I’m pretty sure you can just buy a light bulb mount for your home mini, it screws in to an empty socket to provide power. Probably something like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C687FP9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_0WVWDb8K6AZ9F
Pussy Cat is a game that some has had published that is, "A nice app made to tell you about your goods and bads." You can find out more in the Explore option in the Google Home app.
Here's a link to the one I bought, I like it so much I bought one for my mom. Ninety7 Battery Base for Google Home Audio/Video Product Carbon/Black (Loft Carbon) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076H81YZ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BFSaDbZVFP3D5
I achieved this by doing the following:
With the route to Google’s DNS servers blocked, the hub has no choice but to use your local DNS. From there, weather.com goes to your server and runs whatever you feed it.
After setting everything up and a quick reboot of my router and home hub, everything works great! Except I have no way of controlling the game, and the frame rate is horrible. Of course, that’s not why we do these things. We do these things because we can!
After the Home app update, I thought it'd be nice to be able to control the devices on the computer.
Sicne there is no Home app for Windows or web (there should be!), I had to try this.
Setup:
CPU consumption (AMD A8-5600K): 3-5%
RAM consumption: 80MB

Note: sluggishness on the video due to screen recording. It actually works fast on a medium specs computer.
Best one IMO is from Amazon:
Plugs directly into outlet
NO cord unlike ones on Etsy
Discreet
Great for Bathrooms, Kitchens, Tight Spaces (hehe, not there!)
And for a limited time only, you get to pay full retail of $14.99! Hurry while supplies last! Seriously though, it's the best bet right now. Most people hate cords (as do I) thus this is the best option at a great price.
Our mini is in the kitchen, and by far the thing we use the most is adding a task to Wunderlist. I used this IFTTT applet.
We have it set so we just say "Hey Google, we need carrots" and it gets added to our shared grocery list.
redeem here if you already have spotify
you'll receive an email
there's a link in the email to take you to the google store
choose your color and check out
the full price will be deducted
you will still need a credit card
heh, I just replaced the old "lighter" style accessory power receptacle with one of these. It works pretty well. I had a lighter style quick charger but the cord was getting wonky and the end just fell apart. I came across this receptacle while looking for a replacement. I can't think of anything other than a USB charger that I've ever plugged into that accessory socket so to me it just made sense to eliminate one point of failure. Now I get the QuickCharge 3 and I can put any USB A -> whatever cable I need in there.
Hey all, Im super happy to launch The Fly’s Eye Mini Mount. Its based off our Echo Dot Built in mount which has been very well received for easy installation. I only launch my stuff on Reddit so here we go. Thanks for all of the great support for the Mini Back Pack and Mini USB cover Plate. I am doing the special for 24 hours on this one rather than just the first 100 since I have more on hand.
Here is the link for the demo: https://youtu.be/b4SOG4Ay_04
You can also order on our website which does international: www.mountgenie.com
Please let me know if you have any questions! Charlie!
While that would be great, it isn't really what Google Home is supposed to be doing. It's mainly there to use other services, not provide services on it's own. Or in other words; MFP would be the one to support this, not Google Home. Iirc MFP isn't working with basically anything in that direction, not even via IFTTT.
There are several services you can use via IFTTT to log weight and such tho, MFP just isn't supporting it yet.

Just another of the thousands of 3rd party actions (similar to Alexa skills) the Home can do. Strangely these features get no advertising from Google and so are mostly unknown unless you activate one br accident. https://assistant.google.com/services
It wasn't easy!
So for my home automation stuff i'm using a platform called Home Assistant running on a Raspberry PI using a z-wave USB stick for most of it.
So I used IFTTT to trigger a group in that platform to turn on or off and it takes care of the rest.
In Home Assistant (AKA HASS) i'm using a feature where you can code a switch as a series of command-line commands to run the music and tv. It calls out to a command-line javascript program called castnow which lets me cast local (or youtube) media to the TV or the google home itself as audio-only.
Then from there it was just a matter of hooking the youtube video stream up to castnow to send it to the TV, and doing something similar for the music.
But for the music I wanted a bit of variation, so I bought an album that my wife likes (Andy Williams Christmas Album), ripped it to MP3s, and put them in a folder on the pi. Then I wrote a VERY shitty bash one-liner to shuffle their order and play them randomly as a playlist to the google home.
