Relay for Reddit. I've been using it for years and it works very well. It's author is a redditor himself and responds to comments in Relay's subreddit.
Try it and if you like it go for the Pro version to remove any adverts.
Get one of the dozens of magnetic mounts that are 4.5+ stars average rating on Amazon. If you run with a naked phone or slim case, the phone has enough magnetism to hold without even applying a plate. If you're running a thicker case, just drop the mount between the case and phone without using the adhesive.

Here's an idea. Don't know how well it would work, but I think the base app is free so all it would require is some time on your part.
Download SwipePad. It's intended to set up swipe zones around the edges of your phone to launch custom apps or shortcuts.
But if you modify the pad so that all of the portals are hidden, it could basically create a "dead zone" around the edges of the screen whose width could be adjusted by the size of the pad.
Then it has to be some app you've installed.
Like /u/g4rysOn mentioned, the only time you should see ads is when you have free apps or games, which you agreed to see the ads while playing the game or using the free app.
I suggest you download AVG or some other trustworthy malware cleaner, and scan your device with it.
I posted this in another s7/edge thread about android drain and wake locks, it's very pertinent.
>There are so many things going through android OS that regular battery stats aren't granular enough to find. I'd recommend people download the non-root version of wakelock detector (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.uzumapps.wakelockdetector.noroot) and after enabling usb debugging, connect your phone to your computer, then at a command prompt (assuming you have adb installed on your computer) type this:
>Adb tcpip 5555
>This gives the application access to read the wake lock status for processes and services. Note; if you restart your phone then you have to redo the above step for the app to have access to the info.
Download Package Disabler Pro. It's worth buying. It doesn't require root and works:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.powermanager.batteryaddon
Hit the option to disable all bloatware. Re-enable any AT&T or Samsung apps you need/use.
If you haven't done it in a while, do a whole factory reset. It's a pain in the ass, but it always seems to help for a while. Just remember to run package disabler afterwards to disable all the junk.
Android itself will be using a fair chunk of that, but more likely there are some files/folders somewhere that the Samsung storage software doesn't read as a document/video/pic, it just reads it as "used space" (e.g. saves for games, downloaded apks).
Try something like SD Maid's storage analyser function (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.sdm) to see just where your large folders and files are.
Same thing here. I use a Nova gesture to lock via Screen off. It only prompts for my PIN when I use the gesture for the 3rd party app to lock the device. If I use the power button or let the phone lock itself, no prompt for the PIN after the fingerprint.
From a user's suggestion <strong>here</strong>, I tried Screen Off - Go 2 Sleep and it seems to work fine. From the description it "Temporary sets down the screen-timeout to a few seconds so that the device is sent to standby mode without locking it".
So it just turns the screen off and sets the phone to lock itself quicker temporarily. I set it as the gesture in Nova and I can now turn the screen off without having to key in my PIN after unlocking.
You can install this permission Explorer. Open the app and tap the permissions category on the top right. Search for the permission called "SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW", that's the permission used to create an overlay (source). Then tap it and there you have an overview of what apps have that permission!
It's 66 apps at my phone so don't expect to find out the exact app from here, but it's definitely helpful at least to limit it to less possible apps.
Samsung already implements most of the features, but Oreo brings us important things, such as:
There are other additions too: https://www.android.com/versions/oreo-8-0/
I tried several screen protectors from amazon and the're garbage. Do yourself a favor and head over to best buy and have them put the geek squad one on. It cost me $30 CDN but it's the only option that isn't crap and they guarantee it. I have this case and it's fantastic. https://www.amazon.ca/Spigen%C2%AE-Resilient-Ultimate-protection-impacts/dp/B01A7IDHOU/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1466553684&sr=1-5&keywords=s7+edge+case
I've had this SHIELDON case since I got my S7E, and I absolutely love it. Lightweight, good protection, functional, and looks/feels AMAZING. I have gotten many compliments on this case. One of the things I like best about this Folio is that it has hidden magnets that keep the cover securely closed or held open. Comes in brown (the one I got) or black, and is $24 on Amazon at the moment.
Something like this would be fine. Sometimes Amazon can have fakes, purchase through Amazon, do some googling on how to identify if it's fake or not.
I don't think you can achieve that on stock. Try this app. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=systems.maju.darkmode I never tried this so I can't confirm that this will work. Also install a dark theme from theme store
I use Accubatteryto check battery health. I have had my s7 edge for 1 and 1/2 years with moderate usage. The stock battery is 3600 mAh, mine has degraded to 3036 mAh or 84% of stock. Which I am fine with, it's still 60% or more after I get home from work, still a great phone!
