$520 on samsung website, which you can stack a unidays/mil/edu discount on for $480 plus I believe you can stack another 10% from cashback websites.
Even cheaper if you want a verizon model

Protein powder is best used as a supplement, try not to rely on it. That being said, myprotein is always running deals on their impact whey. It's not an isolate, but it's arguably the best value around. Check out Slickdeals, they usually run a sale once a week for cheap.
Edit:. Yup, here's a current sale https://slickdeals.net/f/10431520-myprotein-2-x-5-5lb-impact-whey-protein-bonus-0-55lb-whey-1-delivery-for-49-99?src=sticky
It's all good! Pc parts are ok! :)

FUCKING 5930K FOR THE PRICE OF AN I3. WTFFFF
Yeah, I noticed this as well.
Deal aggregators like Slickdeals are covered with Ryzen processors.
A couple I found notable:
I get why Summit Ridge might see deals, as Pinnacle Ridge is probably ~3 mo away.
However, I'm not sure what's going on with Threadripper. It only just came out about 3 mo ago, so it's not even close to being replaced. And since Threadripper is based on Epyc, I bet the earliest we could see a replacement is in 2019 when 48-64C Rome drops.
If you haven't been following the SlickDeals thread about this deal with older laptops could potentially be YMMV depending on who is helping you.
With my own experience today I was able to trade in my 20 year old Toshiba Satellite 225cds without issue and had some laughs when I pulled it out of my backpack.
I also was able to trade in two laptops without issue too. Secone laptop was a Sony VAIO with XP. Once again YMMV this is up to the person helping you as the link says limit 1 per customer and the guy helping me said "probably up to 5".
DEAD. Promotions were removed from accounts that claimed the promotion, but didn't spend it. Rookies.
This shot up on Slickdeals, and I'm surprised no one posted here yet:

Hello there! I'm a bot here to inform users how Rakuten works.
Rakuten works with many different sellers and they can be sometimes be less-than-trustworthy. There have been multiple cases of credit card fraud and identity theft reported on SlickDeals, and an incident where users here on /r/buildapcsales received a different item than they purchased. As always, be wary when giving your credit card number or personal information online, and do research on the seller beforehand.

Also some people reporting that they didn't get the previous $1 credit, but this time it worked for them. Looks like totally random, or an algorithm that google only knows.

Their current sale has 11 lbs for $50

https://slickdeals.net/ This is the site I use to scan for protein sales and it should be at the top of the page. It looks like it may have expired though, as I'm unable to use the coupon now- I ordered a couple days ago. But keep checking because it seems like every couple weeks, they'll do a coupon at a similar pricepoint. Disregard the expiration I just tried it with the french toast and salted caramel flavors and only the caramel worked. So it may only be for certain flavors.

These sorts of sales will pop-up and will stay up until they are sold out or for 30 minutes so you gotta act fast!
How these usually work is they list them 1 item at a time and when it sells out a new item pops up and so on until everything is gone.
Some examples (Taken from SD here https://slickdeals.net/f/11518691) :
Note, This is NOT a order in which they will come up, this is just a list and they will pop up randomly.
~~Shipping is $5 or Free with Prime~~. Shipping is borked at the moment and looks to be charging people the fee regardless of prime
As noted at at slickdeals and on this sub, some Target stores are weirdly marking new Pebble Times down to $99 on clearance. I used the product number (057-03-0127) in this store inventory checker and found one an hour away. I called to confirm, and they held it for me at guest services. A car ride later, I had my fancy new Pebble Time!
Use Code: SLICK170 at checkout for the $400 price point. Rebate below gets you to $300.
(first post on here, so hope I'm doing this OK).
Edit from user below:
Heads up. Rebate only works if you use the Slickdeals direct link, so if you purchased already using another site I don't think you'd qualify
Special Instructions > Must click through Slickdeals link for proper tracking and attribution. When filing a rebate, please mail with a trackable label. If it's lost without tracking information, there is little we can do to find it. Please see our blog for additional breakdown on rebates --> http://slickdeals.net/article/news/how-to-ensure-successful-slickdeals-rebate-submissions/ I would also suggest reading the rest of the fine print on the rebates page. You never want to miss out on a requirement that could cost you the rebate, especially if it's $100.

