If your contacts are google synced, it should happen automatically.
There are many apps out there to copy and replace text messages. Here's a well regarded one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore&hl=en
I do find MMS times get messed up with restoring though.
Try downloading the Android File Manager software and putting the phone into "File Transfer Money" once attached to the computer.

Hi. I have found the best way to deal with that issue is using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eyefilter.nightmode.bluelightfilter
Then use the following settings:
Night mode lg g5 burn in prevention settings https://imgur.com/gallery/qXs7B
I can't even remember the last time I noticed any burn in after using that app.
Yes, with this cradle:
https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Charging-BCK-5100-Prime-Universal/dp/B01DX877UQ
Was $30 from LG, or $15 on Amazon for a long time, but now $45.
You can't charge the battery with just the "chin".
If your phone is going through a boot loop of seeing the charger, trying to start up, and then discharging the battery and shutting down, you either need a better charger or new battery, or patience.
Also, LG, if you're reading this:
First, Goto Settings>Display>Home screen & select another launcher, be it LG or 3rd party just as long as it's not that one. (if you already have others installed? If not, pick one you like & do so first. Nova is great IMO)
Then, uninstall whichever circle style launcher that is..?
You'll likely see the apps name in the aforementioned menu I spoke of above.
I found a post which was very helpful to the burn-in issue.
Basically it suggests downloading this App to fix this issue. You set the intensity to 5% and the Temp to 1800K (The Candle) I have yet to try this for a whole day but after leaving my phone keyboard on my screen for 10 minutes, there was no burn-in! There is a slight color differnce with some black colors but after a week you should have gotten used to it. This doesn't get rid of the burn-in completely, but it makes it take a lot longer for it to occur and makes it a lot less noticable.
You should have them if you have Nougat. I have them on my VS987.
What keyboard are you using? I can use them with SwiftKey.
You're shadowbanned, please talk to the admins over in /r/shadowban about it! Any time you post you'll have to be manually approved by that subreddit's mod team.
I also highly suggest Today Calendar if you're looking for some gorgeous calendar widgets. ;)

I bought this Vibrelli handlebar mount when I had my GS5 and it works great. I've used it for 2 years and have loved it. I've fallen on my bike and the phone stayed put. I put one on my girlfriend's bike and have recommended it to all my friends who bike. There are cheaper versions on Amazon as well, but go with what you feel in regard to cost vs. performance.
Also, the mount comes with 3 rubber "bands" (the part that holds the corners of your phone down): black, red, and gray.
Took a chance on this case (CoverON Paladin Series, not many detailed reviews) vs the Spigen slim/tough armor mainly due to price - and thought this design would give a little more textured grip. Here's the actual one I bought for real cheap, USA shipped:

https://www.amazon.com/CoverON®-Paladin-Protective-Modern-Style/dp/B01D09ZITA
Very impressed with the case. Slim as you would want - very firm TPU, perfect fit around the edges. Plastic plate fits so well you would think it isn't removable. Cutouts are good, plenty of room. Overall still a little slick, as the back is just smooth plastic - still better than bare phone. This is a well made case, doesn't give any impressions short of something from Spigen etc. and for $5 shipped it's a no brainer IMHO.