Using the linux program screen
I can have the "command line switch" in HASS play the video in a screen, then kill it when I want it to switch off.
Here's the config for the andy williams switch:
shuffle_andy_williams_christmas: command_on: > screen -S christmasmusic -d -m -L bash -c "/root/.nvm/versions/node/v7.2.0/bin/node /root/castnow/index.js $(ls -d -1 /root/videos/andy_williams_christmas/** | shuf | sed 's/\s/\&/g' | tr '\n' ' ') --address 192.168.1.152 --localfile-port 5100 --quiet"
command_off: 'screen -S christmasmusic -p 0 -X stuff "sq"' command_state: 'screen -ls | grep "christmasmusic" | wc -l' value_template: '{{ value == "1" }}'

I ended up buying a 2 inch lazy susan from Amazon (link below). You have to buy a four pack but still very nice. I attached it to the counter and the home hub with poster putty. Shout out to u/UnweavingTheRainbow for finding it on Amazon.
I have two of these and they work perfectly. You can still use the other outlet with them.

Got the same, but... March 1 is meteorological spring.
The spring season associated with the vernal equinox, called astronomical spring, happens on or around March 20 in the Northern Hemisphere, but meteorologists recognize March 1 as the first day of meteorological spring, which is based on annual temperature cycles and the Gregorian calendar.

You can get one of these for under a hundred. Drapery Motor I've used one before years ago, and it worked fairly well. Basically you loop the blind cord around the gear, manually set the fully opened and closed positions, then plug it in. Whenever power is applied, the motor direction reverses, and the blinds move until it hits the opened or closed position. So just plug this into a Google controlled smart plug to get it automated.
It is a combination of 2 elements:
1, Using IFTTT to script an applet using webhooks. https://ifttt.com
2, The webhook should point to grapeot.me https://grapeot.me/adding-a-delay-to-ifttt-recipes.html
I have been using this method for months, and it works well.
I'm not sure about the Zero, but home assistant is pretty popular.
I haven't followed them closely, but I knot Google Home integration is a high priority for them.
You can do that already actually via the Chromecast API. I'm using the Home-Assistant tts component to send audio to my Google Home whenever the front door opens or closes.

I don't think he was looking for parenting advice, he has a care plan in place and wanted recommendations on how to use Google to help! There are plenty of reasons (medically, personal preference, to beat 'the blur') to record when your baby eats, sleeps, and poops.
We used Feed Baby and it worked very well for us.
It doesn't have google home integration, but idk if you want to be talking to your home at 4am when your baby is refusing to fall asleep!
I use the tones from the Hangouts app dialer, hold phone near GH microphone and turn phone volume up and use dial pad.
You can also find apps that play the DTMF tones on app stores.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bytestemplar.tonedef
https://home-assistant.io/ will allow you to do this through your google home.
You can even trigger it using IFTTT allowing you to use one google home to talk to another, unfortunately I am not sure it allows open channel communication I think it will just say what you tell it to say.
On my back deck I use one of these and take it in and out. I wanted to mount it and leave it outside, but it poses too much of a security risk.

Can't speak to best. But as a broke home automation enthusiast, I can attest that getting SWITCHES instead of lights is way cheaper, especially in the long run.
Bulb burned out? No problem. Stick dollar store bulbs in em. I got 6 lights on my main floor which work on 2 switches.
Currently using WeMo switches. Sometimes they go on sale for under $30.
I use a simple IFTTT applet to create new task cards in Trello. When I was trying to figure out how to do this, most suggestions were for multi-step processes whereby emails are sent by gmail to trello. This is a one step easy process: https://ifttt.com/applets/L3Whbwie-tell-google-assistant-to-create-new-task-card-on-trello
Is this a good deal? It doesn't seem like it.
2x for 220 + tax - 50 dollars ~= $191.45 Or $95.72 for one.
There's a kohls deal that's selling for $79 + tax and you get 15 dollars in kohls cash.
Am I missing something?