If I could make 1 suggestion.. If you go the ryzen route.. Literally another 40$ gets you a 1700x and board if your close to a microcenter. Same board.. 1700x.. 8 cores instead of 6.. Just throwing it out there..
Slickdeals are having people comment about their pre-orders being cancelled if they ordered more than 3 or had multiple orders under the same account / card.
They have them but they just don't do a good job at advertising them. These are available right now for 99 cents.
Kong: Skull Island The Fate of the Furious Chips A Dog's Purpose Bad Moms Sleepless Fences Moonlight The Dark Knight
Or you could just get something very similar for less than $1500 with a ton of freebies too.
FYI, no trade in, no unlimited plan upgrade required. The finance amount is $288 meaning you can pay off the phone at any time for $288 (unlike buying through verizon where the finance amount is the full price of the phone).
info here: slickdeals
You can put the following under "things they don't want you to know":
1) Unique unlimited data option that can be repurposed.
These can help with going to streaming only in areas where Comcast, Spectrum, and others have applied tight data limits. It is often cheaper to use these (where viable) than to pay the overage rates.
2) Comcast, Spectrum, and others don't block addresses from signing up for new accounts unless there are balances owed. If you can't get a special talking to retentions, cancel your service and have someone else that lives at the address sign up for new service 24 hours later. They will be eligible for all current signup specials.
3) Platforms like Roku have loads of free content available without additional subscriptions. There is a lot of crap, but news, films, and more can be found without much trouble.
4) Streaming content availability varies from device to device. You can get around this by using a Chromecast or similar device to stream from a PC.
5) Libraries in your area may have a selection of DVD/Blu-ray/comics/manga and more available for free. Some even have a selection of video games. They also have (e)books if that is your kind of thing.
6) You can share passwords allowing more than one user to use streaming services.
I hope others can continue to contribute to this thread. Lots of good stuff here.
They aren't supposed to be 3 cents. When they ring up 3 cents, it is a queue for them to pull them off of the shelf. Apparently this store AND its staff didn't get the memo.
yup, still going. Most people just finished up the first year of free service and ported in and out for another free year after waiting 60 days. Details here for anyone interested https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req
I keep seeing stuff like this posted all over reddit (still) and it's just flat out not true anymore. There have been plenty of RX580s posted for right around MSRP recently. A two second search found this one posted less than 12 hours ago for 20 bucks more than MSRP. GPU prices aren't insane anymore and haven't been for a little while now. There are a lot of good deals out there to be had. Not the best deals ever, but certainly better than we were 6 months ago.
There are two people creating these lists:

Terms : > This Coupon is a 15% discount valid from 8:00 AM PT on April 26, 2018 until 1:00 PM PT on April 26, 2018. The code & the page should go live sometime this evening or in the early morning so i'll try to add the details then if i'm up.
You can also keep a eye on the SD thread here and see if someone figures out the link to it so we can see it early.
The usual terms should apply, Max $50 discount, must buy on the app and no buying stuff listed in the Gift Card category or private islands. It also might have a $25 minimum purchase required to use it as well.
> > If SSDs drop any lower in price, will there even be a reason for the average consumer to own a HDD
> A 1TB 960 Evo is nearly $500. You could buy a decent PC for that price.
That's a premium SSD.
Most enthusiasts don't need that, let alone the "average consumer" (that's the phrasing used). A cheaper but equally reliable SSD would be just as good.
Mushkin's infamous 1 TB 2.5" Reactor uses MLC and was only $210 a couple weeks ago. It's typically somewhere between $200 and $250.
Micron's new 2TB 2.5" 1100 uses 3D TLC and was only $270 a couple weeks ago. It's $290 today.
The deals are there. Very few of us need premium SSDs, so why pay premium prices?
Any slickdealers out there? McDonald’s has a great deal right now for $1 premium sandwich if you order through the mobile app. link you can do it once a day until 9/30.
My order? A quarter pounder with bacon and cheese - no ketchup xtra pickles no bun. $1 I then throw it in a low carb tortilla add mayo and reduced sugar ketchup.
Bonus! If you do a mobile order and opt for in store pickup, You can do a second order using a qr coupon code to get a second deal in the same day.. I did this yesterday and stacked above order with a deal for a free double cheeseburger with any purchase and ordered a $1 cheeseburger to get 3 cheeseburgers for $2. Super easy way to help fill my macros for cheap. Add some leafy greens or veggies to complete a meal :)
It was around 2 years ago an airhogs fpv race car. Got the last 2 at my store. Can’t find the actual page anymore but it was referenced in the comments here: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/11026107
Honestly it was a shitty car, absolutely not worth $100
PSA these are actual monitors from a good seller. However these monitors are pulled from internet/cyber cafes and will rot of smoke, you will need to air them out for a day or two.
Green-Sum in the past has done a semi-decent job of cleaning them up but I've seen a few that needed more work and a few that have been flawless so it is hit or miss. That being said for $160 its a good pickup if you want a 1440p monitor for work or basic gaming on. These will not overclock and will frameskip if you try and overclock but if you don't care about more than 60hz these are great units for the price.
EDIT: Reviews from people who bought on on previous iterations of this deal - https://slickdeals.net/f/7044226-achieva-qh270-ipsi-27-s-ips-led-2560x1440-monitor-refurb-fs-ebay-200?page=7#post69116034
Double Edit: If you have a console and are thinking of getting this for it don't do it, I know a few people who have thought that if they hooked up a 1440p monitor to their PS4/Xbone it would output in 1440 and learned a hard lesson that it doesn't work like that.
> I clicked but preferred we were giving the troops something more useful, like Scotch and porn.
/u/brimorga's pretty on point, though.
So I got on to Slickdeals to see if there are any good deals at Walmart. Usually there isn't, but it's fun to see what deals are there, and occasionally there's the unbelievable "local store" only deal.
I came upon this smart speaker, which looked like a nice speaker for only $21. It is a local store deal only, so when you go to the Walmart Website Page, it's not available for sale at all.
But if you go to Brick Seeker, entering the SKU (680449620), as I have, and your ZIP code, you can see which stores have it, and how much they go for, and in this case, there were several in my area.
It is compatible with Google Assistant, but it is not an assistant itself, so you can't talk to it, but it is essentially a Chromecast Audio device. Otherwise, it works fine. It's also Bluetooth compatible and has a battery so you can take it outside and use it even if you're not in Wifi range.
I don't know it's worth $150, especially since it's not a GH Device, per se, but for $21 it's a major win. Do your homework, make sure your armed with the right information, and don't complain if it doesn't scan the price you're expecting. But if all the chips fall into place, it's a great deal and sounds well above the price I paid for it.
If anyone wants to save a couple of bucks, Paypal currently has a deal where you'll get $5 off of any $20 you spend on the eshop. It seems like a YMMV-type ordeal though (it just worked for me, but a lot of people aren't getting it).
If you don't need that much power, the Moto E4 is also a great option, it runs a SD425 with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Right now you can get a Verizon prepaid version from Walmart (or price match in Target) for $40, carrier unlock code is about $2.09. It's great for a backup phone.
The only carriers it won't work for are Sprint and their direct MVNOs, it works great on Verizon postpaid and GSM networks after unlocking.

It's only $200 at Home Depot and it routinely goes on sale for $170. So uh... maybe you over paid.
So you're paying about $150-$170 per month for 2 lines with limited data, on the Sprint network?
If you really are ready to switch, you could be on:
*the Verizon network, for $85 / month total for 2 lines with 7 GB of data each, using the Family Account discount on Verizon Prepaid
the ATT network, for $81 / month total, for 2 lines with 10 GB data each, after multi-line discount, on ATT reseller Pure Talk
the T-Mobile network, for $50 / month total, for 2 lines with 10 GB each, on T-Mobile reseller MintSIM
I think the biggest loss on price protection might be from TVs. Discover even honors black friday prices. What comes to mind was people getting $289 back on this Toshiba TV.