A late reply but wanted to mention you can add a strong magnet to the case to get it to work.
The Always-on display turns off when the proximity sensor (paired beside the light sensor between the front camera and earpiece) on the front is blocked. (Ignore the other guy in this thread talking about the "light sensor" being beside the headphone jack and mic up top - that is the Infrared blaster!)
However, the Always-on display stays on if it detects a magnet near the top left corner of the screen. This is how the OEM quick cases work.
If you can find a strong yet small and flat neodymium magnet, you can attach it to the inner lining of your case in this area. No cutouts on the case required.
To clarify confusion others here had over the sensors:
Between the headphone and mic on top = Infrared blaster (send and receive IR signals only!)
Left purple dot on front, nearest the front camera = proximity sensor
Right purple dot on front, nearest earpiece = light sensor
You can verify light sensor by testing with a lux app if you wish: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.doggoapps.luxlight
Install the app "System UI Tuner" - no root needed, but you'll need to run some commands on your PC.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner&hl=en
Once you've done that, you'll be able to use that app to indicate that you want per-app permissions for notifications (why LG pulled this capability is beyond me), and you'll be able to have notifications in your bar but no peeking, for all apps or whatever apps are being annoying. HTH!
I'd really like to get high quality VR for my PC, but the killer apps aren't quite there yet, and I don't think the quality is either. The resolution in an Oculus or Vive needs to come up further, and there needs to be even better apps.
So I got the plastic Cardboard just to see how compelling the idea of VR itself is, and it's pretty intriguing. I managed to download some illicit copies of a few big ticket movies in 3D VR, for instance, and while the resolution was bad, it was still pretty awesome, the 3D effect was quite convincing.
But VR on a phone, especially, is still just in the category of "fun toy". $50 isn't so bad as an entry fee, and it's interesting to see. I did try VR porn also TBH and that's... weird. You know it's just a movie recorded in 180 degree surround, but it's almost uncomfortable to have a performer "look you right in the eye" at close range.
If you haven't tried any kind of VR, the actual cardboard models for a few bucks may be a way to see what the hubbub is about. The Homido V2 is a completely different level though with the adjustable high quality lenses etc... but at the end of the day, the phone and the resolution is still what sets the limits of the experience.

Can you go into settings, storage, cache, clean up cache? Do you have problems with your internal or external storage? Maybe SD card is broken?
Download Total Commander & then access your sdcard after you follow the quick directions it will popup giving the OS access to the cards /
After that, download its LAN Plugin add-on for easily transferring media & sideloading APK's.
You can use a wifi analyzer to check signal from your phone and compare with a laptop to see if your phone is getting worse signal or noise.

Not a lot, at least not a permanent fix.

I apologize, I don't know what you're saying. Snap isn't the LG stock, no. It's CM stock, though.
Camera FV-5 is pretty good though. Regardless of CM or not.
You can get Nova, or maybe some other launcher. It doesn't have these counters by default. You can install separate app called TeslaUnread to have them in Nova, and you can disable and enable the counter for every each app.
The free version has a few templates for you to play with. If you want to unlock Zooper's full potential and download more templates like Fox for Zooper you have to pay for the pro version which I think is worth it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflow&hl=en_GB is the definitive app for this.
You'll also need: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlegacy&hl=en_GB if you don't want a permanent notification on your AO display.
Well you could go anywhere in the world. And an app like this lets you set routes so you can virtually walk around any city in the world and when you need to stop for something just pull down the notification drawer and click Pause.
I think the goodies are at parks or landmarks so you could go all around Central Park then hit the Eiffel Tower, etc.
This seems to have fixed my issue, unsure why but I installed GPS Status & Toolbox and GPS gets locked on right away, not sure if it was a permission issue for GPS or what but its almost an instantaneous lock. I need to try this a few more times and put my case back on to ensure it is true. Anyways worth giving it a try!

This one is pretty slim and actually works. I'm a bit peeved that it takes up a notification slot and is on the left side. If only the g5 didn't show only two notifications when locked...
The Samsung Galaxy Xcover pro has a replaceable battery, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and fingerprint sensor. Front and rear cameras have higher resolution than the LG G5. Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B085WTR7BJ Check out phonescoop.com to compare features side by side. To make your batteries last even longer get a charge regulators from chargie.org. I can't vouch for international compatibility, so a bit of research would be needed there.
According to the LG G5 QuickMemo+ help article, it does indeed save to the cloud, assuming you selected that option (to backup to your Google Account) when prompted during the apps first startup.
If so, simply download an APK of QuickMemo+ and login with the same Google Account and your data should be there.
If you're unfamiliar with installing third party APK files (Android Apps not derived from the Play Store) see this recent article on methods for various versions of Android.

