>u/WinterBee7297 - Is open gapps legal?
FWIW from https://opengapps.org/#aboutsection :
>...Take note that Open GApps does not provide you with any license for Google’s APKs included in the package. The Open GApps packages merely provide a convenient way to sideload APKs to your device. It is your own responsibility to obtain the proper permissions by e.g. buying an OHA-licensed device with pre-installed Google Apps and/or acquiring the applications from Google’s Play Store. > >The pre-built packages from OpenGApps.org are provided ONLY as courtesy by OpenGApps.org without warranty of ANY kind, under the terms that they can be freely used for personal use only, and are not allowed to be mirrored to the public other than OpenGApps.org.
Eu recomendo comprar um xiaomi a1 ou a2 no mercado livre, eles tão quase no mesmo preço pelo que pesquisei aqui e ambos vem com android one, sistema mais lean possível de fábrica.
Se vc for tech-savvy:
Quando receber ele, já faz o root, remover o bloat cheio de telemetria da google e instalar https://opengapps.org/, de preferência variante pico ou nano.
Importante baixar as atualizações do android ANTES de desbloquear o bootloader.
Instala f-droid e instala ad-away. Muita qualidade de vida e tua franquia de dados vai agradecer.
I use LineageOS, it has a great feature called "privacy guard". It allows you to control app permissions, but there some extra permissions, including "Run in background" and "Start on boot". Also it logs the last time an app used a specific permission. You can also make it prompt for your permission every time an app wants to access for example your camera. Since you use Pixel, i would highly recommend you to install LineageOS and if Google apps are necessary for you, use OpenGapps .
Also you can go to developer options, find "background processes limit" and set it to "no background processes". Keep in mind, this applies to all applications.
Btw, you can disable all permissions for uber. You would have to manually type in your location and you can pay with cash.
>Here's the question that I have I want to keep Google services because I need my Gmail and Skype as well as Google phone. Can I get the app store on lineage OS?
Yes, but you will need to install Gapps as well. You can either use OpenGapps or MindTheGapps. Use the arm64 Android 11 variant, and if you opt to use OpenGapps, use the Nano variant (Smaller Gapps = Less possibilities that something goes wrong). Installation of Gapps is covered in the installation instructions for your device.
>What other things do I need to look out for when I am changing over to an OS
LineageOS doesn't pass safetynet by default (IIRC this doesnt affect Pixel devices until Google stops providing software updates), which can break some apps (like Netflix, or banking apps). This can be fixed by using Magisk, and installing a few modules (Though Magisk is not supported on this subreddit).
So, Google has a thing baked into Android called Google Services, which uses Google's Firebase servers for telemetry and communication, including notification functionality, which is why it is very commonly used by Android app devs. If you still need some app functionality and an expected Android behavior, you can always install Open GApps on top of your custom ROM. I for example, have the most minimal version of GApps installed on my secondary $80 phone where I need to use Google Sheets for work since the app does not launch without Google Services.
Now, regarding the notification situation on a phone that doesn't have Google Services or GApps (like my primary phone running rooted LineageOS). In my experience, there is nothing to complain about. Many privacy-focused apps like Signal and Telegram use their own notification services, notification arrive perhaps 10-30 seconds late than with Google Services. With some other apps, the notification situation is different, but usually it is apps that don't give a damn about your privacy, like Instagram.
My suggestions to iOS users like you (which I was 1.5 years ago) is just get a cheap Xiaomi phone that LineageOS supports and start playing around with it. If you want something more serious and be more advanced security-wise than iOS on all fronts, then get a Google Pixel (as ironically as it sounds, but it is what it is) so you can install something like GrapheneOS.
> ..."well they're not where I linked them"...
FFS. From the post above https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/ntknlp/i_have_a_google_pixel_2xl_everything_is_factory_i/h0snlj9 :
>...For this, you can flash OpenGApps. https://opengapps.org/
> Yes. There are.
From the page you linked to:
>Android 11.0 state > >Right now SDK30 packages are in the final test stage. See the test builds...
Bolded by me.
Also no Android 11 packages @ the present in the page linked in the post I was replying to: https://opengapps.org/
Cry uncle & move on. ;-)
At the bottom of this OpenGapps page, it appears that certain devices are allowed to use Gapps because the original purchaser of the device paid for Gapps use because the license fee is built into the amount of money that the purchaser paid for the device:
"It is your own responsibility to obtain the proper permissions by e.g. buying an <strong>OHA</strong>-licensed device with pre-installed Google Apps ...".
https://opengapps.org/#aboutsection
So you are likely OK. If I'm mistaken, I'm sure someone will chime in soon.
Thank, this is exactly what I wanted to know.
It's not something to be flashed (like https://opengapps.org/) but a simple apk to install afer the flash of the ROM.
>I'm still using pixel xl and i see no other option if i want android updates right away and clean android experience.
Have you heard of RattlesnakeOS? It's a custom firmware specifically for Pixels that has monthly security / firmware updates as well as making GApps completely optional. There are also OpenGApps if you still want them on your phone.