Meh, these types of deals that lock you into high cost carriers such as Verizon shouldn't even really be considered deals.
For example, I took advantage of this for Pixel 2/XL last December. This was all per-line BTW; I did 5:
I bought 5 Pixel 2 XLs, sold 3, and netted ~$275 after all was said and done (Sprint fees for a few months, activation fees, etc.) It did take around 5 hours but I'd say it was somewhat fun and worth it (better than spending the ~$1800 it would have cost for 2 new Pixel 2 XLs.)
This information isn't relevant to the Pixel 3, but I'm hoping that it spreads awareness as to what's possible (be on the lookout for deals like this!)
Vizio P series quantum 65’’ for 1400 through Costco is probably gonna be the best deal you’ll see.
A 2TB drive for under $250 is a pretty damn good start.
Of course we won't see 100% adoption, but I feel like most gamers can relegate their HDDs to storage drive duty and get a big ol' SSD as a boot drive.
Me, I've been 100% SSD since around 2014. My build was a hair over $1000 and I eventually poached an old SSD from my college laptop to be used as a data drive in my gaming desktop. It really hasn't been that hard.
PSA: if you're buying off Rakuten with a CC/debit, please be aware that there seems to be some exploit in their system that lets people steal your CC info. It's been ongoing for 3-4 years, but some redditors report fraudulent charges occurring after making a few purchases recently.
If you want to buy, I highly recommend going through PayPal instead!
You forgot the rest of the info https://slickdeals.net/f/10435676-dell-xps-15-9560-laptop-15-6-1920x1080-i7-7700hq-512gb-pcie-ssd-16gb-ram-gtx-1050-4gb-win-10-1-082-49-after-200-slickdeals-rebate?src=SiteSearch

My 2 biggest hobbies came together this week. Movies and churning. There's a deal right now where you get $10 back in Regal gift cards when you spend $10 on your visa at a Regal theater. It's 1 per person (that they track by registering your Visa), but thanks to churning, I happen to have a lot of visa cards.
I took the family to see Despicable Me 3 this past weekend, used the kiosk, and bought each ticket on a different registered visa. I now have $40 back in gift cards, pretty much completely reimbursed the cost. Doing it again this week at Spider-man with 4 other Visa cards.
I told several people that I know go to the movies about doing the deal, but they all either have 0 or 1 visa cards. Thanks /r/churning!
You can use Excel to handle the formulas. The coupons are for technically online orders but you can always order online and then pick up in the store, the link below also has links to barcode generators that you could put in the coupon code and it will generate a scannable barcode that you can use in store, just use the self-checkout Lane to scan the coupon.
https://slickdeals.net/f/9549456-lowe-s-10-15-50-off-online-coupons-sharing-only-no-off-topic
For a dead end platform, aged batteries and no warranty that's just downright terrible.
You can get a newer M18 set for about the same price.
Saw this comment on Slickdeals:
>FWIW, here's the response I received from a live chat rep on the Fi site:
>me: to be completely transparent, I'm interested in buying an unlocked Moto G6 to use on a different carrier. i'm not interested in activating Fi service at this time. am i able to do that or is that against the terms of the phone purchase/Fi service?
>rep: Gotcha! Thanks for the honesty with that. The Moto G6 does come unlocked with purchased from the Project Fi store. However, since the Moto G6 is on a promo price you will have to activate the device and service for 30 days to keep the discounted price.
But! It seems the Fi website has been edited to remove the bit where it said activation on Fi was required to get the discounted price. So I guess Google decided not to enforce it.
> Limit one transaction up to $300 in Target Gift Cards. Minimum Gift Card purchase of $10. All the Gift Cards purchased at the 10% off discount will not be redeemable until 12/4/17 at 10am Central Time. Offer does not include Target Visa Gift Cards or Target MasterCard Gift Cards.

