IMO, the next upgrade will not be coming anytime soon. However, you can turn on dark/night mode in developer options which helps a bit. And here's a link to Pixel Experience Theme Dark for LG G7 which many recommend but I have never tried.
I tried this once and kinda liked it: Notch & S10 Battery bar trial - Live wallpaper
I read about it here: [APP][TESTERS NEEDED] Notch Battery Bar - Live Wallpaper
It says you need a custom launcher to apply this icon pack.
... if this is the Whicons icon pack you speak of.
Different notification look- bit more rounded and more of them have "instant reply", builtin dynamic rotation, preview on the corner of the screen after taking a screenshot, cinemagraph mode in the camera.
Those are the things I noticed but there are some minor details too that I don't care much about. Battery seems a bit better although it was good enough for me already. The dynamic rotation is the most useful change for me.
Navigation bar doesn't work for me as it should but I stick to the old one anyways.
The VGA port on there makes me think you've got yourself a DisplayLink adaptor. That's not going to work. Get a USB-C -> HDMI cable and you'll be good, with the obvious exception that you can't charge or use other USB devices.
I've done it on a couple TVs with my G7 for WebEX etc and it works fine.
I have two of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DBZYM8C/ if you want something confirmed working with the G7.
I didn't know the G7 could even do that. If you can't figure it out, try the app called, surprisingly, "Wallpaper Changer" from j4velin (link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.j4velin.wallpaperChanger ). You can set it to look at specific directories, set the change interval, and it has a widget to force a change to the next image. I have about 10,000 images I've saved/taken that it randomly picks from every 3 minutes. It seems to have little to no impact on the phone performance.
TL;DR: I seriously need to stop saving images for wallpaper.
You should treat yourself to the Google clock. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.deskclock
The alarm has gotten really good lately! You have an option to wake up to a Spotify play list. And after you shut off the alarm you have the option to have Assistant trigger an action. In my case, I have the phone play weather and NPR news.
And the app is free!
And it's not the sucky stock LG clock that others have complained about.
Everyone is saying that it's not currently possible for number three but there is an app that gives it this functionality although it does take some time for the initial setup.
If you're willing to set it up the first video in the link shows you how the app works and there's another video to teach you how to give the app the necessary permissions.
Navigation Gestures https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xda.nobar
Buy a case. I use a thin TPU case just to protect it from drops. Currently using this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C1Y1ZXX/
Enable full disk encryption (AKA Secure Start Up).
I use the older home navigation buttons on the bottom, so customize that. Particularly adding the notification button since the phone is so tall.
I also sourced the calculator qslide app from the g6 since they removed that. (also added qslide apps button to home buttons).
I use the SwiftKey keyboard, and Textra messaging app.
If you use the headphones port often, setting up the EQ to your desired preferences.
Update camera capture format/size (I use max size). Some people will say to install gcam, I don't use it though so I can't comment.
Hope that helps.
It's only on one of two or more of your homescreens? Can you post a picture(not a screenshot) of both homescreens?
edit: Never heard of it only being on one homescreen of the same screen. Usually just leaving the screen off for a few hours, or maybe days, along with a restart gets rid of them. However, you said it has lasted for over a week. Therefore, you may want to try this app that is made to remove them from LCDs and has many good reviews from LG phone owners, including G7 owners: LCD Burn-in Wiper. Hopefully, it will help. If not, you might need to get your screen replaced.
Some recommend this app but I have never used it:
... However, the notch itself can't be used.
edit: you do know you can just turn the notch area off under Settings -> Display -> New Second Screen, I assume. That's what I do.
currently I have a theme installed but if you want to do it natively, settings -> general -> accessibility -> vision -> enable high contrast screen.
edit: I'm using this theme https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.gtheme.dark.three.gseven
I don't recall ever having popups like that on any phone. *scratches head* That's awful. =(
edit: Have you tried something like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=popup.ads.detector
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ztc1997.fingerprint2sleep&hl=en_US
It's no longer updated, but it works for me perfectly fine.
If anyone knows of an updated app which can accomplish the same thing, I'd appreciate if you could let me know.
It's already there. Check it yourself: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kevintresuelo.treble&hl=en_CA&rdid=com.kevintresuelo.treble
I came from a Pixel as well. This theme brought the look and feel just not the features of a pixel. I have been pleased with it. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixel.experience.dark
Have you tried the app?
I have mine set to always open Wikipedia articles in the app. Not because of the problem you're facing, but because I find it gives a better overall experience.
I've surprisingly stayed with stock launcher, but have switched to Google's apps for phone, messages, calendar, contacts, Google Photos, etc.