Using Home Assistant. https://home-assistant.io/ /r/homeassistant
It basically lets all your things talk/trigger/interact with all your things. A list of those things: https://home-assistant.io/components/
As far as google chromecasts go, the default install right after setup will discover your devices (as well as a few other media player devices like Roku, etc). You can then easily send text to them which google will speak on the fly. In addition, I set up automated notifications (when people are home, not home, time of day, doors opening) which get sent to chromecast audios and the GH's for whole house announcements.
Home Assistant itself can run from simple to challenging...it depends on what you intend to do with it.
Its a 3rd party action. They are sadly not well promoted by Google. For instructions just say "talk to mister home'.
You can find a list in actions here https://assistant.google.com/explore/
Small things tend not to be announced, but are happening daily. Larger things are usually announced through the assistant newsletter (which you can sign up for here) or through blog.google/products/assistant/. Sometimes new features are also highlighted by live cards in the google home app.
Short term solution: Change your settings back to GPM until they roll out the ability to play uploaded library (not holding my breath).
Long term solution: Setup Plex with Phlex or Home Assistant. Also buy a MyCroft since Google is now evil.
https://github.com/maykar/plex_assistant
Easiest solution: Buy an Echo.
Definitely. I'd say it's easier running it outside your network since you don't have to deal with changing IP address (the one assigned to your home network by your ISP).
All the communication happens via IFTTT, so the application doesn't directly communicate with your local devices. So, it doesn't matter whether the server is running on the same network or not.
Just to give you a better idea of how it works under the hood, here's an example: When you ask Google Assistant to "turn off a device after 5 minutes", it will send that command to IFTTT, which in turn makes an HTTP request to your server with the device name and parameter "5 minutes". The server turns on the device and waits for the specified amount of time. Once the time has elapsed, the server will make a web request to IFTTT which will tell Google Assistant to turn off the device. As you can see, there is no "local" communication between the server and your devices.
Basically, IFTTT is the glue connecting the server to Google Assistant. Hope that makes sense.
You can use https://ifttt.com for some extra stuff and customize the response you get when calling those actions. Works well with routines.
I use that and Home Assistant to do more complicated home automation things.
I agree with your frustrations (although I have different ones), and the Amazon products are pretty much useless for general search enquiries. I found a reliable to add products to a shopping list via GH. Start one on Todoist (the basic app is free). Then use the IFTTT recipe here "https://ifttt.com/applets/JYa3uLDe-google-home-shopping-list-via-todoist". It works. You can even use a Todoist widget to display your shopping list on your phone's home screen if you want to. Obviously it's a workaround, but heaven knows when Google will provide a shopping list widget of their own, if ever.
Audio Systems Engineer, Living Room http://www.indeed.com/viewjob?from=appshareios&jk=cfae8d8ba5658aa8
Prediction: GH will significantly improve its sound on next version while maintaining cost and improving features leaving the marshmallow no advantage at launch. Check out new indeed posting for audio eng.
$100 is average, $90 is a good deal and $80 is a once in a blue moon deal. If you also have Visa Checkout or other Credit card promos, I've seen people get it down to $70'ish. This Rakuten deal is still active, for $90 https://slickdeals.net/f/10638144-live-google-home-89-99-free-shipping?src=SiteSearchV2_SearchBarV2Algo1
Nope. Ring is owned by Amazon and they have no useful compatibility with Google Home as a result. Here is a list of the utterly useless things you can do with Ring and Google Home. https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000e4ac17fd8b?e=-WebDirectoryEmbeddedWebviewExperiment&jsmode=o
"tell me about my day" in the morning is pretty nice. weather, travel time to work, calendar for the day, and then some news. All of that is customizable if you don't want it all. I also find it handy for asking questions about movies/tv shows/actors while watching tv.
I do have Home Assistant running along with emulated hue on a Rpi3. This lets me expose my firetv stick to the google home. So I can just say "hey google, turn on firetv". This will turn the firetv on, and through hdmi-cec, my tv as well. Pretty nifty since it takes a bit for the tv to boot up and soundbar to turn on and be ready to watch. I can also expose scripts to the GH to launch a particular app by voice and play/pause etc. i haven't set those up yet though.
This can be easily done with Home Assistant. Just need the media player component and then write some time triggered automations for 2am to set the volume. I give you some pointers if you're interested. You'll need a computer that is always on or better yet, a Raspberry Pi.
Try and see if the 4 month works for you. I tried it on a family members new GH after the 6 month promo ended and worked. Better than nothing.
