Edit2: ..And there is a workaround if you are desperate: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/safetynet-fix-pass-safetynet-2017-07-17-t3637801
Confirmed working on my device but some have still failed SafetyNet check- probably best to wait for the dev to update Magisk again.
Is Chainfire's SuperSU still relevant?
Love his work and used it for years, but it seems like Magisk has eclipsed SuperSU and provided a better solution to hiding SU along with being kind of a new Xposed framework.
If the app immediately closes after you open it, it is because you are rooted or your device fails Google SafetyNet.

oh and Taiwan nr.1! suck it Cheetah Mobile
these are the most popular options on Android devices in that order
don't know if there are options on iOS
Automagisk used this method to detect when Safetynet apps were running. It would be very simple to make what you describe, as well as allow for launching Bixby from the launcher and it to work
This way, any time Bixby is launched and the previous app was not the launcher, recent apps or Bixby itself, it will be closed and Assistant will open instead. It also should not be patched by Samsung unless they want to break legitimate accessibility apps.
Only downsides are that an accessibility service is still needed (or performGlobalAction won't be available), and that Bixby will briefly flash up when the button is pressed before Assistant, delaying it slightly.
Magisk's developer topjohnwu has said there is a fix coming. In the meantime, you can either use the fix shown here. Or you can install the Magisk Module I made which automatically implements the fix I mentioned above on boot.
I have the OP3, so I can't comment on specific issues.
If you already use Open Camera, then it should be the same with a custom ROM. 3rd party cameras don't benefit from OnePlus "optimisations".
Regarding Google Pay, it will stop working if you unlock your phone. Most people use Magisk, which is systemless rooting solution that hides all this from Google and allows the device to pass the SafetyNet check. Instead of using Lineage's root solution, use Magisk:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
From time to time Google changes their detection methods... but Magisk's author is usually quick to patch things. Also, it's not a regular thing, it may break once a year or so.
Officially LineageOS doesn't support Magisk, so don't expect official support if you decide to install some Magisk module that breaks something, but Magisk works fine on OnePlus phones and I doubt that you'll have issues.
You can use Magisk + NanoMod to patch signatures, heck, you could run NanoMod without Magisk if you want to.
This is a command-line tool that lets you access some lower level parts of your phone with a computer. You can download it here. You will also have to enable ADB debugging in the developer options in your phone. If you haven't used a command-line tool before, you might need to Google around for the basics. If you have it all working, you should be able to type 'adb devices' into a command prompt on your computer and get a prompt on your phone asking if you trust the connected device.
WARNING: THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE. Make sure OEM unlocking is enabled on developer settings on your phone. While connected to adb, type 'adb reboot-bootloader'. When the phone is rebooted to fastboot mode, type 'fastboot devices' and make sure that something shows up in the list. If it does, type in 'fastboot flashing unlock', followed by 'fastboot flashing unlock_critical'.
Your bootloader is now unlocked. You now have the ability to replace the software on various parts of your phone with whatever you want.
This should get you done with the prerequisites for this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/essential-phone/how-to/guide-rooting-essential-ph-1-magisk-t3701976
When it asks for the Magisk zip, get it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Try This. It's not currently in the repo – it was, but isn't now for some reason – but you can use Magisk to install it, and use a terminal app to set the parameters like your 80% max charge, then forget about it. The developer is responsive if you do have an issue.
I'd use magisk now instead of supersu for root, as it has better ability to hide root and not trigger safetynet. Everything in your guide before that should be the same though https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