I'm using this theme, however: <strong>Pixel Experience Theme for LG G7</strong>

Notification bar icon is a no go, I guess? You can always install an app that will put a toggle on your homescreen to save you a swipe down.
Silent Mode Toggle, for example
https://justgetflux.com/research.html
https://www.androidcentral.com/try-blue-light-filter-your-phone-or-tablet-your-eyes-will-thank-you
basically blue light affects your sleep and strains your eyes if you look at your computer/phone screen at night without the filter.
I would suggest downloading f.lux on your pc as well if you decide to use it, it might be a bit awkward at first but becomes unnoticeable after like a week.
Well... if its a GSM phone it should theoretically work. To know for sure, I'd look at the supported GSM/LTE/4G/3G supported frequencies on the LGG7+ and compare it against AT&T's. That information should be readily available at ATTs and LGs website. Someone online found the time to compare the bands across carriers. Take a look at this link: https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-checker/US/lg-g7-plus-thinq - Before you buy, Id verify that this information is accurate. The only way to do so is for you to check the specs.
Have you had a look on the Play Store yet? There's a lot of good themes on there. Shameless plug but I have my Vivid Monet Green theme for UX9 which has a few unique features (like the desktop wallpaper and volume bar background changes):
WSTeams also has plenty of very detailed themes. Their Oxygen OS theme is pretty popular but plenty of other good ones (Belong is pretty unique):
I have used my LG G7 for many Teams meetings, using an external EarBay headset from Amazon (highly recommended). Everything worked great. Plenty of volume and people could hear me very well.
Ooh. I would recommend ditching your old Sprint sim card like you are escaping the sinking Titanic. The T-Mobile simcard is likely a free upgrade from your carrier, and is a lot more reliable in my rural experience. Buuut if you really want to turn off just the VoLTE badge, I believe there is a toggle in System UI Tuner. You will need a computer and basic tech troubleshooting skills to enable the app's administrative privileges through Android Debug Bridge.
I use this protector which is full screen.

They offer lifetime replacements, where if you contact them they will either send a replacement to you or give you a promo code on amazon to make it cost $0.01. Also, if you leave them a review you get a free wireless charger.
Have you tried switching to another app? I personally recommend Google Messages if you are in the USA because of the simple UI, Assistant integration and RCS support https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging&hl=en_US
Wasn't going to post this because it is an app but I see someone else posted one.
>Flashlight turns on and off with the power button "Power".

Power Button Torch/ Flashlight
I've been using it exclusively for a few months now and it is awesome.
I'm using Raegr acr 700 wireless charger.. It's capable of fast wireless charging @15w. Takes me less than 2 hours to charge my phone from 0 to 100 (stock charger takes 1hr 44 minutes). I'm not sure about its availability outside India though... Here's the link: https://www.amazon.in/dp/B07WPVNRBT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_LqexFbJHG5DBC
There are a lot of people experiencing this problem.:
Messages App deleted all my texts
It seems that you can use the Textra SMS app to recover your messages.
You can try BatOn from the Google App store. It shows the battery percentage left, but the device does have to be connected.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.ss.g7
Questo è OneUi Theme
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=giap.lge.ux8
E questo invece è LG UX8 Theme, molto carino pure.
I use this app to disable a load of system apps and random garbage as well as LG preinstalled apps that I've replaced with the Google counterparts (Messages, Contacts, Phone, etc.)
I like these. It can be a bit harsh for those use to the glossy glass types, but I've always had a preference for the matte with paper like touch.
LG G7 ThinQ Screen Protector (LG G7+ ThinQ), IQ Shield Matte Full Coverage Anti-Glare Screen Protector for LG G7 ThinQ (2-Pack) Bubble-Free Film https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFPVGJJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_5nbOCbAM42MS7
Try filmic plus.

