I have this. Got for $750ish. Thermals out of the box are not great. I had to repaste and undervolt. Even with both CPU floats in the 90s in Red Dead Redemption 2.
1660ti max q is still a quality GPU. I believe I get around 5000ish in Time Spy. RDR2 gets 60 FPS on medium-high settings. It should run most AAA with 60fps on high settings or better.
Battery life is decent; I average around 3hrs or so with medium brightness on light workload. Like most laptops gaming on battery is not too feasible. You’ll get 30fps for less than an hour before it dies.
The big downside is the screen, which is trash. Totally washed out colors and very dim. Adjusting gamma just makes the washed out colors look worse. I replaced with a new screen off amazon which had full rgb coverage and 300 nits. The swap took less than 15 mins. The screen was $80ish I believe.
Edit: this is the screen https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NQNSSCW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The second option is the Acer Nitro 5 from Best Buy which will be on sale for $599 on Black Friday as well.
Check out the Acer Aspire E 15 for $379 would be a great option for you.

You work with large data-sets so I assume you need more cores and lots of ram. Maybe an Nvidia graphics card for computational power too depending on what software you use.
The best value in terms of price to power are the Dell G-Series.
Here was one posted on Slickdeals recently for $750 after rebate with a 6-core Intel processor and Nvidia GTX 1060. It's a gaming laptop but not too garish for your needs. Battery is only 4.5 hours though.
You can have power or you can have battery but not both. If you want better battery, an XPS 15 or 13 might be a better bet but will be harder to fit in your budget. An older 4-core XPS 15 can be had for about $1000 off dell outlet. A newer 6-core one costs more.
HP has some good options too (spectre is their premium line). Acer is also a good value brand (can be found at Costco quite cheap).
HP Omen 17 was on sale recently with similar specs + a 1070 for around 1300
edit: here it is- https://slickdeals.net/f/12146182-hp-omen-17t-17-3-laptop-i7-8750h-16gb-ddr4-gtx-1070-8gb-128gb-ssd-1350-free-shipping
might be dead now, but some folks were getting it for 1150 after rebates. Would expect similar pricing around BF. I read the first 2060 laptops should be launching very soon, which should lead to some nice discounting on the older models.
edit 2: just checked and deal is still live. you can also stack another 100 off from retailmenot, add a cashback card, and total comes down to 1250 or less before taxes. it only has a 128nvme + 1TB drive, but you could always upgrade down the line rather than paying their premium to move up more. Pretty nice deal for a quality device from a company with reputable customer service. Dont know what the design department was thinking though.. it does have some questionable looks
The laptop comes with Lenovo Vantage already which you should use to update all the drivers when you get it. You should also separately get Geforce Experience for your GPU drivers, and update them, then reboot.
Then, once you verify the drivers look good, you should go into bios and enable switchable graphics and then open Lenovo Vantage again and you’ll be able to download the drivers for the integrated graphics, do that then wait until your screen looks normal again, then reboot.
If you’re going to primarily use this at a desk and not move it around, you can switch back to dedicated graphics in the bios, otherwise you can leave it in switchable mode as it will use your GPU when necessary but there is an FPS loss that’s enough to be noticeable when it is enabled.
You can also set the profile with FN + Q, I normally used balanced, but you can use the extreme mode when gaming, and you’ll want to use the quiet mode while away from power (and turn on battery saving mode, reduce display refresh rate to 60hz in settings, and make sure switchable graphics are enabled if you want to get close to that 6 hour battery life). Also go into your display settings and make sure you are at 144hz refresh rate if you’re going to use this at a desk primarily.
The last thing to do is reinstall your software which you can do easily with https://ninite.com, but thats about it for setup.
I don’t have an external fan underneath but it may reduce the fan noise when gaming if you use an external cooler like that, since it will generally improve your temps by a marginal amount, so it’s up to you if you want to spend the money. This laptop doesn’t really throttle but it does get pretty loud.
This the cheapest option in your range
Ive been looking at this for 2 days now
but .

this convinced me to never touch their products.
967 reviews on trust pilot. 80% are 1/5 if you could get 0 im pretty sure they would have an even lower rating. And the reviews are as recent as 2 weeks ago.
Could you go over the $700 budget? This ASUS ZenBook 13 would be a very nice pick that matches what you would want.
In terms of running games , this Acer Swift 3 of which I am currently an owner, would do a great job - thanks to its dedicated graphics card that the Zenbook doesnt have.
The Zenbook has a slightly better display.