Yeah thats just the way Android handles notifications, its in case you take them out for a moment, it stops you missing notifications.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix Try this app for a workaround without root
Have you tried muzei? That links to a lot of wallpaper apps and it can be set up to change the wallpaper automatically. Muzei Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.nurik.roman.muzei
I had the same happen i found an app called easyHome, it's maybe not for everybody but it enables the capacitive function of the home button so that you don't have to even push. You just lay your finger and it works. My only complaint is that it sometimes has to be restarted but otherwise i prefer it to having to push the button.
I installed this app: Hearing Saver
which you can tell to set your volume to pre-defined levels (100% in my case) when headphones are plugged in or, in my case, when bluetooth audio is connected. Works most of the time but still not every time. Used it on my Note 4 and now my S7E.
I have the Otterbox symmetry I don't know how good it is for drop protection, but the way it fits the phone is perfect. It's $34.99 if you go into walmart, but all you have to do is load their site and they'll pricematch it for $17.99. Done this for two phones and they don't give any problems.
Try these things:
Clear the cache and/or data of Enhanced Services in the app settings.
Install the Latest apk of Enhanced Services.
Restart your phone, if you haven't, and pray it magically fixes itself.
This should work for you at $13.99, although it's Amazon so YMMV on delivery:
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerPort-Compatible-Qualcomm-Certified/dp/B077HFFLMS/
I've been using a similar Anker Q3 charger to fast-charge my S7E since I bought the phone four years ago, when I need to use a cable to charge (also use one in my car).
The only problem I've had with it is that the Samsung wireless fast-charger does not like this power brick. Otherwise it works well.
I use liquid glass, it's this awesome stuff that you rub on your phone. None the less even if it breaks the company will replace the screen. It's kinda pricey but I've had mine for over a year and I've had no issues. Here's an Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JFQLPZ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_TE2MCbV0WTTA6
I'd encourage you to try Better Battery Stats. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats&hl=en_AU
Note there are some steps you must do for it to be able to do its job - they're in the app description. They involve connecting your phone to a computer and running a couple of adb commands to grant it specific permissions.
I found that it was able to nail down exactly which app was causing wake locks, that was then useful for disabling/uninstalling and seeing what changes. I've uninstalled it since - job done.
I used this case, it's the same as the case I used to use on my Note 5. I really like it because it makes my phone feel like I'm not even using a case.
It's not rugged like you say you're looking for, but I've dropped my phone many times in the last year and a half and it still looks like it just came out of the box.
I can't speak for the screen protector part as I don't use one, but it has very thin edges so at least in theory it should be from the better ones when it comes to that.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BJ7SIR4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_OlH5zb7YXGWJR
Also, no issues with screen sensitivity and wireless charging works great.
Here is the one i got.
Galaxy S7 Edge Screen Protector, [2-Pack] PLESON [Case Friendly] [Updated Version] [Full Coverage] [Bubble-Free] [No Lifted Edges]Wet Applied HD Clear Film Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711V8H5C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_mPNUzb35TF6Q0
Best case I've ever had, dropped it plenty of times with no issue. I don't know if this matters to you or not but it also gives the S7 Edge the same thickness as the Note 7 so it feels like you're using one again, minus the S Pen.
This is what I use: Seneo PA014 Fast Wireless Charger 2 Coils QI Wireless Charging Stand(Sleep-Friendly) - No AC Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H76NIAS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_gUNbWgWuXa76h
I've had it for about four months and haven't seen any cons with it. I use my work computer to charge it, UT you can easily buy an AC adapter as well. It's not included.
I use this one: Case-Mate Cell Phone Case for Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
I use Spigen slim armor card case. Its not a wallet case but I can usually store up to 2 cards and a couple bills folded flat in there. Anything more it might start bulking in the back. Otherwise Ive been using spigens products and have been more than great. Ive used this case even when I used an iphone before i switched to android.
As for screen protector I use the armorsuit. It covers the edges nicely and fits with the case. Ive had this screen protector for about 3 to 4 months now and still responsive and working great!
I know exactly what you mean. I got the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Galaxy S7 Edge Case. I got the clear one and it's about as thin as you can get while still having some protection.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A7IDKMO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
i have had this one for a week, and so far so good.
my previous case (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B1WBB8U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) sucked, my kid dropped(slammed) my phone down on my hardwood floor while my husband was watching him lol it was flapped open and the corner of the screen cracked. ugg i'm really hopping the unicorn works out, since this is my third s7edge :/ and i don't think i get anymore on my insurance, wondering if i should cancel it? i bought a smart watch so i don't have to have it one me when i'm playing with the little one. i'll never buy another edge again
I've liked this one. It'll stand vertical or horizontal. It's fairly thin too, so it's not too obtrusive.
Works like a charm! 1 Dropped my phone more than i can imagine. 2 The edge still works. 3 I don't accidentally touch the edge with the bottom part/skin of my thumb when I type.