Also G7+ isn't a Korean model. Korean is 710N and mostly selling Plus is 710EAW, which is still lags in updates
I am happy with the battery life for the size of the battery. However, I am only an average user. If you game a lot on your phone, this may not be the phone for you. In addition, I think you will be well pleased with the performance boost of the G7 over the V20. I've had mine for well over a year and plan on using it for at least one more year. I think you would be happy with it if you choose to upgrade. It's a great phone.
You can install the APK but it doesn't set "Grayscale" or have working app limits (only counting) :
Download here:
And follow this guide:
We might get it with Android 10 but I doubt any earlier. Even the Galaxy S9's with Pie don't have it natively.
Personally, I would think Nova launcher should be able to do that in Nova settings (press-hold wallpaper on home page) -> Home screen -> Desktop grid -> set 3x5 -> set padding as you see fit But that's just me
I hear you, the battery is the only thing I dislike and only reason I might replace mine (since the screen is cracked from dropping it on my driveway) with something else.
Internet speeds are awesome though, which is why I'm so confused by the comments. This is on my g7 connected at home right now:
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6065714401
That's about what my wired desktop gets on the same router. Over LTE I'm getting: https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/6065729230
Upload isn't great but that's TMobile where I live. 🤷
I only recently got the device so can't answer fully but heres my experience.
1) RAM management is a bit aggressive for my taste. But tbh nothing has been cleared from the memory that affected me. In fact I feel it works great overall, not sure what problems you are talking about.
2) -
3) Its called 'LG UX' And its not aggressively customized. I am personally okay with it.
4) -
The Android One thing you're talking about is probably about LG G7 One. LG G7 has three variants.
LG G7 ThinQ and ThinQ+ (G7 ThinQ+ is same as ThinQ except it has 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage.)
LG G7 One
LG G7 Fit
G7 One is the Android One program device.
All three variants have different specs.
Spec comparison of 3 variants - https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=9115&idPhone2=9304&idPhone3=9305
https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g7_one_and_lg_g7_fit_hands_on-review-1814.php

Wonder if there's a way to get it in the CAD models...
https://www.gsmarena.com/lg-phones-20.php nope... V-G-Q and other series. also g7 has at least 3 sub-series thinq-one-fit.. whatever.. I would prefer if they went solid with 2-3 series like OP without sub-series for faster updates ofc.
>lm-g710em
Right, https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g7_thinq-9115.php#g710em

You are correct, I just assumed all versions would accept 2 sims cause the SIM tray indeed supports 2 sims..

At least we have a SIM storage compartment :p

Any phone this age probably needs a new battery, unless the user scrupulously kept charge between 20-80% the whole time, and this phone doesn't have a built-in feature to do that, so it's pretty unlikely. Unfortunately, any phone this new almost certainly needs to have the screen removed to access the battery, making replacement unlikely to cost much less than $100.
I have kept my battery in that range -- it was a pretty big PITA, honestly -- and it's still about 75% healthy / ~2200mA capacity, so I'm happy with battery life as it nears its third birthday. It's still very fast, the only slowdown I ever experience is effing Niantic games (interacting with Pikmin is laggy as hell) but in day to day use it's smooth sailing.
One thing to keep in mind, this phone is already a year out of security updates, so there's a nontrivial risk in continuing to use it as a daily driver. That's the only reason I'm considering any upgrade.
If that doesn't put your off, and you're in the US, and you don't mind the phone being pretty chonky for daily use, maybe pick one up and if the battery turns out to be unlivable, you could buy one of these instead of replacing the internal battery?
" HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps, LTE-A (3CA) Cat16 1024/150 Mbps or Cat15 800/150 Mbps (region dependant) "

