And if you don't mind a little work for money I've had quite a bit of success with MicroWork sites. These are basically sites where you do some repetitive, cheaply paid work, the purpose of which is mostly to train AI. I've mainly used HiveMicro. I gave it about an hour a day, and in a month I had about $30 total. It's not much, but as extra income, why not.

Opinion rewards is a good app but it takes forever to accumulate enough surveys to actually redeem anything. I use Swagbucks and have earned enough for $70 in iTunes credit in about 3 months ($5-25 cards each time)
Once you figure out how to answer surveys so you don’t come off as over or under qualified you can get a lot of credit quickly. Tip: when they ask “do you or your family work in any of the following industries” be sure to say NO! That question is usually used to disqualify you
Have you tried scrolling through the subreddit and reading the suggestions posted by others?! I think that you'll find them very helpful. I don't think that most of us like doling out advice repeatedly to every new person that comes along and asks how to earn Swagbucks. Also, if you haven't, be sure to check out the information in the sidebar.
In the meantime, go to the Ncraves page and get those running in the background. I like to autorun the ones for 2SB. You just have to do a captcha occasionally. Also, if you have an Android phone, download the Swagbucks apps. They generally run passively.

There should be a tile with a guy using a laptop and the title is "take a discovery break". Usually they have you watch a 30second to 1 minute commercial and it pays 2sb. And it counts as a discover offer, not watch.

Realistically tho, they’re not going to give you any way to earn CP for free so long as buying the battle pass once allows you to go infinite. If they did decide to do some sort of free CP distribution it would be barely anything at all and they’d immediately stop handing out any in the paid battle pass like they do currently.
I’m much happier with a one time purchase allowing me to go infinite than I would be getting 1-5 CP here and there. Probably the easiest is to just do a few surveys on Qmee. They offer free instant cashout at any amount. The surveys are hit or miss though, so if there is nothing worth doing for the time it is estimated to take then give it a few minutes and it will refresh with new surveys throughout the day. Don't waste your time doing a survey that is super underpaid for the time.
If Survey's aren't your thing then Swagbucks might be a better option. They offer surveys like other sites but they also have a bunch of one time offers where all you have to do is sign up for a trial and you get paid. The best though is they have Mobile game offers where you literally just get paid to download and play a game on your phone and reach a certain level. They pay anywhere from a few bucks to up to $48 right now. Some of them can be done in no time while others are the time-gated games so might take up to a week or so to get to the required level. There are tons of online guides for all the games as well which make it easy to min-max your way to the reward.

The submission process has changed. If you are doing it through the website on desktop, you would save your pic to the computer, add the offer to your "offer list" on the in-store promotions website, and upload the receipt there as well.

The main surveys always seem to be better than the ones on offerwalls, though they likely all come from the same pool of available surveys.
ALWAYS answer truthfully, even if it is something the survey setter likely doesn't anticipate / want to hear. If people all blow smoke up the asses of companies running these surveys then the products, advertising, and customer support will never improve. I tend to point out errors / omissions / general problems with the subject matter of the survey (or the survey itself) when I can - some surveys do not permit a final general comment at the end.
Fill out the Your Survey Questions section (to the right of the screen on the above link) to provide more information about yourself, and go to Peanut Labs to do the same on their profile of you.
This is a slightly counter-intuitive hint, but it's from experience - if surveys dry up for any reason, sign up to other sites (I am currently using eight different sites, though my time is mostly spent between Swagbucks and Prolific) as there are ALWAYS new surveys available somewhere. When I signed up with other sites my available surveys on Swagbucks seemed to increase. YMMV

I did the Morning Brew subscription earlier this month, and if I recall correctly, it showed as pending in my Shop Activity within a few hours.
When you're doing an offer that will credit to your Shop Activity, you want to make sure you have no ad-blocking extensions enabled. It's also a good idea to check the Visited Stores tab on that page to see that the click-through registered.
Submit a support ticket (with screenshots) if they don't show as pending within a few days.
There are a few other mobile apps, plus there's hideout.tv where you can watch videos and earn Swagbucks. I know there are even more ways to earn sb if you are in the US, maybe someone there can help you find those.
If you live in a state with a bottle deposit bill, there's some money to be made recycling drink bottles. I generally go digging bottles out of trash cans every day after work.
Other than that, most of my additional income come from Swagbucks. (Ref, non-ref.) Since you mentioned surveys don't seem to be your thing, you might want to look into other alternatives on /r/beermoney or /r/workonline.

Basically they focus on ways to earn small bits of money in your spare time. Filling out surveys, participating in testing products, reward apps, thinks like that. Like Swagbucks for example. Maybe worth a look.
Prolific is the best one I've used. Pay is good and the studies are normally quite interesting. Just Google Prolific and it'll pop up. I believe you need ID on sign up now.
YouGov is also good. Lots of short surveys about relevant topics. The only downside is that you can only cash out at £50 which can take a while! Ref link here.
Swagbucks is pretty average for surveys but I've made a lot of money on there recently doing the games offers. Ref link here and we'd both get 300SB if you earn 300SB in your first 30 days.
There are better paying sites but in terms of convenience and breadth of money earning opportunities it's hard to beat. Check r/swagbucks and r/GPTGameGuides for tips on completing mobile offers. Bear in mind gg2u etc will give you better returns on your time but for getting a return on casual mobile gaming/cashback on purchases/signups for pay it's a great place to start. There's a dripfeed of SB (us cents) via various minigames and promotions that really adds up over time. The surveys are not really worth doing due to the rate of screen outs, very frustrating. Just use them as needed to reach paypal voucher cashout thresholds.

Sell aluminum cans, sell scrap metal for extra money. See if you qualify for food stamps (you should be able to, given the fact that you're a single income and have a child).
Sell anything that you no longer use on sites like Ebay/Etsy/Facebook Markets and so on.

Sometimes a notification will pop up to tell you a survey is available, but they always say they have enough participants when I click on it. Sometimes an SB code can ONLY be put in the SwagButton (for example for some Swago boards. Once you add it to your browser, you can turn it on and off under extensions.

Most of the time if you search the subject then you can find the offer. However, it looks like they changed the offer again making it even worse.

Check your credit card account to see if you were actually charged. Then go to your activity ledger and search by the OTHER category to see if it's there.

Usually you get 20% off one $25+ GC per month. Others will often go on sale for ~5-10% off in unlimited quantities. It was something really small & stupid.
I had discovered for the first time that RevU's SB Wall has an Offer Status page. I noticed there were some that said I'd Clicked, but they hadn't Credited. I wondered if those were ones I'd decided against after clicking or if they just didn't credit properly. So I kept my eye out for the next couple of days, and a very small number of the ones I'd completed didn't credit.
Screenshots! I'll just use their Contact Support link next to them & send them screenshots & explain what happened. Yeah, that'll work! So I did that. I got credit for some, others were denied, and I was insta-banned (although they didn't notify me in any way or provide any explanation).
SB was no help, they just kept giving me a canned response of "contact them directly," which I kept telling them I couldn't do because RevU had IP Blocked me on SB.
Eventually, I found an email address for RevU (if only that dopey "Amber" from SB Customer Support had given me that in the first place, but whatever) and I asked them about it. They said I'd mixed up some of the screenshots with their different offers and that constitutes fraud per rules number blah blah blah, and that I'm banned and will continue to be banned.
That last part really cracked me up, even though I was still mildly pissed. I said "Really, this is why you ban me? With no chance to rectify it on my part?"
No reply, so I guess the answer is yes because I'm still banned.