You won't find any proper phones with removable batteries (there were 28 phones with removable battery released in 2018, all of them cheap low-ends). However, you can bring a powerbank instead. Sony phones have great battery performance, by the way. I suggest you to go to GSMArena's phone finder, set the year to newer and other settings to your preferences: https://www.gsmarena.com/search.php3 Also, don't forget to check battery endurance tests (in the specs, near the bottom).
I left mine on until my screen protector came in the mail I got this 1 from walmart and it's great no air bubbles if installed correctly - https://www.walmart.com/ip/Insten-3-Pack-Clear-Transparent-LCD-Screen-Protector-Film-For-LG-G5/140180519
One of these options might show the cycle count. If the cycle count is over a small number, then the battery is probably used. If it is less than 10 then it might be from your short use:

Additionally, there are ways to tell if the battery is defective:

Im assuming you're referring to the 3 dot menu?
If so in chrome it can be re-enabled by disabling the merge tabs and apps under the chrome settings menu otherwise you'll want to get xposed framework and the 3 dot menu module which enables it by default in all apps.
Unfortunately we are far from getting xposed on this device as the boot-loader is still locked and root hasn't been achieved.
Something to keep in mind though for the future, once we have root and xposed working!
Oh, one more thing - LineageOS does not include Google apps, such as the the Play Services apps and Google Play Store. Thus, you will need to flash OpenGapps after flashing LOS to get the Play Store. If you don't flash Gapps, you will find that you don't have the Play Store.
So first, flash the LineageOS zip. Then you will need to flash OpenGapps. You can get them here - https://opengapps.org/
The G5's Snapdragon 820 is an ARM64 SoC, so select ARM64, then select Android 11.0, and then select Pico. Then download the zip.
After you flash LOS and Gapps, I highly recommend you flash Magisk as well. If you don't flash Magisk, your phone will fail SafetyNet, which means banking apps and things like Netflix won't work.
For Magisk, just download the Magisk apk file here - https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk , and rename Magisk.apk to Magisk.zip. Then you can proceed to flash that zip as you did OpenGapps. After all three are flashed, you can reboot to system. Be advised that first boot will take a long time, so be patient.
So, you go on this link:
https://twrp.me/lg/lgg5h830.html
Find the download link, download the file. You will find several, get the newest one. After download, rename it twrp.img, and move it to the location where you launch your ADB command prompt. For me, I have the Android Platform Tools, I move it to the root folder of APT, then launch the ADB command prompt from the root folder. After this, the flash command should work.
Download magisk (both the .zip and magisk manager APK) from https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Install the zip (do not unzip it first) inside of TWRP, then install the apk inside Android. That should give you root.
Wow, then that means my preorder in Amazon Spain won't be until after the UK's. https://www.amazon.es/LG-Smartphone-Snapdragon-grabaci%C3%B3n-Marshmallow/dp/B01D9WZYFG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1460017003&sr=1-1&keywords=lg+g5

I do not know if you use Torrent on your phone but a old ZTE phone was filled up by unfinished torrents that i never succeeded to remove.

If you want, you could try, it's not my recommendation ANYMORE, but it was in earlier years of Android, it is to try this tool:

Good cleaner that does NOT remove your DOWNLOAD folder for example or other stuff... See what you find with it.
This is the best Screen Filter if you do not want to be giving your phone a weird yellowish color. It pretty much just put a darkening filter over the display to prevent the harsh whites and some colors from burning into the display.

In case you don't get that working and don't want to spend money on repairs, this might help: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&hl=en
I had issues with another Android device not rotating, but with that software you can work around it mostly. You can even specify apps to always run horizontal or vertical, useful to force video playing apps into horizontal mode etc.
I'd personally paint all the connectors back there with some Stabilant 22, if I ever have to open mine due to the GPS issue (or any other issue, I'll probably do it since it would be open anyway.)
Stabilant is great in that it seems to really make marginal electrical connections much more stable, due to some materials magic.
It's expensive as shit, but since you use such tiny amounts it lasts basically forever and can help with any intermittent connection issues. I used it on my motorcycle for instance when installing accessories.

