Check out BoredSigns. Been using it for about a month. It's pretty nice... allows some extra functionality (and some wow factor) over the default items on the second screen.

It's actually very easy to replace, the phone comes apart very easily for complete access from the inside to push out any glass. Clean the area very thoroughly so the adhesive can stick well.

> I would say a shameful list.
The shortness of the list is shameful, yes.
Also note that many of the USB-C offering do not necessarily have the same Slimport (4K HDMI and ethernet over USB-C) support as the G5 and V20 have.
Many newer phones such as the G6, G7 and V40 lack it.
> planned obsolescence.
The V20's implementation of removable battery is top notch, in my experience:
Allowing for:
However, one could also make a list (not so easy with GSM Arena) with recent phones where it is relatively easy to DIY replace the battery after (say) one year. The V30, OnePlus 6 and Pocofone F1 would be on that list. But you need to Google "iFixit battery <model number>" for that.
You can also go with a GUI interface thanks to u/zacharee1
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
Also allows you to get rid of the pesky heads up notifications so that they're confined to the secondary screen.
Same thing happened to me about a month ago. I've had the phone since launch, and have always had it in a Spigen case. Luckily the glass is super easy to replace and should not cost more than $12. Here's a link to Amazon for the part I got.

I'm just as confused as you are I had both installed and never had that many options and none of the changelog mention adding widgets.
Use night screen https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.papdt.blackblub Set it to overlay screen mode and slider almost all the way to the right and turn it on by tapping the sun icon so it becomes Moon.
There's nothing specifically for Android and USB-C, but chances are a simple USB-C to Ethernet adapter will work just fine:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Aluminum-1-Gigabit-Compatible-ChromeBook/dp/B00ZZ6NW5E
It is a bit expensive, but I trust Anker's quality, and it's Amazon, so it's pretty easy to return if it doesn't work.
it is likely a coincidence. Retention is the most common issue with this phone. My first one suddenly developed mild retention after several months. and my second one I picked up used started fairly quickly as well
Slightly adjusting the color balance mostly eliminates it. There are a few night shade type apps people have had results with if you search around, if rooted and using a custom kernel the go to method is kcal , putting the settings from that thread into the kernel auditor app
> Which app did you end up using for your strip?
Also sometimes I'm an ass who changes channels on Public Televisions like Mc Donalds.
I think it happens to everybody who uses it on a non-pixel phone. Thankfully, someone made an app called GCam Tool to deal with it. Here's a link to it on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apptuners.gcamtool
I used this :https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner You need adb on your computer to used it. It was made for the v20 "While I made this for my LG V20, since LG removed the stock SystemUI Tuner" -zacharee1 , it also adds night shift to the quick menu.

I first used AKT over a year ago on my US996 (only used as a WiFi/data device) on an older LineageOS-based Nougat ROM and then later on my daily driver LS997 on a stock-based Nougat ROM. Since I'm a light-to-moderate user and pretty much started my LS997 with AKT since day 1, I can't really tell how much this actually helps battery life compared to other tweaks. But I definitely see zero cons in having it installed. A while back, there was a short discussion on AKT by V20 users over at the XDA forums.
The setup is very simple: You just install the apk, pick SD820, then select a profile (several options based on battery, performance, and balance) and reboot. Keep in mind that this was released before Oreo existed, so I'm not sure how different it would be for that.
Additionally, another similar tweak worth looking at is the Magisk module called LKT. I actually switched from AKT to it on my LS997 a few months ago to test but couldn't see any difference in battery life.
Again, I think you'd have to be a heavy user to see a difference for these kinds of tweaks, but definitely check them out if you're rooted and curious. As always, make a TWRP Nandroid backup before you try.
I can't find my specific one available any more, but the one I purchased was pretty generic.
Sometimes the best solution is the simplest one.
If you search on Amazon for a phone dock you have many like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HPI5AM2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xO8tAb5WK05S0
The width on the one that I purchased though, worked out perfectly for the v20 ports.
I can Quickcharge my "docked" phone, and also pick it up to type, and use headphones.
All the docks that we're native to the v20 had one problem or another.
I do something similar, but not. I have 3-4 batteries, and I charge them externally and keep them ready at 100%. I have one at school/work and keep one in my backpack. The only batteries I've "killed" in over a year are 1 crappier aftermarket one, and 1 knock-off/questionable OEM battery, which it looks like you have a mountain of.