OpenGApps (although, those might be for LineageOS)
Thanks for replyiing.Yes it's stuck after agreeying to update it, I get the three dots, a progress bar and the text "Systeem update installeren" in dutch (Installing system update).
I tried taking out my battery and then restarting mine. It didnt boot into android but into the same system update screen.
I installed lineageOS from a download from this page, https://download.lineageos.org/s5neolte
Having flashed it with the recovery image for the specific build too.
I also installed Gapps from here, choosing the right package from the options. https://opengapps.org/?api=10.0&variant=nano
https://opengapps.org/
All that is needed is finding out the version of android it uses. Most likely it's android 11 or 10 and somehow installing it with proper root access. I've seen someone get magisk working on android emulation for windows 11.
Well you need the right version of gapps for your device... Arm7a if it's old and armv8 if it's 64bit... I don't know what crdroid is either... Why don't you just Google opengapps? https://opengapps.org/
As you can read on Lineage website, gapps package must be sideloaded just right after the system installation. You can choose which package you prefer on the Opengapps website. When gapps installation will be completed you can reboot the phone and start the system for the first time.
You could try flashing openGAPPS TVstock I think that would get you the AndroidTV play store that way you can download the TV versions of apps easily and it may include Leanback launcher as well but I’m not sure
> Which is better in your opinion LineageOS or GrapheneOS?
LineageOS
> Can I still use the Google Play Store with LineageOS?
Yes, check https://opengapps.org/ and download the right version for your device
> Will I still have my camera, and photos storage?
Yes. Camera app will be the AOSP camera (vanilla Android version) but you might be able to install your manufacturer's original camera via sideload
> Will I have the same amount of Storage?
Possibly more, as LineageOS doesn't have as much bloatware
> What are the main differences between Lineage and Android?
Functionally none, LineageOS is a version of Android, just like the Android that your manufacturer installs.
> Will I have the same phone number and not need to change carriers?
Shouldn't need to change carriers, as it doesn't affect the phone's modem.
Non ho capito se non vuoi (per scelta) installare i servizi google o meno. Se non è questo il caso, scarica e installa le gapps da https://opengapps.org/ . Sdiscorso invece è che non vuoi
You can try Open Google Apps: https://opengapps.org/
You download it as a .zip
and you can flash it through a custom recovery like TWRP (requires unlocking the bootloader). This will downgrade your WideVine support though, so you get lower quality DRM videos (e.g. Netflix, Amazon). You might be able to do it via stock recovery, but I can't remember if that works. You might want to consider flashing a custom ROM if you're going down that route though.
Download gapps package from opengapps.org for x86_64. unzip it, find PrebuiltGmsCore.apk and copy it to /system/priv-apps/PrebuiltGmsCore/. It worked for me. But first remove other Gms packages before.
You can get the nano arm64 gapps (8.1 for LOS 15.1, and 9.0 for 16.0) from https://opengapps.org. Simply flash zip right after flashing the rom, with no reboot in between.
After flashing gapps, you can flash the latest Magisk zip, which you get here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
For Gcam, check your device's xda forum. People post the best gcam version for each phone there, normally.
To root: Download odin and samsung usb drivers & twrp from xda developers
Install the drivers on your windows pc
Go to download mode
Open odin and put the twrp file to bl mode
Plug your phone to the pc
Flash it
Turn on recovery mode to see if its installed
(if yes, boot into the os) (if no, try to install again)
(you should probably do a backup now in twrp on your sd card)
download magisk.zip from xda developers
flash it in twrp
turn on your os

If you dont play pogo/use google pay:
Xposed (it bypasses securenet), substratum and magisk
If you play pogo/use google pay
Magisk, substratum, Youtube vanced (from vanced.app/magisk), xda store, fdroid

Magisk is like jailbreak with cydia, Xposed is like Cydia, Substratum is an theme engine. Xda store and fdroid are app stores, xda has a lot of root apps. Vanced is youtube but with amoled theme, background play)
Not happy with the pictures? Install google camera (special version for your s9)
If you want to change your icons, download a launcher like nova launcher or lawnchair and install an icon pack from the play store

If you want an stock android look/faster phone install an custom rom like lineage os (plain rom but stable), ressurection remix (stock + a lot of customisable stuff), pixel experience (pixel experience)
If you are installing a custom rom,
do a system backup in twrp
format your phone (choose system and data in twrp)
flash your chosen system
flash gapps (from opengapps.org choose nano/pico, you'll install the ones you need later)
boot into the system
set it up
and install magisk (root if you want)

If you need help in anything else then i can probably tell you
Agreed. But like I said it's only one APK. https://opengapps.org/app/ the Google apps package! Then you can use as normal.
As for the US ruining the user experience I couldn't agree more. They say because Huawei spy's for the Chinese government? TWO WORDS...... EDWARD SNOWDEN.... the US government have been spying on global electronic communications for years.
Its OK for them to do it but not for the Chinese. Hypocrisy at its highest level if you ask me.