> This isn't anything special you could get comparable stuff for like ~150 or so less if you're talking about actually buying windows as well. Nothing super interesting especially since its in store, taxed, and MIR.
Feel free to post a PCPP link.
$150 less puts it at a pre-tax price of $516.
You're already at $480. You have $36 left for a case, RAM, and cooler.
1 Year of The Economist for $51: https://slickdeals.net/f/10416732-the-economist-1-per-issue-51-for-one-year-51-issues
It doesn't work for multiple years, but it lets you discount lock when you go to check out (which is effectively the same thing). This is the cheapest they ever have Economist subscriptions for, it extends their intro offer ($1 per issue) for as long as you keep renewing.
It's a 24 hour sale. Just stop buying millennial shit like avocado toast and fidget spinners for a bit.
Note this is for the print version. Check if your public library uses something called Zinio for Libraries which will get you the digital version for free. I'm one of those people who likes having physical copies of what I'm reading.
that's going to get tougher and tougher. pascal (especially at 1080/1070) is mature enough.
You can also get the Google Home by itself at Lowes for $85 (after using a $20 off $100 coupon, see below) after tax if you don't need the Chromecast. Add a $1 item to get it to $100 to use the coupon.
Make your own Lowes coupon codes guide:
Change yyyy to any 4 random numbers from 0001, 0002… to 9999. Use the same 4 yyyy numbers for all 5 codes to make it easier. 4. Click Submit, you'll get 5 codes in the bottom box (the validation process adds the last digit; valid codes are 15 digits in length).
Keep in mind it may take some trial and error to find codes that haven't been used, but ALL will be valid.
To get other coupon types, simply swap out the last 4 digits (master code) for the new master code (and here's the current list from the WIKI)
07/1 Current Master Codes
10% off - 7685
15 off 50 - 7632
20 off 100 - 7687
$10 off $50 7673
Mods, let me know if this kind of content is not okay, I think it’s useful for people here.
Discountmags is having a sale on the Economist, you can get print or Digital for $50 a year. https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/379631
This isn’t an affiliate link or anything (it actually may be for slickdeals itself?). Idk.
There's a promotion going on from Samsung to trade in any of your old smartphones for $200, towards a new S8 or S8+. The smart phone (IOS or Android) needs to be, in working order, no water damage, no cracked screen, and needs to hold a charge.
For the S8, you get a $100 off from Samsung + $200 for trading in your smartphone, which equals $750 - $200 - $100 + tax = about $500.
For the S8+, you need to have a .edu email address, to create a account with UNiDAYS for 20% of the phone. So its $850 - 20% - 100 - 200 + Tax = About $511
If Samsung doesn't accept your phone for the above aforementioned reasons, then you will get a $25 discount and have to pay $175, to make up the difference and won't get back your phone.
Edit: Forgot to put its from their Galaxy S line of phones.
Edit: Price is a bit lower didn't realize its $725 - $100. Also I have fixed the link to take to the page that gets you the $100 off!!