How can I recognize carrier unlocked ones from the normal ones? I'll be buying from India, and a top review here says this-
<<<<<<<<<<<< IMPORTANT NOTE>>>>>>>>>>>
There has been reports that Europeans are sending Carrier unlocked phones as new International versions in India. These are under contract phone, bought for much less and sold as new in India, with manual repackaging, authentic to new. I got the same version of the phone twice and immediately filed return to both. The problem with these phone is that YOU WON'T GET ANY IMPORTANT SECURITY UPDATE!!!!!. It will run software only that came with factory installed. That means you won't be getting Pie update too. Even sellers are unaware of this issue because they just import the international version. Please like this, so this review doesn't get removed. Best way to know is to check for update in settings. 99% chance is that there will be an update available because LG regularly release monthly software updates. BE VERY CAREFULL AND DON'T IGNORE THIS ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!
Use this. It's adfree as well.
(if you dig into the settings you can also set videos to only play at 1080p on wifi and a lower res on mobile data, for music etc)
Not sure how to get the original volume warning back, but I use the Automate app to create a new one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.llamalab.automate
The app makes your phone automatically trigger actions based on the occurences. So I used the volume check block and the headphone check block to lower the sound volume if it goes above some value when my headphones are plugged in.
My G7 was connected to US Cellular on Google Fi like 98% of the time, I wouldn't worry about it.
You can check with FiSwitch. It's 100% worth the couple of bucks.
Ah, I see, you are right. I searched for "change notification panel white", and found an article referring to this app (Status Bar & Notch Custom Colors and Backgrounds):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fragments.notch.status_bar
There are many more apps on the Play Store that do the same thing, but this one seems to be rated highly. I haven't actually used it because the color of the notification bar is not important to me.
The built in DND mode on Android is quite limited. And not all apps adhere to an active DND policy.
You could try an app that has more advanced features and provides better control. Like Hush: Call blocker & App blocker. It's a nicely designed very advanced do not disturb app. Probably fits your needs.
Download an app from PlayStore called App Inspector use the search feature in it to find the game tool app and use this app to know the app's package name. Meanwhile connect your phone and in the ADB installation folder, press and hold shift and then right click anywhere and open command prompt or powershell window.
Back glass: https://www.amazon.com/Glass-Cover-Battery-Replacement-Platinum/dp/B07MFCJS6V
Screen plus frame assembly: https://www.amazon.com/Azqqlbw-LMG710TM-LMG710VM-LM-X420EMW-Digitizer/dp/B083K4JF6M
I think I got mine from ifixit for like 60 or something, I wouldn't get this for $75 myself. Ebay also has the back glass for $10-12 generally
Having access to button presses is self-explanatory, but having access to button presses with network access is a keylogger.
You can see this app has IAP but no full network access permission. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.irishin.buttonsremapper Unfortunately it didn't work with the LG google assistant button :(
which button mapper are you referring to? this one? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
so far quick settings has done the job I needed but I'd like to experiment with some other options too so if you've found one that has worked well for you I'm game to try it. Have you been able to remap the "hey google" button?
Yes, same here. I am getting into the ADB commands, and I have just employed Ice Box by Ruoxin He (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.catchingnow.icebox) and it works really good. Just a note though, from personal experience, don't disable com.android.phone or you will not be able to use your phone. A dialogue will keep popping up.
I use this one. Gives usb ports and ethernet along with the HDMI port. Use it for my laptop for pd charging and ethernet as well
I appreciate the detailed breakdown. It sounds like the G8 is a really good phone! I always wished my G7 One had an OLED display...
Does the G8 get timely updates, monthly security patches? How do you like LG's skin on Android? Do you use custom themes, like this and if so, do you like them?
Others you can find in Google Play Store but most of them need to pay for it. Hope it helps
I'm still on android 9. I use this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.litewhite.callblocker
Sends all numbers that aren't in my contacts to VM. It's not perfect but it works. If I have audio playing when a call gets blocked I'll get one ring before it's rejected
Just ordered a TetDed leather case off of Amazon
I use Nova Launcher Prime and it works great
I would highly recommend using either a Whitestone Dome or Gadget Guardz Liquid Glass Screen Protector as this device scratches pretty easily since it's Gorilla Glass 5 which is a softer glass. My biggest regret is not doing this.
Battery split off as a store app through the stupid digital well-being app.
Depending on version installed, battery estimates may or may not work or be accurate. Google's battery monitor hasn't worked well for several generations of Android anyways.
Just ignore, don't install updates, use 3C battery monitor instead.
I did a little research on Amazon and i found this one i think I'll give it a try. LG G7 ThinQ Screen Protector (2-Pack)(LG G7+ ThinQ), Skinomi MatteSkin Full Coverage Screen Protector for LG G7 ThinQ Anti-Glare and Bubble-Free Shield https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFRDKWQ/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_gk5NCb92C20RB
I ordered these tempered glass protectors:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C3S92HS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They come with a coupon for a free wireless charger that works great for me. The protectors also have a lifetime warranty so if they break the company will give you an Amazon coupon to make the cost $0.01 so you can get free ones.
Came across thing one awhile ago as well: https://www.amazon.com/LG-LM-G710TM-TMobile-Smartphone-Raspberry/dp/B07K1GJGVC/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=lg+g8&qid=1572561050&sr=8-11
It's from amazon. Not brand new condition like the ebay one, but it would get delivered much much faster.
I had awful issues with my lgg7 thing and AA, was actually thinking about switching to an iPhone.. Until someone on another sub mentioned This cable I've been using it for a week now, daily 40 minute commute, and its never once disconnected.
I once bought a phone which was flashed with a different region, and I remember that the phone I received had a blank serial number in the settings and couldn't receive ota updates. I think it was a sprint phone which was rebranded to unlocked. We ended up returning it, and trying again with an unlocked verizon model on eBay. The second time we found an official verizon phone.
I just remembered that it would fail safetynet too which means that some apps don't work like Google Pay, some banking apps, and some other apps. You can check if it fails safetynet by using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.freeandroidtools.safetynettest&hl=en_US
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery&hl=en_US
AccuBattery is great. Use this for a week and you'll see your current battery capacity compared to the design capacity.
You can download an LG G7 dark theme from Google Play.
Though AFAIK there's only one that makes the notifications in the notification bar dark, the rest don't seem to do that: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixel.experience.dark
I'm using the Pixel Experience Theme for the different look in the quick settings, but if you're looking to change accent color, take a look at the comment I made above :)
Hi, I hope you enjoy your phone.
If you want a dark Pixel-style theme, I recommend this theme: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.pixel.g7
I have the G8 ThinkQ. It also works for the G7. Enjoy it.
I use Signal Spy and Fialer to do similar carrier switches from time to time. I've found that the copy/paste into Phone functionality in Signal Spy no longer works with the latest Phone app update, but Fialer still works (although it occasionally crashes).
Just get the Package Disabler Pro for Lg:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pdmdm.dmplay&hl=en_US
Then you can disable two apps "Gaming" and "Game launcher" and you will see the difference.
You can also disable a lot of useless bloatware apps like LDB, Weather, My Places, etc.
I disabled almost 90% of my apps and my phone is flying.
There is an app SecondScreen which can modify device native resolution to 1920x1080 for fullscreen casting on TV.
I think they were part of the marketing campaign.
I wanted dark mode as well, didn't find anything in smartworld, even looked up how to design themes but resorted to a play store theme after that. I use this one.
It's not perfect, the transparency effect on the notification bar in the drop down menu looks a bit wonky but it's not all that noticable and other than that it's pretty cool. I'm not entirely sure how google handles refunds but I think you could even return it if you don't like it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=cameramute.app.cameramute
Works fine with my LG G7. It doesn't mute the portrait mode shutter but regular photos, yep.
I have a Tasker task that starts the app after a reboot so I don't forget. It doesn't stick between reboots.
A10 will come with dark mode of you can wait or else there are pixel experience launchers available in the play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lge.theme.markbencze.pixel.experience.dark)
You have to buy it tho......
I got it after installing the Pixel Experience theme:
Even when using the default theme, the option is available in the Home settings. Bit weird but works like it's native (and not like the Nova addon).
I use this for nice looking wallpapers https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hdwallpapers.uhdwallpaper&hl=en_US
Well this one does
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.snowlife01.android.mutecamera
And it requires 'usage access' permission and when you start the camera app you get at toast notification that all sound is muted. It literally mutes every sound from the device and somehow the camera shutter too. Once you close the camera app, another toast notification says that Mute is off.
Comes with this warning
If you turn the mute on manually, all the sounds in your device will be muted until you turn it off manually.
If you uninstall this app with the mute still manually turned on, you will need to reinstall it to turn the mute off, so make sure to turn the mute off before uninstalling.
I am considering getting the pro version but not sure what implications does giving it that permission has and what all stuff it could access.
I try to keep mine charged between 50% to 80% but Accubattery tells me that I could get close to seven hours of SOT if I went from 100% to 0%. My idle drain stays between .7% and 1.5% but is at .9% about 80% of the time. However, your battery life will be reduced when using the quad dac, especially with high impedance headphones.
That looks a pop up with the app itself, rather than a system level notification. I would try to download a different VPN before I accepted that pop up as the truth. TunnelBear is free for 500mb and ProtonVPN has a free tier too. The vast majority of VPNs in the Playstore are not worth using.

