TouchPal is certainly not the only keyboard. It may have come pre-installed, but the standard Android keyboard is the Google one, Gboard.

This app actually gives you both a notification and a quick settings app to select so you don't need the other one.
I have been hearing that the latest update for Android Webview has issues. I just updated the app this morning and started having issues. I have had to force reboot my M8 about 5 times today because apps keep locking up the phone. I also have apps that will not open. The reviews for Android Webview on the play store are full of users having similar issues. Just sort the reviews by newest.
you won't need any crazy tools. HTC does have scary "removing this voids your warranty" stickers. I recommend ignoring them if your device is more than a year old.

If they are unclear as to what to do, print that out and ship with with the phone, and also send it to HTC support. It should help them along.
Please PM me if you run into issues, I might be able to help.
A shame you went through so many devices. Between purple camera / LCD replacements, I've personally had my hands on 3 M7s. My first had the purple camera, but the body was perfectly flush and worked flawlessly. The first replacement had a sub-par LCD screen (very yellow whites, colors were not as sharp as the original) which lead me to an XDA thread discussing how 4 different, not equal LCD panels are used in the M7. On top of that, the white trim on top completely protruded past the metal edges and was an absolute eyesore. I couldn't deal with both of those, so I called in for a second replacement. This device had a much better LCD panel than the first replacement (although still different than my original) but there was still a small area on the right side of the phone where the white trim and metal are not flush. Less than a mm, but still kind of irks me.
Hopefully, as HTC recovers, they invest more in their QA to avoid these issues in the future. I also think its bogus that they used 4 different LCD panels considering how much variation there is between them. I know this is a common practice, but the difference between the worse and best of the 4 is crazy.
Personally I'd much rather buy a midrange phone or a China phone than a One X. for less than 200 bucks you can get the Elephone p8000 which is only a few specs short of a new flagship phone. Note if you live in NA, it doesn't support LTE here, but a version that does support NA LTE has been announced and should be coming out shortly.
Yup, TouchPal is crap. here's the old keyboard APK, it should work on the U11.
There nothing wrong with well made adapters
These ones come recommended by Benson Leung (guy from Google who tests all the USB C cables on Amazon)
Use system UI tuner to make the icon disappear. You need to punch in some adb commands if you don't have root but that's easy with a computer and Google. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner
Custom ROM developers have brought Ambient Display to the 10 and probably will for the 11 as well. No raise to wake that I know of, but you could see if Gravity Screen works: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.plexnor.gravityscreenofffree&hl=en
If you get your hands on any Android phone, you can try to install the HTC gallery app and login and see if they're still there https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/htc-corporation/gallery-htc-corporation/
Doesn't seem to be any website or desktop app for the HTC gallery backup.
So your photos used to show up at photos.google.com on desktop but don't any more?
There's a variety of apps that will do it even faster than that for you, doing it straight through HTC as well. This one gives you the option to lock and unlock and automates the process for you. It has worked on my M8 and E8.
This is what I use for Music, apps, roms, titanium backups and nandroid backups and it works pretty well.
In the android app it can automatically backup photos taken as well, but I use the Google Photos app to back my photos up to the cloud for free. You can get unlimited cloud storage if you let Google compress the images. In my testing, I couldn't see any noticeable quality drop off when comparing the compressed backup images and the image on the device.
Download this
Select a folder in it to hide. Voilá
To unhide it, go back to the same menu and select "temporarily show hidden files/folders"
P.S. The App is entirely open source and doesn't save or send any info or require any kind of account or show any kind of ads.
You still have all the apps on your phone.
For example, to reinstall the HTC messaging app, just go to root/system/priv-app/message/message.apk
In the same way you can reinstall the other HTC apps.
I used Solid Explorer to see the root folder (you don't need root access) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.solidexplorer2
The see root folders enable the following setting in Solid Explorer:
1) swipe in from the left side of the app screen
2) tap on the settings cog
3) scroll down to other -> show root storage and make sure it is enabled
4) go back the the main app menu and swipe in from the left again, now tap on Storages -> Root -> system -> priv-app and then find which one you want to install. You can check if the app is already installed by opening the APK inside each folder and seeing if it asks you to install it (app is not installed) or whether it asks to update and existing application (app is already installed).
5) btw you need to open the apks using the package installer to install them, and you need the Install from Unknown Sources permission enabled for Solid Explorer to install apks from the root folder.
If you tell me which HTC app you want to install I can tell you which folder it's in, so you won't have to look for it (if the folder's name isn't obvious).
you can do this using substratum themes.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=projekt.substratum&hl=en_GB
and
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.zipalign.navbars&hl=en_GB