You have to flash GApps separately. iirc Custom ROMs can't have it bundled together due to licensing reasons imposed by Google. You can run LOS and other custom ROMs with or without it.
You can disable them. Though there are apps like Trebuchet (LOS Launcher) that you cant.
Depending on which OpenGapps variant you flash, it will replace the default apps with the Google corresponding ones.
>When installing a Google app that can replace a stock app, the stock app is automatically removed.
Ok, an old school user here. Been using since CM 11. I am going to give you some step by step instructions. Follow these & you shouldn't have any problem.
Use Magisk instead of SU add on. It is much more versatile. Also, if I were you, I would go for Open Gapps.
EDIT: These steps are all assuming, you have a working TWRP flashed onto your device.
LineageOS is great, but tends to lag behind major Android releases by about a year. The current stable version of LineageOS is 15.1, based on Oreo (8.1). OP has the original Pixel, which runs Pie (9.0). LineageOS 16.0 will be based on Pie, but right now it's still in the alpha stage.
As for Gapps on custom ROMs: https://opengapps.org
> 1) Can I still use and install apps from the play store ?
Yes, install OpenGapps during LineageOS installation (it's close to the end of the instructions on the wiki). Choose "ARM" and "Android 7.1" during download. Place the downloaded .zip file in the same place as the LineageOs zip before you start, and then flash it right after the LineageOs sytem one. This will give you the Play Store.
> 2) There are a few pre-installed apps from the LG OS that I like, mainly Visual Voicemail and Weather. Can I somehow use these ?
Are they available in the Play Store ? If yes, you may be able to just install them from there. Otherwise you'll have to find the APK for them somewhere.
> 3) When a Lineage OS update is available, do I need to go through the complete install process and loose all my data ?
No, just update in the settings or by tapping the "update available" notification. It will download the update and install it for you. You don't loose any data.
> 4) Do I need cellular service or data to get updates? I do not have a SIM card or service yet
No.
Regarding Edit 2: In TWRP, go to wipe -> Advanced wipe and wipe everything. On pc, go to https://opengapps.org/ select ARM64, 8.1 and "pico" (this pack has just the stuff you need for playstore) and download. Then connect phone to pc and put the latest los zip and the gapps zip you just downloaded on your phone, flash both without rebooting inbetween, voilà!
Rom - https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/development/rom-nitrogenos-t3551026
Gapps - https://opengapps.org/ Arm64, Micro
Always make a backup copy of the current Rom and data - just in case!
Downloaded the files, rebooted into TWRP, installed, rebooted (and waited - first boot takes a while).
You just download the version for your S5 model https://download.lineageos.org/
You put it in your phone then you go to twrp and choose "install update", choose the zip file you just downloaded and that's it.
However if you want to have google apps (google play, google maps, ...) then you also need to download and install opengapps https://opengapps.org/
It's installed in the same way, download the zip file and after you have installed lineage OS from TWRP u install opengapps at the same time!!!!
Opengapps won't install if you already booted into lineageos and configured it.
If you get any problem, we are here to help :D
It looks like you are using the wrong GAPPS. You need to use GAPPS for ARM64 since the chip in our phone is 64 bit.
Try downloading THIS one instead.
See the official install guide for starters:
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/bacon/install
If you have a Windows PC, Nexus Root Toolkit is excellent for this.
1) Use NRT to root the Nexus 4 and flash custom recovery image (TWRP)
2) Boot to TWRP recovery on the N4 and wipe all partitions, reboot back to recovery. Mostly we are rebooting just as a quick way to create a TWRP folder on the phone.
3) While in TWRP, connect to PC and copy latest Lineage rom and matching GApps (i use opengapps) to TWRP folder on phone
4) flash rom + gapps, clear dalvik cache, then reboot
Yes. When you plug it in to your computer, you'll get a notification showing the USB configuration; the default is charging. Click on it to set it to MTP to have it show up so you can access data on it.
I haven't had any issue with that.. did you install from https://opengapps.org ?
It zooms it in because you have multiple homescreens, and it's set for wallpaper scrolling. Which means when you move from one homescreen to the other the wallpaper scrolls with it a little bit. You can turn this off in settings.
I recommend flashing CyanogenMOD, which is the community driven rom. Download it from get.cm and Google Apps from opengapps.org . Flash both in twrp. If you want, you can download titanium backup before and back up what apps you want, this will also back up app data. Then you can restore after the flash.
Thank you u/hiltondk !
After downloading and installing the pilot, the command "fastboot devices" began to work, and I was able to flash the device.

For the record, I tried using the LineageOS and Gapps versions linked in the tutorial but encountered several problems : unable to connect to wifi, impossible to get past the set-up wizard, Gapps keep crashing...

I finally managed to get it working with those versions :
lineage-18.1-20210316-UNOFFICIAL-YTX703L.zip from Quallenauge
OpenGapps https://opengapps.org/ - ARM64, Android 11.0, pico.
