Download this app and search for Oculus in it and there is a way to launch the Oculus app without the headset plugged in and then you can set it up.
I have AT&T and the setting is in a menu the carrier hid, I suspect it's the same on Verizon.
To get to it, download QuickShortcutMaker from Google Play, open and change the search to 'Normal Search' and search for Knock. One of the options that comes up will say Settings and KnockON under that. Click it and hit 'Try' (or Create if you want to make a desktop shortcut to the menu) and the option to turn off should be in that.
Mildly convoluted, but it works.
Thanks for the gold!
Here is how to get digital wellbeing:
Step 1: Download the digital wellbeing app from apkmirror and install it.
Step 2: Download QuickShortcutMaker from playstore and install it
Step 3: In QuickShortcutMaker, find the digital wellbeing and tap open it.
Step 4: Look for com.google.android.apps.wellening.home.TopLevelSettingsActivity. and press it
Step 5: Once into the menu, hit the try button and digital wellbeing app will open. In the app press the 3 dots in the corner and turn on usage data access to on. Now you will see some time and usages.
Step 6: Scroll to the bottom and swipe right on the "Show icon in the app list" and go back to quickshortcutmaker and hit the create button.
Viola you have just used the digital wellbeing app.
PSA: Just a few things about the article that the author either didn't know or left out.
Samsung Cloud is technically on Verizon Note 7s and functional. Verizon just seems to have gotten rid of any way to reach it without a 3rd party app. It's hidden in the system apps and you can use Nova launcher or an app like Quick Shortcut Maker to create a home screen shortcut for Samsung Cloud.
As far as I can see there's no way to get the app in the app drawer though or reach it without a 3rd party app.
Also, the author mentions that as far as he knows there's no way to manage ram usage on the Verizon Note 7. But there are a couple of ways to do this.
You can either go to the app manager in settings, tap the hamburger menu icon, and then select "memory". You can also manage ram the same way you do on stock Android by going to developer settings and selecting "running services". This pulls up the same ram manager that every other Android phone has traditionally had.
I haven't yet heard of a way to switch the settings menu to the marshmallow style layout that the other versions of the Note 7 have. If anyone finds out that this is possible please let us know.
It can still be done through the now-hidden SystemUI tool.
First you have to install an external app (I use QuickShortcutMaker - link). Once you've installed it, scroll down through the 'Activities' list until you get to 'SystemUI' and 'System UI demo mode.' Tap on that, then 'Create.'
Then go back to your home screen, and long-press to make a new widget. Hold down 'QuickShortcut Maker' and put it on your home screen. It will ask you where you want your widget shortcut to point to, so scroll down again to SystemUI and select 'System UI demo mode.
Once you've made your widget, tap on it and then select 'Status Bar.' The options for changing the time are at the bottom.
Quick note, though; you can't turn off the clock - or rather, you can, but it won't stay off. The UI will keep turning it back on.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any help on any of these steps - I was rushing a bit, typing this!
Using a different launcher is not even required. An application like "QuickShortcutMaker" can also be used to create activity widgets. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Kevinn.: step 1: install substratum and skip intro process it will say you are not rooted ignore that
step 2: install quickShortcutMaker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
step 3: find compatible theme
step 4: after installing theme substratum will notify you that theme is installed successfully, goto next step step 5: tap QuickShortcutMaker and find your installed theme ->Click TRY for your install theme you will see substratum's theme configuration activity.
step 6: go ahead and select options choose colors and all
step 7: click the pink button select install theme, it will show theme installed successfully
step 8: go to your favourite filemanager and there will be a folder named ".substratum" if not showing click show hidden folders, go inside and there will be apks generated by substratum, go ahead install them
Step 9: hook up your phone with pc and start
adb shell
cmd overlay list
step 10: now i want to enable that theme so i will type this command
cmd overlay enable --user 0 <theme_name>
e.g cmd overlay enable --user 0 com.android.settings.DarkAccentsforO
Step 11 : if still isn't working try this command disable default theme:
cmd overlay disable --user 0 com.google.android.theme.pixel
Done.!!!

I use Quick Shortcut Maker from inside Oculus TV to directly access the Developer menu!! :)https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
You can do many things with that, like disabling system updates :)
You can actually, though it's a little bit of a workaround:
-Install this app from the Play Store QuickShortcutMaker
From within the app, search for "Gear VR SetupWizardStub", select it, then tap Create. This will load a shortcut to your home screen to access the GearVR setup wizard, which is already on your device, but is hidden/disabled and set to load automatically when you attach the phone to the headset.
Selecting the new shortcut on your home screen will load the Oculus Store app, which you can browse freely while waiting for your Gear VR to arrive.
If you also set up an Oculus ID (or login if you already have one) from the S7, then you'll most likely already see the bundle in your Oculus Library under 'Not Installed'.
Even though I already have a GearVR that I got as part of the Note 5 promo, I used this method because I had my S7 Edge delivered to my office. The bundle was available in the store for me without ever plugging it in to my headset.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Download that app and search for vr then select the oculus app and say try. It should launch the service and create an icon in your app tray.
Otherwise you gotta wait to plug the phone into the headset.
Correct.
Install oculus app, login, start downloading apps. They will instantly appear in your library on the N4.