You can download the Google Photos app and set it up to automatically transfer all of your photos to the cloud without taking up any space in your Google Drive account. It'll go through your phone automatically and sync everything at a slightly reduced quality, but nothing really noticeable unless you're doing photo editing.
Dropbox and Onedrive have a similar feature, but I prefer the Google one personally.
EDIT: Link! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.photos
Only some people get the red tint. It's something to do with the panel manufactorer. Tianma is supposedly the good one, and Sharp the "bad" one. You can check which panel you have with this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.devcheck (under the hardware tab)
Try installing an FTP client on the phone. Connect with your PC/MAC and you'll have full access to the file structure.
ES File Explorer is an app I use for this. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop
Try AppOps by Droid mate. Surprisingly that worked for me (I'm on 5.0 though). https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droidmate.appopsinstaller AFAIK 4.4.2 still had AppOps. Install it and select 'Launch Stock App Ops' . Try it again if it doesn't launch the first time. As for rooting I've never owned an HTC device before so I'm sorry but I can't help you. I myself am looking up steps to root my device :P
This one allows you to tweak all the settings such as resolution, ISO, exposure, etc. Plus there's no bloatware or ads.
This one allows you to tweak all the settings such as resolution, ISO, exposure, etc. Plus there's no bloatware or ads.
Which one did you download? There are two architecture versions: armeabi-v7a & arm64-v8a install arm64-v8a version for the HTC. Link: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/device-health-services/device-health-services-1-11-0-259314730-release-release/device-health-services-1-11-0-259314730-release-2-android-apk-download/ worked for me.
If you are looking for the Adaptive Battery setting in "Settings" you need to install this apk first: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/device-health-services/ looks like HTC "forgot" to include it.
If you use kingo root it's actually ten times easier. You can also use their bootloader unlocking tool to do it as well. This automated the bootloader part, link , and then this one roots it for you
Its the flagship htc should've launched, but didnt. Its supposedly was the pixel 2 XL that google didnt pick.
You download the apk for the dialer for non nexus phones
This is the most recent version that works far as i know. I think there is a xda thread for this idea somewhere.
You can set it as the default phone app after installing by going to settings, apps, 3 dots top right, configure apps.
I just ordered an HTC 10 on Friday night from htc.com and when my account was charged but I hadn't received a shipping notification or tracking number I began to get a little concerned. Checked up on Digital River (who I believe is handling shipping for HTC in the U.S.) and now I'm REALLY concerned. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/www.digitalriver.com
Good luck to us both, I guess. I hope your U11 arrives soon and as ordered.
UPDATE: I used this link to contact HTC and they sent me links to my Order Details and, subsequently, a link to the Invoice page. I was told I needed to wait 5 to 7 days for the payment to transfer from PayPal to HTC so my order could be shipped. PayPal tells me HTC has ALREADY received payment.
I hate this feeling of being unsure about the security of my order, I don't think it's good customer service or ethical to accept payment before shipping. I clicked on the Cancel Order button (figured I'd just buy on Amazon later, Amazon has been good to me without fail) but, of course, that option was "unavailable." So we'll see what happens. Lesson learned, I guess.
I recommend Google Assistant. Siri seems to have fallen behind the times and GA has evolved into a very functional app, and continues to impress me with it's abilities. For a more indepth look at it's abilities, have a look here.
Don't mention it. The cid basically tells what region or carrier the phone was intended for. You can use this app to get the cid. Might find the original rom or at least compatible roms after that.
Yes, if your TV's remote is an ir type. There may be a resident app on your phone. There are better apps available on the Play Store. I used this one on my M8. No issues.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.remotefairy4
I know you have these:
But never seen those kind of cases
I broke my LCD (not glass) on my U11. So I ordered a screen from Amazon US.
This one: Amazon US link
I am not sure why you're not finding one. Maybe it's not available just in your country.
It came with glass and LCD. I replaced it myself and it's working pretty good for me. Just remember to use a glue to stick the phone back. Reusing the old peeled off glue will not keep the phoenwater resistant.
Hate adaptive icons so I recreated a Nougat-looking homescreen in Oreo. Launcher is Microsoft launcher. Perfect icon pack for the old HTC icons and app drawer icon. Select the HTC flip clock in the widgets, set the gestures for swipe up to open app drawer and swipe down for notification shade and you have a very HTC homescreen without the terrible icons. Another nice thing about MS launcher is that it allows you to turn off navbar when on the homescreen while Sense and Nova force navbar on when viewing the homescreen.
ES file manager is an option.
Read more here. But i'm sure it's not the only option out there.
Weird. If it's the phone, it will likely be the software controller on the audio jack.
Try installing Soundabout to override stock audio mixing...this has been a fix for other HTC 10 users with similar problems.
Its literally an installed app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.abtnprojects.ambatana&hl=en_US
Its saying 'earn money by making sales in letgo' (roughly translated)
So just go into the Play Store and uninstall it.