hey, hoping someone can help. I was looking to get a new laptop that can run FL studio well and play games occasionally, but mostly just looking to get a solid powerful laptop that will last awhile. My current laptop has W10 and a HDD, lots of issues. Not sure if it's W10 or the HDD, or both. I usually stick with ASUS but I saw this deal and almost jumped, I looked it up on amazon and saw this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BB9RWXD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They have an amazon warehouse deal "Condition: Used - Very Good - Small cosmetic imperfection on top, front or sides of item. Missing bonus material. Item will come repackaged."
I always have good luck with warehouse, usually it's just the packaging damaged etc. If it's actually used/messed up I can return it, it was $1,000 after tax total. Worth it? Thank you!
Incredibly easy to upgrade the thermal paste to allow the CPU to run at full speed instead of "thermal throttling" to low speeds.
Something like thermal grizzly kryonaut would be much better than the stuff mentioned in the video (Arctic Silver came out in 1999. There's much better stuff now).

Its a solid laptop but the lack of an SSD will slow you down greatly. If you have a $600 budget you can look at the <strong>Acer Aspire E 15 Amazon</strong>|<strong>Acer Aspire 5 Newegg</strong> but idk what your main use will be
· 15.6" Full HD IPS
· 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U version
· GeForce MX150,
· 8GB RAM Memory,
· 256GB SSD
This Acer E15 laptop comes with an 8th gen quad core i5 or i7 processor which is great for CAD and cpu intensive works (i7 versions costs around $100 more). With the MX150 graphics card you will have a much better gaming experience than with a GeForce 940MX. FHD IPS display is also good for its price
This "Acer Aspire 1 A114-32-C1YA, 14" Full HD, Intel Celeron N4000, 4GB DDR4, 64GB eMMC, Office 365 Personal, Windows 10 Home in S Mode" is $249.99 at Amazon with prime shipping. You CAN'T upgrade the tiny SSD, and you CAN'T add a hard disk drive. But as a tablet-with-a-keyboard it is certainly inexpensive.
The <strong>Acer Aspire E15 Amazon Version</strong> is the laptop that you are looking for . It has the 1080p display that you wanted and it provides good bang for buck which laptops at this price range don't usually provide

I’m a complete noob when it comes to PC hardware and specs, but in the market for sub 1k USD laptop. How does this compare to something like this Lenovo Legion 5
I don’t totally care for the red color scheme of this nitro, but it seems like a good deal to not pass up?
check out this <strong>ASUS Chromebook C300SA</strong>
Get this <strong>Acer Aspire 1</strong>
This Swift 3 would do a very good job for you. I actually own this laptop and with the 8th gen quad core i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, and an MX 150 GRAPHICS card, it is able to do well at multi tasking and even running games that are far more demanding than indies. In addition, this laptop has a nice solid metal chassis, it is very slim, weighs well under 4 pounds and has a good 10 hour battery life which I am proud of.
It is possible to run two hard drives in this computer but the cable and cradle are not easy to track down. 500 GB SSD NVMe M.2 drives are going for $75-80 and another stick of memory is $30. https://slickdeals.net/f/12270274-costco-members-hp-14-laptop-i3-8130u-4gb-ddr4-128gb-ssd-315?v=1
Not sure about online, but Best Buy does have it for $599 in-store. Could keep track of it and see if it applies online as well on BF.
Check out Slickdeals.net i saw one for around that price in last weeks deals. not sure if its still valid although they tend to have daily deals on laptops. if you sign up for the site they can even send you alerts when something you are looking for matches.
Here is the Slickdeals thread on this laptop from a couple days ago. Went ahead and ordered one for college student. Seems like an awesome deal for a 2 in 1 especially if gaming isn't on your radar. The 940 does OK but I notice a bunch of people saying to step up the GPU if you want to go more for gaming. Especially when you see these cheap gaming laptop deals everyday and they have 1050ti and 1060s.
I think its fair Alienware has quite a nice build quality. You can get like another brand with same specs for 1-200$ dollars cheaper if you really dig around. Or for 150$ more you can get this
You're going to probably need to pick up another SSD or a HDD because 236 gbs on a gaming pc is nothing btw.
What do you think about this? Also this might only be a deal if you're a costco member.
That’s hard to say. Typically Apple products don’t get very steep discounts, but if you are dead set on getting a MacBook Air I have seen them go as low as $750 or $800 dollars during back to school sales. I would assume the MacBook Air would sell for around $800 dollars for Black Friday. https://slickdeals.net/newsearch.php?q=Macbook+air
I like both deals, but can you guys tell me which one you think would offer better bang for the bucks? I'm so clueless at these so I really appreciate your help!
Also, what do you think about this deal? I've done the math and it turns out to be $633.99.
I am hunting for a gaming laptop and this is my criteria:
Budget: $1000 usd
Graphics: 1060 gtx or better
Processor: i7 6700HQ or better
Memory : 16gb ddr4 or better
Storage: any HD + SD combo or 256gb+ SSD
A few deals have popped up in the last couple months, like the Acer Predator Helios for $900 on Prime Day
Here you go, Rakutin has some old off lease T430 ThinkPads 128gbSSD and 8GB of memory and a fresh copy of windows 10 for $120. The tiny trackpad and screen resolution is old school but with a mouse and a external monitor this would be a serviceable machine. The cheap netbook things out there with no memory and tiny 32gb drives are no good with windows.
This is right on the sweetspot of my budget. I need something for gaming since I have to travel for about a month.
Does anyone know if this is comparable to the legion 5 here:
https://smile.amazon.com/Lenovo-Display-Processor-GeForce-82JW0012US/dp/B08YKG5K7F