You can install the services the same time and way you install Lineage - you adb them one after the other.
I think the "nano" version is what's recommended - as long as you've got, I think, Play Store and Services all the rest you can add in manually.
Ok 1. Root your device with kingo root. And install 2 apps = "z archive" and "flashify" 2.You need to a flash a recovery image. Find all the information here. https://tweakdroid.com/twrp/lenovo-a3500-a3500-hv-a3500hv/ 3. Copy the .img file and use flashify to flash it in to the device. Then you reboot to recovery mode. You will see a new screen. Just remember to enable usb debugging on developer menu. 4. Find a custom rom has ARMv7 support and find Google app packages. You can download Google app packages from here. https://opengapps.org/ 5. Reboot to recovery mode and find the os file in TWRP file manager and flash.
And if all gose well you will see the tab boot in to a new software.
Error can happen in this process just make sure you do your reading and research before the process.
Lucky us we Don't need computer for the this process just because we are working on an old software.
Here's the tutorial I followed to install the ROM I use on this tablet
Root may not work, installing SuperSU results in the tablet getting stuck on the LineageOS boot screen (at least on my case), Magisk not tested.
Works pretty well with this ROM, no bloatware at all.
Google Apps have to be installed separately, flash open gapps
Select ARM and Android 7.1, I recommend using nano or micro variants depending on your needs, if unsure choose aroma variant (the aroma variant includes a graphical installer for google apps which lets you choose what apps to install)
Yes and No. LineageOS is based off the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) that includes everything but the Proprietary Google Play Store and services. It is very clean, very fast, and runs very well on most devices, even older ones with limited resources.
Lineage OS doesn't directly support Google Services, but they are available and they work, lol. I think it's just a liability disclaimer.
Please do your own research about how this will affect your GMail account. Some do not play nicely, and my knowledge in this area is lacking.
You've got lots of package options: https://opengapps.org/?api=10.0&variant=nano
These are for LOS 17.1. I believe Nano is the most popular, however you may want Stock or Full as they will be more complete for your device. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages.
During the install (before your final reboot, if I remember correctly), you have an option to install one of man y Play Store & Google Services packages, which you have to find separately.
You can get more info here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps.html
Oh, one more thing - LineageOS does not include Google apps, such as the the Play Services apps and Google Play Store. Thus, you will need to flash OpenGapps after flashing LOS to get the Play Store. If you don't flash Gapps, you will find that you don't have the Play Store.
So first, flash the LineageOS zip. Then you will need to flash OpenGapps. You can get them here - https://opengapps.org/
The G5's Snapdragon 820 is an ARM64 SoC, so select ARM64, then select Android 11.0, and then select Pico. Then download the zip.
After you flash LOS and Gapps, I highly recommend you flash Magisk as well. If you don't flash Magisk, your phone will fail SafetyNet, which means banking apps and things like Netflix won't work.
For Magisk, just download the Magisk apk file here - https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk , and rename Magisk.apk to Magisk.zip. Then you can proceed to flash that zip as you did OpenGapps. After all three are flashed, you can reboot to system. Be advised that first boot will take a long time, so be patient.
Since APK sideloading is confirmed, all we'll need to do to get Google apps working is just wait for a compatible OpenGapps package that we can get installed, and then we'll be able to use the Play Store as normal
I've used it before with LineageOS. It's a way to get a certain selection of Google apps onto your phone along the installation of your ROM such as LineageOS. https://opengapps.org/
The apps themselves are not open, the method of retrieving them and having them as a package you can install in the bootloader is the open source part.
Why disable when you can just remove them 😂. I use a custom ROM and can at any point Ditch gapps (google apps) because for legal reasons you have to sideload google apps seperate from your ROM.
I only have google apps I use regularly Installed. Even stuff like duo etc can be removed and there are different gapps packages for custom ROMs with as little or as many google apps as you want .
I could even go with fdroid and micro g
No it's fine I'm not super techy either so I did the same thing! But yeah then I put Lineage, gapps, and magisk in my sd card so when I went into recovery I was able to easily flash everything from there
ALSO you have to use exactly the magisk version that is included in the Patreon for 17.1 bc I tried the newer one and it didn't work. And the gapps version in using is arm64 / 10.0 / pico
I just updated my One to
twrp-3.5.0_9-0-bacon.img (https://eu.dl.twrp.me/bacon/)
lineage-17.1-20210128-nightly-bacon-signed.zip (https://download.lineageos.org/bacon)
Open GApps - Arm, Android 10, pico (https://opengapps.org/)
in that order (inside of TWRP via its Install functionality) and I can confirm it works so far, no crashes of any apps, no error messages or resets of any kind, playstore does things as expected. Though I did skip the lineage nightly that seemingly caused your problem.
I read some time ago that installing bigger versions of GApps may also create problems with the One, though I don't know the details on that.
https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/7v49n9/installation_guide_for_lg_v521_device_is/
Good info there
Get arm (not arm64 even though your tablet is 64 bit) 7.0 stock, install it after the rooted rom. Then you have lg and Google.
