The easiest way is to use Nexus Root Toolkit. Just gotta follow the instructions it gives to setup then click Root and that's pretty much that.
To get 4G you just gotta pick flash zip file and choose this file https://mega.nz/#!NAgxRASS!BbR6727AcHGg0arubKgql9uK6WjCeZYB_aWX_R5aoXI (hybrid radio file)
I've installed almost all camera app, you name it I have it, and the best one would be snap camera hdr without a doubt. The best in term of picture quality and faster than google camera shutter speed. It have the old jellybean swipe up to access settings which is a pain to use but the image quality just is better than others. You can even change the UI to material design in the settings

Agreed, the best source of 'news' for me so far has been an XDA thread.
A user there by the name of smadger has kindly put together a TL:DR
You'll need this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LG-Google-Nexus-4-E960-LCD-Touch-Digitizer-Screen-Assembly-Housing-Frame-OEM-/370981765197
It's the whole front frame, so you don't have to bother with replacing the screen only (which highly recommend not to do).
Look up for a guide on YouTube. You'll need to move every part of your phone from your cracked screen to the new one. It's not a complicated procedure, but be careful with removing the battery. I cut the antenna cable while removing it, so I had to replace that as well.
Also, the package does not come with the tools required.
Here is a teardown, which helped me: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+4+Teardown/11781. It also says which tools you need.
Make a backup and save it to your computer (or the cloud).
Use Nexus Root Toolkit to flash stock
Then use Nexus Root Toolkit again to unlock and root.
Restore from backup

Signed up for Parcel Motel, there's a delivery station in Roscommon town. Used TunnelBear to pretend I was in the UK and added my Parcel Motel Northern Ireland address, and added a new Credit card, same number, but with Parcel Motel Northern Ireland address. The phone shipped at 5PM on Wednesday and I got the text to pick it up on Saturday morning.
Not sure if they're compatible with CM13 but HellsCore, Quanta and Taurus kernel all have the ability to enable DT2W. You'll need a kernel tweak app to enable it, normally the dev will suggest one.
I'm using Kernel Aduitor with HellsCore.
I haven't tried the other ROMs but what I gather, Dmitry is pure AOSP, Frank is almost 'stock' with various updates and fixes since Dmitry posted his initial release (Doze enabled, for example), MinimalOS is custom but with very minimal set of features (hence the name), and Cataclysm is a full featured custom ROM based on the N5 factory image (Google apps included, Dialer, Contacts, Backup, Webview, DRM and other Google shared libraries, sounds, animations, Doze, etc)
Google's OTA updates make changes to system, kernel, and perhaps userdata as well, but I'm not too familiar with the specifics.
Pushbullet has external notifications, you can subscribe to channels and get updates on various topics. I haven't actually used it myself, though.
Set your max number of recent items, how many days items are kept, and choose if settings pages or search results should be listed.
I had the same concern when the lollipop update came out. The only solution I could think of was using Toggle Network Type 5.0 and Tasker. I've made a tasker profile which shifts the network to 2G when the screen is off and to 3G when I open certain apps. (Basically similar functionality to that of intelli3G)
Haha yes greenify! Instead of BootManager, I used the AppOps app to manage what runs at startup. This also lets you deny specific permissions to specific apps, so now I don't have my GPS turn on every time I open up Snapchat :)
Have you thought about writing an email to Dan Cobley at Google UK and complain about your appalling experience? I'm sure he has responded to complaints in the past.
FYI, rumors say X Phone will be $199 off contract. I'm sure most blogs and news sources are using the same "anonymous source" for this rumor, so I'll just link to one source of that rumor [here](http://techcrunch.com/2013/03/15/new-googlemotorola-x-phone-rumors-point-to-multiple-models-and-aggressive-price-tags/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Techcrunch+(TechCrunch).
The phone will function fully even if you don't add your google account, however, you won't be able to install apps from the playstore. There are alternative markets like the amazon appstore available. You may also be able to install apps from APKMirror but any third party site beyond that is potentially unsafe.
Well, my goal is slightly different than yours (I want to always have data and always call over SIP) so I've been working at things a bit differently than what you want.
I understand that Sipdroid has some way of taking priority over GSM calls, but I don't see anything similar in CSipSimple's options (you can set it for Outgoing Only, which will cause it to never ring the SIP on incoming, though.) And there's a bug from 2010 that describes the same problem, but it's, well, marked as fixed. So maybe this is something recent with JellyBean that's broken it again.