I much rather spend $150 less
I didn't get time to install it today, still not sure.. I'll try my best to remember to post here when I find out.
This is the stick I got:
Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz CL22 Laptop Memory CT8G4SFRA32A - $46.99
I thought we would get many more offers, only the triton is a decent offer but not sure if I want a 2070 super with max q, this one dropped 100 USD more:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08F7ZTRWF/ref=ox\_sc\_act\_title\_1?smid=APTJB2SEQO65W&psc=1
Was wanting to spend 500 or below, but I like that this one has more memory.
Is this one a good deal for the price?
Thoughts on the razer deal compared to this MSI GL75 Leopard Gaming Laptop: 17.3" 144Hz Display, Intel Core i7-10750H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, Win10, Black (10SDK-651) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091265XFT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2RN60557WC20ZRXTNWSA?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 17’ is what i want but screen size ignored is the razer deal not just worse?
Guidelines
◽️ Budget: 300-500 USD
◽️ Country: USA
◽️ Screen size: 15'6 (no big deal)
◽️ Touch screen: No
◽️ Screen resolution: No preference
◽️ Does battery life matter ?: No but it is a great plus
◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Web browsing, Word processing, low end gaming
◽️ Weight: Nope
◽️ Any other important details ?: Amazon please, since I live overseas, it helps a lot AmazonGlobal
This is actually pretty chief. Similar spec to the MSI that was hot a few months back (that I got), just less ram and a slightly weaker cpu. Oh and a smaller HDD. Ok, the MSI was better value.
(but it was $1699)
Based on what I've heard, the included RAM has bad sub timings, which is why the performance is mediocre. So, this 32 GB 3200MHz CL22 RAM kit from Crucial should be a decent replacement.
its there for 938$ if u want it. the like new ones. it has gone on sale only twice in the last 6 months. its not worth the wait for the 40$
◽️ Budget: I would like to stay in the 700-900 range if possible but I can reach into the $1000 range if necessary. I have multiple months to wait for a sale if one may come up, as well if that helps.
◽️ Country: USA
◽️ Screen size: 14" or 15.6" (honestly I have no idea which I would prefer)
◽️ Touch screen: Unnecessary.
◽️ Screen resolution: At least 1080p
◽️ Does battery life matter ?: Longer than average preferred, but not looking for the longest battery life available.
◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: working while traveling (e.g., excel spreadsheets, mild scripting/coding, data visualization tools) and very seldomly light gaming like Civ VI or maybe Overwatch on the lowest settings. If gaming isn't in the cards, I won't be that upset.
◽️ Weight: Not that important, but lighter would be better I guess.
◽️ Any other important details ?: I will also purchase a portable second monitor to help with my workflow. I imagine all laptops are compatible with those, but just in case, I do need that feature. I have been directed toward the 2019 Lenovo IdeaPad L340 15.6" so far, and I have also been warned against both Dell and HP laptops, so I guess feedback on that laptop and also feedback on HP and Dell as a whole would be welcomed as well.
I personally would prefer at least 300 NIT brightness, because my eyes aren't too good, and the use cases will be like public spaces with bright lights, but if I am stuck with 250 at this price point, it is what it is.
https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkBook-13s-2560x1600-Thunderbolt/dp/B08Y2DK89P/
Model with the i5 instead of the i7 (which should perform pretty much the same in a laptop this thin and light) is $850 on Amazon if tick the coupon applied at checkout box.
Hey everyone, appreciate your help in advance.