They do allow, but this option is hidden. You need to install this app and then search for applications' settings or something like that. In fact miui has its own custom settings which you can see and default android settings where you can do it
If your launcher doesn't support activities, you can use this app to create the shortcut for you.
But if it's too much, you might be better off just finding another calendar app.
Found a way to access it. I downloaded QuickShortcutMaker and launched the activity for it through that.
>Settings
>Media volume limiter
>com.android.settings.Settings$VolumeLimiterSettingsActivity
If you find that Nova isn't for you (I've test-driven it a few times, always went back to my default launcher), check this out...
The long RiF GP name irked me too, so I just deleted the icon from my home screen and created a new one with this very-straightforward app. You can name it whatever you want and even select the image (I'm using a Snoo icon from before reddit launched their official app).
Hope this helps.
It might take you a while to find it, but I stumbled across a few different debug/hardware testing applications when I looked through the list of stuff on my V20 using shortcut creator.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
I have found a solution to this. I have an LG G4, my phone came with a hidden menu program called LG Access Lock. This allows granular selection of per app permissions. So you can set the PokémonGo app to not have the option to use "Audio Focus". This prevents the audio going out in the game when another app plays a sound.
If you have an LG phone, you might already have it, I used an app called QuickShortcutMaker to locate it by searching for "Access Lock".
You can also use it to cut off microphone use our gps use from an app like Facebook.
I haven't tried this version on APKPure, but the version and creator are the same as my local apk. LG Access Lock
This also allows you to play music on your phone with the PokémonGo sound effects still playing on top of the music stream.
Quick and easy process.
Tap the Try button
As long as you have a compatible galaxy model, the Oculus app should launch. Now you can download VR apps and games to your device ahead of time, your Gear VR experience will be fully loaded before UPS drops it off at your door.

you could use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut to create a shortcut on the home screen, on my Moto X Play I do the same thing for the equalizer, you need only to find which is the activity that open the EQ
Cool. If you haven't already, you can download QuickshortcutMaker:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Navigate to GearVR SetupWizard, creating a shortcut, and install the Oculus package.
Then you can create your Oculus account (or login to your Oculus developer website account, if you have one), setup payments, and browse and download apps from the Store.
I asked Samsung support about the UK pre-order/release date a few hours ago, but they still don't know.
It isn't an update issue (at least for EE in the UK), my S6 Edge+ already has the required file: GearVR SetupWizard
You can download QuickshortcutMaker:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Navigate to GearVR SetupWizard, creating a shortcut, then run to install the Oculus package.
Then you can create your Oculus account (or login to your Oculus developer website account, if you have one), setup payments, and browse and download apps from the Store, without the Gear VR.
They might still be waiting to see when enough stock will reach their own UK distribution centre, and Amazon?