Stop draining them to 0, pull them at 40%. And jeez, use your phone a little less? If you're using satnav for 17 hours straight, plug it into a car charger and use an app like Battery Charge Limit to automatically "tend" the battery by enforcing a charge limit. If you're draining 4 batteries from 100 to 0 and charging them back up to 100% over the course of a day, of course you're going to kill them quickly. I'm just kind of baffled at how you're using it that much. At worst, I swap batteries at like 5 or 6 PM.
How are you charging the batteries externally? The official LG BCK-5200 (the white clamshell charger) or one of those knock-off black ones that just plugs right into the wall? If you're using the official one, plug it into something that can't output more than 500 mA. The charger will draw up to like 2A and will charge them faster but will also kill your batteries quicker. You can force 500 mA by using any QC2.0 or 3.0 certified charger (including the one that came with the phone) and using a USB3.0 A-to-C cable. Since it can't negotiate QC the charger will drop to 500 mA. The black aftermarket battery chargers already have an even lower current output.
Terrible battery? Buy a new one, its one of the major features why many choose not to leave this phone.
Slow performance? YMMV. I for one never had a problem except for the screen ghosting effect but that is easily correctable by downloading Night Screen.
Camera? get GCam.
etc? There is rarely any bootloops reported within this model.

I would say go for it, its been a great phone for me for the past 2 years, absolutely love it.
Its a theme called "pixel experience" its has two variants, light and dark and both are equally amazing... You should definitely try them...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixelexperience
My V20 was an upgrade from a Droid Turbo, too! Every now and again i still miss the "twist" or "chop" gestures to turn on camera/flashlight, hehe.. Anyways, I have a Powerbear extended battery and so far performing well. I think their stock-size battery is good too.
For de-bloating, i think there may be more permanent and/or elegant methods with root, but i followed something similar to these instructions to use adb commands to disable some pre-installed apps: https://www.reddit.com/r/lgg6/comments/6mlzpx/how_to_remove_pesky_system_apps_like_facebook/?st=j56yeiht&sh=4fd14295
Accubattery is good, "BetterBatteryStats" is good too to identify wakelocks. The latter requires some ADB stuff, as well.
Also, though you didnt ask you should probably know: you will most likely experience image retention at some point if you haven't already. Easy fix is using an app like "Nightscreen" to ever-so-slightly-and-nearly-not-noticeably dim/alter the screen brightness to prevent the retention. (Again, there is a more permanent and elegant solution with root, if that is a route you prefer or want to consider) Good luck!
> Downsides : generally no notification #'s on icons. And icons are huge.
Have you tried Lean Launcher? a customizable launcher based on Google Now Launcher.
You can use ADB if you're not rooted: https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
I'm rooted so I did mine using ROM Toolbox Pro so I could have a visual of what was installed as a user app or system app, freeze or uninstall, and various other things.
Start with common sense stuff and go from there.
If you don't know what something is, Google it. Many of LG's processes and services have retained the same or similar name throughout subsequent generations, so a lot of what was said about debloating something like the G4 is still applicable.
There's a smaller 5.2" version of the V20 that was sold in Europe (Q8) and Japan (V34).
It gains water resistance but loses the removable battery.

viper conflicts with the dac (it processes the audio in software rather than letting the dac handle it, especially if you do this tweak to let the dac handle more audio.
That said, I also had a hard time with viper. But if you're using supersu, get that crap off and switch to magisk: among other advantages it has a super easy way to install viper4android and several other mods: modules, right inside the magisk manager app under the downloads section (the version of viper I used to use is the one with two authors).
To switch from supersu, first download the latest magisk release from the thread then open your SuperSU app and head to the Settings tab, then scroll down and select the "Full unroot" option. From here, tap "Continue" on the first popup, then SuperSU will ask if you'd like to restore your stock boot image — make sure to tap "Yes" here. Finally, it'll ask if you want to restore the stock recovery image, but you'll still need TWRP to flash Magisk, so tap "No." After a few seconds the phone will reboot.
Reboot into twrp ( hold vol down , hold power until the screen comes on, then tap the power button repeatedly (still holding volume down) until it asks if you want to factory reset, say yes twice) and flash that magisk zip (install, browse to where saved, usually internal storage/download, tap it, swipe to confirm flash)
I have a V20 with 10k zerolemon and a dashcam.