IQ sheild fits the screen exactly. Not glass, but has self healing and lifetime warranty. Also found on Amazon.
I myself use this as a case. No issues. Evocell armor case for htc u11 https://imgur.com/a/RIAbj (I don't use the holster)
Direct Link https://www.amazon.com/Evocel-Generation-Holster-Kickstand-EVO-HTCU11-XX01/dp/B073DFNG4T?th=1&psc=1
And, you can still use edge sense with it.
Had mine since U.S. launch. June 2017. Had a screen protector https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B072MSBFDK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1, but peeled after 2 weeks due to my case https://www.amazon.com/Evocel-Generation-Holster-Kickstand-EVO-HTCU11-XX01/dp/B073DFNG4T?th=1&psc=1
Didn't bother to put it back on/get a replacement. Other than micro scratches all over the screen. I have no other issues.
I'm also looking for a skin. I haven't found any at the moment, the closest I've found is this slim case on Amazon:
Get a screen protector. This device scratches VERY easily. Mine has a handful of micro scratches all over the screen. In under 3 weeks, since I had to remove my screen protector due to peeling. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B072MSBFDK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Yeah this case is bulkier than some. But it retains the squeeze feature. And gives you peice of mind if dropped (I luckily haven't dropped mine yet. Had it since June 16th.) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DFNG4T/ref=pe_825000_114665720_TE_item_image/142-1340119-7274156
My first had the seal come out, between the rear glass and frame. Just 10 days after ownership. Got a brand new replacement (got to keep all original accessories). One I'm currently using works fine. And I originally had a screen protector on it. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B072MSBFDK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But it started peeling near the bottom. So I took it off. 3 weeks later. I have SCRATCHES all over the screen. Not noticeable when screen is on. But when actually looking for them. I have like 6 or 7. Phones only been in empty pockets, and never placed on its face, or near sand. At first it was just 2 or 3. I seem to be picking up new scratches daily.
The glass Scratches SUPER easy. I don't give a fuck what the test show. Other than that. Phone is really nice. Don't know why companies feel all glass cell phones is a good thing. At least the essential phone has a titanium build. I originally thought my phone would at least hold up, till I got a replacement protector. But it just took a matter of days. Not easily noticeable. But annoying none the less.
You can look into a Skin of sorts to hold the back together for the time being. A clear one may make it look cool. Assuming it has a sort of cool look to it. Sorry about that happening OP. but I agree, it's a great device. But build quality is sorta iffy. That's why I have this case on mine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DFNG4T/ref=pe_825000_114665720_TE_item_image/142-1340119-7274156
Squeeze feature is still useable, so I got that at least.
My original one had the rear seal between the rear glass and frame. Just randomly come out on its own, just 10 days after I received it.
Current one is fine. (got brand new one as a replacement free of charge, got to keep all original accessories from the first one as well).
But I had to remove my screen protector due to peeling. And the screen scratches SUPER easy. It's only ever been in empty pockets, and never placed on its face. I have several micro scratches all over the screen. New ones just keep popping up. Have no idea how. Not visible with the screen on. But can be seen if it's off, and held a certain way. Charges bed side on a carpeted floor. Have this case on it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DFNG4T/ref=pe_825000_114665720_TE_item_image/142-1340119-7274156
Other than that, phones really good though.
I've been using this screen protector. When I first put it on I had one corner that didn't sit well, but after a few hours and pressing it down the screen is now 100% adhered with no bubbles or lifting.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0716Y9SGC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
For case I have this one. It's OK, there isn't anything wrong with it per say. The button action is good. I guess i wish it had a little more texture to the back for balancing on fingers as using the phone in one hand. I was also interested in the octane case.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07234FLGX/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B072MSBFDK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is what I have. Works EXACTLY as described.
Case I got for mine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DFNG4T/ref=pe_825000_114665720_TE_item_image/142-1340119-7274156
[2-Pack] HTC U11 / U 11 Tempered Glass Screen Protector, [Full Screen Coverage] Supershieldz, Anti-Scratch, Anti-Fingerprint, Bubble Free, Lifetime Replacement Warranty (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071G8J69W/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1f3AzbPGRQNYM
I use this with the case. Has a black border around it and minimal gap between the case lip and the protector
I ordered this case. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DFNG4T/ref=pe_825000_114665720_TE_item_image/142-1340119-7274156 And a screen protector too. But since I don't have prime. It'll be like 5-12 days till I recieve them.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B072MSBFDK/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 both for roughly $18
I'm using this clear one that lets me see the back of the phone. In the front, the edges are slightly raised so that you can set it down face down and the screen does not make contact. It's practical enough so that I'm taking my chances and not using a screen protector for the first time ever. https://www.amazon.com/Spigen-Crystal-Protection-Premium-Clarity/dp/B0728937FV/ref=sr_1_2?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1499465508&sr=1-2&keywords=u11+case+liquid
Welcome. It's like a Zagg invisible shield. Same concept. Military grade. Lifetime warranty. When I put it on my replacement U11. It's hard to take a photo, of it on. You can barely tell it's there.
Not glass. But in my experience with Zagg brand. (what this is very similar too) it will protect your screen, And semi absorbs impact as well.
Works really good with my phone. Pretty much covers everything up till the edge of my case. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073DFNG4T/ref=pe_825000_114665720_TE_item_image/142-1340119-7274156 (yes is sqeezeable, only one of its type so far, to actually have the rear mic cutout on it.) in hind sight I should of just got blue..but the red isn't too bad. It's a very good case actually.
And cut outs are perfectly placed. I believe another redditor also has this screen protector. But a full body. (front and back. (Zagg used to do that as well, back in the day).
It actually molds to your screen. As opposed to having to be cut perfectly to fit.
I've been using this one and it has been great. It feels very high quality especially since it has a braided outer shell.
Spigen Full Cover Glass HTC 10 Screen Protector with Tempered Glass for HTC 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GQNTWOE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_KXxryb3G697B1
This one covers the entire front.i personal don't like it.
I was looking to try to repair my old M8 mostly for fun and to see if I could. It looks like you can buy replacement parts for just a few dollars on Amazon and a few other sites I found through Google that looked legit.
Here is the charging port on Amazon for example.
I bought this SanDisk Extreme PLUS 128 GB up to 95MB/s Class 10 U3 microSDXC Memory Card with SD Adapter https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01DYN56OY
It handles read/write of 4k video on the HTC 10 with no problems.