However, off the top of my head, I would say first things first, install the latest Nightly APK (link will always point to the latest nightly compile, so it will stay up to day for the people reading this in the future) That might solve the problem right there. If not, create a bug entry for it and/or at and see what the dev team replies with.
EDIT: Oh! If you have very predictable hours when you will be at certain places (home and work) you could always set a custom ring schedule on the GSM line so that it won't ring it as a temporary workaround.
I'm really hoping somebody can chime in with a better answer than that, though; I'd like to know too. I really dislike SipDroid's interface/integration so I'd like something really seemless with CSipSimple and incoming GSM.
There's this guide posted 2 months ago which I used to root and flash my device.
Most people use either Chroma or MinimalOS, though I'm not sure what the pros and cons of either are.
To backup photos you'll either need to manually copy and paste them via a PC or do a cloud back up to the service of your choice (Google Photos is good).
To back up SMS this app is good and lets you cloud backup to a variety of services.
The only way to gain space without deleting files and apps is using this app (root & busybox required)
Updated google apps are stored in /data partiton (and the old version in /system) this app will move them to the /system partition overighting the old apps.
Gizmodo just published an article about batteries. If you scroll down to Lithium Ion batteries it tells you how to "use" them correctly.
http://gizmodo.com/5952938/everything-you-need-to-know-about-batteries
I just found this on accident. http://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-a7000/
"The latest mobile to offer smartphone tech on a modest budget is Lenovo's A7000, a 5.5-inch phone that will cost $169 " "Despite its relatively low cost, the A7000 packs some hefty hardware. There's a 5.5-inch display, plus a MediaTek octa-core processor and 4G LTE, for speedier mobile data. It has an 8-megapixel camera on the back, while a 5-megapixel front-facing camera means video calling is very much on the cards."
The thing that's special about the Nexus 4 is that it does "Dual Channel" HSPA+, ( DC-HSPA+), which is kind of a new thing in the smartphone market. In theory, it is twice as fast as regular HSPA+.
If you are getting the little "H" in your status bar (up top), then you've got HSPA+. It's kinda hard to tell if you're getting DC-HSPA+ just by looking directly at your phone, though. I guess if your speedtests are twice as fast as they were on your iPhone, that would be a good clue, but there's so many other variables that can affect a speed test...it's hard to be sure.
One thing you can do is look at your carrier's coverage map. Here's mine for example:
http://www.virginmobile.ca/en/support/longdistance.html
Notice the areas where it says "HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps"? That's the areas were I can only get HSPA+ coverage. The areas where it says "HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps" are areas where I can get DC-HSPA+.
Of course, if you are in Canada, you might as well get an LTE enabled SIM from your carrier and turn on the LTE radio instead. It's quite a bit faster than DC-HSPA+, at least where I live.
When I first flashed the official 5.1.1 ROM the battery life was atrocious, I was having to charge it about twice a day with less than 1hr screen on time. This seems to be what was causing my problem. This xposed module solved the battery drain for me.
Today My Nexus 4 has been on for 12hrs with around 2hrs screen on time and the battery is down to 45%. If I'm mainly on WiFi the battery can last around 2days, more depending on the screen on time. I'm pretty pleased with that for a 3 year old battery.
I replaced it myself and I wouldn't consider myself a pro at all. I used this site for instructions: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-replace-the-nexus-4-battery-it-can-be-done-android/. It actually took me a few goes before I gathered up the courage to lodge the back off, it takes quite a bit of force. They recommend heating it to melt the glue, I just ripped it out and it's fine. A guitar pick is highly recommended!
I can think of two methods of wiping a dead phone, neither would be easy or helpful for you though, first one is de-solder and swap the flash chip, the other one is the smash-with-hammer method.
Alternatively you could sell parts of the phone instead?
How long did you hold the power button down? Nexus 4 hard reset should occur if power button is held down for 10 seconds. If that doesn't work, try holding down power + vol down.
http://www.hard-reset.com/lg-nexus-4-hard-reset.html
If that doesn't work, you can take it apart and remove the battery.
