Aside from the obvious physical inspection, if you get a chance to test it first, run Yet Another MultiTouch Test by Real Fiction Factory (there are many multitouch test apps, this happens to be the first one I ever used and it still requires no special permissions).
Run the paint tester and make sure the screen has no dead spots. (just run your fingers all over the screen and make sure the colored dots pop up all over and there are no unresponsive/less responsive areas) I love/loved my G2, but their achilles heel is the touchscreen tends to develop dead spots.
Buy a Chromecast. It is $35 and let's you stream Netflix,Youtube,HBO Go and lots more to your TV. I love mine, it hasn't caused me any problems since I bought it.

It was removed from Software but You can get an app that provides similar functionality; After a Quick Google I found this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ginzburgconsulting.headsetmenu
It appears to do what the Built-in feature use to do(but in the Notification shade) but can't comment If it does or not because I've not tested it.
Not in the US, sorry. But on Gearbest (chinese site i ordered from a lot, my bro even got a phone there) its 160 euros for the 16GB, What is the difference between Overseas Edition and the International? (30 Euro difference) http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_467446.html?wid=4 http://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_437569.html?wid=4 I took a look at the specs, looks great plus a fingerprint sensor, yay!
KitKat is literally the easiest version to install xposed. You don't need any files to flash just install the apk, click install and reboot
http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
So, it looks like it was taken down. I downloaded a copy when I saw it, and will upload it to my Drive should anyone want it.
Edit: or you can download yourself from LG. Thanks to the xda dudes who found this.
Second edit: Dammit. It was for the older kernel. Disregard. I'll go back to my original plan
Final edit: OP delivers. Here is the file.
I ran into the same issue rooting my D801.
The solution that worked for me was to install the LG Mobile Support Tool. Once installed, connect your phone to your computer (ensure USB debugging is enabled and the LG drivers are installed), open the Support Tool, hit 'Options' and select 'Upgrade Recovery'.
Once the Upgrade Recovery process is complete, open StumpRoot and you should then be able to use the BruteForce method to root your phone.
As the others have said, use AdAway. It edits your hosts file, which basically prevents the ads from even reaching the server, as opposed to AdBlock Plus, which is actively running in the background. So, because of this, AdAway isn't running an processes in the background.
I noticed that too. Use this, then flash the zip w twrp. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n5rvb.nexus5realvolumebooster
Set speaker volume to 69. Its the loudest it can go without distortion.
P.S. App says its for the Nexus 5 but it works on CM
To solve some of your problem, root the phone and get the app "ROM Toolbox Pro". Us it to remove any nonsense AT&T apps. I prefer it to Titanium Backup (paid) because when I tried to remove the AT&T apps from my LGG2, it futzed around, where ROM Toolbox Pro just removed them.
I haven't tried the hotspot thing, but there are apps to do it.
FM Radio. AT&T disabled it (NOW they want to have it included in their new phones, silly folks). You can try one of the apps on Google Play called SPIRIT radio, to see if it will make your radio work. The author of Spirit gives you a long trial period to see if it works for you. The app costs about $11 in Canada.
My D800 (AT&T LGG2) is being run in Canada; I bought it on Ebay, and it works fine. I rooted mine, but am happy as a pig in poop with the original ROM.
He can change to a different keyboard. I personally prefer the plain Google keyboard. Has the mic button in the upper right. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin
Can you see the screen? Or is it all black? I had a similar problem once but the screen was completely black so i couldn't see anything. If you can see the screen it would be much easier.
I had the same issue with an old Galaxy my friend had broken. ADB and Fastboot didn't help anything and USB debugging was disabled. What did work was a program from the play store that I installed on the phone remotely. The app has a PC version to and when you attached the phone to the PC with a USB cable it showed the screen on the computer. I used that to enable USB Debugging.
If you can see the screen you could use Something Like this and just plug and a mouse and re enable the USB debugging.
Light Flow used to be my go to for notification light management. However as I indicated in my post, it seems to be broken after the update.
I'd love to find a solution as well.
Not by default that I am aware of but if you get Light Flow (I got the paid version, can't remember what limitations are in the free one) then you can customise the LED notification, vibration and notification sounds to your hearts content - how long for, how frequent, patterns, colours, just about everything. Happy to help if you have any trouble setting it up.