Would definitely recommend!!! I
This was suggested in an earlier thread. I've already ordered it myself. It's got decent reviews and looksto be a fair price.
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01INKSUMI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got a couple cases:
Diztronic Full Matte TPU Slim-Fit
Amasell TPU Faux Leather Bumper
Currently prefer the second one. You can read my review of it over at Amazon.
Make sure to research any additional cables you may buy...
With that said, definitely pick up a QC3 charger. Also, get a glass screen protector that covers all of the screen, not just 85% of it like the one I bought. I like my case (https://www.amazon.com/Spigen®-Hybrid-PREMIUM-Premium-Protective/dp/B01DAN1XPE/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1470964158&sr=1-3&keywords=htc+10+case). These headphones are also really good (https://www.amazon.com/Bose-SoundSport--ear-headphones-Charcoal/dp/B0117RFPCC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1470964211&sr=8-1&keywords=bose+android+earbuds).
I bought this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01DAN1T4E Fits great and doesn't add much 'bulk' to the phone. Never bother with a screen protector, don't see the point with the phone having Gorilla Glass.
I bought this and I'm really impressed so far. I've bought over a dozen type-B chargers and never really been happy, but this one is thick, fast, and only $7 in the US:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B2OA44Y/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got similar off amazon, currently sitting on my table feels really nice. http://www.amazon.com/Tauri-Scratch-Resistant-Flexible-Protective/dp/B01DK40VHO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462462641&sr=8-1&keywords=htc+10+clear+tpu+case
I've ordered a Spigen case, but phone not due to arrive till the 6th (UK) so don't know hoe it will affect the thickness. I always get a case to protect my phones. Never had a cracked screen or borken phone so far, touch wood.
I got a 2-pack of these Mr Shield glass protectors and they work, no halo. But...they cover the exact width of the viewable screen, so installation has to be perfectly straight, or you'll end up with halo on one side. Top and bottom are fine.
BTW, can people please stop bitching about glass screen protectors "not covering the entire screen!?!" If people don't realize by now that 2.5D screens aren't going to support glass screen protectors edge-to-edge, then you're just stupid and need to get out of the cell phone game. If you want glass, you're gonna have to "settle" for ones that only cover the flat portion of the screen. And my god, what are you worried about anyway? Scratching the screen on that 8th of an inch that isn't covered? If that's the case, you need to get a flip phone. /rant
Umm, no. Rice absorbs almost no moisture at room temperature (see http://www.payetteforward.com/my-iphone-got-wet-what-do-i-do/2/). What you're doing by leaving it in an uncovered bowl of rice is nearly identical to just leaving it out on the counter. If you have instant rice it will act as a very mild dessicant, but standard rice is just a placebo.
The best way to get 90% of the water out is to just leave the phone out in the open with a fan blowing on it, assuming that your indoor humidity isn't too high (If you have either your furnace or air conditioner running, your indoor humidity should be fine). A room full of indoor air can absorb a huge amount of moisture.
Once the phone is mostly dry from sitting out, you can put it in a very low humidity environment to get out the last of the moisture. This means sealing it with a strong dessicant -- something way more powerful than rice. Your best bet is to get some calcium chloride (if you live in a snowy area hardware stores will sell it as a deicer or ice melt, otherwise you can get it in the canning section of a supermarket where it's sold as "Pickle Crisp"). If you can't get CaCl, you can also get a reactivatable silica gel cartridge such as http://www.amazon.com/Hydrosorbent-OSG-40-Dehumidifier-Desiccant-Chloride/dp/B015OT106O. Wrap the phone in a handkerchief or hand towel and seal the it in an airtight container or jar with the silica gel or calcium chloride for a few days.
I've had good experience with Skinomi and used their products on a few phones. Not 100% sure about their tempered glass since I generally use wet applicant screen protectors.
This is the one I got -
Although they use a slight dotted buffer on the flat back part of the case, the chamfered edges are fully clear and smooth. The dotted buffer will likely diffract some light from the very back of the phone. My wife has this exact same brand and style case on her One A9 and its been really good for hers. Good snug fit.
I got myself a Spigen Ultra Hybrid Crystal Clear case off Amazon.
For my Moto X, I've been using the Zagg Invisible Shield HD, but I'm gonna try out a glass screen protector for the 10. So I ordered a 2 Pack of Mr. Shield 9H tempered glass screen protectors from Amazon.
I ordered this case until one I like better comes along. I really like the Urban Armor Gear cases: http://www.amazon.com/EasyAcc-Silicon-Transparent-Protector-Shockproof/dp/B01BRD1WXW?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01 and these glass screen protectors: http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Safodo-Anti-Scratch-LIFETIME-WARRANTY/dp/B01E0PZKZK?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s01
I also ordered a spigen case today as well.
I ordered this case until one I like better comes along. I really like the Urban Armor Gear cases:
and these glass screen protectors:
You could always snag one of these for when you are at the boat and use a normal case when you're not:
Here's the case I got:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IMBU8C4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I don't even need a screen protector with it since case's lips come out just a tad. You may still choose a screen protector, but I wouldn't know what to recommend. I actually don't feel like I need one with this case. I've had it for a year now with no problems.
I've seen quite a few of these on Amazon. There are the slim line types and the more bulky ones for sale.
The bulky one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00L9C638Q?psc=1
The slim line one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00J7MYKZS?psc=1 but this doesn't appear to have a wallet facility in it.
Yup, got this afterwards: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007X4XS3C/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It has a matte backing like the phone so it's pretty nice instead of the cheap slick/shiny stuff. You get used to the added thickness pretty quickly.
Congrats!
You can try this case if you want to get something like what you had.
After looking at all of the wallet cases available on Amazon, none of them really looked like they'd be very practical to use. I really wanted a flip style case though, so I went ahead and ordered this one: http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-FlipBook-Black-Manufacturer-Warranty/dp/B00BKOWJCC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367737516&sr=8-1&keywords=poetic+htc+one Still have to carry a wallet but I like the screen protection that flip style cases provide. It hasn't arrived yet, but it has 4.5 stars on Amazon.
I bought a couple of these as soon as I got my One-V. They're a great fit and protect the handset really well. Should definitely prevent losing the back panel and much nicer looking than a piece of tape IMO.
You can download this app which changes the system language to anything you like! My HTC One M9 doesn't have Japanese built into the phone but once I downloaded this, literally everything is Japanese and there's so many other languages. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.c_lis.ccl.morelocale
You mean the Hangouts dialer?
Works fine for me. Well, there's a pretty bad latency, so I don't use it but it does make and receive calls.