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nexus+4+Battery+Replacement/13039
The only downside is that the wireless charging pad and NFC is attached to the back side as you can see here and it will definitely increase the cost of a replacement back. Although it does seem like it would be simple enough to replace. Just take out the two screws on the bottom and pry off the back. Taken from ifixit
I guess so. In the ifixit teardown of the Nexus 4 you can see that the bottom half of the phone is pretty much only the battery. All the chips and the quad core processor (which I suppose is the thing that's getting hot) are in the region of the camera on the top half of the phone.
If you want to see what the phone looks like inside, iFixIt has a good teardown. I don't know that tracking down exactly which component or engineering decision is responsible for an extra millimeter or two will prove very interesting, though, so you'll probably be on your own. I've never really come across anyone who has done much of this sort of analysis before.
DS Battery Saver saved a lot of battery for me since my signal strength isn't that good when i'm in school and I don't have access to a wifi network at the time.
My Nexus 4 is about a year old and I can get 5 hours of screen on time with a single charge. Try putting your phone in Airplane Mode for a few hours and see if the battery lasts longer. If it does, then it would likely be a misbehaving app or possible a cell radio. Greenify now partially works for non-rooted devices and is definitely worth a try if you can find out which apps to hibernate (which is more difficult without root).
There are guides on XDA and anywhere if you search how to root device (in this case N4). Same goes for Recovery. Usually you would TWRP, then root. Since it usually takes a custom recovery to flash the supersu.zip.
But you already flash a custom recovery, unless you went back to stock android. Then just redo the custom recovery.
If you really need to know how to flash a custom recovery
"On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot bootloader
You should now be in fastboot mode. Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your adb and fastboot binaries. Rename the image to twrp.img and type:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot"
( https://twrp.me/devices/lgnexus4.html , "Fastboot Install Method (No Root Required):")
If you don't need NFC for charging or communication, you may look into getting a wood back here. They're not "cheap" as say glass backs from amazon but they are much more spiffy. That said, you won't have glass covering your flash/camera so that may be a deal breaker.
If my glass backing ever breaks, I'll personally be looking @ a wood replacement...
I'd recommend the Quanta Kernel for the N4. There's an app available to let you easily tweak everything under the hood.

I ordered the Oneplus One about a year ago and I RMA'd it after a week for a few reasons. Here's a list of things I didn't like about the Oneplus One.
The size: It was just too big for one handed usage. Nexus 4 just happens to have the perfect size for me and my everyday use. My next phone's screen size will definitely be 5-5.2 inch at max.
The shape: The OPO has sharper edges than the well rounded Nexus 4 and therefore feels worse in my opinion. I noticed the corners a lot.
Speaker position: Not saying speakers on the back are better but I didn't like them on the bottom either. I sometimes watch videos and play games in landscape mode and would accidentally block the sound with the way I am holding the device.
Vibration: The vibration doesn't feel as 'premium' as on the Nexus 4. Feels kind of cheap and I immediately noticed it when I first booted up the OPO.
Screen tearing/microstutters: Scrolling felt completely different, not smooth at all. I thought it might be kernel related but I flashed cm11 and locked the CPU and GPU clock to the maximum and it didn't help .After a while I found out why: The display has 63hz but the system refresh rate is locked at 60. This leads to micro stutters which are unbearable IMHO. Put the devices next to each other, download this app and swipe around in it and you will see what I mean.
If you can connive the drawbacks - keep it If not - get a small power bank and never worry about battery life again
Hopefully this helped you make you your mind. :-)
I had this problem happen a long time ago. I never really fixed it (went back to stock after having it rooted and still didn't work) so I looked for other solutions. For transferring pretty much any file on my phone (music, pictures, etc) I've been using airdroid. It's wireless so it should work for you. I think it tells you to download a program for your desktop but simply putting web.airdroid.com works as long as you have airdroid on your phone.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid
Please use BetterBatteryStats to get the details of your battery drain. It's such a useful app for those with root access to be able to figure out exactly what's going on with the battery usage. No more guessing :)
Did you happen to use the flashlight/torch quick settings tile?
There's currently a bug in AOSP on mako that causes a kernel (Android OS) wakelock indefinitely after using the flashlight quick settings tile. You can open and close the camera app after using the flashlight to clear this wakelock as a workaround, or disable flashlight tile and use a cool app called Power button flashlight for now.
The proximity sensor of your phone is probably broken. The same happened with my phone. You can test if the sensor is working with this app: Phonetester.