I've had great experience with Open Camera as well as the modified LG G2 camera that works on AOSP.
Try those out.
It's certainly possible. You may find it breaks root, however. If I'm going to lose root, I'd prefer to do it intentionally.
However, if you're running Xposed (which I couldn't do stock without) you will have to yank that prior to taking the OTA. This gets messy quickly.
Xposed now officially supports Lollipop so just download it from the official site: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer
G3 Tweakbox includes a lot of mods including what you're asking about. Get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53618487&postcount=3
Depending on how vital it is to get notifications asap, you could look into one of the several ways/apps to turn your wifi/data off when the screen is off, turning on periodically to grab notifications before going back off. Something like Deep Sleep Battery Saver or, if you already have it: Tasker.
Otherwise, I think under Settings>Wifi>Advanced there's an option to "Avoid Poor Wifi" or something like that, but combined with a poor cell signal, I don't know if that's really much of a solution.
Hell with that, order these ones from Monoprice. Best earbuds under $10 I've ever found. They typically fluctuate between $5 and $8. The best under $20 are almost certainly the Xiaomi Pistons V3.
No, try to download the app from https://www.apkmirror.com/ or a related, half-way serious, page. Then install the apk directly ( I guess you have to enable in android to allow installing apps from unkown sources).
You could also try to deactivate and reactivate the google play store, play services and related apps, so android have to load the files again. Android might take a few minutes to download and install all needed files in the backgound. Maybe clearing cache or data coudl be enough. Try first deleting data and then deactivating/reactivating google apps.
You should try FreedCam. I no longer have my G2, but from what i recall, dng was working is aosp roms (It's also listed as compatible in GitHub page. Just be sure to download some of the lateste beta/alpha version (4.1.xxx IIRC), which unfortunately you will have to search for yourself since the project has been stoped since the summer, the xda thread is locked and there are no links there. On the bright side, it seems the dev got back on the project since I'm enrolled on the beta via playstore and received 2 or 3 updates this week.
Edit: Found a link
First, check if you have the option in Settings > Display > Notification LED > Battery Charging. Or maybe Settings > General > Battery If that doesn't work I would try rooting, install Xposed framework, install Disable charging LED module: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.boblc.disablechargingled
There might be other modules that can control the LED.
When you visit the website, click on the big icon on the middle of the page and it will download an apk. Install it and open the app. There is one button in the app that will give you root. Then install SuperSU https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu Open SuperSU, it will ask you to update, them reboot. Done. You can find Xposed here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/de.robv.android.xposed.installer modules are in the Xposed app and on the Play Store.
G2 xposed, you'll need to setup the Xposed Installer first. And then in the Themes and Colors part of G2 Xposed you'll see options for white nav bar keys and KK icons and theme

These two should work for you if the comment below mine doesn't. It's what I currently have working.
Tudia Slim Melody http://www.amazon.com/TUDIA-Melody-Series-Protective-T-Mobile/dp/B00F27CY7I
Great value and has survived many a drop. Unlike most it does not make the phone enormous.
As I got the blue one, easy to spot amongst the junk at home. The Diztronic would have been #1 other than the black rectangle look which means I often forgot or couldn't immediately find the phone.
$13 from Amazon with free 2-day Prime shipping, or save $2 and wait a little longer to get it off eBay.
Ask her what her pictures are worth to her. For around $55, you could just get one of those aftermarket screens, so you can at least recover your data (and best case scenario, you get to use the phone again).
Non-mobile: Kenu Airframe

I was about to order one of the standard, recommended cases for the LG G2 when I came across this listicle, "The 5 Best LG G2 Cases". The writer's #1 favorite case was the Nekeda PT Saffiano PU Leather Pattern Jelly Case. It doesn't have the highest star-rating on Amazon, but I ordered it anyway because I recognized the writer, Rita El Khoury. She is a huge mobile and mobile app maven whose opinions I've grown to respect.
The case arrived the same day as my LG G2 did. I'm glad I bought the Nekeda Saffiano! It's slim, feels great in the hand with its "leathery" pattern in back, and with its shiny black material up front, it looks just great!

I got my dad, sister and GF to buy one, they all love it.
I quite like mine, just use a screen protector. It scuffs it up after a good amount of use but otherwise my phone is undamaged. I have the VS980 like you.