◽️ Budget: 800-1200 USD

◽️ Touch screen: No
◽️ Screen resolution: No Preference
◽️ Does battery life matter ?: No
◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for ( gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Regular computing tasks + light video editing. Medium gaming (apex + total war series + mostly strategy games )
◽️ Weight: No preference

◽️ Any other important details ?: After some research it seems like the Dell G5 SE and the HP Omen 15 are safest bets for what I'll be doing. The reason I'm reaching out to you all is because I'm no expert, and even though I would ideally buy a laptop that would last me 3-4 years at least for games, I don't want to pay $1200 for a computer if a $900 can easily get me where I want to be. Thanks all.
Thanks! I just ordered the Lenovo Flex 5 14" that was showing on another list. Is this one better? I dont really care about the touch screens it has so that isnt really a thing to factor in. It is soon enough that i could cancel if so.

I’ve been looking and I cant find something out. Does this have a way to upgrade storage? I checked if it has a SATA slot and I can’t find out. I’m also thinking of ram, is this ram good? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q6PJVTX/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A2NDNAPHQ3UDKH&psc=1

There are a couple better screen versions of this at amazon for another 100 bucks BUT drops down to i5 :
9SEXR-839 - 144Hz
9SEXR-249 - 120Hz
Amazon should ship to Canada correct?
Very similar to the one in my other reply except it has a small solid state and a large hard drive. Basically you put anything you want to go fast (main games) on the solid and the rest on the hard drive.
hey man I did a lot of research these past few days, this computer here is great, and coincidentally ranked #1 on amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DT4A2R4/ref=twister_B01G2C1YY0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
here's a video I found: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIGuQi9Gb8c
Pros: Dedicated graphics card, ddr4 ram, fast 256SSD, open slot ready for 2nd hard drive and ram, 550 bucks.
The only negative I found was the screen isn't the best quality or brightness.
I was gonna buy it, then got a bump in budget to 700.
I don't think the price listed here is a deal - it's likely the normal price. With that said, you can get practically the same machine with a Ryzen 7 CPU (much faster processor) with the same about of RAM and SSD space for $25 cheaper:
https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Octa-Core-Graphics-Fingerprint-SF314-42-R9YN/dp/B086KKKT15
Screen resolutions are a bit different, but it shouldn't be super noticeable. I'd personally go with the Ryzen over the Intel.
Edit: It's also worth noting that the Intel chip is more than a year old while the ryzen is less than 6 months old according to https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-7-4700U-vs-Intel-Core-i5-1035G4/3699vs3581
Most laptops on the market don't have both a decent amount of HD space and SSD. The only ones that probably do are gaming laptops on the upper end of your budget, many of which you'll end up paying a lot for the GPU and screen. If you don't mind a little DIY, you may be able to find an i7 with integrated graphics, and though it'll probably only have a HDD and 8GB of ram, you may be able to upgrade with an m.2 SSD and another 8 gig stick for only around $200. Do your research if going this route since many laptops aren't even this upgradable.
Edit: found this perusing Amazon and it technically fits your specs for $900 + tax, although the ssd is only 8GB
~~found another that has a 240 gb ssd~~ nvm, ssd only
It's awesome for its price! To put it into perspective, $900 on Amazon normally gets you this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Gaming-GeForce-VX5-591G-54VG/dp/B01MR82G0W
Which only has an i5 and a 1050ti.
Amazon claims customers have reported to them that there are some issues with specs of that laptop... The truth is though, I would prefer to go for this Lenovo Ideapad 700 that though it doesn't come with an SSD which you can actually add later on, it comes with a powerful quad core processor, the GTX 950 4GB Graphics card and of 8 GB RAM it has will be fine for any gaming..Also, it has a better display quality than the ACER, thanks to it's IPS panel and better color accuracy.
I bought a dell 7559 almost 5 years ago. Do you think this one would last a similar amount of time?
Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK 15.6"... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015PYYDMQ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I bought this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XNP29BR
If you're interested in buying it I'd be willing to sell you my old one. I can throw in the extended battery and an SSD for $225 + shipping. I didn't have any problems with my old one. I just wanted a gaming laptop, so I bought an Acer Nitro 5 and it's essentially become my main laptop, so this refurbished one is just collecting dust. (Note: The model in my Amazon link does not come with an extended battery or an SSD).
I recommend the Acer Predator Helios 300. It’s more than capable of doing everything you mentioned and more. Plus it’s on sale for $999 right now on Amazon.
The only issue you might have is the the small 256gb ssd. Buying a 1tb hdd should fix that right away. If you want, you can buy an internal drive and install it yourself, or just go for an external drive.
The Acer Swift 3 i5 seems to be over.
The i7 is actually $100 cheaper now on Amazon.
I did some research and ideally yes, you want to match the stick that your laptop already has. Mine however came with a ADATA brand RAM which I was unable to find on Amazon so I bought this Crucial one instead. I just made sure to get the same RAM speed, the one that my laptop came with was 2666, so I bought a 2666 Crucial one. Laptop seems to work at 2333 (I think?).