A temporary fix is to enable "hang up with the power button" in the accessibility settings, this way at least you can hang up.
I had the same thing man. A widget for the buttons saved me for a while, but then I got a Moto x (2014) and it has been great. Edit: this is the app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.yesoft.handysoftkeys
I got really sick of this stuff happening and ended up switching to a 3rd party camera app. I have two I like.
Snap Camera HDR: While it has "HDR" in the title, it does take normal non-HDR images, too.
HDR+ Camera: Takes 3 images in a row with different brightness settings and then post-processes to create a single HDR image.
Other apps I've used are Camera Zoom FX, A Better Camera (same maker as HDR+ Camera), and Camera 360. Lately, I've been defaulting to Snap Camera. There's a lot of camera apps in the store, I should try out a few others again.
Never had this particular problem. Try using AirDroid to connect your phone to your laptop over local wireless.
AirDroid: File & Notifications - SAND STUDIO https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sand.airdroid&hl=en
Weirdly enough I had a much better performance when installing an app that launches alongside the GPS.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
It may just be the aGPS that does it.
This was removed in the latest google search update. I'm really bummed out too. Hopefully it's an oversight and they bring it back.
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/cerberus-support-forum/FxdHYe_tROE/19PQfY72ePMJ
tl;dr: after a wipe, it tries to restore the settings from local storage, if it fails, the app downloads them from Cerberus' server.
I have over 15 GB through referrals, Dropquest and this program. I'm pretty sure you can still get up to 3 GB by doing camera uploads, not sure if you can still get the 5 GB beta testers got.
update: Here is the .stl still working on fixing some minor issues with the design. in the meantime, this is the charger I use.
[http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/got-a-hot-nexus-4-heres-a-hack-that-will-cool-it-down/](Nexus 4 Heatsink Mod)
There is basically a 15mmx15mmx0.5mm spot next to a processor that is currently an air gap that acts like an insulator. Put a copper shim in there with some thermal paste and it will make things a lot better heat dissipation wise.
Definitely photoshop. http://www.zdnet.com/retailers-rebel-as-lg-tries-pricing-nexus-4-up-to-599-7000006903/
Same source for those 2 pics.
I think bumper orders shipped out Friday finally, mine did and I know of one other too. Monday there will be bumper pics, from me or someone else who gets theirs first.
I used this tutorial.
The hardest parts are getting the back off and prying the old battery up, as that adhesive is strong as hell.
My battery is great now.
Your phone is probably toast, but I'll try to give you advice none the less.
If you know what you are doing when it comes to taking apart electronics, remove the battery and place everything in a tub full of silica gel packets. Do this at your own risk.
If you are not comfortable taking apart your Nexus 4, just power off your phone and place it in the tub full of silica gel packets. You can use rice as a substitute, but it doesn't work as well.
Don't touch the phone for at least 48 hours. I know it's a long time, but you don't want to fry your phone any more. There is still a chance that the phone isn't completely gone for good.
Put everything back together and power your device up. If it is still stuck in a bootloop, the only thing you can try to do is restore it by flashing the factory image.
EDIT: Water damaged phones do some crazy things. I've dropped my LG Optimus in the toilet once and powered it on very soon after. It did some crazy things for a few weeks (reboot out of nowhere, open the camera app over and over again, close random apps), then it worked just fine.
other tips: reduce the brightness, turn off ALL what you really don't need like bluetooth, GPS, etc..
And first of all, this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify
Install Wakelock Detector and let your phone sit for a few hours then open the app and see whats causing CPU wakelocks, apps that are running in the background requesting CPU power and draining your battery. With Greenify you can stop apps from doing this, saving your battery. It basically kills the background process of marked apps after a certain amount of idle time.
In the list of apps in Wakelock Detector you can tap a app name to expand the entry and a Greenify icon is there to quickly Greenify it.
Get something like this: http://www.dx.com/c/cell-phone-599/batteries-503/external-batteries-522
The N5 is good but it doesn't feel like a very big upgrade to be honest. I would def. get a battery pack that you can keep in your bag, car or desk.
I just got a phone call and it did work, not sure if it was plain luck or an actual module that misbehaved. (I uninstalled 2, statusbar icon hider and heads up notifications) both the things I wanted to achieve are possible with gravitybox (wich I had the whole time /facepalm/).