on top of that unless you have the exynos version you won't be rooting it, just so you know.
Yeah, there is an open-source implementation of GPS called "MicroG" which has a pretty good compatibility with GPS-dependent apps.
The quickest way to set this up would be by using NanoMod, mostly because you'll need to patch signature spoof into LineageOS, by spoofing the signature, MicroG will fake being GPS and will do what you need.
Edit; You might also need to delete any files or folders named "Magisk"
If you have a device that is compatible with Magisk, you can install this module I created and bring back the blobs on your phone!
I just use Tasker, it's just one command. Here's a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/IHb2XkA.png
Then create a profile with the event "Device Boot", and set it to execute your task. Super simple stuff.
Alternatively, if you're using Magisk, you could just install a module for it.
Unsure if anybody has already made a comment like this, but if not...
Any questions, feel free to ask below.
From topjohnwu...
>Install Magisk With ADB: No Custom Recovery Needed!
A lot of work were already done to make patching boot images in a non-root shell work properly, even the Magisk binary itself has added some functionality to support it. However, it wasn't fully tested, and the instructions never came out. Since the busybox environment started from v13.5, a consistent shell was established, so I took a bit more effort to finalize the way to manually inject magisk into a boot image. The method is added to the Installation section in the OP, people interested can check them out!
Note: This new installation method only works on the beta version v13.6, go to the URL https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/beta-magisk-v13-0-0980cb6-t3618589 beta thread for more info

The same way you flash any other phone with an unlocked bootloader.
You could easily do your own research, but here are the basic steps.
Download TWRP for your device, the Nexus 6P.
Download Magisk. Download Magisk Manager as well. Copy the Magisk zip and the Magisk Manager APK to your phone.
Download and install ADB on your PC.
Open file explorer and browse to the directory where you downloaded TWRP and Magisk.
Shift right click and open command prompt or PowerShell.
Boot your phone to the fastboot screen.
Connect your phone to your PC.
Type into the terminal on your PC: "fastboot devices". Check if your device is detected.
"fastboot flash recovery [TWRP image name].img"
Wait for your phone to completely finish flashing the recovery.
Boot into recovery. It should now be TWRP instead of stock.
Find the Magisk zip on your phone via TWRP. Flash it.
Clear cache.
Reboot. Give it some time for the first boot before declaring a boot loop.
Find the Magisk Manager APK on your phone. Install it.
Try an app that makes use of root permissions.
> If its not crap like this, its the practice of sabotaging phones so that they can't run newer editions of Android, by locking the boot loader and then never providing them.
Completely agree. These companies should be sued for trying to hold an Android monopoly with those locked bootloaders.
And you also have garbage like this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/safteynet-updated-t3637740
> The problem is the signature spoofing isn't something you can add and remove with a flashable zip
Actually, you <em>can</em> add and remove it with a flashable zip.
For root
https://download.lineageos.org/extras
But that is a system modification that trips SafetyNet and might very well kill your bank app
The other option is Magisk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
you can get yourself a custom recovery (I recommend TWRP) and flash it depending on your phone via fastboot/heimdall/odin (i believe that most of hard bricks of phones happens in this stage because users did some unthinkable wacky stuff with the software)
once you have a custom recovery, everything would be as simple as sliding and clicking a few buttons.
get magisk here and boot to recovery.
once booted to recovery, click install and find the .zip file you downloaded from XDA earlier and click it.
when it prompts you to install it, swipe the slider and wait until a reboot system button appears.
once you click "reboot system" your phone would most likely be rooted. check the magisk app to see if you're rooted or not.
BEWARE: Rooting can cause some apps on the Play Store to go missing like banking apps. this is due to the fact that Google has detected the presence of root in your system.
this is easily fixable,
add Google Play store and Google Play services into magisk hide.
go to Magisk settings and click "repackage magisk manager" this will download a "hidden" version of magisk manager and you have to wait for the app to finish
once reinstalled, install a magisk module titled "Magisk Hide Props config" and follow the instructions here: XDA Thread
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modification

Yes, I have it. The only way that works right now is by installing magisk, the sony framework module (found in the magisk downloads), the remote play enabler (found here), and the latest remote play APK (play store). To install magisk you need an unlocked bootloader (which wipes your phone and makes it somewhat less secure) and custom recovery.

Nice write-up! Wish I had one when I first flashed something.
Here's what you could do for systemless root:
8 . Install Magisk via ADB sideload
9 . Boot
10 . Install Magisk Manager via XDA Labs, enable Magisk Hide
11 . Do whatever you couldn't with normal root, like installing Netflix from Google Play and downloading content for offline viewing
Other comments:
Check your radio and bootloader versions, you might be able to skip that step. I already had the latest from OTA marshmallow
I never use sideload, but seems like that's be handy
Camera and Flashlight fix. Safety net is passed by using Magisk (then enabling Magisk Hide in the settings) and changing two build.prop lines (very easy). Latest LineageOS Nightly has the camera/flashlight fix, but not the build.prop safety net fix.