Now for the SSD I bought this Crucial MX500 which seems to be generally one of best rated ones but I also had a good experience with a previous WD Blue I owned but I prefer Crucial cloning tool.

Now this I what I bought for mine (spent ~$80), you might want to do some research on your own to determine what the best price/quality ratio is since prices are always changing and new deals are coming and going. Might be worth checking r/buildapcsales see if you some luck too.
Amazon lists: >Battery: 6-Cell 94Wh Extended Life Polymer
https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-MAG-15-GeForce-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B07X6MJ4X7
Maybe there was a typo previously? Both the aero and the mag-15 seem very similar as far as specs go. The Mag-15 might have better cooling/thermals. It's also a bit lighter.
Both have a solid brick for a power adapter though. Hopefully battery life is good enough to leave it home most of the time.
This laptop sleeve with the Legion 5 inside fits in that backpack very nicely, 1-to-1. Then the whole assembly sits fine on my shoulders and my back. However, keep in mind the weight: the laptop is about 2.5 kg + 0.8 kg charger (quite heavy for a charger, but it is slim enough to find a nice place in the backpack).
I see. Although it isn't on my list, the Acer Swift 3 with the 3:2 aspect ratio display has the best display available in this price range. It is a 2256 x 1504 13.5" IPS 430 nit IPS display and ~10 hours of battery life for light use.
But, if you're fine with a 300 nit 16:9 display, the MSI Modern 14 is an alternative. Once again, not on my list (since most people aren't too concerned about the display), but it has 16 GB RAM, which is more ideal for having lots of tabs open.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08D69XNG1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_t1_rSoyFb7B0B7GV
Thank you Btw in my case gaming is not important
Edit: on https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-VivoBook-Flip-14-TM420IA-Ryzen-7-Convertible-Review-Core-i7-Need-Not-Apply.488016.0.html it says: "The M.2 SSD, M.2 WLAN, and 1x SODIMM slot are all accessible. Keep in mind that 4 GB of RAM comes soldered."
Can you explain what this means ? Could I possibly upgrade the ram to 16 gb or would i be limited to less
Man, if it was like, 700$, that'd bea nice deal.
But 899$?
You can regularly find NEW Helios 300 for that prince...with 9750 and 144HZ, alongside 16GB of RAM.
Fuck, in fact, right now, I just found a Acer Nitro 5...with a 2060!
And 16GB, 144HZ, 9750H ect...for 1018$. 100$ more...for a system that is miles ahead.
Wait so a pen is included?
I ordered it on amazon, and ordered this pen separately
Lenovo Active Capacity Pens for Touchscreen Laptop for Lenovo Yoga 900S-12ISK, Miix 700-12ISK, Miix 510-12IKB, Miix 510-12ISK, Miix 720-12IKB,GX80K32882 - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AZC3HF2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ThB0EbW2D21GP
The manufacturers haven't said much. It is available for purchase (instead of pre-order) on Amazon, but it ships in May. I don't think that stock will run out or that the price will go up.
You definitely will need a laptop with a powerful processor, over 8 GB RAM- I would say, 16 GB would be decent and a solid graphics card. Within your budget , there are many powerful laptops, but not many provide the luxury of having it being light weighted, and a good battery life. Two good options that tick the boxes for you are ;
and
Both of those laptops would get the job done for you well. The MSI has a better battery life and looks more professional- it is also a little lighter. On the other hand, the Asus has a better graphics card but I don't know if you will like its weird keyboard layout and the fact that you will mostly need to use a mouse.
Both are very portable and powerful and will do the job for you well, Its all about your preference.
In that case, something like this Acer Aspire 15 would do the job for you. It is also one of the most popular laptops in this budget range because of its performance specs and battery life combination.
Considering your budget, I saw the <strong>HP Pavilion 15</strong> posted recently that has mostly what you're looking for. It has a nice 1080p touchscreen 15.6" display. You can probably run some light games on the integrated graphics.
Hi, for CAD, you might want to consider having a dedicated graphics card. So, the <strong>Acer Aspire E 15</strong> is a good fit for you. 1080p 15.6" display, a dedicated MX150 graphics card, and an i5 processor + 8 GB RAM to go with it. This laptop also includes an SSD.
In that budget range, this Acer E15 is usually my top pick in this budget range.
Hey, you might want to consider the <strong>Acer Predator Helios 300</strong> instead, especially because its on sale. It has a higher refresh display and a full GTX 1060 (not Max-Q). Some people have cooling issues, but they are manageable.
Be aware that this is NOT the 144hz model. That one has the 8th gen i7, and is listed here