You surely can.
As has been suggested, you could install GravityBox which includes a bunch of extras as well as Pie Controls, but you don't need to enable anything else if you only want pie.
Chroma 11/16 is fantastic! The only issue I have is that Google Keyboard crashes, but Android Keyboard is good enough for now.
To install Chroma you'll have to unlock your boot loader if you haven't already, and install TWRP. Follow the instructions under "Fastboot Install Method."
You can now do a full factory reset.
Then download the Chroma .zip, along with the GApps .zip You'll have to get both these files on your device using USB transfer (or just directly with ads push, much more convenient).
Then simply click the "flash" button in TWRP, add Chroma and GApps to the flash queue, and you should be good!
As /u/blitzzerg shared with me the following site which has everything you need to know on how to change it. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-replace-the-nexus-4-battery-it-can-be-done-android/
I ordered mine off amazon and will be changing mine soon. It doesn't last like it used to so I might as well.
I had this problem I fixed it by using this software to uninstall anything related to nexus 4 and adb
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html
then I used wugfresh to reinstall the nexus 4 drivers
Hope you get the problem fixed I know the frustration
Uninstall the drivers and just plug the nexus 4 back in. Google: USB usbdeview to uninstall the drivers.
Edit: Here's the link the download should be near the bottom
Not rooted. 4.4.4 stock. I think the whole thing started when I installed AdBlock Plus. I read somewhere that it does that, but I'm not sure why it only does that on 3G and not on the wifi. I removed ABP a week later, but the issue remained.
https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17976
Not being able to access my gmail account was so problematic that I managed to fix it (involved clearing all data, deleting the account, reverting to an older version of gmail... honestly cannot remember how) but now it works. Never did the same for the other services as I use them much less and can usually wait to get to a wifi hotspot.
I guess it's best to just wait for the Lollipop update, see if it fixes things. If not, I'll bite the bullet and do a factory reset.
Flashed this an its working wonderfully. Doesn't as many features as cm10 does because cyanogenmod will slowly merge everything. I did have a problem with superuser tho. What I was told was the regular superuser app hasn't been updated to 4.2 yet and that superSU works fine. What I did was I flashed this.
https://www.box.com/shared/ru9m6cnq6druogjgihoh
You will be good to go after that.
I couldn't afford one at the time, so instead I settled for the N73. I beat that thing to hell and back. I had it kajiggered with Push mail, I had a Twitter app, I streamed radio over EDGE, I had a Bluetooth GPS paired with Nokia Maps, I shot HDR photos by manually controlling the camera, I even played with the little Muvee app to cut up video clips. One of the best phones I ever owned. I replaced it with a BlackBerry Curve 8900 (which wasn't great, and failed catastrophically, being entirely incapable of receiving phone calls or texts at one point) which eventually was replaced with a Nexus S.
When I got my Nexus S her phone crapped out, so she took my N73, until I got my Nexus 4 (the first time I ever purchased two phones running the same platform in a row) and she took the Nexus S. Then the Nexus S died, and now she's running the N73. So that sucker has been running for like seven, eight years now and has outlasted a bunch of other phones.
Damn, Nokia knew what they were doing when they designed it!
I guess you never read the MighyText TOS.

So I personally use Private Internet Access for my purposes but you can just as easily setup a home VPN server.
A vpn basically creates a secure encrypted connection between you and the VPN server. What gets sent through should not be readable by anyone snooping in (including your ISP). So in essence, when you connect your phone to a VPN and then tether that connection, the ISP should not be seeing anything different.
Interesting. I followed that link, which led me here, and it worked with my Nexus 4 with purenexus 6.0.1 on it.
Yes, thanks for pointing that out. I did see the X Play on Amazon, but with shipping its close to $600 for the 16GB model. Considering it's available from Koodo for $420, $180 more for the perk of unlocked and direct from Motorola is silly to me.
Oh, and $740 with shipping for the 16GB White model. Yeah...that's not right.
Keep fighting the good fight soldier. I do enjoy rocking the old hardware for as long as I can/maximize my investment. When I started using TMobile MVNOs and was able to unlock the Band 4 LTE on the Nexus 4 a few years ago, it convinced me to keep going on this phone just a bit longer.
edit: For those who come after, the touchscreen testing program I used is here
You're welcome
> May be some things I can try.