4-Month Trial of Google Play Music & YouTube Red
No bribes required. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.accessibility.maui.actionblocks
It's essentially a Google voice command in a button. At least that's what I use it for.
I use this.
It's not exactly what you're hoping for but there are ways, depending on what home devices and services you use, to make a good unified widget. KWGT combined with IFTTT and/or Tasker let me get a lot of home control onto my homescreen. In fact, I'd find smart home control too frustrating to be useful without it.
Google Home only accesses your primary calendar. Adding your Outlook calendar doesn't actually synch it, it just creates a view for it. That calendar would not be your primary calendar, therefore, you wouldn't have access to it from Google Home.
I have read a post or two of people who have used third party applications to physically import mail from an external calendar to your primary one.
Another option, that I haven't tested, you could try this IFTTT recipe that copies an even from one calendar to another. Any time an event is added to your work calendar, it'll copy it into your primary calendar.
If you want to use Google Home to find the phone you can do that with IFTTT, there is a applet for it,
Tell Google Assistant to call your phone https://ifttt.com/applets/479253phttps://ifttt.com/applets/479253p
Apart from that as google home already got the calling feature you can just say call “name of the person phone lost” and it will call that number.
With all this solution, my personal experience says that it might be lot of people problem here that they misplaced their phone here and there the best thing it worked till now is find my phone service from iPhone. As all above solution is useless if phone is in silent mode and believe me it is in most cases. When you trigger find my phone it also beeps even if it is in silent mode. Happy finding...
If the Andriod phone in question is linked to the same Google account as your phone, then you don't need Join/Tasker, you can do it directly via IFTTT.
As far as Join/Tasker, I would highly recomend paying for it. The developers don't ask for a lot of money and they are both wonderful products.
I could not disagree more. Guess it depends on what you want to use it for. My experience.
I purchased an Echo on launch a couple of years ago and we purchased our Google Home (GH) about 2 weeks ago. The biggest difference is understanding and doing what you want.
So I have a terrible memory for song, artist, etc. At times with the Echo I would have to do a quick Google search on my phone using a lyric or similar to get song name so I could tell the Echo.
The plan is to put the Echo in the kitchen for ordering and then give each of my kids a Google Home for their room. Love encouraging curiosity about the world.
The Google Home is the ultimate device to do this. Want to know how to say dog in French? What type of money is used in Haiti? You name it. This, IMO, is the big negative of the Echo. Great for ordering and music if you know the song name but I want more.
BTW, it is easy to do the grocery list all at one time and have all of it put in a Google Sheet that is shared.
Here just use this
https://ifttt.com/google_assistant/recipes
I use one to track that my elderly parent has taken their medicine. Then share the sheet with my siblings.
Where are you seeing that you have to cancel and re-enroll? From the Spotify press release (at the bottom):
> * New and existing Premium for Family plan master account holders can sign up for a Google Home Mini at https://www.spotify.com/us/family/ starting on 11/1. Note, this is a limited offer, only available for U.S. Spotify Premium for Family users till December 31, 2018—so don’t wait.
"and existing" strongly implies that you don't — so what are you seeing that says you do?
Here's how I did something similar using Home Assistant: https://home-assistant.io/
Tell Google Home to play the desired playlist. (I use a shortcut for this, to "OK Google, it's sexytime")
Home Assistant detects the first song in the playlist playing on the Google Home, and then activates the scene based on that.
If you're buying a home and looking to get set up with automation, I would suggest you look into a home automation hub. I like HomeAssistant, which is roll your own and can live on a Raspberry Pi, but SmartThings is good as well.
It's worth thinking about the thing holistically. For example, you can get smart plugs for lamps for about $25 each, or you can get wireless bulbs for your lamps that will cost you about $15 each and can dim or can be linked together to dim or light up a whole room simultaneously; spend another $20 or so and you get full RGB.
I'll skip my whole spiel because the homeassistant website sells it better, but here's what got me into using a hub.
For a lightbulb, the easiest control mechanism is almost always going to be a physical switch. Yes, you can't do it from bed, but it's a lot quicker than voice control. However, if your lightbulbs can automatically come on when it starts to get dark, or dim when you start casting something, that's when things start to get easier. If you can tell your GH 'I'm going to work' and have it turn off the lights/TV, enable away mode on your thermostat, turn on your robot vacuum, and send you a notification if five minutes later if you didn't lock your front door, that makes things start to be a lot easier.