> DELL i7577-5258BLK-PUS
For mid setting and even better at those games , this **Dell Inspiron would be more than fine.
Check out the <strong>Acer Swift 3</strong>. The price difference with the non gpu version is not great so I would get that version
· 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8250U Processor (Up to 3.4GHz)
· NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2 GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM
· 14" Full HD (1920 x 1080) widescreen IPS display
· 8GB RAM
· 256GB SSD
· Battery life 8+ hrs
· Weight 3.75

It has a solid build quality due to its aluminum chassis so it can take a few bumps on its way to work
This <strong>Dell Inspiron 13 7000 7370 Laptop</strong> i believe would be a pretty good choice for portability and it will be able to endure a few hit hear and there. for warframe it should be able to handle it because it isnt gpu intensive.
The best value for money laptop at that budget is the
<strong>Acer Aspire E 15 Amazon</strong>|<strong>Acer Aspire 5 Newegg</strong>
· 15.6" Full HD IPS
· 8th Gen Intel Core i5-8250U version
· GeForce MX150,
· 8GB RAM Memory,
· 256GB SSD
This Acer E15 laptop comes with an 8th gen quad core i5 or i7 processor which is great for CAD and cpu intensive works (i7 versions costs around $100 more). With the MX150 graphics card you will have a much better gaming experience than with a GeForce 940MX. FHD IPS display is also good for its price
Check out this <strong>Acer Nitro 5 Spin</strong>
Since CAD work is most important I would recommend that you get a stronger CPU over a GPU. Look at the Asus FX50 which has a 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor which is better suited for CAD. Its GTX 1050Ti graphics card will run AAA games at decent settings well
how about this <strong>acer aspire 5</strong>?
If you can go up to the $700, this 2018 HP 17.3 Inch HD+ High performance Laptop would be a very good pick.
So, in order for you to get a keypad, you will need to get at least a 15.6 inches laptop. In terms of the lightest 15.6 inches laptop with a numeric pad, this LG GRAM 15Z980-U.AAS5U1 laptop that weighs only an incredible 2.4 pounds, would be a great pick and prob the lightest with a num pad.
This laptop is under $600, has a large 100% sRGB screen, and over 10 hour battery life. Unfortunately, its RAM is limited to 8gb and is soldered on, preventing it being upgraded. However, it has a dedicated GPU with 2GB of vram, so the GPU won't be eating up system RAM like with an iGPU.