One thing I notice was V20 would barely run when its hot from the sun (CPU throttle?)
Zerolemon might have help with the bigger back case.
I think there is a maximize video recording limitation because I remember getting that while recording a concert.
But seems there are apps for this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.happyconz.blackbox
As long as it auto records when power on (ie when car is turn on) Auto delete after a certain space used (so old file gets deleted when needed space for new video)
I haven't tried this way. I am using my action camera and turn it to dash cam since it has those auto start, record. Turn off when no power and record/delete when full options.
There is a don't record with no motion, but I turn it off cause there is a delay.
Sadly, LG apps won't work outside of LG stock ROMs.
I haven't done much with other IR remote apps, but for gallery, I suggest either QuickPic Mod or Simple Gallery.
I've been using "auto call recorder" for over a year with good success, stock vs995. It only record the past 200 calls for free, but I have drop box and drop sync set up to constantly copy my call so I have them all.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appstar.callrecorder
They sell a single battery too, for a stock replacement I don't think it gets much better.
I personally use Windscribe, and have used them for years. They have a really clean Andriod App and offer 10gb (15 if you verify on Twitter) free. Though if you want one of the best VPNS Private Internet Access is hands down the best. I recommend using to make sure the VPN you use it good and meets your requirements.
VPNs can be used for different purposes. The main ones:
I recently switched from Ironsocket to NordVPN. I can recommend both, Used Ironssocket for two years.
Experience with NordVPN has only been for a couple of days, but it has made a good impression.
This is one of the sources that I used when checking for new one, also has a good intro about VPNs:
You probably want to avoid any free VPNs, or free VPN apps, as they actually do the opposite of what you want to use a VPN for.
Reposting my comment from a previous thread:
It mentions the G6 and V30 in the Play Store title, but it's actually referring to LG UX 6.0 as those devices had it first. With the Oreo upgrade on the V20, we've also moved from LG UX 5.0 to LG UX 6.0.

After several Samsung phones I switched to LG when they stopped including the IR blaster, those who aren't spoiled to it simply don't understand.
If you have a blaster and haven't tried it, I highly recommend Anymote a very straightforward, but capable remote app.
I used the non-root app Edge Gestures before and it was pretty solid, but there's definitely a reliability and performance bump using the Xposed app.
While not as nice as not having the problem in the first place, install iBlue, chose the black filter, and set it to the lowest setting (the top slider; the bottom is just screen brightness and makes no difference). No more screen retention.
I recommended that app because it doesn't require data permission, like most similar apps.
Uninstall them and try 'Simple Social' and 'Messenger Lite'
Yes no need to root for me. I use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.papdt.blackblub It has completely fixed screen retention problem for me. Set it to overlay mode and the slider almost to the right side. Click on the sun icon to become Moon icon to turn on the app. The overall change to the screen should be minimal depending on the slider but it totally fixes the retention problems.
I'm guessing the original white point used by the nav bar and status bar are causing the retention issues. The app changes the white point thereby solving the retention issues.
I made an app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
It's under Quick Settings.
You can also use ADB:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qqs_count COUNT
Or from the device itself, rooted:
su settings put secure sysui_qqs_count COUNT
It's this great free app called Pie Control. You can have it minimal like I do or customize it to have different colors, multiple layers, multiple functions, etc.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jun.ace.piecontrol&hl=en
Make sure to take the film off of the finger print scanner.
Enable HiFi in sound settings, I believe default is off for some reason. Only works via wired headphones (idk your level of knowledge on this, so don't get irritated if you already know that).
Leave the film on over the camera.
LG's skin isn't trash this time around, and there are themes for the V20 on play store that changes look of UI, including dialer, settings, messaging, file manager, music player and icons. If you use Nova or other launcher, it'll will deal with home screen icons, but the rest will still take advantage of the themes. I like this one, and the screenshots they show are an example of what themes change. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.pixel
I'd suggest a case to help keep the camera lens on the back from making contact with any hard surface, since some people have had issues with it cracking. https://youtu.be/nBlUL-7Dl4U
Also suggested Gboard, but that is user preference, LG's keyboard isn't horrible, but I found its auto correct to be lacking.
> I downloaded a year old version of Netflix's app through apkmirror.