I've came at the conclusion that unfortunately we cannot do so much. If you only get SoDs overnight while charging, there are some apps on the store that could mitigate the issue.
If you have a locked bootloader (the small lock icon on the power on screen), there's no way around wiping all data on your phone, except if you're able to run a root exploit like KingRoot to get root access. If so, you can use the app BootUnlocker for Nexus devices, and install Marshmallow without deleting anything.
Tasker - Task - Run Shell - Command killall mediaserver - Use Root
Make sure you have Busybox installed.
I put the task shortcut on my home screen because I end up having to use it a couple times a day.
I assume your soft keys (Back, Home, Multitask) are no longer working.
This is a hardware issue; your digitizer is dead or dying.
Replace the screen (and digitizer, they usually come as a package) and you'll fix it. In the meantime, you can use a helper program like this one: Handy Soft Keys
I bought just a screen and adhesive off Amazon, but I wish I would have bought a full screen-on-frame assembly. It's a little more, but you get a screen already attached to the frame - all you have to do is swap over the rest of the parts of the phone.
You can find videos on youtube. Be warned - my coax antenna cable was taped to the battery, so when I popped out the battery I ripped the coax cable out of one of the connectors, and had to wait for a replacement to arrive.
I use this app. It works with Textra (my main messaging app) and I have linked the app to my dropbox account. Hence it goes to the cloud.
Come on guys, don't you know abou the APK's?, just install this one:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube-music/youtube-music-1-03-12-android-apk-download/
and if you live outside the US install Hola Better Internet for VPN:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.hola
It worked for me on my Nexus 4 MM Chroma, so, it should be good.
Chroma is close to stock and has privacy guard in place of app ops with all the additional little features like the reboot menu. Not sure if ambient display is working, the option is there but the developer suggests using AcDisplay.
To get around having to the use the power key, besides running a kernel with Semaphore's double tap to wake, you could try a really handy app called Gravity Screen.
If you have root access, it even works with Smart Lock now.
I replaced my battery also and noticed similar issue. Then I ran this calibration tool and it deleted the system battery setting file as to reset the calibration for the new battery. It worked. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Abhijay.batteryfixfree&hl=en
I recommend Navmii USA. It has offline maps that can be downloaded by state and good turn by turn navigation. They use map data from openstreet.org/ https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navfree.android.OSM.USA
For other countries they have Navmii World. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.navfree.android.OSM.ALL
It may be that the screen/digitizer is failing. The only solution is to have it replaced. I can't pull down from the status bar anymore and I can see the screen has actually become unglued at the corners. I attribute it to age and heat.
To get your phone temporarily usable, you can install an app like Simple Control to give you an alternate nav bar. You can also install xposed and use the Dimensions Editor module to increase the height of your navbar to where the screen registers touch.
To answer your question, it'd be tough as the prox sensor is user space and double tap to wake is kernel space. You'd have to write a utility to monitor the sensor, give it root privileges, and have it set a sysfs entry that dt2w would monitor. This would stop deep sleep as well, so battery life would be reduced.
What you could try is the Mirage kernel: the dev has implemented a dt2w similar to the LG G2, where you can tap twice anywhere on the screen, but in a very precise small area. It works great for me with hardly any accidental wake. It also has the feature where you can temporarily switch off the dt2w by using the power key. You need a ROM or an app to switch the screen off; I use Cataclysm with swipe navbar to sleep, for example.
I've made an anykernel package with dt2w enabled by default if you would like an easy setup.
Edit: I just now noticed you're running KitKat. I don't know if LP kernel will work on KK. Try using Gravity Screen and see if that works for you.
Try this for the manual method, never tried the non-rooted adb method though. This app works too, but you need root.
You may want to backup your phone too/make a nandroid just to be safe in case anything happens.
I use Solid Explorer to manage files on my N4. It is $1.99, but there is a full featured fourteen day trial. Before I bought Solid Explorer I used ES File Explorer.
Both support FTP transfer which makes it easy to manage files from any computer without having to install anything.
Try cleaning your USB port with a toothpick, using a different USB cable, and connecting to a different computer. If that doesn't fix your problem it probably is a hardware issue. Replacing the USB port isn't very difficult if you are careful.
This is the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
I saw it mentioned on a google forums thread. Just run it on the partial wake lock setting and no more SoDs. It'll drain the battery faster, but at least the phone is reliable for now.