So far, the only good results I got were with Inskin full coverage tempered glass protector. SKU : X001DJP495
Keep in mind that I am using a very light case from Spigen, one that does only slightly overlap on the edges, so it does not push on the protector. Touch screen sensitivity is still pretty good. And I have gotten good customer support from Inskin. My best find so far for full screen glass protectors.
I've found this on Amazon, but the RS988 isn't specifically listed as an approved model
But it should still work, right?
The TrendOn are trickle charge. My G5 charges in 30-45min, i.e. "quick charge".
There's threads on this sub discussing batteries; many oem not performing well BUT the consensus on the battery kits (5100) was they seemed legit, or at least performed as well. Batteries or chargers separate was luck. So I just got the kit. Worked for me. I don't have any magical insight. The prices vary. Just recently I saw kits at $25. There for awhile some about $37 and now it looks like they are $49 again. I missed out the 1st time I saw the lower price and had to wait a couple of months for the price to drop again. But it happens. LG G5 BCK-5100 OEM Extra Standard Battery & Charging Dock Cradle Charger Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CYVOHYW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_22ddAbXHQVYT3
I went through several LG cords before trying a Samsung one which has lasted the longest for quick charging. LG's cables didn't last for me. I'm addicted to the quick charge because from day 1, the battery only lasted about 4 hours for me. That's fine if I can charge again in 30 min. Even better with a spare that charges fast. The TrendOn took all night = useless for me. Everyone uses their phone differently I guess. I can charge LG in my car. I couldn't with TrendOn. I should probably sell you my old TrendOn's.
Thanks!
If you've any other tips or tricks to recommend, you have my attention!

The method worked great, I endorse that. The replacement cover was just fine, but you could go any number of routes on that I'm sure and be okay.
Either way, it saves $100+ if you were to go the warranty route.
Mine arrived last week and was installed with no problems.
Its working perfectly with no issues with the light sensor that other people have experienced.

Thats the UK ebay but the brand on the package the LCD came in was "KR-NET" - so I would recommend screens from this manufacturer.
Amazon US seem to have them here
https://www.amazon.com/KR-NET-Display-Screen-Digitizer-Assembly/dp/B01LXANYN5
Im sure they are available elsewhere too.
I still don't understand why more of these things don't have charging included though, what the fuck do they expect me to do about that?
I want to try using this to display a video call on a monitor but because I'm using my phone for wifi/camera/screen is on I lost over 20% battery life in a 21 minute call with a USB-C to Display Port Alt adapter when I used it without a charger plugged in.
That adapter is one of the only affordable ones I've found with charging but the HDMI connection is intermittent and seems to drop out when the cable is moved slightly like the pins in the USB-C end are not making proper contact in the phone so I had to send it back for a refund.
Also why is there no option to change the screen's orientation? It's as if the Android people in charge of this were absolutely retarded. I plug my G5 into my TV and of course there's giant black bars on the side of the screen, but I want to plug it into a monitor that's setup in Portrait mode and have NO black bars, this should be possible but there is no option for it at all.
Mine just arrived today and I've finished the install.

I've stickied this thread because it's pretty damn useful and would cut down on dupe threads.
Also, throwing my vote in for the Spigen Thin Fit. Feels sturdy enough that I'm not going to worry about it breaking when I drop it, but slim enough not to increase the profile too much.

If you want the GPS to work, buy some Stabilant 22, open the phone (easy to do with some care) and gently do the GPS pin bending fix and paint diluted Stabilant on the pins and the connectors on the rear shell. That should almost certainly sort it, unless you routinely sit on your phone and squeeze it together or something.
https://www.amazon.com/Stabilant-5ml-Kit-Makes-30ml/dp/B001E50GQS
I mean, sure, if the pins bend back way too much when the phone is compressed so there's an actual air gap, then nothing will work, but if the connections are just iffy, Stabilant might just do the trick.
It has a very rubbery feeling and its case unfriendly, it also recreates bubbles under the skin. I had to order it at least 3 times and they were all the same.
I always buy the clear plastic gel cases like this one
Keeps the form factor slim, sleek, and provides good grip, decent protection, and I can see my actual device, and they're cheap ($6.99)
I got this SKINU case a month or so ago. I love that it comes with the adapter. It's not super slim, but it's not nearly as bulky as some.