OK, but what would be the advantage of that older version over using the official, up-to-date Netflix app from the Play Store?
Cool, thanks! It is called "Test patterns" - I can also get that on Neflix Spain.
UPDATE: It looks like you may be onto something. I have played a couple of these test videos. In the description, all say 3840x2160 in the title, with different fps numbers, e.g. 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 etc.
However during playback, in the top right corner it always says "1280x720", e.g. for no 6. (50 fps) it says
It does not make a difference if I am playing on the phone-only or phone+the Dell monitor. Using the Netflix app from the Play Store.
I want to check and compare on my other Netflix-capable devices tomorrow. E.g. I am also frequently using the Netflix app on a PS3 connected to a 55" Full HD tv. I don't have a 4K/HDR subscription, btw. So I would expect to get FullHD max.
> Edit: related question - is this really going to be the last major flagship with a removable battery?
So far (for 2018) it is (26 results, no flagship):
Of course there are different degrees of removable. E.g. the OP6 and the Poco F1 make it relatively easy to self-replace the otherwise fixed batteries after they wear out (google "iFixit battery <model>"). Also Moto Z-series has battery Moto Mods. In a way better (Mods can swap without reboot), also way more expensive per battery than V20's US$ 15 batteries.
Yeah generally taking an official update while rooted fucks things up wait for rom developers to make up something.
You should go in with titanium backup or another system app disabler/freezer and disable/freeze fota update and anything that starts with system update.
None of the tempered glass screen protectors are perfect, mainly due to the contours at the top & bottom of the v20 screen. There are some which are "good enough" so it's up to you whether you're willing to settle.
Most of the time you're gonna get a piece of glass that's too short so it doesn't cover all the screen, some of them don't even bother to cover the second screen at the top. Or you'll get one that is long as the whole screen but doesn't adhere properly at the top & bottom of the screen where it contours.
And any screen protector that is advertised as being curved to fit the contours of the v20 screen is a flat out lie.
I dislike having to use a plastic film type screen protector, but if you want 100% coverage it's the best option in my opinion. This is what I've been using and despite some negative reviews on Amazon, I have zero issues.
Supershieldz LG V20 Screen Protector
The Perfine is a Li-Polymer vs the original Li-Ion. There are other competitors but they were among the first to have these batteries. You get more battery life and can still use the original back plate (however some model might find it a tight fit).
It's "image retention" not burn and it's temporary. There are a bunch of ways to reduce the issue for example Bluelight Filter.
From what I deduce there were early batches of V20s that had that problem. Some of the newer ones have a full glass cover but apparently they still cracked. But honestly you can replace it with the plastic replacement and its just fine again.
You must have damaged it somehow. If possible disassemble and check the camera connections. It's fairly easy to take it apart.
Copied comment from another user:
"I switched from sFilter to iBlue because sfilter was using a lot of mobile data (somehow despite restrict background data iirc).
iBlue has used 0 B since I installed it (beginning of June)."
// This should work too https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.panagola.app.bluef&hl=en
Like all non OEM batteries I tested the temperature seems to fluctuate less and defaults to a specific temperature most of the time
Sure!
Yes it's 2 apps....
The first one is "Gcam" that's short for Google Camera. Basically a couple of developers managed to port the camera app from the Google Pixel phone, to a bunch of other phones with similar processers. Because of it's software (HDR+) it can make your shots look incredible. Which is why many people here have been using it alongside, or even instead of the stock camera app. This cannot be found on the Google Play Store, you can grab it from XDA (I'll link it if you're interested).
The second app is "Snapseed" which is a Google app that can be found on the Google Play Store, and it's (in my opinion) the best photo editor available for Android. (I'll link this as well)
Link to Gcam: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76838244&postcount=851
Link to Snapseed: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.niksoftware.snapseed
Enjoy! Let me know if you have any further questions
In case anyone is looking for a good QR scanner, Barcode Scanner is open-source and quite widely used.
Looks like you accomplished what you wanted, but as an aside here's an app that allows a lot more customization of second screen (widgets, images, etc).
It does cost a couple bucks, but works without root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.boredsigns
I used Reddit is Fun for a long time, and then started using BaconReader about 6 months ago. Both are fantastic apps.