"me about satan" is a custom Google assistant "app" somebody built: https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/0000004be6e703e1?hl=en
Asking it "Where am I?" apparently triggers the Google assistant's recommended app suggestion for it.
It doesn't appear malicious, just a funny name for the app to get GA to say, "I think you might like talking to 'me about satan'"
You can talk to air quality index, it should be able to give you the proper info:
https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/000000dc5a4e9676?hl=en-US

okok, thank you. I was confused and thought that Home Assistant was Google Assistant. I just realized that Home Assistant is something separate:
We've got a very similar setup to what you're describing for music on our patio. I power a Chromecast audio off one of those big travel battery packs, and use an Anker self-powered portable speaker with an aux port with the Chromecast physically plugged into it. It's been working great for us for 3 years now!
People give Hue shit for being so expensive but it also has the most compatibility with other ecosystems and widest range of accessories. Personally, I love the Lutron Aurora Dimmer for my Hue bulbs. It easily installs over a standard US light switch and makes for a great dimmer. Battery lasts a long time too.

Action Blocks! Relatively new app for turning Google Assistant commands and routines into widgets on your phone's home screen (Android only FYI). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.accessibility.maui.actionblocks
Also, something else to note... this won't work on Chrome OS (Chromebooks, etc), and also doesn't work on any of the Google/Nest hub devices with a screen... so don't waste your time trying. Works great on your phone and Android tablets though.
Well, Apple does support Apple Music on Android.
If Apple is going to support Apple Music on Alexa (despite competing against the Homepod), and they already support Apple Music on Android and Windows (despite competing against iOS and MacOS), why wouldn't they also support Apple Music on the Google Home? Clearly their goals with Apple Music are to get subscriptions, not to lock people into the Apple Ecosystem as they do with most of their services.
Try using the baby stats app, https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/0000003cad819089
You can use Google Assistant to add a wet or poopy diaper (among other things) and it will keep all the stats for you. It's not the prettiest app but it is functional.
My wife and I tried it and it was alright, but we ended up using the (not Google Assistant compatible, just Android/iPhone) app called feed baby, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.penguinapps.android.babyfeeding.client.android Which is a fantastic app and very helpful to any parents of a newborn and up. If only it had the Google Assistant integration, it would be perfect and complete.
I believe you need cast receiver 1.2+ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.mediashell
The box will then be checked.. but I can't get anything to be voice controlled by it.
Todoist plus IFTTT. Once set up you just have to ask Google to add XXX to your shopping list and it will reply "added xxx to your shopping list via Todoist". There's also a Todoist widget that you can add to Android phone screens. The IFTTT applet is here: https://ifttt.com/applets/JYa3uLDe-google-home-shopping-list-via-todoist
I set up the first one with an IFTTT. Also set up one through the service that'll call my phone. Very easy to use and highly recommend.
So it might be "possible" but its going to be a work around at this point and you would have to test it out to make sure it works correctly.
Again no clue if this will fully work but in theory it will publish the information to ToDoist and you can ask ToDoist for information....
Another work around is getting texted the information or having a smart light that can change color. Example you can see there is an ability to change the color of a Flux light based on the pollen level which could warn you of medium or high levels of pollen.
well from a rough look you need to get the media player of your choice setup and working with HASS, in this instance that would be spotify which u/g0wfv linked to. Then you need to get hass also hooked up with your echo and/or new GH mini. Once they are talking to HASS you need to look at automations
I would do something like:
trigger - time is 6am
condition - weekday
action - media_player.play_media (with the correct entity and media content type and id)
the entity to play on is either the echo or GH Mini. The media content type and id are described in the last paragraph of the spotify docs. It may be worth trying to use the control panel in the front end to test this before pulling your hair out over the automation not working.