I first used AKT over a year ago on my US996 (only used as a WiFi/data device) on an older LineageOS-based Nougat ROM and then later on my daily driver LS997 on a stock-based Nougat ROM. Since I'm a light-to-moderate user and pretty much started my LS997 with AKT since day 1, I can't really tell how much this actually helps battery life compared to other tweaks. But I definitely see zero cons in having it installed. A while back, there was a short discussion on AKT by V20 users over at the XDA forums.
The setup is very simple: You just install the apk, pick SD820, then select a profile (several options based on battery, performance, and balance) and reboot. Keep in mind that this was released before Oreo existed, so I'm not sure how different it would be for that.
Additionally, another similar tweak worth looking at is the Magisk module called LKT. I actually switched from AKT to it on my LS997 a few months ago to test but couldn't see any difference in battery life.
Again, I think you'd have to be a heavy user to see a difference for these kinds of tweaks, but definitely check them out if you're rooted and curious. As always, make a TWRP Nandroid backup before you try.
I recommend to root, and if at somepoint they work it around you can unroot and you will be fine.

A couple of notes on root:
>it requires a customized SuperSU
First, the SuperSU links you referenced were not customized, they were likely just newer than at the youtube link you found.
Second, I HIGHLY recommend using Magisk instead of SuperSU.
I'm done. Flashed the image from O site and flashed a TWRP recovery ( https://twrp.me/devices/huaweinexus6p.html ) and the MagiskManager ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 ) annnd it is working!
For the HTC Desire 530, start here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-530.
Read the guides before doing anything. Follow instructions to the letter. In the rooting guide, it says to flash supersu, but if you're going to use magisk, flash the magisk .zip file instead. I've never used a Magisk ROM, but you can root using Magisk to use it's services with the Magisk app.
If you want to backup your apps+data, I'd use Titanium Backup. The pro version costs about $6.50 (forgot the exact amount). It's worth it. If you decide to install a new ROM, you can restore all the apps to where left off. But definitely do a backup of your phone using TWRP before you make any changes to it just in case something does go wrong. You can restore back to that point and start over again.
EDIT: The Magisk app is no longer available on Play Store, but it is available here: https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.topjohnwu.magisk. You can also download the Magisk .zip file here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445.
No. It's listed among the Known Unsupported Devices toward the bottom of the first post on the thread (just above the Donation section). While I tested this on my S5 G900M, I don't use that because of the loss of screen real-estate & the physical buttons work fine.
A mention of SuperSU, CF-Auto-Root (which contains SuperSU), or some form of those 2 has been detected. SuperSU used to be a trustworthy root program made by the developer Chainfire. However, awhile back he sold it to some unknown, foreign company named Coding Code Mobile Technology LLC. They claim to be in the US however that claim doesn't seem true. As Chainfire's involvement in the project is pretty much gone now, SuperSU can't really been trusted anyway. Because of this the community has put SuperSU aside in favor of other root programs such as Magisk.