You will need to get a specific model: This one is the correct one.
yes my GPS flaked out months back. I read about this app you can install that helps to fix it. Not perfect, but I can get a decent lock whilst using the satnav.
You'll need to be rooted.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=en
It's an Android subsystem that determines how memory is handled and how apps are killed in conditions of low memory. Much better than just hardcoding 4 bg processes all the time.
I'm still super happy with mine after ~1.75years. I did have to warranty the original for the dead zone issue, but this second one has been going strong. However, I did download XCOM, and my battery just hasn't recovered. That game sucks down battery, and I definitely ate into its permanent battery life. I did that at about 1 year into the phone, before that I could usually go 2 days of internet/reddit/weather/directions use without charging. The SD-800 is still a snappy chip. XCOM is an extremely demanding game for a pocket device, and my VS980 handles it well.
I will admit I'm not a huge camera user. It takes decent enough photos, but I'm not picky.
If you use Google Now Launcher and xposed, check out Xposed GEL Settings, it has an option to do exactly what you're describing.
You could try SoundAbout. It routes the audio how you like it - speaker, Bluetooth, headphones, etc.
Is there an xPosed for it? I really like my TweaksBox (I could not find a call recorder as good as the option included)
You can use Undeleter, it's available in the Play Store. As already mentioned, you won't be able to recover everything, but if you're lucky enough (and the files weren't deleted long ago, and not much was added to the internal memory - this causes the deleted data, that are technically still in the memory, to be replaced) you will be able to recover at least 70% of the pictures.
And of course, you need root. I recommend ioroot, it's probably the best option since you don't have to place anything in the internal storage. Good luck.
I'm not sure about the app data themselves. It only says apps. That could mean literally just the app or app+data. I have never used it. I am sure you can find some info on that online though :)
edit: see what people have said here: http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2bsw2q/lg_backup_app_is_actually_pretty_great/
Otherwise you can also use Helium: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en
You can use Ampere to test out how much power is being transferred from your charger. On CM12 with the stock adapter and cable my G2 gets 1610 ma whereas my Nexus 9 using a higher output charger gets around 1020 ma from the adapter.
You don't need any app really, I just do it on the homescreen when it gets out of wack and it fixes it.
But here is the app that I first got those instructions from: Compass
I don't like how most music players sort the files on the phone. If you prefer a folder based view (just like you select files on your PC), I highly recommend Clean Music. It comes with a simple UI and is not very performance hungry.
Try using this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2 I had GPS issues after replacing front lcd but my issues were solved by this app. Hope it works for you! Edit: you can reset your GPS and update GPS data under the settings menu.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2522889
Frequent crashes for me.
I use Lenovo Super Camera. No idea about low light performance. Have heard good things about Open Camera.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en
I have been using this app and haven't had issues since. It helps you connect to satellites and allows you to reset your A-gps when needed.
So now it installed and everything but now when I turn on my screen then it slowly fills with white lines (not like the ones that happen with the jdi panel) It looks like this
For some reason that transfer mode never popped up. You're right though, it was the PTP default that messed it up. I didn't know how to find where to change it until i stumbled upon this blog that pointed me to do exactly what you said. For those that come across this, this will help.
Here is a HowToGeek link about ROMs.
Pretty much what you said, a modified version of Android with different features and "skin". HTC calls their version Sense, Samsung - TouchWiz, and so on! Make sure you are positive you know what you're doing before flashing a ROM. Make backups as well.
The charger has a soft blue LED on one side, which can be angled away from you and not a bother, I sleep next to mine. It'd be real easy to cover up with a small piece of electrical tape anyhow. It doesn't make any noises.
Also, I asked for and was sent a picture of the internals. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-DZfKyEfYZLN0FWQnlnbzVmTVZIcXF0RnVXbUtxZWEwN2ZB/edit?usp=sharing
internal storage is the biggest file I cant go "back" any farther than this and when I boot into recovery I get this list: * Reboot system now * apply update from external sdcard * apply update from cache *apply update from adb (which I cant do for this specific rom anyway) *wipe data/factory reset *wipe cache partition
This is what I'm talking about, it allows you to use a flash drive with your phone. The problem is if you don't have one or know someone that does, then it won't help you much immediately.
