Lmao I'm having the exact inverse problem -- my LG V60 traces were perfect, but since switching to the iPhone 13 it's been Tokyo Drift out there
I will say that using an app like GPS Locker helped out a ton when I was on Android to ensure that the GPS was always on and as accurate as it could be.
Oh fyi, I just found this in another thread here idk if this will help but I'll definately be installing it if it happens to me again... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.silentlexx.gpslock&hl=en
This started happening with Waze for me as well. Some sort of power saving kicking in when the phone display shuts off. I fixed it by running GPS Locker.
Step one: diagnose the quality of the GPS signal. If you use Android: get an app like GPS locker. If your phone does not quickly get a lock on 10 or more satellites when you're in more or less open space, then there is a problem with the GPS radio in your phone. If so: open the back cover of the phone and tighten all screws that you can see. The GPS radio is usually under a metal shielding plate; if the screws are loose, the reception will suffer. For me, this worked like a charm. Before, I could not even get a GPS lock in a park when under trees, never mind on a street between buildings. After tightening the screws, the GPS reception was like when the phone was new.
I've had the same wandering issues with my Galaxy S7. It was always jumping around when switching between apps. So I decided to luck for a solution. This is an Interesting app. It's called GPS Locker. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.silentlexx.gpslock This app runs in the background ensuring that your GPS signal is never lost. I've been using it the last few days and have found that my eggs are getting more credit for the distance travelled. Before it seemed I would have to walk twice as far to register the same distance to hatch eggs. I hope this helps some of you out there. Good luck.
Awesome.. thanks so much for confirming it's not just me! :)
Is it the same deal trying to send location from, say, hangouts? GPS doesn't even come up at all?
In case you don't know about it:

.. is a good workaround for the moment.
I've been going over the FusedLocation API code and I have an idea where the problem might be. I'm just surprised hardly anyone else is complaining about it.
You didnt list what rom youre on.
If youre on MM, see link for fix. Just scroll down for the zip file. MM fix.
Also, a gps lock would help. There are several in the app store. I use an app called "GPS Locker" here: gps locker. Set it so the app opens each time you turn on the gps.
Good luck.
Try GPS Locker from the Play Store. It has worked great for me whenever I had constant GPS Errors inside a building.