The activity you are looking to launch is:
Application: Settings Activity: Battery Package/Class: com.android.settings/com.android.settings.Settings$PowerUsageSummaryActivity
You can use QuickShortcutMaker or a similar app to create a shortcut to the activity to launch from your home screen. If you use Nova Launcher you can create shortcuts to activities natively as well.
You can use QuickShortcutMaker (or any similar app) to locate the "SVI Settings" app (com.qualcomm.svi) and use it to launch the "com.qualcomm.svi/com.qualcomm.svi.SVIPreferences" activity.
Well that's where the paragraph I quoted earlier on comes in.
The APK is the service, the app still is in the system, just has no visibility. To get it, simply get this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut (Don't worry, you can uninstall it later)
When you open it, it will ask to search for a keyword. Search for Samsung Account Storage. Tap into it, you'll get 2 options: Backup Settings (For Me is First) or Sync and Auto-Backup Settings (For me is Second). Tap the Backup Settings one. Hit "Create". You should be able to see the app in your App Drawer. Open it, hit the 3 bars in top right, hit settings, then turn on "show Samsung Cloud Icon" You can now uninstall the app I linked you.
also QuickShortcutMaker can be used to disable system apps, without root or adb
This will give you access to the regular AOSP application manager activity through which you can disable system apps.
Also, disabling system apps will be allowed in MIUI 10.5 because it's already available in MIUI 10 Chinese Dev ROM v9.7.x
You might able to use the following app to circumvent the crashing settings menu? It'll allow you to access other settings menus or make shortcuts to them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Using that App you may be able to get to the Apps menu by searching for "Apps Settings" under the Activities Tab and expanding the Settings menu. It's "com.android.settings.Settings$ManageApplicationsActivity"
Once you make it into the Apps menu I would probably go to the Settings App itself (System App) and clear cache / clear data / force stop.
The default for Android is 15%.
Most people I know get annoyed at the percentage and prefer the way Samsung does it.
You can change that percentage here, I just did it two days ago but I haven't seen if it works yet.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en_US
I use this app to get to a lot of shortcuts to activities - some are system settings that can't be opened and others are settings that you just cannot get to but do open.
Search for "battery" in the first menu.
Then go to Settings app's list of activities it should be the one that says "Battery Saver" with a "com.android.settings.Settings$BatterySaverSettingsActivity"
Then Tap "Try" and it will launch it.
You can make a direct shortcut to it, too.
See if that works for you?
Added bonus? 3.04MB app size (total 5.96MB used due to cache and user data).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en_US
shortcut maker
type camera in search then choose camcorder, it will make one click shortcut.
I think I found out how to enable that feature on my Verizon Note9. Here is what I did :
1: Download an app called QuickShortCut Maker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut)
2: Scroll Down to the third phone option (com.android.phone) and select to open
3: Select the Caller ID and Spam Protection option
4: Click try to enable/disable
Install Quick ShortCut maker. Type "Notification". Under settings banner you will see "notification log". Click on it. And click "Create". It will create a short cut on homescreen. You can use it to access notification log.
Install a shortcut maker app (I use this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en) or use the one that came along with your 3rd party launcher if it has one. Then find this link (com.lge.music/com.lge.music.BandEQActivity) under the Music app in the list. Mine also didn't come with a custom EQ. Don't resort to 3rd party EQ as those tend to crash when you start playing high-res music.
Try this: download this app (or whatever alternative you prefer), create a shortcut to "Gear VR SetupWizardStub", and run it.
This used to work but there have been some changes to many of the core Gear VR platform components over the last year or so so I don't know what the current status is.
Please report back :)
Nova Launcher, Lightning Launcher, etc can do this without an additional app.
If you are using a launcher that can't do this, it can be accomplished with a standalone app. I'm sure there are plenty of other options, but these are the two I've used: QuickShortcutMaker and App Shortcuts Creator.
Try this. Install QuickShortcutMaker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
Search for the shortcut called "KnockOn". Then click "try". If it's turned off, toggle it on.
LG hid this option from the regular settings and I don't know why it sometimes toggles itself.
You could try quick shortcut maker. I have used it in the past on my G3, to turn off knock on. It does about what I think you are describing in Nova. Maybe it will have better luck opening some of the packages that Nova had trouble with.
I fixed the audio bug on android, this might only work on LG phones though:
1) Download QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en)
2) Search for "Access Lock," select it (it should be under "Settings") and choose "Try it" from the menu.
3) Scroll down to Pokemon GO and select it, uncheck "Audio Focus"
There you go! Notifications/music will no longer break Pokemon GO audio. You just don't get the audio pausing when a notification arrives. If this causes problems for you, just recheck audio focus.
Some phones have Access Lock in the settings menu, if so, ignore QuickShortcutMaker.
I hadn't seen the settings page either, but the G3 had something similar that certainly worked (increased saturation, etc.). I'll check this out right now.
For anyone interested in making shortcuts to explore hidden settings, try QuickShortcutMaker. You can navigate through settings under Activities.
Edit: after testing, this setting doesn't even seem to change the color of the candies. Not sure if it works. H810 on 6.0.
Not saying it WILL work, but worth a try. Install this and look for "gear vr". This is how people can preload the software and begin browsing the store before their device arrives.
So download Quick Shortcut Maker from the Play Store, open it and search for vr. Click on Gear VR SetupWizzard and enjoy. You can browse, purchase and download your stuff so all you need to do is plug the damn thing in and go when it arrives :)