I was using this until I realized it was worse on wake locks than Facebook's app. I removed it and my b attery life increased a ton. Lesson learned.
I have one of these - http://www.dx.com/p/protective-waterproof-shockproof-pc-silicone-case-cover-for-lg-g2-white-341589#.VJJz6-p7h5Q.
But for my daily use I use the Trident Cyclops - it is think and highly protective and if you use the embedded screen protector, it is moderately waterproofed. Highly recommend it.
Solved with this autorecovery. No secure boot error now, goes right to TWRP 2.8.6.1. I had to disable screen lock because then it would show a glitched mess of pixels until I rebooted via adb shell and disabled that.
I used the LG's Support Tool and it worked just fine
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Others/LGMobile-Support-Tool.shtml
When it finished restoring rom it got stuck at the bootloop but clearing cache and factory reset fixed it. You can do it following this guide:
(source: https://t-mobile.jive-mobile.com/#jive-document?content=%2Fapi%2Fcore%2Fv2%2Fdocuments%2F7590 ) Master reset with hardware keys: A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloaded content, ringtones, images, apps, and contacts. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card. If the device menus are frozen or unresponsive, you can master reset using hardware keys. To perform a master reset, follow these steps: Power off the device and ensure it is not connected to any USB cables. At the same time, press and hold the following keys for 8 seconds: Power key Volume down key When the LG Logo is displayed, release and then immediately re-hold the Power key. When the 'FACTORY HARD RESET' screen displays, release the keys. Press the Power key to reset or one of the Volume keys to cancel. Press the Power key to confirm the reset. The reset will start immediately.
Root first (this is a temporary root). You'll need it to flash a bootloader: https://kingroot.net Download the apk, make sure any apk checkers are disabled on your phone, install & go through the process to temp root.
After root, download this & install: https://m.apkpure.com/d802-lg-g2-autorec-lollipop/b007.autorec2 This will install twrp.
Before you restart, I'd also download CM13, the appropriate open gapps, etc so you have it on your phone. You may or may not need bootstacks. I used bootstack-d802-LP_30b-bump-signed.zip on my CM13 install & it works great.
After all that's done, boot into recovery (turn off phone, power back on by pressing power + down, let go when logo comes up & immediately hold buttons down again, choose yes, yes). Make a FULL backup (check everything), do a full wipe (everything besides internal storage, that's where your downloads are), install bootstacks first, then CM13, then gapps.
There's an xposed module for that
You need to be rooted and have Xposed installed though, so it's KitKat only, till Lollipop gets Xposed anyway
If you can't get it working, you can look into using a Xposed module. http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.mohammadag.thirdpartylauncherhotword this will allow you to choose any apps that you want it to work in.
There's an xposed tweak specifically for LG phones, LG Pie Support. Enable it, then set up GravityBox's pie controls. Make sure you do pie first, or you're stuck with no navigation.
I'm on an older build, I downloaded it from the download link in this thread. Where can I grab today's build?
Edit: is this the place to download it or do I have to find a specific G2 version?
Forgot just one thing. Google apps. You need to flash them (install them) with the custom recovery. Here's a link
http://paranoidandroid.co/gapps/
Just make sure it says 4.4
Do this right after you finish flashing the cyanogen zip file.
Interesting... well it seems they've continued development as there have been quite a few nightlies posted since the post you linked. You can see all of the nightlies released since here: https://carbonrom.org/downloads/?device=vs980&type=nightly
Also, I think this link will help with sideloading, if you go that route:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559200
And here are some more generic instructions straight from TeamWin:
As long as can get into TWRP should be good.
1) Update to newest TWRP (flashable zip)
2) Reboot into Updated TWRP
3) Factory Wipe
4) Flash ZV8 Modem zip
5) Flash CM 12 zip
6) Flash Gapps zip
and reboot into System
I got mine for $90 not too long ago. Tmobile version which is what I need. Manufacturer refurbished and it looks almost brand new. I'm sure it will go on sale again soon.
Lol I ended up just going back to my G2, the battery life on the G3 doesn't even come close to it, plus my G2 is smoother with a custom stock rom. Maybe if I root and custom rom the G3 it will be better, but I doubt it.
Here are the problems I've notice so far:
-VPN's appear to not be working. I tried Hotspot Shield and Hideman and both connect, disconnect, and reconnect continuously.
