker and then just come back and reset box every few minutes.
Samsung SideSync is awesome! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
How about this link?

It shouldn't matter but I am on T-Mobile
Have you tried Samsung SideSync? It mirrors your phone's screen on your desktop.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Here is the play store link
From the description doesnt seem like its for Samsung devices only
I haven't tried it yet, but SideSync should do that over WiFi. There is a companion PC app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Did you try SideSync? We recommend it to our streamers when using a Samsung device.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.sidesync30
Yes, the website looks super outdated, but power through to the download, and let it update to SideSync 4.
This lets you access your phone / notifications from your desktop, as well as listen to any phone audio, not to mention transfer files quickly!
I can't believe I haven't heard of this software before, I've had an S7 Edge and S6, and just found it today, thought I would share the find.
P.S. - You can access your phone when it's in your pocket via Wi-Fi or USB!