If you're on stock Oreo, you can install the latest version here: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/lgelectronics/lg-gallery/lg-gallery-7-10-43-release/
It's newer than any version of the stock gallery app found in Oreo on the V20. It's straight from the LG V30 or 35, can't remember which exactly.
> phone with a swappable battery and IR blaster.
Had to check on your favorite feature combo. The V20 is indeed in rare company.
The V20 was released in October 2016. Since then, there was only one other phone released with that feature combination, the (unknown to me) Panasonic P55 Max - July 2017.
GSMarena.com is always a good place to start:
90 results for 2016-now, Android 7.0 and up and Android
2 results for 2016-now, Android 7.0 and up and Android + flagship CPUs:
I'm just waiting for the phone to ship to me, so this information might not be 100% but I do have a Note 4 with a SD Card.
For the downloads location, I'm using Samsung Internet which the downloads automatically went to my SD Card, you can change it in the app settings (you can download it and install it from here)
For the Camera/DCIM there might be a setting (storage location) in the camera appication to save the photos the SD card.
Sorry if this isn't helpful or doesn't work
LG Backup is mainly for unrooted users, so Titanium Backup would still beat it by a mile because it can restore app data in the data\data directory under the root portion. Rooted users with Titanium Backup can restore apps with all logins/passwords/credentials still intact, so everything is left the same way as it was from the previous phone.
The only exception would be if a particular app uses a phone's specific hardware ID to identify a user. Then you might have to set up your credentials again.
The one recent downside of Titanium Backup is that it cannot handle the newer split APK format of apps, so restoring those apps will fail. Instead, you'd have to manually install the app first and then just restore the app data via Titanium Backup.
I think Swift Backup is a similar backup app like Titanium that does support split APKs, but I haven't tried it yet since it was a paid-only app for a long time until recently.
I'm going for a Spigen case. I had one for my Note 4 that worked well and looked good. I ordered this one off amazon: Link It's not my favorite look, but there's not much to choose from quite yet.
Just received this case yesterday. Got it in 3 days (free shipping from amazon). I like it so far. The case is very clear and comes with protective "layers" that are peeled off to keep it looking clear after it is shipped to you. The camera hump and front screen are protected as the case comes slightly above the phone itself. All ports are accounted for. The headphone jack and charging port have pretty open cutouts but anything overly large may be a slight issue. It's not really any smaller than any other case though so this doesn't really take anything away from this case. I purchased a dbrand front/back/camera skin that is on it's way, so i'll update you on whether or not I continue to use the case with the skin... Also a screen protector that doesn't come all the way to the sides of the screen may get lifted up by this case when you squeeze the sides, further info once I get a tempered and non tempered screen protector (on the way)to test this out.
Found this on Amazon. Thought I would share.
I got my phone under the same promotion, I picked up a Ringke Onyx from Amazon.
Its great, it thickens the phone a little bit and makes it much easier to hold.
I have the Poetic Revolution on mine. It's an AMAZING case! It's NOT bulky, but it is quite rugged. One thing that I absolutely love is that the volume buttons are ACTUALLY buttons. The volume up and down is so much easier to operate now. It's $17 on Amazon, but you can get it for less than $12 on eBay. It is worth twice what it costs! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IRR0VCE/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_IRV5ybG3W3REX
i got these
Yoshida Amazon
I have charging set up with a Microsoft USB c dock. It charges. I got it on Amazon for $50, but it's a bit harder to find now.
And I have it with mouse, keyboard, screen. It's literally a computer.
Microsoft Display Dock for Lumia 950 or 950 XL (HD-500) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I749CKO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_qdqRBbCAMV9FJ
Grabbed one from Amazon for my first v20 and it worked fine (after getting a bad one from witrigs, though I had good luck with everything else from witrigs) until the board/charging port literally let the magic smoke out a couple momths later (the USB port on it was acting off for a long time even before the screen swap)
Yeah, on stock itself, the lag probably heavily depends on how many apps you have installed that support sharing, and all you can do besides the two disabling options mentioned above (these don't exist on Nougat, by the way) is pin apps to the top and unpin them when long-pressing.
Now I have never done this since I rarely use the sharing function, but you could try another app that replaces the standard share menu and see if it works faster. One such app is Sharedr.
The screen issue is called "image retention", and seems to affect most V20s. You can reduce it significantly using a screen filter app.
