Had a read through the Chase earnings call; couple of thoughts, (i) they're very well aware of the churning game imo but they're content to let it play out for the moment (ii) if we take Reddit as a proxy; the biggest subscribed sub is AskReddit with 19.625m, here we've 130k - so that's 0.66% of the population actively engaged in the game. I'd think that number is probably not too far from the truth on a large scale level. Within that I'd imagine a large percentage are still just casuals and that the folks doing multiple business cards + MS are the 1% of the 1%.
So going forward I'd imagine they'll probably move to eradicate the serious gamers (which you're probably seeing with the more prevalent shut downs) whilst keeping an eye on that active engagement, the sooner it ticks towards 1-2% the sooner you'll see rewards nerfed/become more difficult. I happen to believe that'll come sooner rather than later based anecdotally on the increasing engagement of my peers in the game.
TL;DR - a churning recession is on the short to medium term horizon imo

My 2 biggest hobbies came together this week. Movies and churning. There's a deal right now where you get $10 back in Regal gift cards when you spend $10 on your visa at a Regal theater. It's 1 per person (that they track by registering your Visa), but thanks to churning, I happen to have a lot of visa cards.
I took the family to see Despicable Me 3 this past weekend, used the kiosk, and bought each ticket on a different registered visa. I now have $40 back in gift cards, pretty much completely reimbursed the cost. Doing it again this week at Spider-man with 4 other Visa cards.

This is only super-tangentially related to churning, but could be of benefit to those of us who can never get the best Amex incognito offers to show. You can currently get a one-month subscription to the VPN service Private Internet Access via this month's Humble Bundle is just $15.
I've seen others around here mention that going through VPNs such as PIA is a reliable method for getting increased Amex offers to show. I've used PIA in the past for more nefarious purposes (long before I started churning), but I'll be signing up again for this reason. This is using a VPN (or more easily a SOCKS5 proxy) to make your geographic location appear to be different to book cheaper airfare. See this Gizmodo article as an example.
FoxyProxy is a great extension for Firefox and I think Chrome too which lets you easily switch on/off a proxy and have multiple profiles, rules based on URL, etc... You would need to pair this with a free or paid proxy service to connect to. Free can be sketchy, but you can get a paid service like IronSocket for a couple bucks a month and they have a worldwide network of proxy servers. There are thousands of companies that offer these services, some probably very very cheaply.

I read this post on the Frequent Miler blog and was impressed with the system Nick built out with Google Calendar and email to remind himself about upcoming spend deadlines. I started getting into the credit card game in 2018 and didn't realize until now how much of a pain it is to keep track of all the spend deadlines for signup bonuses, statement credits, and other perks associated with CCs. Finally built out a template to keep track of all my cards and rewards in this Coda template. Would love people's feedback if this is how you think about tracking your rewards (e.g. emailing yourself reminders). Disclosure: I work at Coda.
Also, if you have an android phone, download Google Opinion Rewards app. I get random surveys every other day based on stores I visited or hobbies, each one takes like 3 questions or less. Gives a minimum $0.10, but usually $0.20-0.50. Then, use this play store credit to pay for Lastpass subscription $12/yr from inside the Lastpass android app.
Just a note, answer all surveys as accurately as possible. In other words, don't lie under the pretext that you might get more surveys. It has ways of detecting false answers. Few surveys are better than none at all.

To maximize your discounts from Lowe's, there are a few things you can do.
Whatever card you use for the purchases, look into the Price Protection benefits that give you cash back if you find the same item cheaper within 60-90 days. You'll want to check back periodically on Lowe's, Home Depot, google.com/shopping, etc. and take screenshots of the lower prices to make a Price Protection claim.
You can find Lowe's 10&#37; coupon codes on SlickDeals, and find out how to generate your own. There are also $10 off $50 and $20 off $100 coupon codes, and if you have enough small purchases it may be worth it to split up the orders and use coupons as necessary to get better than 10% discounts. Placing an online order and picking up later that day or the next day can be a hassle sometimes, but can be well worth the savings.
Use a Shopping Portal for all online purchases for more free cash back. I use Cashback Monitor for this purpose for all of my online shopping.
All of that can be coupled with using the purchases to meet Minimum Spend Requirements on a new credit card to get the bonus.
Don't get me wrong, the Lowe's card is useful for that 5% back for when you run into the store last minute to make a purchase, but if you have the time to plan out your purchases, then the Lowe's card should be your last option.

I currently carry 4 cards, an ID, and a little bit of cash. cheap, small, but pulling cards out gracefully takes a little getting used to. the other downside is that you need to fold your cash, but the R1 Slim is freaking small. been carrying this for a little over 6 months and I love it.