This one is cheaper I dont know why :p
So far for me only two screen protectors have worked, otterbox alpha glass and iq shield which has a lifetime warranty. There are tons of other good options but almost none of them will fit with a case.
iQ Shield https://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Protector-LiQuidSkin-Coverage-Anti-Bubble/dp/B01BG2EJYS
Otterbox Alpha glass https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00Z7RMJ1O/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487701283&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=otterbox+alpha+glass+s7+edge
My vote is for the Speck Candyshell, I have this case and love it. It's very minimalistic and does a great job protecting the side edges without completely covering them up, it's hard on the outside and soft/hard on the inside edges. I also put an Invisible shield on it but there is virtually no room for shield misalignment otherwise you'll get the case interfering with it.
I have three of these im my home. Works great with the fast charger. It was even cheaper when I purchased it (11.99). Fast Wireless Charger https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00XEP2IUS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_opnCybA03DC51
Not really. I have in the past, when I first got it. Just because I could and thought that was kind of neat. For two reasons though mainly. Number 1 because a shower is about a 5 minute max thing for me. It just doesn't take much time to wash head to toe. So no need for music or YouTube as some seem to do. But most of all, sometimes it's just nice to get away from the thing. I love tech but I'm also a fan of the days when I wasn't connected to everything every moment and could enjoy a shower or read a book in bed without interruption.
As for cases, I swear by this one.
Iam having troubles trying to work out what version is the Vr2 as people suggest i get that one, for the vents. Also seeing comments about the international version having focus problem,s. Does this seem ok.? Also wonder why the US version is almost double the price. https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Gear-VR-2016-International/dp/B01M0YDS2A/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485044961&sr=8-3&keywords=samsung+vr+headset+s7+edge
Thanks mate
I just bought a case with a built in screen protector. I couldn't care less about th3 edge screen BS so it doesn't matter to me that part of the edge is a little harder it hit sometimes. When I got the case I tested it with a few drops on my girls old s7edge that we don't use. Dropped it from my 2nd story roof 5 times with no damage at all. Great case but bulky.

Everything still good with the Commuter and the Tanaab? This is the same one you have correct? Amazon
I got the unicorn beetle from amazon. Cheap but built surprisingly well. It is designed with a bezel the clicks into place around the the front of the screen and holds down the edges to any screen protector you add.
I got the Zagg soft screen protector but I see the Yootech gets excellent reviews on Amazon for a fraction of the price.
I have a case and also want a screen protector (it's the first time I protect a phone this much!).
So I think I'm getting this one https://www.amazon.com/Protector-LiQuidSkin-Friendly-Coverage-Anti-Bubble/dp/B01HDPWVJC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1476377315&sr=8-1&keywords=iq+shield+s7+edge+case+friendly
It says case friendly so I'll give a try, and has good reviews, also have checked videos of it on Youtube. So far the catch is that you should wait like one day before puting your phone back in the case (after applying the screen protector).
Just a quick update; I'm rolling with this case for now. But still on the lookout for the one I originally described in this post.
I ended up getting this one instead: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01760LY1A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's got a screw you can manually tighten instead of the extremely tight automatic springs.
I just purchased this one: Aduro® U-GRIP PLUS Universal Bike, Motorcycle, Handlebar, Roll Bar Mount for all Smart Phones, Apple iPhone 6s / 6s Plus / 6 Plus / SE / 5 / 5S / 5C / 4 / 4S, Samsung Galaxy S3 / S4 / S5 / S6 / S7 / Edge / NOTE 2 / Note 3 / Note 4 / Note 5, Motorola Droid RAZR / MAXX, HTC EVO 4G, HTC One X, LG Revolution, GPS Holder (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V54CLNO/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_DCwHxb60SMXC9
Be here tomorrow, hopefully I'll be able to give it a try soon.
Also bought this one, but won't be here for a while: Roam Co-Pilot Universal Bike Phone Mount holder for Motorcycle / Bike Handlebars, iPhone 6/6s | 6/6s Plus | 5 | 5s | Galaxy S4/S5/S6 Edge | Note 5 | Holds phones To 4"in. Wide, Lifetime Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013MDDEDG/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_NDwHxb1X36VHC
I recently bought an armorsuit screen protector. The tempered glass protectors aren't really great for the s7 edge, mostly because I've heard that they don't stay on properly with the curved display. This one is pretty good quality, and it has a set up video that you can watch if you aren't an expert at applying screen protectors. Comes with the protector, cleaning/application fluid, a squeegee, and a microfiber cloth with instructions.
I'll give it a shot over there too. I don't know why its so much. Canada? This is the one I got. http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0188CP592/ref=cm_sw_r_other_udp_apa_fYfvxb60NRZCY lists s6. But I'm gonna assume it will work on a s7 edge.