Just check it out, its an expensive case. £69.99 here in the UK.
I'm pretty careful with my phones, I've not damaged one in years. If I do, I have free mobile insurance with my bank account that only has a £25 excess.
I went for this case in the end.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/SUPCASE-Full-body-Holster-Protector-Release/dp/B01BRFS6S4
Not a novelty case by any means, but this faux leather wallet case it the case I had for my last phone and I was really pleased to find it was available for the G5 (I just switched yesterday).
For the price, I think it's a great buy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C25N1CE/
I'm excited to see what novelty phone cases pop up in this thread. There's a "shell phone" case I really liked (makes your phone look like a mermaid's sea shell). Maybe the G5 will have more options than my last phone?
I have the Roam Co-Pilot universal bike mount and it works pretty good. The strap system they use has holes that do leave room to hit the finger print sensor to unlock the phone if necessary. The one I have is prior to the latest generation that looks like it has some updates. (mine has black elastic.) https://www.amazon.com/Roam-Co-Pilot-Universal-Motorcycle-Handlebars/dp/B013MDDEAO/ref=lp_6682000011_1_1?srs=6682000011&ie=UTF8&qid=1470921833&sr=8-1
You could try some Stabilant 22. It's magic for intermittent connections.
Expensive per weight, no question, but a little goes a long way.
https://www.amazon.com/Stabilant-5ml-Kit-Makes-30ml/dp/B001E50GQS/
That seems to be the H860 which is also cheap on Amazon (USA): https://www.amazon.com/LG-G5-Snapdragon-Quad-Core-Smartphone/dp/B01DAOZ9GC
They're all around that price in America actually, after digging anyways.
I use a Handleband for my G5. Only water resistance is what your case gives. It stretches over the whole phone and case as is, and holds it snugly.
Otterbox Defender is WAS.
Bulky as cases come. capacitive touch through the built in screen cover works surprisingly well. It has a nice deep lip on the sides to protect against face-down drops. and has a decent rubberized grip on the sides and back. as opposed to the glossy plastic feel i've gotten on two sets of Otterbox Commuter for other phones.
I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but I've always had static in my vehicle with my aux input going to my phone. I went out on a limb and bought a bluetooth adapter from amazon and it's the best decision I've made.
I hate cable clutter anyway, but as someone who has always had the problem you are referring to with multiple phones I thought I'd throw my two cents in!
This is the unit I purchased, originally bought it just for music, but now I use it even when I'm talking on the phone going down the road. Good luck to you in whatever decision you make!
I have one of these:
And I like it. I find it suprisingly thin.
I bought this one. Works good so far. Doesn't affect any of the cameras. Its also clear, which I like. It does have good cutouts and its cheaper than similar cases.
I haven't bought any chargers, but I did buy two of these USB cables, if you're looking for that also. They will fast charge successfully and are good quality. They fit the phone's USB port very nicely. http://smile.amazon.com/F-color-Braided-Reversible-Charger-OnePlus/dp/B010VUQCHS
Of course! When I got the Cam Plus I was going to a concert in a few days, and knew I just would not trust myself without at least a bumper or something on it. Started panicking until I remembered I had an extra case that I wasn't hugely fond of to begin with, and sliced it up and it worked just great. Perfect amount of grip and made me feel confident in handling the phone, even though the dust guards don't quite fit in their positions because of the longer length. Good luck!
This was that case, btw: http://www.amazon.com/Ringke-Resilient-Durability-Anti-Slip-Defensive/dp/B01BSZIHO6
So as long as it fits in here, I think it should work, and the case might not even show up on the video because of the 40° overlap between the lenses
Waterproof Case, 2 Pack Ace Teah Clear Universal Waterproof Case, Dry Bag, Pouch, Transparent Snowproof Dirtproof for iPhone 6S Plus SE 5S 5C, Samsung Galaxy S7 S6 edge, Note 5 4 3 - Blue, Green https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0118QANQK
Note: this doesn't protect the camera from pressure, so I don't know what depth this would be safe to
I don't know much about them but what about one of those HDMI adapters to use a tv as the display?