UNiDAYS also has up to $200 off Apple products.
Looks like someone on Slickdeals started their yearly Black Friday post showing stores and their deals on movies so I thought it may come in handy to some of you. Guess he did this last year and will keep the post updated.
You can get a free Yubikey with a 1 year subscription to the online version of Wired Magazine for $5, and you can immediately disable / opt out of the auto renewal.
Sign up for digital delivery only and then opt out of any email they send you.
Don't buy from TV Super Stores. It's a bait and switch. There's no way the E7P TV is at $1199.
Here's the BBB reviews
The cheapest I've seen on Slickdeals is $1399.
Best Buy is going to have an 8TB on sale for $129.99 this week FYI for anyone interested. https://slickdeals.net/f/10756007-best-buy-black-friday-wd-easystore-8tb-external-usb-3-0-hard-drive-black-for-129-99
If you want to get another $100 + free sim activation, go here:
I just did the $325 back for the Pixel 2. I was too late to the party to get this offer :( But I'm happy TMO paid half my phone without contract !!
Not sure if I want to go all out on storage space or go for game + space at this point. Also many people have their eyes on that 750gb drive so I'm a little worried it'll sell out instantly
Dot is smaller but has the same functionality. Doesn't sound as good. I use the Dot as a filler speaker. The 2nd gen Dot is also quieter than the Echo. Echo, i'd set to 5-6 volume and 2nd Gen Dot I would have to set to 9-10 to be the same. $15 is a nice price if you want to get into it. However, the 3rd gen Dot is pretty awesome and I would rather wait for a sale on that. Sounds slightly better in quality but much better in loudness. It's almost the same as the regular Echo. It recently went for $1 shipped with trial music subscription last week. There's a 3-pack sale on it right now for $70. Slickdeals
The non LED one is OoS. But the FTW and SC LED and still there 349.99 and 329.99 respectively.
With the prices of components, some alienware deals are better than you can build your own. This one was tempting the crap out of me yesterday; I had to walk away. Thankfully it's expired now.
Panera has a code right now for $3 off an online order of $6 or more. Use promo code "SC3"
I love their food and it can be reasonable to fit it in your daily calories. One thing to watch for is the sodium content in their food.
I'm sorry you bought something while having no idea what you are buying. User error 110%.
Read this link. Cancel moviepass if you realpy want, but it's a great deal and not that complicated...
Just follow the guide attached to this post so you wont break the clips. And you can just put the drive back in the enclosure to do a warranty claim.
Try /r/datahoarder for doing this on the cheap.
You could just pick up a 12 drive enclosure and build your own 72tb array for less than $100 a tb. They had wd red nas 8tb drives on sale for edus at 200 a pop recently. (Comes on sale a lot) https://slickdeals.net/f/10063456-8tb-or-6tb-western-digital-wd-red-nas-3-5-198-edu-email-req?page=4
To hold the drives you could get a sas 3 enclosure. http://m.ebay.com/itm/AJ940A-HP-STORAGEWORKS-D2600-DISK-ENCLOSURE-Rail-kit-included-/302282873317?nav=SEARCH
You could do 12 8tb in a raid 6 with one hot spare. Then just grab a sas 3 external card. (Card depends on your machines etc). Should put you at 72tb and under 5k.
Just got my 1080...when i arrived they had a 1070 pulled and ready I told them that was not what I ordered. They pulled the order up and validated it said 1080...went to the back and switched out for a 1080. Even the pickup slip says 1070 but my printout says 1080 but with a 1070 model # I got lucky they honored it...either way ymmv

why buy it used from some sticky-fingered neckbeard redditor when you can get it for 75 less after gift card brand new from target?...
OP should adjust your price accordingly.
12 days ago they had team dark 3200/14 for 159, but it only lasted a day. HODL
for reference, it was on frontpage of sd
In 2016, the $499 LCD-2 B-Stock sale occurred the day before Thanksgiving.
Last year, the introduction holiday pricing of $599 for the LCD-2 Classic was early in November, right around this same timeframe.
Who knows what is in store for this year? I have doubts that the LCD-3 will see any major discounts, since the focus seems to be targeting a lower price point for higher volume. My guess would be a repeat of the LCD-2 Classic sale (albeit slightly higher, at maybe $649), or perhaps a remote chance of another "holiday SKU" - but this one is unlikely.
All these items are available on the Adidas.com website for the same price. Just use the code ADIFF at checkout and you'll get 30% off, which is the same price as this website.
EDIT: Ebay also has a $60 Adidas gift card for only $50, and you can use a max of 5 on any Adidas order. I just got a blank jersey for $100.