If it helps u Poetic Revolution for G7
https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07CF7PLQV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (is pink, but mine is black, only for reference)
My g7 Is a nuclear shelter, incredible glass, awesome overall better case.
Check it, is the best u can buy for g7 long life
This is the charger I use it charges my phone in less than 2 hours
Love Mei case is thicker, and has some metal so it's harder to find a reliable charger. I did end up finding one though https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Qi-Certified-Charging-Compatible-Qi-Enabled/dp/B079KZ49PJ/ref=psdc_2407761011_t1_B07CVVJ8V2
Buddy bought one and it appears to work well with my case.
I really hope it doesn't die that soon. Where I am, buying part is difficult.
If I have to do this, I'll make also make sure to buy this replacement battery too
Sealing it back up afterwards was no problem. I didn't even re-apply any adhesive; I just used what was there. I took the hair dryer to it one last time to re-soften it and then clamped the phone together. I keep my phone in an Otterbox case so I'm not worried about the adhesive failing. If you are worried, though, I've heard of people just using some double-sided tape.
What did you use for a macro lens? I have a couple of cheap clip-ons from Amazon (something like this), but they both suffer from some pretty extreme vignetting. I have to crop most of the picture out to get rid of it.
Nice picture, BTW. Such a bright monochrome (well, aside from the touch of purple), I really like it. I'm also a pretty big fan of macro photography...capturing the details that most people don't even notice.
I have this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D1CG8QY It works great with a Spigen case. I like the black-border + drilled speaker style because you really can't tell there's a screen protector. The concave cut out ones are so obvious.
The LG G7 One does not have the lock option. The lock option was added by LG whilst the One version runs pretty much stock Android.
However, you can use an app like Gallery Vault.
There are many apps like this to control the LED in the App Store:
I've never used one of these apps but many people recommend them and this one allows you to select which LED notifications to disable.
Just upgraded last night (Aus EMW) and I have all of the Pie features:
That's right for adaptive battery, same for most phones I think (at least Samsung's). The battery exclusions list might apply to it but not sure.
You can change the settings menu to a list (top right "...") but can change it further with themes like Pixel Experience
Multitasking menu is changed only with gesture navigation.
Not sure about app actions, always worked on Nova though.
I'm pretty satisfied with the update so far. Google Len's button in Capture+ is nice and scrolling is butter smooth. Animations in settings is a little annoying but that's about it.
That would be my guess. Of course, it's hard to get them to seat properly -- for me, anyway -- so I'd check that.
edit: I've never used it but I've read this testing/repair app is fairly good:

Wanted this for a while and got it working. Follow these steps:
1) download a theme from the play store with a dark theme. I use ones from Nguyen Ngoc Corp. There are a few so pick your liking. Here's the one I like: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ngocgiap.lgtheme.pixel.g7
2) Set the above theme of your choice.
3) Go to settings and change home touch buttons. Just pick a different color, then update back to the theme color. E.g. pick a white one then the theme color (first option).
4) Go change the theme back to whatever you want the notification area to be. Then DO NOT go into the home button settings at all, ever. For me this has caused me to stay with the darker theme on the navigation bar but not on the rest of the theme.
Let me know if it works.
Fdroid is safe and a great resource to move away from google. Half of the reason Google collects so much data from android is because everybody uses all the Google apps that come installed by default, rather than android itself. I use OSMand~(from f Droid) but it's in the playstore too, it's the best free and open source alternative to google maps. There are lots of cool things about fdroid. I'm using a free call recorder app that is as good as the 7-10 dollar ones from the playstore. I use newpipe which is YouTube without ads. If you don't trust Google but you're not gonna use fdroid, you are either gonna end up not having a navigation app or dooming yourself to Google's data collection. There are more unsafe apps in the playstore and the only unsafe ones in fdroid have a disclaimer telling you that it's no longer being developed and has "anti-features".

Also if you are serious-
Firefox or brave for chrome
Startpage or duckduckgo for Google.com
Standard notes for keep
Simple gallery, contacts, calculator, clock for the Google/LG stock versions
Qksms or signal for android messages
Protonmail or tutanota for Gmail replacement.
Still haven't found a replacement for assistant yet. There is an open source assistant called mycroft but no android app yet. There is always Alexa but I don't see how that is much better tbh.
It's possible to not use Google services if you want to do it.
I'm just curious how the notch works. I'd prefer it stay black all the time but I'm guessing that's impossible without something like Nacho Notch and I'd prefer it be rounded too. I'm just ocd about it. Is the notch area just whatever colour the top of the app is or is it always white or something?
Thank you, SystemUI Tuner worked, although it did not work from its settings toggle, had to use the quick setting for Heads Up Notifications in the notification panel quick settings (see this issue).