Not terribly difficult, and as /u/stephenmg1284 pointed out, the community is great at providing support. Here's a starting point for creating a Chromecast radio: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/chromecast-radio-with-station-and-player-selection/12732/52
From there you just need to look into time-based automations: https://home-assistant.io/docs/automation/trigger/#time-trigger
Not to mention, Google Tasks (as a feature of Gmail) has been around forever, on the web. It's still there: https://mail.google.com/tasks/canvas
It's ridiculous that it took this long for Google to release an app for this basic functionality, as a standalone app for Android and iOS. We literally had to use a 3rd party app to sync with Gmail's Task list, WTF? That it took this long, and the app finally comes out, and it's no different from a To Do list app that might have come out in 2008, is kind of absurd.
At the very LEAST I would have expected Google to step things up a notch, and perhaps TRY to catch up, and make the to do list work with Google Home, the way a to do list has worked on Amazon Echos for three years now!
I have this TPLink bulb and it works pretty well. No hub or bridge required so it's cheap. TP-Link Smart LED Light Bulb, Wi-Fi, Dimmable White, 50W Equivalent, Works with Amazon Alexa, 1-Pack (LB100) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HXM8XF6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YdxpzbJG4HPGQ
just bought this outlet shelf and should be arriving tomorrow for my Home Mini.
I know it's not quite on the outlet, buy sits just right above it on its own shelf. Bought this one as some of the others on Amazon seemed flimsy and could break from heavier items. Can post pictures when I get it in and put up.
I have bought a couple products from this seller on amazon. From google home mini mounts to google WiFi mounts. They are all great quality and always just work great. My wife is so happy that the power cord is off of the kitchen counter. Looks very clean imo.
For anyone interested here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L3W2Z47?ref=myi_title_dp&th=1&psc=1&utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app
Today I discovered a Tasker Add On called "Tasker App Factory" that let's you to quicly create an Android app based on Tasker Task. Then you can use Google Assistant to say "Start my app". It gives you a massive amount of flex ability. This video explains it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=Z9LX5Xp7lSM Android app is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.appfactory
Well, it is less convenient but you could still download Android Auto (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.projection.gearhead) and launch it whenever you are driving. Might even be able to launch it with an NFC tag that you stick somewhere in your car.
EDIT: I just re-read your reply, if your phone uses bluetooth to make the connection you can still go into the settings in Android Auto and have it auto launch whenever it connects to your FM transmitter. It can be any bluetooth connection, doesn't have to be a car.
how is that even a good price in November 2018?
last year, Lowe's had it at $24 each (November 2017)
and I bought two at the local Lowe's store. Ended up
returning both after two months because the Mini
didn't really do much.
This was the original Slicksdeal thread from 2017:

Or is the current Mini any different than the Mini
that I returned in 2017?
Thanks!
Use IFTTT to send an Item to a Trello list. https://ifttt.com/applets/cCf2FDuY-create-new-trello-cards-by-voice-using-google-assistant
I just say, "Hey Google, Add bananas to my shopping list". Assistant replies, "OK, I've added bananas to your shopping list".
Works every time, without having to say the "talk to" command like other 3rd party apps.
IFTTT works extremely well tying 3rd party apps to assistant.
Everyone here is wrong - you can set priority to devices with home+google wifi. Take a look here too if you're familiar with IFTTT https://ifttt.com/google_wifi. This isn't exclusive to just google wifi though.
I used this IFTTT recipe to get a notification when it went on sale. Wound up getting the wired version for $20.
What about using something like ifttt
My daughter requires medication multiple times every day so I just set up an ifttt command that puts it into a google calendar. I just say "ok google, medication name" and it gets put in calendar.
Then at the drs, we can see exactly when she was given her medication.
Can IFTTT help out? This recipe doesn't seem like it exactly helps out but it could be a start? I don't use Spotify (use Google Play Music but don't subscribe to it) so I can't test right now, but I've used these recipes to patch Google Assistant into services deeper and it works pretty well https://ifttt.com/applets/NvpNJKCn-add-songs-to-spotify-playlist-using-google-assistant
yes! i use an applet that turns on my lights when i get home. so geofencing is possible. using ifttt maker you can add at least 2, maybe unlimited commands to a single trigger. so it should be pretty easy to do whatever you want.

Ok, it seems really easy. 1) Create an account on Todoist 2) Add a project called Grocery 2) Create an account on IFTTT and then follow this link: https://ifttt.com/applets/478848p-add-a-task-to-todoist-by-voice 3) Configure IFTTT:
What do you want to say: Add $ to my Grocery
And another way? (optional) - I left alone for now.
