It's called Image Retention, I had same issue with an icon in the status bar.
I used an app like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper for few minutes and it disappeared.
Hope it can help you!
It's only on one of two or more of your homescreens? Can you post a picture(not a screenshot) of both homescreens?
edit: Never heard of it only being on one homescreen of the same screen. Usually just leaving the screen off for a few hours, or maybe days, along with a restart gets rid of them. However, you said it has lasted for over a week. Therefore, you may want to try this app that is made to remove them from LCDs and has many good reviews from LG phone owners, including G7 owners: LCD Burn-in Wiper. Hopefully, it will help. If not, you might need to get your screen replaced.
I would love to be able to manage the battery in that way, but I am skeptical of its effectiveness. If the battery could last for years with stopping the charge at 80%, that would solve so many battery issues around the world. Charge controllers could make batteries last indefinitely for long-term installations. Due to not seeing that be the case, I am putting it in the "yeah right" category. If there was a way to stop the charge at 80% automatically, thats one thing - but I can't guarantee I will for sure do it every time.
According to this website, the amount it prolongs isn't huge even at 80%:
100% DoD ~300 / 600
80% DoD ~400 / 900

Keeping the backup batteries cold and swappable, is a much more effective way in my own estimation. That goes from 300 / 600 to 600/1200 discharges, without having to babysit the phone while charging (which would only get you 400/900).
As far as retention on my V20 - I just downloaded a burn-in testing app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper) and can find no sign of any burn in at all. I got my V20 within the first couple of weeks of it being released.
LCD Burn-in Wiper & Pure Noise 2 Screen Burn Fixer have always worked for me when/if needed.
Not a lot, at least not a permanent fix.

Also look into getting an app from the Play Store that helps remove burn in.

> snake oil?
of course.

AMOLED and OLED devices are not supported.
(This is hardware defect. Google replaced so many devices in warranty. I have kept my 3XL as it is free storage...)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper Try this. Also dont ask me about the app being LCD. It works on AMOLED screens too. I think you have to use this app for 2 hours.

LCD burn in wiper
I tried to run the application for 7+ hours overnight but idk if it did anything but it does allow me to see it fairly well
You on Android? I have an app called LCD burn-in wiper. I don't actually know that it works but you can try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper There are also ones on the play store for oled screens
Love it! Everything has been better overall IMUC.
Running Nova Prime, completely stock on a H918.
As for any screen retention, I use LCD Burn-In Wiper & Noise (no longer in the Play Store!?) to resolve said issue with ease.
Did you try using lcd burn in wiper app? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper&hl=en&referrer=utm_source%3Dgoogle%26utm_medium%3Dorganic%26utm_term%3Dlcd+burn+in+wiper&pcampaignid=APPU_1_3Su2W9GbGcXtvASRq6OQCA. and I dont think lcd displays have permanent retention. Edit: Btw maybe your screen has some issues, but i heard about kernel changes that made screen burn ins possible so fast. Maybe they will fix it with future updates.
This is what is use, I'm sure there are others for the same purpose. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper
There are a ton of smartphone apps dealing with burn-in remedy.
Maybe your screen is set to never turn off, and you fell asleep browsing Reddit?
These apps seem to have some good reviews. They might be the best ones.
Try this App. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper
It will run a simulation which will help getting rid off these faster.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper Play this at full brightness for an hour or 2, non stop and don't touch the phone while it's cycling thru
Out of curiosity, how many hours a day do you use the same app? It's very hard to get ghosting on an LCD.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper
Try using this app for like 5 minutes. It should go away.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper
Also dont forget to use LCD burn in wiper for 10 to 15 mins to remove ghosting.https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=appinventor.ai_avaworks00.LCDBurnInWiper&hl=en
Try to install a screen burn in tool to check. Usually it shows up best on grey colors