viper conflicts with the dac (it processes the audio in software rather than letting the dac handle it, especially if you do this tweak to let the dac handle more audio.
That said, I also had a hard time with viper. But if you're using supersu, get that crap off and switch to magisk: among other advantages it has a super easy way to install viper4android and several other mods: modules, right inside the magisk manager app under the downloads section (the version of viper I used to use is the one with two authors).
To switch from supersu, first download the latest magisk release from the thread then open your SuperSU app and head to the Settings tab, then scroll down and select the "Full unroot" option. From here, tap "Continue" on the first popup, then SuperSU will ask if you'd like to restore your stock boot image — make sure to tap "Yes" here. Finally, it'll ask if you want to restore the stock recovery image, but you'll still need TWRP to flash Magisk, so tap "No." After a few seconds the phone will reboot.
Reboot into twrp ( hold vol down , hold power until the screen comes on, then tap the power button repeatedly (still holding volume down) until it asks if you want to factory reset, say yes twice) and flash that magisk zip (install, browse to where saved, usually internal storage/download, tap it, swipe to confirm flash)
As the other poster noted, you aren't missing very much at 1080p HD.
If you want to force 4K compatibility, you can do that using Magisk and Youtube Vanced.
After it is installed, open Youtube, tap the green account icon in the top right, tap Settings, and tap Vanced Settings. Under Video Settings inside the Vanced Settings menu, use the Resolution Checks override at the top. Under Misc you can optionally enable ExoPlayer V2 for better handling of 4K playback. After you are done, go back to the Settings menu (the one before Vanced Settings) and tap Refresh and Restart. That will load your settings enabling 4K playback.
Just flash a boot.img file that includes Magisk, you don't need the whole ROM.
You can do this from the Magisk Manager app. Of course, you'll need the boot.img file first from your current ROM. Once you have that, follow the installation instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Yes. Use Magisk. Install Magisk Manager and either patch the stock boot.img file and flash using fastboot
or boot into TWRP and flash the .zip.
Look up the XDA threat: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
You need to:
-unroot
-flash provided magisk zip from XDA and install magisk manager APK
Or using superSU:
-unroot
-log back in into snapchat
-backup appdata with titanium
root
restore appdata each time you logged out and want to "login" again
I highly recommend you to use LineageOS or Resurrection Remix.
Magisk works amazingly for me. It lets to bypass SafetyNET. It has a lot of neat other modules too.
Both LineageOS & Resurrection are on Android 7.1 currently.
Magisk's developer topjohnwu has said there is a fix coming. In the meantime, you can either use the fix shown here. Or you can install the Magisk Module I made which automatically implements the fix I mentioned above on boot.
Download the latest Magisk Manager apk from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Launch the app, then open the sidebar and choose install. Download the zip, flash it in recovery, then reboot. Once you're back in, open Magisk Manager again, go to settings, turn on Magisk Hide and a new option in the sidebar named Magisk Hide will appear. Tap on it, make sure Android Pay is selected, and also select Google Play if you want to be able to download Netflix and other apps that hide themselves if you have root.
You'll want Magisk, instead of Chainfire's SU. It has a built-in selective hider to bypass SafetyNet without disabling root for apps that actually request it (like AdAway). It also has module support.
Follow the bootloader unlocking process on the Axon 7 XDA forum, but replace the installation of SuperSU with Magisk.
I'm not sure of SafetyNet is on Mario run, but here is how to do it. 1. (OPTIONAL) Factory Reset/Flash Stock Rom (Recommended).
Flash UnSu in your recovery. Also, remove any traces of Xposed or SuHide.
Download Magisk V11. Flash it using TWRP or CWM.
(OPTIONAL) Flash SYSTEM (Normal) Xposed from his website, if you want Xposed.
Install Magisk Manager, then go to "Settings" and turn on "Magisk Hide". You may have to refresh the app to make PoGo show up. It will be greyed out automatically, btw. Also at this point, select SnapChat.
If you installed Xposed, download RootSwitch 1.3.3.2 (Or the latest version) and switch off Xposed. I'd recommend to setup all modules then turn it off.
Voila! Safetynet will pass green, use AndroidPay, PoGo, SC!

If you look in the magisk sda forums there are a bunch of workarounds (not involving installing magisk) but the main idea seems to be downgrading google play services and turning off data for it so it doesn't updat again. https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/discussion-google-pay-magisk-discussion-t3906703

For a start: CyanogenMod has stopped existing months ago, and has basically become LineageOS, so putting them one next to the other makes no sense.
Neither of them "uses Gapps" at all, because they are not even legally allowed to: they do not include them, and the user has to obtain them separately if they want them. It's perfectly possible to use a phone without them (I do so), but the vast majority of users do seem to want them.
That said, Google already locks the phones off, by model, but also by a complicated and proprietary set of criteria and checks known as SafetyNet, which are not at all easy to "spoof" (though it's possible, with the constant risk that the spoof will stop working: just browse through the Magisk forums to know).