Is there any good evidence for a relationship between mattress price and quality (of sleep, back health, longevity-of-mattress-construction, etc.)? In response to questions of what it's best not to skimp on*, people often respond that mattress quality doesn't diminish too much marginally with cost until you get to the ~$1k range. Is this actually the case? Personally, I've slept on two 12" queen memory foam mattresses the last ~5y (the first one we had to toss after a badbug infestation), each costing around ~$150 new and shipped, and they've been the comfiest mattresses I've ever slept on. Admittedly I've never consistently slept on $1k+ mattresses, but I have stayed in lots of hotels of varying price and quality, as well as at rich friends'/relatives' places (with fancy, multimillion $ homes and designer this and thats, etc. so I imagine they sprung for a fancy mattress), and also briefly tried the expensive mattresses at dept/furniture stores -- and I still find that I prefer my cheap mattress. Supposedly "a bed with a retail price point of $1,000 probably costs about $250 to make", so are the cheaper online stores just operating under much narrow margins (with fewer e.g. advertising, real estate, storage, labor, etc. expenses)?
This seems like a really straightforward (if expensive) experiment to carry out, so has anyone done it yet?
*incidentally, people also say this about shoes, where I've also found it to not really be the case -- e.g. my dressier chippewa boots are comfier than my much more expensive, equivalently styled red wings, my AE strands are decidedly not comfy to wear for long periods of time, I've had ~$50 hiking shoes completely outperform $200 hiking shoes, etc. But shoes are much more personalized, so I think they're harder to compare.
Did the same thing today after someone linked a good deal on a 1080Ti on here.
I really wanted an all AMD build but I'm not about to wait until mid Q3 to fully use this computer.
$20 is way too much
the entire game + expansion has gone on sale for $20 multiples times, summer sale, black friday, and again now just a few days ago. it's a 5 year old game. thatd be like Borderlands 2 selling a new class for $20 in 2017.

slickdeal post for discussion. Sometimes they think of ways to get it cheaper, as of now someone claims using 10PRIMENOW to get another $10 off if you haven't use it yet. Someone also claims there is a blue yeti cartel artificially keeping prices high on this product haha.

I used Rakuten for the first time last winter and had my CC stolen.
I didn't realize it was from Rakuten until I came across this thread and saw other people that had bad experiences. If you're using PayPal, you're probably a lot safer.
Here's the thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/7f3w9q/meta_rakuten_coupon_20_off_sitewide_up_to_40/
Also here's a long on-going thread on Slickdeals.net about Rakuten and fradulent CC charges https://slickdeals.net/f/6018544-rakuten-buy-com-customers-getting-fraudulent-credit-card-charges
Slickdeals is reporting that it's working for current subscribers, but not the current subscribers who are still on their free trial.
Looks like for people who have already used their 3 month free trial from Apple, this deal is only good for 1 month of free service.
You have one month to redeem this through Apple, so if you're on a free trial that ends in less than a month, or are using another music service that runs out in a month, you can sit on this for a bit to take full advantage of the 4 month period.
Might want to read through the Slickdeals thread and make sure it'll work for you before you try to redeem it.
Though it still has a $30 price tag, there's a good chance that it would ring up for 3 cents at a register.
FYI, the price is low because this is a refurbished one.
There's going to be quite a few going on sale Black Friday as well https://slickdeals.net/blackfriday/stores/best-buy/adscans/43603/ https://slickdeals.net/blackfriday/stores/lenovo/adscans/48523/
I'll update this list with more as I find them.
From the Slickdeals discussion thread:
> Here's a discussion thread [wd.com] on the WD forums that goes deeper into the My Passport vs Easystore analysis. The key takeaways: Easystore is cheaper because
1) It offers no built-in encryption (though you can apparently use third-party software for that purpose) and
2) Recent Easystore models come with a Green drive (which is allegedly a slower Blue drive) instead of the more vaunted Red drive
HDD reliability is a probability, not a binary variable, so buying a more expensive portable external is not a guarantee that it will not fail. The thread linked above talks about how HDDs overall have become more reliable.
I also checked with both Discover IT and Chase Freedom cards, and if you use either of those, you will get an extended 1 year of warranty beyond the manufacturer's 2 years. I'm sure some other cards offer the same.
Based on the above, this is the framework I would recommend:
If you're going to use this primarily for storage, GO FOR IT.
If you're going to use this primarily for speed-dependent purposes (like running applications), THINK TWICE though it still may be a good fit for you <
Be sure to follow the instructions or you might not get the rebate