As for instructions, do you have TWRP? If so, boot to TWRP (recovery) As you are coming from another ROM, do a full wipe and flash the ROM from the link above.
You are also going to want GAPPs for all the Google stuff. Grab that here https://opengapps.org/ Flash that after the OS and enjoy.
Carbon has a self updater and will keep itself upto date
I can help you get play store... You need to use OpenGapps: https://opengapps.org/
You will have to install manually... There are guides online, depending on your preferences for which level of apps you use.
I can share my steps, but you'll need root to install gapps.
After downloading, did you check if the MD5 sum of the archive matches the checksums published on https://opengapps.org? Maybe something goes wrong while downloading.
Yeah, i had the same issue. It turns out you have to update your GAPPS. You can download it here. https://opengapps.org/ make sure you download for android 10. I downloaded aroma because it gives you a menu with the option to remove other apps. Enjoy !
Here is the reality. A lot or most Google stuff won't work via the Google App system. You can access Google stuff via a browser, use Bromite as it's degoogled Chromium (Chrome). But functionality will be limited. Example: Maps, GPS will not work unless your have Google Play Services running. Any type of push notification that relies on play services will not go through. A lot of apps don't need it, but just saying. AOSP is very bare bones but very usable, and I have no complaints as everything I need works flawlessly. If you plan to degoogle, then F-Droid should be your only app store. Otherwise, just stick to your Google enabled device. There are some sacrifices to be made or you flash: https://opengapps.org/
Cheers.
f-droid + aurora store will do everything you need.
There's also opengaps.
Yes, i downloaded the official version on the site, and i have the latest official TWRP. I flashed Lineage OS first, and then, the Gapps from here, i selected arm, Android 10 and nano.
Before I had the 2020-10-09 update, and I updated it to 2020-10-16 and deleted all my data. Then I got the update 2020-10-23, I want to update it, but I'm afraid that it will delete everything like last time and that's it, that's all.
I thought to download the zip and flash it in TWRP instead of updating it in the System settings, but I think that would be too risky...
Unofficial means that the device is not officially maintained by someone and isn't listed on lineageos.org
I have no idea if it will become official or not.
No until someone decides to make builds for this device and become a maintainer
Your current os will get deleted and replaced by Lineage. No dual-boot
Gapps is the package you need if you want to use Google Services (like playstore, chrome youtube etc.). You should use the ARM - 7.1 - Nano for your device. https://opengapps.org/
Sometimes you need to root the device sometimes you don't. It depends on the device.
just download your apps from apkpure.com or for google playstore try gapps https://opengapps.org/
download the right one according to you cpu architecture and android version
No, I have the SM-N900 version (it was sold in the Middle East).
If you are new to this read this first: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-custom-rom-android/
In broad steps, what you have to do is: - find your exact model in the about section of your phone (N9000 / N9002 / N9005 etc.) - find a custom rom for your model - download the archive of that rom to you phone or sd card - download the archive of Gapps (https://opengapps.org/ - ARM / x86 for note 3 if I remember correctly) - backup everything! (Photos, videos, WhatsApp, contacts etc.) - restart into recovery mode (depending on your model you would have to install Clockwork Recovery on your phone: https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-clockworkmod/ ) - wipe cache / dalvik cache - install the rom archive - install gapps archive - wipe again - restart and you should have a new phone
I found links in your comment that were not hyperlinked:
I did the honors for you.

I NEED gesture typing so I cheat. I use Lineage for microg with the android AOSP keyboard. If you install gapps the AOSP keyboard has very good swipe typing, but without gapps the option is missing. So I use a google library file to enable swipe typing.
I do the following:
Download gapps from https://opengapps.org/ . Download the pico, smallest version. Choose the correct version for you, ARM64, android 9/10.
Extract the zip, look for the directory called "Optional" and inside there should be a file called "swypelibs-lib-arm.tar.lz" (or something like that). Extract swypelibs-lib-arm.tar.lz and inside is a file called libjni_latinimegoogle.so.
Copy it to my phone, and using Ghost Commander I copy it to /system/lib64. Make sure to make the ownership and permissions right, root:root, 644 or rw-r--r--.
Reboot phone, enable gesture typing in AOSP keyboard and voila! Best gesture keyboard I've ever used.
Oops! It's kind of an old thread. Use opengapps. https://opengapps.org/ Just click your cpu arch (probably ARM) then the android version of the ROM, and then select piko. It will give you the bare nessisities for gms to work, without bogging down your device too much. OH, also, don't use chanfire's supersu. It was sold to another company and may be more sketchy now. Use magisk. https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
Yep, the OpenGApps project. https://opengapps.org/#aboutsection
Like emulators and some other programs of questionable legality, the project "assumes" you have permission to use the Google Play Services on your device when you install the package.
Exactly! Do a backup, and download first your phone's stock ROM for openeu software channel, you may need it.
You must have developer options turned on, and check the OEM Unlock and the USB Debugging.