Edit: i guess this will only show pictures and movies, not the acutal OS
Do you happen to be charging your phone at the same time? If yes, you've got yourself a ground loop.

I got this one from amazon.ca for $15 https://www.amazon.ca/iOrange-E-Reversible-Braided-Macbook-ChromeBook/dp/B016ZYUEVE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1461607532&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+type+c+orange
Its Google approved
Honestly, this thing is about the best thing I've ever bought for my car with an aux port: http://www.amazon.com/Kinivo-BTC450-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Input/dp/B009NLTW60
Fixes your problem and gives you hands free calling.
Here are my thoughts.
The GVDV cables are pretty nice, but are a bit rigid. Build quality is solid, and reviewers note that they are safe.
The Skinomi screen protector pictured, however, is total crap. It is NOT edge to edge like it was advertised, the top edge irritates my thumb when I swipe down for my notifications, I can't see anything on the screen when I am wearing polarized sunglasses, it has an annoying rubbery feeling, and I'm overall pretty disappointed. I am trying to get a refund, or else ill just be ordering a different brand

The inside cover put a nasty glue stain on my lens. It took nail polish remover to get it off
This charger right? I had the same exact one but it doesn't seem to be "compatible" with the LG G5 so I returned it. I'm currently using this one with my phone and it works.
Also the iOrange adapters have been benson approved.
There are generic li-ion charges available
http://www.amazon.com/Universal-Battery-Charger-3-7V-7-4V-Lenmar/dp/B00CBO5AA8
Assuming that battery is li-ion. There are some li-polymer batteries, which probably shouldn't be charged by this device
Happened to me too. Might be an issue with your stereo, or whatever you have connected which has been unearthed by your phone. I bought a ground loop isolator and the problem went again completely.
Either taping up the part on the aux cable that would hit the mic pin in the phones jack or using a splitter like this one http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-headsets-separate-headphone-microphone/dp/B004SP0WAQ
Still waiting for reply. May give them a call tomorrow if they don't respond. For the mean time I got a aux to Bluetooth converter for my car. Works pretty well https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B011T32EHI/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_QmvfxbTD9VFBH
I got the Diztronic case from Amazon yesterday. It's very sleek and doesn't block the camera or anything. My only complaint is that it doesn't offer much in the way of grip.
The code still works, the links are wrong on some.
The plastic might have been another reason you didn't experience it. Plastic is an electrical insulator, and ground loop noise is cause by current generated in a circuit due to electromagnetic fields (back emf current). I'm not an electrical engineer (physics degree with some experience with E&M) but if there is a difference between the electrical potential of the body of the phone and the aux plug, that might be another source.
Figuring out the source of electical noise can be tricky, especially if you don't have access to the circuit, or a degree in the field. Luckily, the isolators aren't super expensive (I actually found the one I previously bought is listed for 8.10 on Amazon). Could you let me know if the anker one you purchased works with the fast charge? I purchased this one and it did not support the quick charge.
Thanks for this! I just got a pair of GVDV cables and had no idea this was a thing. Thankfully, many users are reporting that the cable passes just fine, though the quality is OK at best and data speeds are mediocre apparently. Thankfully I rarely plug it into my PC anyway, but I do plan to get a higher quality cable now in the event that I do want to plug in.
I feel like we should have a sticky for this and other things everyone should know right off the bat about the G5, like how to be careful of certain cases that interfere with the wide angle lens. Maybe a google doc would work well for that
isn't this the same one?, but 10$ cheaper?