I use diskusage to find out where all my large files are. That will probably point out where the issue is coming from and you can make a decision on what to do from there
It's a pretty weird question to be asking, in honesty. I think what you meant by that is "how to take proper care of the battery in your phone so you are able to have it perform as well as possible for as long as possible". If that's the case, you can take a look at Accubattery by Digibites on the Play Store. This app allows you to monitor your battery usage, discharge/charge speeds and rates, and also provide tips for you to maximize your battery lifespan by reducing battery wear per charge. :)
Here's the link! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery
That's probably what happened with the apk installers. The CCleaner app works just like the Boost+ app the other user mentioned (not sure if boost+ is available for the M8). It'll go through and delete old cache files and temp files that get left behind.

I found this app called 'MoreLocale 2' it somehow manages to change the phone language to any you want :)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.co.c_lis.ccl.morelocale&hl=en_GB
I had the same problem as my old M7 had loads of language options and my M9 now only has a few. Now my M9 is in Japanese :)
I have had this app for years. You can use it to see what apps are actually running and how much CPU they are using. I recently used it when my M8 started acting up and discovered that my CVS pharmacy app was using 70% of the CPU while doing nothing. Quick uninstall (and a few choice words in a review) and everything is fine. There's no reason your phone shouldn't run as well as the day you bought it. Mine does.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.devcheck (you can check which panel you have with this app) I'm from Europe and I'm ready to be disappointed. AT LEAST WE GET THE EARBUDS AM I RIGHT
edit: i checked this thread and some eu customers got the tianma version http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/poll-panel-htc-10-main-s820-variant-t3370972/page2
I am not sure what app I used last time I backed up my SMS messages, but it was an app something like this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.idea.backup.smscontacts&hl=en
It's a shame Android users don't thing like itunes that's a all in one solution.
You might find luck using this to force Doze mode:

I've never used it personally but it gets decent ratings and thats one of the supposed non-root features. Also, what software version are you on in Settings > About > Software information > Software number?
Ah bummer. I saw this on the play store and thought maybe someone had made something similar with the new sense clock

Found the culprit:

I have no recollection of installing this shit but now I've uninstalled it.
I'm leaving this post for others with the same problem. Could be interesting to know how this POS found it's way onto my HTC.
I sadly don't have one... I looked a few months ago but was unable to find something.
There was a way to export Facebook contacts as a list that Google contacts could import. Problem here is that the numbers aren't updated if they make changes on their Facebook profile.
But, I use this app to sync favebook photos to my contacts: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.michaelflisar.socialcontactphotosync
I don't know why Microsoft would limit an Android app to a specific (competing) manufacturer. The website says it is compatible with Android 4.4+; no mention of any device specific limitations.

I had already blocked HTC Sense Home notifications with AppOps (using Native AppOps). I'm not rooted. Haven't received the ad.
I've been using this app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.ampere ) to find what charger and cable Combo I have works the best. It has worked great for me. On a side note the HTC charger that comes with the HTC one m9 is not a Qualcomm quick charge 2.0. Good thing is that they cheap and worth the money.
My power button recently decided to stop working, so I can get you an app to help with the locking and unlocking portion.
This app uses your phones proximity sensor and accelerometer to detect when your phone is in your pocket.
~~linkme: gravity screen~~
Edit: so, we don't have the play store linker bot? Oh well.

Sounds like it's just a swipe input method.
You can swap the keyboard out for any one you'd like. I recommend Google's.
If you got the live wallpaper from the Play Store, it should still be in your downloads or whatever. Not installed but all.
I used this one back in the day...

Currently still on KK but I use QuickShortcutMaker to get the easter egg. Works with any launcher.
Once everything loads up, go to the activities tab, scroll to System UI and tap to open it. More "System UIs" show up, but you want the one with the subtitle "Dessert Case". Tap it and edit some of the shortcut settings and press create to add it to your homescreen.