-I also get this error message every time I turn the phone on.
I checked the IMEI, it's definitely a D802 manufactured in 2014, but I'm 99% sure it was refurbished.
Sorry, the one I got is called Dual Pro. Link. Be sure to get the model for your carrier - the Verizon version is a little different from the T-Mobile version and the case must match.
I love this case. Comes in various colors. It's been very sturdy for me... It's held up to whatever tumbles it has taken.

Alright, first and foremost, keep your phone powered off. Stop trying to turn it on. At this point, you might have shorted some circuits in your phone, which is why you're gonna have to open it up to see the extent of the damage. remove the back, unscrew the plastic shit, and remove the battery connector. Youtube is your friend in all this, because it shows you every step.
Once that is done, you'll see 2 boards: the motherboard and the "daughterboard"; the latter being the board with the power button. At this point, assess the damage. If you see any blown circuits, or anything that may not look right, that's what might be causing the phone not to start up. If it's the "daughterboard, you can replace it for less than $20 on Amazon. Or if it's the battery, you can replace it for around $10.
If all else fails, or if you dont want to go through this hassle, buy another g2. But at this point, you have nothing to lose by cracking open your phone.
if your port is dead, just buy this and make sure you buy from JM / ships from chicago. I just bought one because the cable is broke
I'm using this right now. Seems to work great.
I also bought these: LG G2 Screen Protector Cover, MPERO Collection 5 Pack of Matte Anti-Glare Screen Protectors for LG G2 VS980 / D800 / D801 / D802 / LS980 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HA2XBHA/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_qgSLvbDKC38DY
but haven't tried it yet.
So do you think the price here will drop soon? If not, I will probably end up going with a seller from amazon here.
That's not true. I've seen many Slimport adapters that allow pass-through charging using an external usb charger. Here's an example.
http://www.mobile-stream.com/easytether/android.html
no need for root, this works like a charm. It's been pulled from google play store, but if you'd rather get it from an app store, it's on amazon

Plus it has a Lanyard attachment point :) I've dropped it on hardward floors many times and it survives my 1 year old walking around with it. has OK built in touchscreen protector. My only grips are pain to open (not tthat big of a deal) and when face down on a desk, the plastic front is slippery verse my S4 defender case (work phone).
TLDR: Good cheap case with corner bumpers.
I bought this one.
While I didn't have any adhesion problems, the thing got so scratched up in two weeks that I would not recommend.
Iloome. If I have it mounted in my car, on a sunny day, then the halo will appear. That said, for the (3 weeks?) I've had it on - I can just smooth the halo away.
Any other time and it's fine - it's just in that situation, that a (thus far) temporary halo forms.
Mpow® 6.0Amps 30W Dual Rapid USB Port Car Charger with Xsmart™ Technology for Apple and Android Devices, iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5 5S 5c 4 4S, Samsung Galaxy S5 S4 S3, Galaxy Note 3 2, iPad Air 5 4 mini, iPod, Kindle Fire, Nexus 4, LG G2, Motorola and HTC One and More-Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O7RA3Q8/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_i2R2ub1C1EQ25
My G2 has fallen multiple times from getting out of my car with it sitting on my lap and also it falling out of my jacket pocket onto concrete. It is still working perfectly fine. All I have is this cheap case that the original owner gave me. This case isn't anything special to me, but I am really surprised how well of a beating my phone has taken compared to what it seems like many other people.
This is the exact item I ordered (remember, mine is a Verizon):
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Screen-Digitizer-Assembly-Optimus/dp/B00HSE6A7S
I ordered both from the same place, as it was the only company offering Prime shipping at the time. Since it was shipped by Amazon, I figured I would take the chance as the return process is easy.
I recommend you also order the 1mm tape, and take pics of the installation process, focusing on all the connectors/grommets.
Good luck, and don't hesitate to post if you need help.
That's going to depend on your G2 version. For the VS980 I really like my Incipio Dual Pro, but the Verizon (VS980) has slightly different dimensions than most G2's (I think the rest of the models are compatible with the AT&T D800 as far as physical dimensions for cases).