Sorry, I'm a tard lol. Didn't even link it.

After a few days use out of it, I actually really really like it. Slim, not heavy, fits perfect, seems like it's good protection, good stand, screen is always covered so it won't get scratched in your pocket, and this one doesn't have a hole on the side to attach a lanyard (#1 dead giveaway that this isn't designed with women in mind). For $10, this is easily a great buy.
http://www.amazon.com/Abacus24-7-Galaxy-Edge-Case-Black/dp/B01BLECZE2
I first bought a Caseology case... Its ok. A little too slippery still for my liking. Then I bought a Trianium Clear case, didn't like the look. Just bought and received this one... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BLHLDI8/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_HyBbxb0F6448A and I absolutely love the clear back with black bumper. It makes it look like there's not even a case on it. Highly recommend!
I recently bought this one as my nightly charger and it works great. It's easy to line up, too.
You mean a bumper, something that doesn't cover the rear? I found this... Link.
It seems like what you're looking for but not rubber. I don't think a rubber only bumper will have enough strength on its own without backing to protect your phone. Maybe a tough plastic, but you may as well go with aluminum at that point.
I just bought this one and I like it a lot. It's got a slight fog to it that's more noticeable on whites, but I like it because it doesn't show smudges or fingerprints which irritates me even more. It's also the kind that "heals itself", so if you press into it with your fingernail it smooths itself back out after a few minutes!
I just got this case: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A7IDHOU?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00
Works well, and I still have edge functionality. I've been using the edge night clock, and with DND on I don't get any notifications. TBH I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I definitely do.
I have this style case on my nexus6 http://www.amazon.com/SUPCASE-Unicorn-Premium-Protective-Samsung/dp/B01BLIBS0A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1457556236&sr=8-2&keywords=Galaxy+S7+edge+supcase
and wireless charging works on it so I think i'm getting this one for my edge
Most caselogic and spigen work. Though the plastic ones from Caseology do not and they are thin. Seems to be if they are a hard plastic shell type case, it will interfere.
Both of these work: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A7IDCC2 http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A7IDHOU
Get the airdroid app and go to their website, you won't need any cable and I think its faster but try to get the version 4.1.2 because the last update don't work to me
I don't remember purchasing it but my play store shows it available for free. Are you sure it requires purchasing? You can also try gboard. That's free for sure and works very well. Swiftkey's advantage is nice customizations.
PS: link to swiftkey https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey
Yeah they changed that in the update. You used to have straight up access to emojis from the main screen of the keyboard. Now you have to tap the symbols key then press emoji button. If it bothers you a lot you could try switching to Swiftkey you can access the emojis by holding the return key on the keyboard or you can change the settings in swiftkey to give you a designated emoji button instead.
I have paid for both of these, i'm unsure if the links are free versions. Either way both are absolutely worthy of buying.
OLB looks like a multi-CSC firmware for South-East Asia. Long story short, multi-CSC firmwares are generic regional firmwares that include multiple different CSC codes that are specific to different countries.
You'll need to download Phone Info from the Play Store to see what exact firmware is active. You'll get your update whenever that country gets its update basically.
Download it when you get a chance and check the CSC code tab and I'll see if I can find where it's from. The active CSC is the important one.
Edit: CSC code tab, not Firmware tab.
There are a few apps in the playstore that allows you to go in and customize shortcuts for the tile settings
Tiles is what I personally use
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rascarlo.quick.settings.tiles
*Edit for link
For which function? I don't know of one that can replicate all of its panels like the CNN or weather feed. I liked using Swipepad for quick access to contacts and apps I use often. Not sure if that fits the bill. Dev hasn't updated that one in like a year though, if you find something better let me know.
There's no way to hide the icons without root, but there is a way to show the battery percent inside the battery: Battery Percent Enabler. I've used it with my Note 7 and now my S7E.
Had the same problem - download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures&hl=en - Allows you to set up gestures within any app for a number of functions, including pull down notifications - I have it set up from the left side
Maybe it's not usable everywhere and only in specific apps which are configured for the controller. Have you made that sure?
Also, there's these two apps which might be helpful, a compatibility checker and one that sets the controller up what it should do if you press specific buttons on it. Last one's helpful if the app isn't compatible with controllers, but requires root. So if you have root, try it with that app, if it doesn't work with that, you can be sure somethings wrong with the connection. (For trying if it works only, you can get the app refunded within 15 minutes after buying anyways)
I used the app iSyncr pro because I have multiple smart playlists. At first I spent a lot of time manually transferring over my songs and playlists. It worked but when I add new music, I would have to manually use USB to transfer the songs and added them to the appropriate smart playlist. With the app I can sync my entire iTunes library over wifi or USB.
In the app settings you can change the music's directory instead of the default folder 'syncr'.