Well the only realiable root method that does not break safetynet which is the system that checks for root and breaks android pay is Magisk. The installation is pretty straight forward if you have a custom recovery, but before installing make sure to uninstall the root addon from linageOS.
The best way to do this would be just wiping the phone and installing LinageOS again without installing the root addon and then flashing the Magisk zip file. Feel free to ask questions if you're confused :)
This thread may not be up to date, but it should be sufficient. Addendum for this guide:
You don't have to download the entire Android SDK package - adb and fastboot can be acquired here: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools.html; USB drivers can also be found here: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb.html
Recovery: ClockworkMod is history, use TWRP.
If you're going to immediatelly install a new ROM, you can skip the 3rd step ("Rooting") until you flash a new ROM
When rooting - SuperSU will do, but Magisk is also good alternative: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445 (just flash the zip file in recovery and that's it)
I wouldn't recommend using SuperSU. It's closed source and was recently sold off to an unknown Chinese company. No one knows what plans the new owners have in mind for SuperSU. That being said, it's closed source nature means we can't inspect it for bugs or exploits.
Thankfully superior options exists. If you're simply interested in root and nothing more, then you should just use the official LineageOS su, which is fully open source.
To get rid of SuperSU, simply wipe your /system partition and reflash your current ROM (no need to wipe your /data, you won't lose anything). Then immediately flash LineageOS Su or any other open-source alternatives.
Another option is Magisk - it's another open source su, but has a lot more features like hiding su from other apps/SafteyNet, modules support etc.
There is a module for it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/module-nanomod-5-0-20170405-microg-t3584928
But I am not using it, I am just staying up to date about what is happening in the ROM world, you will have to figure out installation for yourself
Follow LGs instructions for unlocking your bootloader (you will need to create an account)
Flash TWRP custom recovery. You can find the download and instructions for the h815 here
Using TWRP flash your preferred root method. I would suggest using Magisk for root, as it has the option to hide root from certain apps, that would otherwise refuse to run on rooted devices and it is systemless (doesn't modify the system partition), which means that you can still get system updates from LG after rooting.

Every phone with a Qualcomm SOC has a Qualcomm DAC built in and usually OEMs don't use it or of they do enable it's done poorly. I have a nextbit Robin and whenever I used my headphones there would be faint static in the background. This allowed me to turn on hi porformance mode of my Qualcomm DAC and fixed the issue.
For magisk, you want to flash TWRP, after typing "fastboot reboot" hold down the power and volume down button, enter recovery, then select "install", select the magisk zip file and install. Reboot device, search for magisk on your phone open and update it (it'll prompt you automatically) and you'll be good to go.
The steps are as followed:
Download Magisk, place it on you phone.
TWRP install (fast boot method, read all the instructions first after typing "fastboot reboot" immediately hold power and volume, select "recovery" to enter TWRP or it won't stay.
in TWRP select "install", choose your Magisk Zip File, once installed reboot your phone, search & open the Magisk App, follow the inapp instructions.
Finished!
If you want to go back to stock or anything, easiest method is the Nexus Root Toolkit. It's a one click method, but the rooting method you see there uses SuperSU which causes your phone to not work with apps not friendly to root (like snapchat or Android Pay). Other than that, The Nexus Root Toolkit is a great application, which I use all the time.
For root follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
If you want to be able to still use Android Pay, Pokemon Go, and freely login/out of snapchat (with normal root, Snapchat wont let you login unless you were already logged in before rooting), you need to use Magisk. So in the guide I linked above, replace SuperSU with Magisk from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
After all that is done, the guide for viper4android is here: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/install-viper4android-nougat/
Always make backups on your PC/Cloud before messing with anything (you will have to factory reset your phone anyway). I recommend using Helium Backup. Good luck!
Check out Magisk - if your device is compatible, it lets you retain root while hiding your rooted nature from apps like Pokémon Go and Android Pay.
Just don't be a dick and use it to cheat.

Some people simply use their bank's website portal in a browser as a workaround when the bank's app won't work.