If your phone is treble supported, you can check the Project Treble ROMs
Steps are: 1. Unlock bootloader using motorola's guide(this VOIDS the warranty, and also wipes your data)
flash TWRP through fastboot with a guide from XDA, probably also a SYSTEM ENCRYPTYON DISABLER file with TWRP.(That's important, you may brick your phone without this)And then boot into system!
Download a custom ROM and flash it, flash OpenGapps(some ROMs have them included), wipe cache&dalvik, and boot into system. There is Pixel Experience, LineageOS, crDroid.
You're done! You have android Q! Enjoy!
If something happens download LMSA, a official tool from Lenovo, that owns motorola, and use the repair tool.
If you don't have any experience, try to learn the easiest way and read a lot, not like me, almost bricking my brother's or my cousin's S9+!
Links: TWRP : https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603868607 XDA ROMs hub : https://forum.xda-developers.com/motorola-one/development OpenGapps : https://opengapps.org/ (i recommend nano pack)
Nah :'( I've installed OpenGApps! which is basically the Google Services Framework :| I'll clean flash soon! But this time with minmicroG Standard! and see how it goes!
Typing how to do it in a whole comment will be long but here are some things you should know about sonys.
You need to unlock the bootloader or the process will fail. Just search up on youtube how to unlock bootloader
Then u need to get a program called adb which again you can serach how to download the drivers and the program itself
Then download the team win recovery project for sony z1 (make sure you get the .img one)
Then get the rom i suggest linege os i will link it right here https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/rom-lineageos-16-0-xperia-z1-t3882783/amp/
And u will need gapps to download the playstore https://opengapps.org click arm android 9 and nano
And thats basically it if ur still confused u can dm me on whatever u have or look at some videos of what to do
Well if you need the push services you need either the official play services or the https://opengapps.org/
Signal works perfectly fine without any play services installed but it will then have this "Background service: established" running with an icon in the toplist. Note that you must remove Signal from being "battery optimized" for this to fully work.
i fixed this issue thanks a lot! can you please help me?
https://opengapps.org/?api=10&variant=nano
i know arm64 is to be installed but now should i get the aroma variant or the super variant?
to install the gapps you go to --> https://opengapps.org/ download the pico android 10, then you copy the file to the S4, start the recovery and intall the gapps the same way you install the rom and restart.
Hey, that's great!
Probably the best place to start is to run the OEM updater, to make sure that all of the components are at their latest release.
Once you've done that, the Lineage OS installation page for the S4 is really comprehensive in what you need to do to get it on there.
Pay special attention to the steps dealing with the google apps (GAPPS), as without them you won't have any of the google special sauce that lets you (for example) restore a cloud backup. You can find them here and you'll want the ARM > 10.0 > pico one.
Personally, i'm not really a fan of the recovery they built since it's really limiting compared to TWRP, but for just getting the phone up and running it will work no problem.
Once you've done all of that your 7 year old phone will be running android 10, and pretty nicely too.
Do note, as i've said, that this is a very new release so expect some weirdness. But the upside is that it's being refined with daily updates.
I don't know honestly. I spend most my time on the PC, and I pretty much only use my phone in bed, but it takes me like 2-3 days to hit 15%~ battery usage. Shitty measurement, I know.
I don't see your issue with google apps. LineageOS doesn't come with google maps, but you can download most of them from https://opengapps.org/, and then download the remaining from the play store.
Yes wipe it out and do it over. Make sure your getting the smallest gapps package pico the bare minimum for play store.
Arm 32bit pico https://opengapps.org
Then only install the root app deleter assistive touch and gboard and see how it works.
Which developers are you getting your root app deleter and Assistive touch from??
You disabled the camera right?? On mine they kept popping up like I pressed the button when I didn’t.
I tried a button remapper and it kind of worked but not really so I just disabled the camera and the button.
Once you get comfortable with that and you start installing the other apps look at the running services and how much ram it uses and manage that and you should be fine.
Also beware of overheating, I had one overheat real bad and now it won’t turn on it boot loops and is never recognized by the computer can’t force it in recovery or bootloader mode.
Yea you have some version 1 or 2
Version 2 made it so you could use different frames
Version 3 is the one with the 2gb ram they sell really high not worth it really
Version 4 is enterprise 1
Version 5 is enterprise 2
Thank you for your answer.
>I've seen that Lineage OS v16 for the Pocophone is a nightly build. Could it be something related to LOS?
Every build is just a nightly build, that's how they do it. It also happened on all previous versions, so it doesn't seem to be a random bug.
>I assume that tou have installed the app from Google Play Store and you have google services installed, as that's how the app gets notifications.
Yes, and I installed the stock package from https://opengapps.org/. It should contain everything that is required to run all Google services.
I think MicroG can't be used to connect Prime.
Up to date Google play service is needed to connect Prime, so the easiest way should be to install Open Gapps on your Rom, and cross your fingers so that she is not blacklisted by Niantic...
> Nice PSA...
Thanks.
>...Thankfully I don't update my OpenGApps very often.