◽️ Budget: Within $1000 is preferred, but I am willing to go a little over budget if something better meets my needs.
◽️ Country: USA.
◽️ Screen size: +15in is preferred.
◽️ Touch screen: Not important.
◽️ Screen resolution: Minimum of 1920x1080.
◽️ Does battery life matter?: It'll mostly stay plugged in, but it would be nice to be able to browse the web or play some less graphically demanding games on the flights I regularly take, so I'm looking for something that could hopefully do those things for at least 3-4 hours on battery.
◽️ What tasks will laptop be used for (gaming, video editing, graphic designing, modelling, regular computing tasks, word processing etc) ?: Mainly web browsing and some work related tasks at home, but I occasionally do use it for photo editing and some gaming (such as indies, MOBAs and MMOs) when I'm away on vacation.
◽️ Weight: Around 4.5lbs
◽️ Any other important details?: I'm trying to find a good replacement/upgrade for my Dell Inspiron 15; something that I could carry in a backpack. A number pad is a must as I do need one for my work. I had previously considered a Lenovo Legion 7, but decided against it after learning of several privacy and security issues involving that particular brand, so anything other than a Lenovo.
Even though it's an older model, I was considering this laptop. A webcam isn't important to me and this seems to check most of my boxes. I see offers on ebay for used ones that are really affordable.
Would this be a bad idea?
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Zephyrus-14-inch-GeForce-GA401IH-BR7N2BL/dp/B08CZLW29Z
FWIW intel's webpage says there are two slots of RAM. on amazon there are reviews that one is soldered, one is upgradeable. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-A515-57-53T2-i5-1235U-802-11ax-Thunderbolt/dp/B09YFVNK2Q?th=1
also from amazon's page mentions extra slot for SSD. but from the reviews, some of the configurations are mixed so i'm not clear if it's this exact laptop or not
Can you upgrade the ssd drive or add an additional ssd or hard drive?
Answer:This laptop has one M.2 SSD slot and one 2.5" slot for a SATA or SSHD.

Assuming logic, Buy the Acer Nitro 5.
Get this instead:
Better, higher resolution screen. Which I think is very important to actually reading code. Most importantly it comes with an SSD for that speed.
The only thing worse than your posted model is less RAM, however this model has an extra empty DIMM so you can throw an extra stick of RAM in it latter when you have extra cash. A 4GB or 8GB stick would get you 8GB or 12GB total RAM which should last you many more years!
Hope this helps!
I choose a different configuration from the one below but the coupon code works the same.
i was originally going to order this one, but ended up swapping for the Omen 17 thats on sale. Adds the 8th gen processor, a nicer 144hz screen, and gsync for about ~$150 more (plus better thermals according to reviews.) I dont think youll see better on BF, but if HP does lower it some more, you can use a price protection card to cover yourself.
Keep in mind the 330s scored pretty low in terms of cooling but if you're not going to be gaming or doing heavy video editing it shouldn't really be an issue.
Most Ryzen laptops seem to have a few driver hiccups but once the're all set up it shouldn't have any issues
Slickdeals link to last deal. It was on sale for over a month so I'd expect to see it again soon or around Black Friday.
The Dell G7 has better cooling and usually has the better price and a Thunder Bolt 3 Port which is a big deal for future expandability and also outputting to a G-sync or high-resolution display. Look to spend under $900 for one on sale. You can wait and change the screen to a 120hz screen as well for about $100 using a panel off ebay.
The Acer Helios 300 has good cooling, a better color gamut 144hz screen, and a nicer tactile keyboard. It doesn't have TB3 though which limits future expandability and monitor connectivity. It's an excellent deal off the bat too if you're looking at the $1200 Amazon version. You can probably get one on sale or refurbished for about $1000 by black friday which makes it about equal to the Dell (assuming you upgrade the screen).
The dell edges out ahead of me because of the thunderbolt 3 and better cooling and better prices so far. Only laptops with display port or thunderbolt 3 can output to a G-Sync desktop monitor with G-sync. But they will cost about the same soon enough so chose what suits you.