Use something like this, or search for Xposed Amplify for more advanced service/wakelock blocking.
There are hundreds of guides on how to get root access, but the biggest problem you'll find is having to wipe all data in order to unlock the boot loader, if it isn't already unlocked.
And if you're going to wipe all data, you could try a factory reset to see if it solves your problem without having root access.
Since it seems related to Play Services, and I've been recommending this to users experiencing a different issue, it may just solve your issue as well. It's worth a try as a first step.
If you have root access, you can use Terminal or a Tasker task to run the command 'killall mediaserver', once you have BusyBox installed.
I put a Tasker widget on my home screen, so I can quickly fix the video problem when it happens.
If you are interested in reinstalling or getting updates for the Ubuntu ROM you could use MultiROM, which you can install in an Android ROM to setup Ubuntu as a secondary ROM so that you don't brick your phone in the process (it is actually possible to break it, but the odds are lower). You can even install other ROM's as secondary to try them.
If you give it a try, it installs a modded TWRP to do the process, so you will lose the CWM recovery. There is a Material Design theme for it, available here
I really liked Lux until Lollipop. I even bought the full version and recommended it to others. Now it is crap and doesn't work well at all... all sorts of bugs and crashes requiring a restart. I tried out CF.Lumen, but I didn't have much luck with it either.
I have been using Twilight (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.lux&hl=en). It's not as good as Lux used to be and there isn't quite a many settings, but I'm not having crashes or other issues on Lollipop either. It suffices for my needs.
For installed apps you can use Helium, and you should disable or backup any double factor authentication, to avoid losing access to accounts like Google.
Last I checked, best buy will price match amazon, newegg, and other retailers. Makes the store credit much more valuable imo.
You mean this?
It affect nexus 4 too. I guess it was linked to the infamous nexus 4 camera bug, because everytime I do snapchat, there is a 1/20 probability (assumption) that the phone screen will turn black but it is still on, sometime accompanied with endless vibration. The only way to fix it is to hard reset
As for the bug, no, Google hasn't yet fixed this bug since it was first discovered...
But in my past experience using paranoid Android on 4.4, I've never had that problem... So it might be that some custom Rom for had fixed the bug.
It fits great, I designed it specifically for that phone. I actually have more photos on my Etsy page including one without the phone: https://www.etsy.com/listing/183116169/nexus-5-qi-charging-platform?ref=shop_home_active_1
Here is the LG Service Manual for the N4... It might help if you don't have it already LG E960 Nexus 4 Mako service manual.pdf
I ended up flashing a stock kernel, and then a different stock kernel, and then it worked. Not sure why.
I had Franco before the update, Franco is kind of damaging, replaces a lot of stuff, like ramdisk, etc.

Mine seems to be really good. Best I've seen so far was one day and 9 hours. A lot of that time it was on standby however

That also happened to me last night... Was put back in in the morning, and was taken out in the afternoon/night.
My order also shows up as recently ordered even though i ordered it on the 4th. All other places referencing dates are still the same though
T-Mobile's IPv6 network is opt-in, but it's fully native with zero NAT. I once tried running a web server on my Galaxy Nexus, and was able to connect to it directly from Comcast's v6 network.
Well "zero NAT" isn't entirely true, because you do have to go through a NAT64+DNS64 to access IPv4-only services.
There's a bit more info here: https://sites.google.com/site/tmoipv6/lg-mytouch
They're pretty new (as in just a few days old and not even on Amazon) so they don't have any real reviews out yet, but the people at Best Buy seem to like them. They look awesome, but I'm going to wait and see if the microphone is able to keep up in windy conditions like biking. Granted, my needs are pretty specific, so they might suit you just fine.
The battery is really easy to change. I just swapped batteries for the second time. I installed this:
Not 100% sure it's original, but it appeared to be original, old stock.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/vtrdqjs3oe904tm/IMG_20121222_171351.JPG I'm using it with Static Live Wallpaper to keep the picture in the same place when you move between home screens.
I've had some really great images like that too. The HDR mode seems pretty excellent. They may be overcompressed/blurry/whatever when zoomed in, but this seems to me like it'll only matter for crops.
Here's one I took, also unretouched: https://www.dropbox.com/s/y4o2nqa2bhmrvkg/2002-12-08%2012.00.00.jpg