You can change individual apps behaviour. Download QuickShortcutMaker from the Play store.
Under Activities, search for "Access lock " (note i left a space intentionally after lock, it forces the app to search).
Go into Settings com.android.settings, tap Access lock. Give it a proper name instead of the default, Try it out, hit back after verifying that it works, & Create the shortcut.
Goto your home screen and find thr shortcut it made, open it, find the offending apps that you want to revoke notification access to and uncheck the box.
Wallah, granular app permissions, in Lollipop.
Install QuickShortcutMaker and dig around in there. You may have to set the stock launcher as default to get to the hidden menus.
You can search in QuickShortcutMaker, but it's not the best, and only Normal Search works for me. I frequently have to put a space after the word I'm searching for, click search, then backspace and search again.
I know I've had this screen up and done the Device Test, but I don't remember what it was I opened. There's a ton of hidden menu options, but a lot of them don't work and many require the stock launcher.
Also this one. Does the same thing but the created shortcut doesn’t get deleted after deleting the shortcut maker app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Just another update: you can get thermal data for the CPU/GPU/etc from miui powerkeeper thru quickshortcutmaker and from what google translate tells me is that the temp displayed via developer options(also part of miui powerkeeper) is actually the skin temp(from translation) and that neither CPU monitor nor antutu is reporting the actual SOC temps (battery temps are being pulled correctly though). given that the temp reading is actually skin temp i'd be more concerned about risk of 2nd degree burns which can occur in about 15 minutes of exposure than risks of frying the phone(although given how much the SOC temp jumps around compared to the skin temp this is also likely)
Quick Shortcut Maker seems to be able to interrogate all of the apps on your phone and make a list of all of the Intents that they expose. I have had mixed results invoking these from outside, probably because many of them require parameters to be passed along as well. It's definitely useful as a starting point anyway.
They are not found in the Global version, but are in both Chinese and European versions. Unfortunately, not every feature is found in every region.
Alternatively, apps such as Quick Shortcut Maker will create shortcuts to numerous phone features and other apps. You might find it does what you need.
I mean there is the "quick shortcut maker" app which will allow you to launch it and more. There are other app like this that is specific to launching the File app. Use whichever one you prefer.
And the last option won't do anything neither? No matter where I touch get to the same settings.
You could also install this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Go to com.google.android.gms and then org.microg.gms.ui.AccountSettingsActivity, select it and try to launch it, for me this works, I get to the same window it opens from the Account settings.
I was able to figure it out on my Moto One Action after going through hours and hours of "technical support", which led to nothing. New sim, restarted the phone god knows how many times and still wasn't able to make calls. I also have an unlocked AT&T sim. Anyways, here's what I ended up doing:
Now, this may be a temporary fix since I know 3G will eventually go away. Not sure if ST will by then send out an update to these phones to allow us to select the VoLTE option we all need, but for now, you should be able to make calls.
Yes you can, probably, assuming the emulator supports direct launching.
I know for the main you can get by installing a shortcut maker and checking the shortcut path for what you want to launch: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
I don't know precisely what to put in for that emu.
It shares a lot of aspects of other launchers, in how you add new systems. Dig, for instance. There may be some instructions for that launcher that would apply here, too.
> Try and make some noise, from the play store email your launcher, maybe the dev will consider.
ahaha well I should mention I intentionally haven't updated to their latest version, because they pulled a fast one and completely overhauled the entire GUI for no reason with an update without even warning us.
Thankfully I had a backup of the previous .apk so I had to downgrade it, the phone looked like absolute crap the next morning after I upgraded.
I'm sure it supports those ratios now but it also looks awful and doesn't have the spacing and display options I like. Stupid app developers changing GUIs for no reason just because they can. If I wanted modern looks, I'd just use the stock launcher! Or Nova or anything else.
> In Disney plus it stretches out to the perfect 21:9, but starts out smaller 21:9 letterboxed, which is a silly extra step.
Huh? It seems to work fine for me, I tried pulling up some movies in super-wide aspect ratios (like Star Wars, which are 2.35 - or 21.15:9) and they basically filled the screen. Tiny tiny black bars on the top and bottom (because it's not the exact ratio) but double tapping zoomed it in a little.
Unless you don't mean during video playback? I haven't noticed it if so.
Try this app - I use it to make custom shortcuts directly to activities instead of opening the app normally. Hasn't been updated since 2014. For me, it opens at the very top of the screen with a huge huge black bar at the bottom - not centered. Does yours open centered?
Download the app Im giving you from play store and then search for manage apps in the search bar of the app. there would be 2 or 3 setting with the same name..put a favourite marker on them on one of them u would be able to disable many of the factory apps. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Replaced old QuickShortcutMaker by Shortcut Maker (so *much* better and many more features)
> The nice thing is that the shortcut on home is available on edge panels
Very nice! Didn't realize that. I thought that Pop-Up Widget would make a widget lol. So that's pretty cool.
However to highlight the ridiculousness of the Tasker Shortcut Icons / Labels issue - here is an image of when I go to add existing homescreen shortcuts to my Edge Panel 🤪😧
> but weren't we avoiding shortcuts?
Only those created by Tasker lol. I've yet to see shortcuts from any other app have this issue. Including shortcuts created by custom shortcut-creating apps, like QuickShortcutMaker.
In fact, since that app can create Shortcuts to "Activities" beyond just an app itself, perhaps there is a way to use that to create Tasker shortcuts that keep their icon. I shall look into it :)

I use an app called QuickShortcut Maker, where I can create a home screen shortcut directly to the NFC toggle.. from there, you can quickly turn the NFC on or off. So it's still two clicks from start to finish, but better than having to go through the various menus.
Another alternative is an app called SystemUI Tuner where you can get to the same toggle via the status bar.
I tried posting a screenshot of my homescreen here, but for some reason, the post kept getting stuck, so not sure what the problem might be. But hopefully at least the links below will help.

As a workaround you can use an Android app called Quickshortcutmaker , In The app search for "display size" and it reveals the hidden Android display menu.
It's not persistent across reboots but might make things better until the fix is released.
Also, if you're new to customization, you may not know about "activities". There are many apps that allow you to access shortcuts to features inside of an app without having to actually launch the app. QuickShortcutMaker is a nice little app to get you started with this. It's pretty straightforward, and you can test the activity before committing to it.

Can you try intalling this app. It's shortcut maker and you will be able to find system processes e.g. the word "restart".

The "auto restart" option is found in Device Care, and then "Advanced"..
Maybe apps need to be updated? Can't recall this option being carrier specific.