Install SFilter Lite:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sisomobile.android.brightness_lite&hl=en_US
Open the app, set the opacity to 10%, and set the color to black.
Enable the blue light filter setting at the top. That's it.
If desired, long-press the persistent notification in the notification shade and disable it.
Note that some operations such as installing side-loaded apps or changing certain security settings will not work while the screen filter is active. In that case, just turn it off temporarily, do what you need to do, then turn it back on. Otherwise I leave it running all the time.
You can try apps like Greenify that make apps running in the background "hibernate"
Doesn't need root access but will run better on a rooted phone.
To edit your Kernel settings, you need to use an app. Kernel Adiutor (yes that's how it's spelled!) Is easily the best, and it's free!
Cheers
I haven't done mods yet I'm waiting for my thermal pads to come in the mail tomorrow. This is the app I used: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=skynet.cputhrottlingtest
In order to accurately compare do exactly what I did I cleared all running apps and let the phone relax for 15 minutes and then turned on airplane mode for another 5 minutes and then I started the test then you let the test run without touching it and it will shut itself off and stop at 15 minutes
Not even surprised, always thought this app looked super sketchy.
If anyone needs an alternative, Night Screen (also available on on F-Droid) is simple, free, and open-source.
> Resources on IR blasting uncommon devices.
> I've got a oscillating fan, its IR remote is lost.
I think there is a question mark missing somewhere...
Either way, I was curious too, so did some googling. Found this on googling "how to find IR profile for fan"
This is an open source database of IR codes for various devices..
... and this is an app called "RCoid free" that is supposed to be able to use those. (Googled "irdb Android play store")
Haven't tested this myself, though. So good luck.
If you can't get off Oreo, find the sFilter app on Google Play as that's the only screen-dimming app I've found that still works.
I connect it to my 24" monitor for photo editing and general use.
I also connect it to a TV to play games with a controller lag free.
No idea if you can run an external touch enabled display. I'm sure if you search the web you'll eventually find someone else who has tried who can report back.
Regarding the desktop functionality, there are a number of different ways to accomplish this. Android natively supports keyboards and mice (I use a Bluetooth set). The only real issue is the default scaling, which is where other apps come in. I use one called Second Screen which allows a bunch of customization, including changing the DPI to something more appropriate for a large external screen (I run 240).
Here are my profile settings for Second Screen: Screenshot
Yes the phone is shitty slow, and the battery doesn't last. Do install two apps to benchmark this:
My phone is shit as f*** in its current state, and gives numbers no sd820 should, and that no 3200mah should.
Like all non OEM batteries I tested the temperature seems to fluctuate less and defaults to a specific temperature most of the time (31.2 °C)
This is already known, to my understanding most people use Night Screen and set it on 80-85%.
I'd rather trust that than your random zip tbh
You can use this app called Night Screen:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.papdt.blackblub&hl=en
Set it to "Overlay System Mode". If you leave it in "Normal Mode", then you will see the same problem as with sFilter. Setting the top slider just slightly less than all the way to the right seems to be sufficient to avoid screen retention.
A must edit should be making the horizon perfectly horizontal.
An edit of choice would be either to boost the saturation a little if you like more color and/or add more sharpening/detail to the picture.
Snapseed is your best friend in this regard, just don't overedit and you're good to go.
Thanks for the tip!
To be clear, there are 2 different apps in the play store named "Night Screen". This is the one we want:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.papdt.blackblub
I had been using sFilter Lite to avoid screen retention, and it does a great job of that, but recently I noticed that it interferes with the Facebook app. For example, you if you go into the settings or initiate a new post, then you can't interact with resulting screen.
With Night Screen, I see the same problem if the app is set to "Normal mode", but if I set it to "Screen overlay mode", then it avoids the problem. Cool! I think I will be staying with this app.
Night Screen is also very small, open source, no ads. Kudos to the dev!
Try Night screen. Click the icon (should be "sun" icon by default) to change to "moon" mode, move the slider a smidge from the far-right, and set to "Overlay System Mode".
For a buck you could try this... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.boredsigns
Pretty sure you can return within certain short period of time on Google play ya? If it doesn't work...

Is your brightness set to the max at all times? If it is burn in, download sFilter LITE It's the lite version of the sFilter app. Turn on the Blue Light Filter. I set it to 20% personally, but I've read others go with 10%. I also chose to use black for the filter color.