I've worked in network security products and have some background in the space. We all just laughed at Lifelock. Here's a Consumer Reports article that describes some of the problems.
To protect yourself, first and foremost use a password manager for all of your logins, create strong passwords, and never reuse them. Often, the user (that would be you) is the weak point.
Second, watch out for things like credit card skimmers. This is particularly true at gas stations, as they're not usually using chip and PIN or EMV readers yet. I'm in the habit of giving any gas station card reader a good firm yank before putting my card in to see if it's a skimmer fit over the real card reader. Sadly, the scammers are getting sophisticated enough that this doesn't work all that reliably.
Third, if you can use the chip rather than a swipe, use the chip. Yes, the readers are slow and crappy. But you really do get a significant step up in security. Apple pay is better, and often is a better experience, but not everybody has an iPhone and not every place takes it. Samsung pay is also quite good if you have one of their phones.
Fourth, monitor your accounts. I find mint is good for this, as I can see weird transactions. I log in most days, check that my spending is classified correctly, and look for anything strange. It's 3-4 minutes tops and is a useful early warning system.
Ultimately, you're probably gonna get got sooner or later. That's not really a churning thing, so much as the state of the industry. Do the above three things and you can limit the odds and limit the damage. The other best practice that's out there - freezing your credit reports - is unfortunately not a good option for churners.

Looks like you can double dip on some rewards which could be interesting. I like the idea that you can switch cards up to 14 days in case you make a mistake.
I contacted Mint to see if they have an approximate timeline as to when REDcard will be working on their site, they said they don't, I asked how would I know when it's working, whether they would make an announcement (since I reported this from their ticket support system) and they said no, they won't notify people, but I can keep checking.
Horrible answer to give for a product that they have lunched/listed as Beta on their website and so far it works....not at all! I guess "beta" for Mint means null. In any case, it would be great when/if it works, it will make keeping track of my 3 Redbirds easy.
P.S. I'm not sure if it would make a difference if other people keep asking Mint for this, but if you think it might help, enter your REDcard info on Mint then contact them via their support url by clicking on "Contact Mint".
If Mint delays this, I wouldn't be too surprised if their competition looks into this also to beat them to the punch.
The best deals die before they hit the front page. I usually keep an eye on the Popular Deals and Trending Deals boxes on the front page. It helps filter out the junk, but sometimes by the time a deal reaches these areas you're too late.
Browsing the Hot Deals forum takes more attention but is a better way to find the good deals before they die as others have said.

I've been there man. I used to have a super complicated excel sheet to track my loyalty programs and credit cards in one place and it even used several macros to automate everything. It was a pain to maintain though so I built an Android app to replace it. It has simplified things considerably, and I now get mobile alerts to notify me of upcoming annual fees and miles/points expiration. If you have an Android, you might find some value in it too. I've had that problem too. Google's automated flight notifications are hit or miss. I use Google Trips so I can modify things or add things they missed.

Got back on Tuesday from a short trip to Belize (Avios, Club Carlson for the Radisson in Belize City, and Airbnb certificate from MR points). If you ever have the opportunity to do it, the ATM cave tour is an incredible experience. Others have said that it's the closest thing you'll ever get to feeling like Indiana Jones, and I quite agree. It's physically very intense, though---I got several scratches and bruises.

For Portland, I'd consider Delta and maybe United, Delta has hubs nearby in Seattle and Salt Lake City, United has hubs in San Francisco and Denver. What I'd do is just look at flights between Portland and those Hubs and see who has the best schedules/most frequencies. This will generally tell you how easy it is to connect there to where ever you'd ultimately be traveling. Also, if you fly somewhere frequently, see who has the best schedules between Portland and your destination. Also check Southwest, it looks like they have a decent presence at PDX.
Where I live (Greenville, SC), we have nearby hubs in Atlanta (Delta/Southwest) and Charlotte (American). Delta and American both have frequent flights to Atlanta and Charlotte, respectively. United never seems to have great options for the flights that I look at, and Southwest doesn't offer flights between Greenville and Salt Lake City, which is a place I frequently fly to, and they only have a few flights a day, all to Atlanta. Alaska and Jet Blue are virtually nonexistent here. So I tend to lean towards loyalty programs for Delta and American.
As others have said, Wikipedia is a good resource to figure out where airlines fly to out of one specific airport, and check schedules on Google Flights to those cities.
Expiration date was the first thing I checked, since I thought I remembered they did. But nope, no expiration (look at bottom of page here).

I've been using Keepass for years now to keep unique passwords for all my accounts. I've recently starting keeping CC numbers and other details in there as it's easier to reference everything in one location rather than look through drawers for cards that aren't used on a regular basis. Has anyone used any of the plugins available for Keepass to make adding notes and CC numbers easier?