I have been wanting this feature for so long. I have used nova launcher as my default home since gingerbread on my original note in 2012 and future phones. But recently I have come to the point where I like Samsung's One UI more than any third party launcher.
I tried everything but found a single way to apply a custom icon on homescreen in One UI which involves creating a widget shortcut of each particular app and choosing the exact icon that I want of that App.
Note : It is a bit hassle but at least you get to customise your homescreen with any icon that you might want for any app.

This kinda thing is built into some Launchers, e.g. Nova. Add an activity widget and whalla. AutoShare can also dig out app activities.
However, if you want that app and what Nova+AutoShare can do, then try this.. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut 😊

A quick Google would've answered your question. It's an app that allows you to make custom shortcuts for app, processors etc.
Anyway it doesn't work for the shield. There is a vpn shortcut available but it can't run by itself and most likely is a hook for other apps.
I uninstalled it to try and force the new update, and lost it. I did find an app that is supposed to let you create shortcuts, The shortcuts themselves aren't working, but you can manually open Android auto locally through the app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
> although IIRC that user was with their Verizon coverage.
Yeah, and Verizon dialer codes by default don't work on T-Mobile.
Is it possible it's hidden in a menu somewhere? Use QSM to see if VOLTE is just a menu toggle hidden from regular view.
> Not all calls have a delayed dial, but some fraction do.
Yeah, and that probably depends on capacity of the 2G tower near you.
Ah right, Google play removed shortcut master because it was designed for a really old Android api.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut this should work
And nah, its weird because if you go into the apn settings from the normal settings menu, you can't actually open the apn to view/edit it. (Settings>connections>mobile networks>access point names. So you can see what i mean)
That's why there's the other steps.
Also, i forgot the comment from daddymikey explains it a bit better (and includes an extra couple steps that are useful) https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s9-plus/how-to/hotspot-mod-devs-s9-plus-project-t3763796/page5
Also you can put a shortcut on your homescreen to access SystemUI using QuickShortcutMaker, which I used some time ago for this purpose.
You can uninstall the app after and the shortcut will remain, but it's a useful app with low footprint so I kept it! Only problem is you can't disable the battery icon, only the percentage in the default SystemUI.... I got it in order to enable seconds again on the clock.
If you use an app called quickshortcutmaker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut you can scroll to find settings and click the down arrow, and find demo mode or system ui tuner and click on it then click try. Im not sure if this works in EMUI 9, but it works for me in EMUI 8.0.