I have tried a bunch this is the only one that fits. You have to be extremely carefully when applying it because it is the exact width of the screen so if you are off even a little it will be noticeable.
http://www.amazon.com/iloome-ScreenMate-Flexible-Protector-Oleophobic/dp/B00F4AT5Q6
Hold on. Is your phone with AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile? Just did some further reading and it's not dustproof, so I feel bad now! :(
This is another one that at worst accumulates dust around the edges. But then again, other silicone-based cases I've used in the past did worse in that dept (G2x, Nexus 4).
At any rate, IMO, you can't go wrong with either. There is no such thing as a perfect case. I'm using this case right now. It has ZERO lip, so if it falls on its screen, I could be in for a bad day. It's easily removable should the need arise and it attracts just a tiny bit of dust on the back. Failing the other 2, this is one I can say is quite doable for a paltry $6!
This happened to mine. It eventually went away on its own, but for the duration of the bug, I used HF Button Widget to force the phone to use the speakers.
Just install and throw the widget onto your homescreen.
Phone is rooted and root is enabled (Apps and ADB have root access in developer settings). I have used the CM13 file manager, ES File Manager, and the Asus file manager https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asus.filemanager&hl=sv
I'm not sure, but I'd give it a shot since those OSs are pretty similar. There's also freegee https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free
Of course that's just me. I don't recommend it if you aren't capable of fixing a possible bricked G2. If it scares you, push it manually via adb
I don't remember which was the stock one but download this app and choose cyanogenmod from the custom rom section and it should be there.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackupPro
Best money you will ever spend.
There is a feature that if both phones are in the same WiFi network, it will zip the backup on one phone and automatically transfer to the other one and restore.
Backs up just about everything.
For contact information you should be using your Google account to have it cloud stored. If you do, all you need to do is login to another device with that gmail account and it will automatically restore the contacts.
For photos, use this.

Select backup at highest quality. This will auto sync with Google and all photos will be backed up. Great app.
Never tried it but looks like it isn't abandoned like some other IP cam apps.
Actually just found this app that looks pretty promising: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mantishrimp.salienteye
My G2 has the same problem due to light water damage - my alarm went off when I was in the shower and I turned it off with a dripping wet hand. Just after that is when I saw the headset icon. The icon is there because the phone thinks that headphones are plugged in. I'm guessing if you try playing audio on your phone you don't hear anything from the speakers?
I'm using SoundAbout to work around it because I don't want to go through the hassle of sending my device in for repair. It can disable the headphone detection and allow you to manually specify the audio output. It runs as a service that auto switches the output when Bluetooth headphones are plugged in too.
If you plug in wired headphones you'd have to manually change the output in the app, but I tend to just stick with Bluetooth anyway. It's a hassle to have to manually switch, but it works for me.
I have a similar situation going with mine. Using GSam Battery Monitor helped me to deduce two things that tend to drain battery life.
First is Android's location services, if it's left on it'll likely drain my battery faster than anything else. I have it turned off now unless I need to use my GPS for something like maps. This alone has given me hours of battery time back.
The other thing I've noticed is some correlation between poor signal and battery drain. I don't know what the deal with that is, but thanks to GSam's graphs it's something I regularly notice.
For the record I'm on stock 5.0.2, never rooted.
Some bootstrap issue is my guess. I had same issue. Use this for a while and it may mysteriously start working again. It did for me anyway. I would let it cycle all night while it was charging. Took several days. I was about to give up on it when all of a sudden, 4GLTE pops up. Don't ask me to explain it.
Hey if you're still looking for an app uninstaller, I'd give the CCleaner app a try. Probably the easiest/simplest one to uninstall or freeze apps, plus has the added benefit of being a cache cleaner among many other useful tools. Never was of fan of Titanium backup, it's powerful yes but it still looks ugly to me and can be confusing to use at first.
And yeah AdAway and Greenify are a must if you have root.
Yeah I'm on stock Lollipop and it's a bit under 2GB. I would just try downloading Diskusage and going through to see what is taking up so much space. It will help visualize what apps are hogging up so much space and should make it quite abit easier to pinpoint it.

Install WakeLock Detector to see what is waking up the device. For me it was NlpWakeLock and NlpCollectorWakeLock, both of which are part of one of the Google Apps. I use xposed and wakelock terminator to stop them from waking up the phone and my battery life is much better.
Sure mate,
Kernel Adiutor is built in with the rom. You can check out the settings here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grarak.kerneladiutor&hl=en
From XDA: Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