Is it an app made by facebook? No thanks.
I've been using Hermit to keep FB's bullshit sandboxed as much as possible.
As far as I know, Google never built that into the original app to begin with.. which is unsurprising since Pixel 2 doesn't have SD card slot... suckers, lol..
That being said, I am not sure if this would offer that function, but there's a recently-made new app called GCam Tool that helps automatically move around photos taken with gcam to other folders.
Yes.. the schedule option seems like a nobrainer.
That's why people need Twilight / Dimmer.
And comfort view should reduce the minimum brightness as well to match Dimmer.

Also, what I gather about the Mate 9's system, it sounds just right.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.papdt.blackblub Set it to overlay screen mode and slider almost all the way to the right and turn it on by tapping the sun icon so it becomes Moon.
I just copied what /u/newnexus5 said on a previous post, it works tho'.
The "Stitch & Share" app can do that, though you have to take various screenshots by yourself in order to merge them within the app -> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glitch.stitchandshare
you can remove shitty script from LG, so prevent the script draining battery:

Not OP, but link so others don't have to Google it:
My thoughts:
Definitely looks neat. Though personally, I am more a fan of cases with kickstands, which result in a bulkier package than this one.
How about Pixel Ui? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.pixel
It makes the stock keyboard look like GBoard, but it won't actually expand any touch areas, just remove the borders.
Hey, I got just the solution for you!
I found this app that allows you to bypass the lock password... Mildly concerning but it works.... It's supposed to be a V10 thing but works on the v20, you can straight up get into your pics no issues.

If you want to fix burn in download night screen by paper plane dev team and have it on all the time. You should have the slider right around 90 and run it in overlay system mode. link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.papdt.blackblub
On my H990DS SEA (daily driver - settings and apps migrated from my previous Android phone, a Moto X Play):
On my H990DS AME (spare, not used daily) The 2nd option "Spelling correction" is missing.
However, also under:
So suggestion/question: did you already download Gboard and set that under Current keyboard? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.inputmethod.latin&hl=en
Also: which version of the H990DS does she have? Can be found under:
Rooting with the LG ROM (a previous version) is the only way to root. I had to downgrade from a 10m LG ROM to a 10k for the rooting vulnerability, and then install TWRP.
The main advantage of sticking with a rooted LG based ROM than AOSP is that the second screen works and Zach's enhancements also work well. Despite this, the second screen functionality is currently very limited, and I feel that LG squandered a big opportunity in limiting its features.
Cons of going rooted LG-stock ROM: 1. Magisk does not work (at least I could not get it to work with MegaROM v4), so none of the Pay apps will work. 2. No stock Android feel (since there is the LG skin/theme). 3. Lot of workarounds to get to a fairly stable (Nexus6P level) - see RCTD in OP, etc.
I made an app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
It's under Quick Settings.
You can also use ADB:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qqs_count COUNT
Or from the device itself, rooted:
su settings put secure sysui_qqs_count COUNT
thanks for the comment! you are one of the 1/100 of people who read something when we leave help or tips on here, find what theyre looking for, and then take the time to let us know it helped! Most of the time Im left wondering what happened
Also, Foldery is pretty simple; nice and clean and dows one job (kind of) well. If you want to check out an app that does a similiar function and much, much more, see Folder Organizer. Ive been using it for probably close to 5 years now or more. It lets you make folders from apps and create shortcuts to them, but it has other tricks like scrolling widgets, icon changing etc etc.
No it is not possible.
The first link you posted (Battery icon with percentage shown inside) works without root on other devices, but not on the LG V20.
The second link (circular battery icon with percentage inside) IIRC is not an icon replacement, but available as a widget (shown in notifications)
I use this app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=zanojmobiapps.batterypercentage&hl=en) to show the battery percentage on my second screen as a notification when the primary screen is off.
Edit: forgot to add that I've disabled notification on the lockscreen for the app so that it doesn't persistently take up the space.
Sure here ya go.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.red
It's pretty nice, the first blue theme the guy had made was nice as well but it was far to strong IMO for regular use on your eyes. The red and black is a nice compromise and looks great.
I'm waiting and hoping he cokes out with a similar theme to the red and black, but with a lime green in reds place. He has a lighter shade of green in another theme but it's not what I'm looking for in green.