You can install Shortcut maker and launch them the same as GoodLock, it's only a shortcut app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut Or you can use Nova launcher to do the same. Get apps from apkmirror.
No need to format.
Use an app, I use this . You switch to Normal search, then input Task Changer and search for it. Select the first app and press Try, it should open Task Changer settings and you can modify whatever you need to.
I'd like a better battery life too, not that I'm complaining much but if you don't know how to flash firmwares, it's easier to wait.
You can download a QuickShortcuts app and launch the specific action, such as changing the Lockscreen(LockStar), Status bar(Quick Star, etc). You gotta keep using this app until Good Lock becomes available outside South Korea.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
QuickShortcutMaker is also good for this kind of thing and for getting to menus for certain features carriers sometimes hide on their branded phones.
I know it's a different firmware, but the VoLTE subsystem in all of the ROMs is the same (Samsung Framework 6.0, I believe). You can access it if you get this app from the Play Store and open "IMS Settings":
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
However, with an AT&T SIM inserted into the unlocked model, it refuses to open. If I force the phone into T-Mobile mode (still on the Unlocked ROM) and then insert the AT&T SIM, everything populates correctly with AT&T VoLTE settings. I understand that they want me to use the AT&T model, but that's a bullshit excuse on their part, to be honest. I want a real, technical reason.
Use QuickShortcutMaker (Freeware). I couldn't find the setting on my device, so I can't give you the activity name directly. You can try to search "color" to see what comes up. Look for any activity label or name that resembles this, then tap on it and test it to see if it will open the setting directly (Note that not all activities can be launched outside of their parent app). If you find it and it works, tap "Create" on the activities window to create a home screen shortcut. You can even set a custom icon for shortcuts you create. Hope this can help you.
Not exactly what you asked for, but I used QuickShortcutMaker to add a home screen shortcut (search on "tether" then scroll down to Settings).
try installing this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Then what you want to do is make a shortcut for app management I think. It should take you to the same place as in the guide you linked, where you can disable most of the google apps.
Yes to the first question. You could even lock the bootloader again and remove Magisk once you're done if you really want.
As for Wi-Fi calling, you just need to access the setting for it, which can be done by getting a shortcut maker app like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Once you're in the shortcut app, just search for Wi-Fi calling and you can make a home screen shortcut to the setting.
You can use bxActions app... But I'm guessing you want to do this with Tasker as well...
Application: Bixby Home
Activity: Bixby Home
Package/Class: com.samsung.android.app.spage/com.samsung.android.app.spage.main.MainActivity
-- This information is exported by QuickShortcutMaker v2.4.0. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Edit: Nope, you can neither detect or kill it via Tasker (no root).
I forgot to mention that I didn't like the fact that the Lite apps just show up in launcher and app drawer with the name "Lite". I used QuickShortcutMaker to create launcher shortcuts with different names.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
Go into the app (I dunno how to upload screenshots, I'm sorry) and search for "Smart Settings". It should be on the bottom of a short list.
It says something like com.lge.iftttmanager underneath, that'll be it. Then select it, make the shortcut, find it on the home screen and profit.
I just used the app below to create a shortcut that brings you right to the wifi calling menu. I then uninstalled the app and the shortcut remains. You can find the shortcut under activitys and then the settings list... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
I will add that all of my profile settings seem to have reset to the default, including screen brightness and ringtone/notification sound/alarm sound. I can find no Google results for this exact problem.
It's not a permanent loss because I can set everything back the way it was, but it's super annoying.
To restore KnockOn/Double Tap To Wake, you need to install a Play Store app called QuickShortcutMaker, and search "normal" for the keyword "KnockOn".
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
I know you said without downloading an app but you can use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut it will create a flashlight shortcut for you and then you can delete the app and the shortcut will still be there.
I've noticed this on BOTH the 5x and the 5 sometimes the dang thing won't enable data. No rhyme of reason to it. It's a device issue when it fails on networks
What I've done is made a better link to get to this page
downloaded this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
Once you install that run it, let it load the Activities:
Type in the search: phone info (press enter on keyboard)
Should list 4-6 different apps, pick; Settings, and likely a few down the list is one with settings on first line and "phone info" on second, pick that one, RENAME the top field that now says "Settings" to maybe "Phone Info", Click Create
You will now see on your launcher when you hit the home button a shortcut directly to that Phone info screen - MUCH quicker way to access this when you roam now
Sometimes I also use that screen to force to LTE only (default is LTE/CDMA/UMTS) - that one still does 2G fallback. At times I force it to 2G GET a network then bump up.
Again never had to this on iOS so assuming Android radio code for Qcomm modems isn't the best if shuffling between lots of networks/bands
You can open the Oculus store without the headset on, which gives you a direct-launch shortcut for every Gear VR app you have installed in the library section.
But if you want more traditional shortcuts to put wherever, you can just use an app like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
EDIT: another idea: I've just confirmed that the mobile version of Samsung VR seems to run OK in a virtual/emulated environment using Genymotion, which might give you a really easy way to control playback using a laptop or whatever.
Launched it, on Activities I found "Emergency Alerts", then I scrolled to the settings activity and ran "Try".
Revealed a place to disable all that garbage.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
Lets you search for stuff and make shortcuts to basically any activity in any app, user or system. Pretty nifty little tool.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut Quick Shortcut Maker does the same, but has a way better ui. I've used it back in the gingerbread days but it still works great.
Download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
search for System UI demo mode tap 'Try' and you get access to the System UI Tuner.
For those who are wondering how this works. you may need two applications installed. Goodlock and Multistar. Also it also works on Pie version as well and for nodpi
once both APKs has been installed, try to open Multistar (if it does not show, download QuickShortCutMaker at Playstore)
Open QuickShortCutMaker, locate MultiStar and try to launch

Once MultiStar opens up, just enable "Use Multi window without pausing" and you're done

for those who uses Nova Launcher: press hold the homescreen, add widget then activities, lastly Locate Multistar and Enable. then you can enable "Use Multi window without pausing" from there.

EDIT:
Confirmed units so far S8+, Note 8, S9 and S9+
QuickShortcutMaker do not like it?
If you install gboard you can enable spell check for Android Apps, I have done this on both my Lenovo Duet and on my Pixelbook Go.
Once gboard is installed download the following App that allows you to access hidden android android menus - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
When you run the App search for spell.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/YdqP52kBsDFLTbQXA
Click "settings spell checker" and click try in the right panel
https://photos.app.goo.gl/d8njxgPtkQ4YWjAs6
Then change the android option to set gboard as the spell checker.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/i1F8uNPFfZCaCEZB6
Also works for increasing the Display settings for Android Apps such as Text Size and Display Size if you search for Display in the App, you do have to set the display settings after each reboot though.
Hope that helps some people 👍
step 1: install substratum and skip intro process it will say you are not rooted ignore that
step 2: install quickShortcutMaker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en

you will see this kind of output (without crosses ofcourse) it will depend on option you will select https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMQjJWovEWG-ZWKZaK5IzfSNKCq_Uat2A7Lye8G
spep 10: now i want to enable black system ui so i will type this command
cmd overlay enable --user 0 com.android.systemui.AccentsforO.BlackSystemUi
mostly it will show you black system ui but if it doesn't show up go to step 11 otherwise stop here
step 11: if theme isn't showing up, try disabling default or set priority of custom theme to highest
set custom theme to higher priority:

If you are getting into shortcuts, there's a few powerful apps to use, each varying a bit.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut An oldie but a goodie, I'm sentimental about this one.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.alextern.shortcuthelper U.I. is a bit cumbersome, but there's some nice organizational options, including import/export.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rascarlo.quick.settings.tiles Lets you create deep, custom shortcuts up in your quick tiles. Lotsa fun.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ninja.sesame.app.edge The king of shortcut integration. Especially when used with Nova.
And speaking of Nova, its got some nice native shortcut creation tools worth checking out if you haven't already.
Sorry, I get all antsy in my pantsy when on the subject of shortcuts. 🙂
You can with QuickShortcutMaker
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut should do it if the launcher has no activity widget.
you can either wait for it to be enabled officially or download this APP and enable it by yourself
No problem!
See the Lockscreen Customization using ADB section of this article to get an idea of what's going on with the commands and to test things manually.
(tutorial if you don't have ADB set up yet)
To do what I'm talking about here, install AutoTools and follow these instructions.
Then you can just follow the OP instructions:
AutoTools Secure Settings > Custom Setting > Secure; sysui_keyguard_left or sysui_keyguard_right; [package/activity name]
So that's
As I mention, you could use QuickShortcutMaker to get these values: find a shortcut in the app, try it to make sure it's what you want, then click share to get the PACKAGE/CLASS info. For example, for jumping into Google search with keyboard open, you can use
com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/com.google.android.apps.gsa.search_gesture.GestureActivity
That's all for the Task. You can run it to have the lockscreen shortcut or you could go one step further to have dynamic shortcuts with a Profile, for example the Headset Plugged State to trigger your Google Play Music lockscreen shortcut Task.
Hope that helps!
Use this app to explore each activity under the Google app and use whichever works as a shortcut.
Worked like a boss, plus I can use my icon packs for it too. It's called 'QuickShortcutMaker' - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
You can get the bundle right now. Download shortcut maker, search gear vr, and click try.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
and add shortcut back to the app drawer
Hmm odd, you can download this and try install them manually.
>Whenever I click a Quick Setting in my Notification Panel to turn on/off Wi-Fi or Data, I get a reminder that charges may apply, etc. I hate it.
This is LG's fault and unless you're rooted and have Xposed, there isn't much you can do to get rid of this. You could create a Tasker profile to handle this.
>When I'm browsing Reddit and I click on a hyperlink, my phone asks if I want to share, copy, or open the link. So far I have only ever wanted it to open.
Sounds like you're long-clicking on the link instead of just tapping on it quickly. Try shorter taps and see if that opens the link instead of asking for an action. If that's not the issue, try using a different reddit client.
>If I double tap my phone screen it wakes up. It also happens if I set the phone down too casually, put the phone into or take it out of my pocket, or move it in any number of other ways. I only want to use the power button to turn my phone on.
Some carriers will hide the menu option that enables/disables this feature. To disable it, download QuickShortcutMaker, open it, change search to "Normal Search" and search for 'knock'. A settings option will come up; click on it and hit 'Try' to to turn it off. You can probably uninstall the app afterwards.
>I don't want the phone to dim itself at 5% (I did find an option to modify behavior at 15%, but not 5).
Again, unless you're rooted and have Xposed, you can't change this.
>Finally, just a general question. I have two batteries and I have a charging case for the spare. I run my phone battery down to single digits, power off the phone, and switch batteries. Is this the best way to do it? Is powering off important or can I just pull out the battery and not worry about it?
As long as your phone isn't in the middle of running some important operation, you can simply pull the battery out when you swap it. It never hurts playing it safe and shutting down completely just to be sure, though!
FYI, you can also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut

I don't seem to have that on my Galaxy S8. I can seem to restrict background data and data when Data Saver is on, but not block wifi and data entirely per app.
Edit: Alright! Here's how to get to it if your phone manufacturer hid the option:
Alternate Method via Nova Launcher:
try xda site/all they do is make mods. and try this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en_US
Try this:

> Is there an easy way to launch sideloaded apks from inside the environment?
As far as I'm aware there is no way to do it at all. There is no "sideload launcher" app that you could run from within Oculus Home. There should be in my opinion, and I feel certain that at least one developer out there has probably created one, but I'm not sure that such an app would ever pass the submission process and be approved for any of the distribution channels that integrate it with Oculus Home.
> If not, do I simply load the older, "outside" software and start movie before putting the phone into the headset?
Yes. Upon launching the app from outside of the Oculus Home environment you will be prompted to insert your phone into the Gear VR headset at which point the app will run.
In order to launch it you can either create a shortcut to Samsung VR (com.samsung.vrvideo) using something like QuickShortcutMaker, or you could use Gala Launcher, or you could create a shortcut to the Gear VR Service* (com.samsung.android.hmt.vrsvc.MainActivity) which then gives you easy access to all the Oculus platform components, apps included: http://imgur.com/rnKxUz1
(enabling developer mode for the Gear VR Service gives you an option to create this shortcut automatically, among other things, but it's not necessary for your purposes)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Something like this
Or just get this app and do the same thing for any launcher
Also you can do this with additional app. For example QuickShortcutMaker
Install it, open it, select App you need to open, and press try.
Best thing - it works with any app.
P.S. I think there are other apps which do the same more easily. If not, creating one is quite easy I think.
Quick and easy process.
Tap the Try button
As long as you have a compatible galaxy model, the Oculus app should launch. Now you can download VR apps and games to your device ahead of time, your Gear VR experience will be fully loaded before UPS drops it off at your door.
Original Poster: /u/scginger
Just got a new S7 Edge myself, upgrading from a Note 4 and have GearVR arriving soon. Can confirm this method absolutely works.
Use this app, search "Gear" look for gear setup and hit "try"
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
Download this app search for "gear," click gear vr setup, then "try" and it'll start everything for you. From there you can set up an account and download the games
Great idea, and it definitely works well! I have to say, however, that I solved this issue months ago using QuickShortcutMaker to make shortcuts for all my apps in a VR folder on my home screen.
Suggestion: use QuickShortcutMaker app. Create shortcuts to the VR apps you really want your friend to play. Put them all in a folder on your phone screen.
Tell him, instead of launching them from Oculus home, simply launch them from your phone's home screen.
This is typically how I launch VR apps that I want to play. Quick and easy.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
then just find pad in the last inside QuickShortcutMaker and tell it to use whatever icon you want
it'll create another shortcut on your homescreen provided you have enough room on at least one homescreen
a) maybe because it's MM...i can map hold-power (while the screen is off) on KK
b) you could install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut so you map to this one (map to "Activities" then choose Apps there: Camera) BUT if your screen is off and you start an app this app will most likely not wake up the screen - although the app is started off-screen!... So, switching the phone_on first and then having a "shortcut" might be the better concept..
Install Quick Shortcut Maker and run it and search for gear. You should see Gear VR SetupWizard or something like that which you can run and it will install everything.
So download this app, quick shortcut maker, from the Play Store. There is a search bar up top, search for vr. Your gona see a few apps and that means your set for vr . If you want to set up vr and download apps before your get your gear click on Gear VR SetupWizzard and go through the process. Enjoy :)
Yeah of course. So download this app, quick shortcut maker, from the Play store. There is a search bar up top, search for vr. Your gona see a few apps and that means your set for vr . If you want to set up vr and download apps before your get your gear click on Gear VR SetupWizzard and go through the process. Enjoy :)
Download Quick Shortcut Maker from the Play Store. Search vr in the search bar. Look for Gear VR SetupWizzard. If you don't have it sadly your carrier has not released the firmware update to include VR services for the Note 5.
If you do have it click on it and start the setup and hopefully that helps. If not it might be a defective unit or others might have other reasons for it not working if you have the vr apps.
I saw that too on my Verizon Note 5. I was able to use QuickShortcutMaker to run the VR setup and install the Oculus store. It seems like I'm all set but no way to know until I get my Gear.
FYI - I had "QuickShortcutMaker" installed and was able to create a shortcut to Android Pay without Nova.
For those of you who are wondering how I did this: First make sure you're using 8.1+ version of Google Play Services (Here is a download link to 8.1.05). To check that go to Settings>Apps>All then Google Play Services. Once that's updated, if you have Nova Launcher installed, add an Activity shortcut (widget) to your desktop and go under Google Play Services and Android Pay will be in there. If you don't have Nova installed, apparently there is a way to do it using QuickShortcutMaker.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
launch that, search for 'usb pc'
that should narrow it down to a couple options, one of them should be settings, expand that and choose 'USB PC Connection'
from there you can launch it or make a homescreen shortcut for easy access
There's always QuickShortcutMaker if you don't like KeyPlus.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut&hl=en
Install QuickShortcutMaker and using Normal Search, search for unlock. On my AT&T H810 the package was called com.lge.hiddenpersomenu and the sub was SIM Unlock Process.
Tap that if it exists on your Sprint phone and tap Try to open the SIM unlock menu.
I swear mine (a Tmobile version) acted the way your friend's did, but I tested today and couldn't replicate it.
I know it sounds dumb but try this: drag the "Phone" app from app drawer to desktop and try launching that. Same results?
If so, try using an app like "QuickShortcutMaker" to see if you can make a shortcut directly to the dialer activity, then give it the phone icon.
The Gear VR is worth it, much better than the plastic cardboards.

Currently still on KK but I use QuickShortcutMaker to get the easter egg. Works with any launcher.
Once everything loads up, go to the activities tab, scroll to System UI and tap to open it. More "System UIs" show up, but you want the one with the subtitle "Dessert Case". Tap it and edit some of the shortcut settings and press create to add it to your homescreen.

You can install LockStar by Samsung if you want to change your Lock Screen with a working, battery neutral first party App. You can even design your own lockscreen!
If you live in Canada, South Korea or some other select country you can simply go into the Galaxy Apps and download the Good Lock 2018 package with LockStar.
If you live anywhere else it's a little more complicated:
Download the apk provided here and install the App. You then need "Quick Shortcut Maker" from the Playstore.
Open QuickShortcutMaker, scroll down to L and click on LockStar, then the first option and "Try". The LockStar App will open now and you can customize and apply your own lockscreen.