If you loggin a Google account most of the core GApps update themselves AFAIK.
For example Play Store will update itself even if you have auto-update apps disabled in it's settings.
In https://opengapps.org/ you can select your current Open GApps package name & Android version & click on the Version Information link in the bottom of the page & compare the versions of the different items with what is currently in your device's App info.
So it's not necessary to update Open GApps.
>u/forgotaltpwatwork - Galaxy S5 (SM-G900T) -- "successful" install, boot animation goes to TWRP ...TWRP insists that the nightly build, the GApps, and the SU were successfully installed. Each and every time.
What are the exact names of the LineageOS (most recent you tried) & Open GApps files that you flashed please?
As you can see on this page & the following in in the Open GApps XDA support thread there is a problem with Open GApps Android 9.0 Builds 2020-01-22 or newer.
The workaround @ the present is to use build 2020-01-17 or older.
You can get older releases here: https://opengapps.org/ >>> Older Releases link in the bottom of that page.
Please confirm if it works for you or not.
Bugs may be created by a merged patch in a given build date for a given device & solved in an other build so that's why the build date is an important troubleshooting info.
>u/sandeshgaikwad65 - in zuk z1 install lineageos 16 with gapps mobile get system boot and then after 10 to 15 minutes it reverte boot into twrp how to fixed it ,,,without gapps it works well and boot int system without any problem i also try pico gapps but not fixed
What is the exact names of the LineageOS & Open GApps you are flashing please?
Did you flash both LineageOS + GApps in one go without booting to System in between because of the necessary hooks between LineageOS & GApps + system & privileged apps permissions?
Some users, including me, reported fail to boot in LineageOS 16.0+ & Android 9.0+ if you select install the TWRP app when asked in TWRP. That app is fluff, wants to start at boot, run in the background, collect data & is not necessary anyway because the TWRP updates are not frequent & it's easy enough to update manually.
So go to TWRP > Settings > General and disable: Prompt to install TWRP app if not installed.
Two users in this page of the Open GApps XDA support thread: Open GApps for Android; All Android Versions & Devices reported failed to boot with build 2020-01-22 & success with build 2020-01-17.
You can get older releases here: https://opengapps.org/ >>> Older Releases link in the bottom of that page.
Please confirm if it works for you or not.
I noticed in your Reddit profile created today that you have only 1 post & zero comments @ the present. Are you one of those throwaway people that will delete this thread & destroy our posts? (>_<)
● See if official lineage OS (r/lineageOS) is available for your particular device. Flash it if there is. Then you can flash microg (see r/microg for more info). If you don't like much hassle you can flash pico version of Gapps (google apps) from the website (https://opengapps.org/)
● Use Firefox browser with uBlock Orogin, Decentraleyes, etc add-ons.
● Read r/privacy wiki to know more because it's an extensive list.
Just install the gapps packages with Lineage. I've done this in the past and it works just fine. Don't go with pico or nano unless you absolutely have to for some reason, it's too reduced.
Which package did you try to install? Which GApps did you use MindTheGapps/OpenGApps?
It's always good practice to include your current LineageOS build and your setup (rooted, etc.) since the more infos you provide the more people are willing to help respectively are able to help you.
Try to install the pico package which contains just the bare minimum to require Google framework dependent apps to run. Make sure you select the correct android version and platform from the Open GApps site.
I have some Enterprise Edition 2 they are basically Explorer Editions with upgraded hardware, and the custom AOSP 5.1.1 from,
https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-glass/development/rom-aosp-google-glass-t3356234.
Once you install this rom you cannot pair it with the phone anymore or use the My Glass app anyway.
But you can install the Clockworkmod custom recovery from, https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782016
and get Gapps and adb sideload it from, https://opengapps.org/ (ARM>5.1>Pico)
Then you can show pointer location/touches,
connect to wifi on the device itself,
sign in to google play,
then go to a computer and install apps remotely from google play,
the first ones you should get is assistive touch 13 to act as a home button, and gboard you can adjust the preferences to make it way easier to type on the device itself, it's near impossible to use if you don't do this you will have to restart the device after every step until you get the back button.
Oh and the GG2 are exactly the same as the above, no app to pair with your phone for notifications and such, but you have a back, home, and recent at the bottom by default, then the worse part is the app situation you cannot get Gapps so you have to sideload all your apps through adb, and you can't install anything that needs google services to run. No root, no custom recovery, no flashing .zips or roms.
> Link to latest working gapps
Currently what is available is build 27 November 2019 but it does not matter because after logging in your Google account it will update most of it's parts itself if necessary.
OpenGapps Project website: https://opengapps.org/ (they still have x86-64 Android 9 installer)
I think that going to BlissOS debug mode and running installer script would work, but you need to make /system writable (extract system.sfs and get system.img, and let BlissOS boot with it) and let mount /system r/w in terminal (press Alt+F1 when you are in GUI mode should get the terminal, and "mount -o rw,remount /system" in it).
It is recommended to backup system.img before you modified something.