What do you want the Assistant to say in response?: You got it baby, I added $ to your grocery list
Which project: Grocery
Task content: leave TextField
Press Save
Give it a shot. It worked for me the first time. Up till about 30 minutes ago, I had never used Todoist or IFTTT. Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
They have regular lights AND color changing lights (and maybe a version of white that changes tone some).
The color changing are more expensive. The majority of my use is orange in the evenings and sometimes blue when it is raining. I do use a lot of variations of white though. Energize, read, etc. You can also have lights change different colors to notify you of different things. Door open, package delivered, text, doorbell I guess if you have a smart one. Pretty much anything you could think via IFTTT. Oh! I also have an IFTTT for watching a movie. Turns them all down and a few red to maintain night vision.
It is all pretty cool and you can really dive into the automation/ ifttt side of things! The ability to say Ok google, dim the lights, turn on the bedroom lights, etc is awesome too. Also there are deals from time to time, be sure to take advantage of one.
This one expired, but gives you an idea.
Best of luck!
sure https://ifttt.com/ lets you create little automated "if this" "then that" style routines. For my general life organization I don't use gmail, I use inbox.google.com - its still your gmail but a more GTD (Getting Things Done) style interface. I created a ifttt recipe for google assistant so that I say "hey google absolutely don't remind me $" - the $ is whatever I say afterward. Then ifttt emails "remember to $" to my gmail, and it shows up in my inbox.
Works in the UK unless...
You subscribe to Spotify Premium through a partner.
You don’t currently have an eligible Spotify Premium account.
Your Spotify Premium account is not based in the UK.
You pay for Spotify Premium with a gift card.
You’ve already redeemed a smart speaker through a previous Spotify offer.
Funny you should ask this, as I've been asking myself the same thing, and today I came across this:
Sure, here in the USA.
In the United Kingdom though, these things happen:
>Amber and yellow weather warnings have been issued as the third named storm of the season - Storm Caroline - brings gale force winds to parts of Britain.
That there is from the Great Britain Weather.com site
>https://www.spotify.com/us/family/
Careful with that as I believe they track where you are since this is supposed to be for only those that live with you. I think ...I may be wrong but I thought I saw something in regards to that.
This might be what you're looking for, although it says in a note that newer Google Homes don't work with it anymore. Still might be worth checking out. You can see the code here.
The future! Lol. https://home-assistant.io/
Check it out. There's is some amazingly cool things that you can do with the platform. For example, I've been able to Broadcast messages for over a year and have things like a radio alarm clock, announce when I have arrived home.
Use the Text to Speech component:
https://home-assistant.io/components/tts.google/
Example:
# Notify when Mail has arrived - Home - alias: 'Mail Alert Home' trigger: platform: state entity_id: binary_sensor.mailbox_opened from: 'off' condition: condition: and conditions: - condition: state entity_id: input_boolean.mailbox_switch state: 'off' - condition: state entity_id: device_tracker.rpitera_rpitera state: 'home' action: - service: tts.google_say entity_id: media_player.living_room_home data: message: 'Pardon the interruption, Robert but the mail has been delivered.' - service: input_boolean.turn_on entity_id: input_boolean.mailbox_switch
Thank you all for the kind words :) I know the app is still far from perfect to give a seamless experience but I hope it can be useful to many people already. If you can, please leave a rating/review on the google's directory page which can help extend the reach. The listing is at https://assistant.google.com/services/a/uid/0000009e67666043?hl=en
Cheers and please keep the feedback coming !
Specifically regarding "Night Light" as a name:
There is a registered action called "Night Light" (here) which causes the conflict.
Just call it something else.
It's a shame. Google actions don't get the same kind of love that Alexa skills seem to. I think most people don't know they exist since Google doesn't promote them very well. In Alexa "skills" is a menu item in settings. In Google "Actions" is not seen anywhere.
Anyway my latest favorites action is Mastermind.

Go to this Google Assistant directory page, and in the search bar type in “flash cards.” Lots of things show up. To use on GH, just say “OK, Google, talk to [name of flash cards].”
BTW, we just had lots of fun here with the Pokémon flash cards. Thanks for the tip!