P.S. It would not work that run OpenGapps installer script in non-Android environments, because the script runs with binaries existing only in (rooted) Android.
If you want to install it in a simpler way, you can try something like "Gapps Installer". But I would not recommend this way because it would have some privacy issues. Therefore, if you want to use it, you can create another account for that.
Instead, if you want a safer way, you can use "microG uninstaller" and then apply OpenGapps'zip to get it. (Sence Android x86 doesn't come with recovery like TWRP, you need to manual "flash" it. (First, make your /system r/w. Second, extract the OpenGapps zip file in root or somewhere convenient. Third, manually start the installer script. After reboot, it would work.)
If you don't want to do those difficult things, you can just use v10.1 beta versions which already include Gapps.
You can sideload it but there still some other required apps that you would be missing.
Look into gapps (ext link: https://opengapps.org/ ) -- pure aosp roms make use of this when they need play store support.
> You should really verify a checksum.
That right. I had several Open GApps downloads corrupted a while ago.
>The best checksum is sha256.
As you can see here Open GApps only publishes MD5 checksum for each downloads @ the present but that's good enough to check if the download is corrupted or not: https://opengapps.org/
>This is easily done with busybox, even on windows.
There are some standalone Hash check utilities for Windows in it's Store but it's also very easy to add Hash check to the context menu with a simple reg mod: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/78681-add-file-hash-context-menu-windows-8-10-a.html
Works great on my Windows 10 laptop.
What you need to do is find out what VERSION of Android your device is using. Look in your settings under "System" and usually "About Device" and then look under version. Also do you have "install apps from unknown sources" enabled? In newer versions this works through permissions IIRC. That may be the issue.
Try getting the install from here https://opengapps.org/ I think the "Pico" package is just the Google Play Store, but look that up on your own.
> lineageos isn't trying to degooglr android. Lineageos4microg is just patches to make microg work with lineages.
Now you're talking out of your ass. LineageOS does not ship with any Google components. If you want Play Store functionality, you have to flash Google apps separately via OpenGApps or similar, but that's on you to do by yourself. Read the description of the project and get a clue.
I'm not sure I can install it for you, but it should be pretty straightforward... How have you been installing it? (Lineage OS version, GApps version, what recovery, etc.)
Usually when I setup my phone, this is what I do in TWRP: - Factory reset, wiping everything - Install Lineage OS - Install Open GApps - Reboot
https://opengapps.org/ OnePlus 6T is ARM64
Grab the nano package from https://opengapps.org
I had to install lineage os then boot straight into download mode then fastboot boot twrp into read only mode & install gapps.
This will install the play store and a few other behind the scene bits so you don't have Google junk installed to your system. Then any Google apps like messages, calanader, clock, ect you can download from play store and disable lineage OS ASOP/OEM equivalent app.
You're going to need to find an archive of the official build yourself.
You can search this sub for "archive".
For question one, you seem confused. You're confusing the ROM and GApps archives. You're still going to need to find a build for your device yourself, GApps you can find at the project website.
For your second point, I think you're getting vastly ahead of yourself. You've no business beginning this process without the appropriate files with which to do so.
Toolkits are stupid, learn fastboot commands and how to use TWRP. You'll never need a gimmick toolkit again and can easily backup/restore using TWRP. Pretty much the only commands you'll need are "fastboot oem unlock" to unlock the bootloader (this WIPES the phone) and "fastboot flash recovery TWRPFILENAMEGOESHERE" then reboot to recovery and you'll be in TWRP. You can use an ADB command from a powered on state to initially boot into fastboot mode or you can just use a hardware key combination from powered off state.

The ROM doesn't really do much for performance, battery life or overheating. Kernel is where all that derives from. I would just recommend SiX ROM Oreo (I think this is the latest build but not sure) https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=818222786056029668 and call it a day. Rock solid, feature packed ROM with a good inbuilt kernel. Just flash the ROM, Gapps (Oreo based 32 bit from Opengapps.org), and Magisk and you'll be golden.
There's also open gapps
Though, the legalities of that, or whether the user is able to flash to the system partition, idk.
This is the first time I've heard that Huawei was making their own platform
This is the easy way to get your repo deleted. GitHub already issued warnings to biggest offenders (like OpenGapps) - https://opengapps.org/blog/post/2019/02/17/github-situation/
Doing things like this will only push GitHub to reduce the quotas and create more and more rules... They are not a free cdn...
Which ones in particular? It might be possible that those are some of the google apps you might have flashed after you flashed Lineage, in which case you might want to take a look at this
here https://opengapps.org u should choose platform:arm android:7.1 dont see an issue in what u did when folowing that guide, u chosed android 8 gaps for android 8 rom so... it should work, also u can flash the rom first, boot to it to see if it works and then reboot to twrp and flash gapps aditionaly :)
I have a SM-G900F and installed lineage-16.0-20190302-nightly-klte-signed.zip with open_gapps-arm-9.0-pico-20190302.zip and addonsu-15.1-arm-signed.zip.
