The free version has a good variety of the symbols but you'll have to pay to get them all. Personally, I use the free one and it serves me well for the most part.
I've been using this app to write IPA texts on my phone, but I'm having problems with the app. More specifically, here's my review of the app:
> I've had a lot of problems with the long-press menus being cropped and not being able to type certain letters on the menus or exit them. Additionally, the app hasn't been updated in a year and a half, and the email provided in developer information is broken (I got an auto-reply "Your message couldn't be delivered to because the remote server is misconfigured"). If I knew where I could get another IPA keyboard that is language-agnostic (lets me type phonemes not found in English) or that draws over the current app instead of requiring me to exit said app (I use the IPA on Reddit and Google Docs frequently), I would switch.
Does anyone else know of a better solution?
I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you, I grabbed it straight off Wikipedia because it's easier that way (and I also know that I am not imagining things). But theoretically, an IPA keyboard app doesn't sound too far-fetched.
Google gives some good results if you search for "phonetic alphabet keyboard app". Maybe this one is what you are looking for: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edwardgreve.ipakeyboard&hl=en
Multiling is good (very customizable and all) but its IPA keyboard is not very great. Lacking a lot of symbols (e.g. most diacritics, many superscripts…). This one here is the best IPA keyboard for Android I’m aware of. Has all the common symbols and diacritics in the free version, and if you pay for it also a lot of rarely used IPA extensions.
On computer I use unicode/ascii key combinations and custom keymap. On smartphones I use these two apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edwardgreve.ipakeyboard

Old thread but I don't really like Gboard's, at least not compared to IPA Keyboard. If you know basic IPA it's more convenient than Gboard, imo
Hey there /u/Synthetikull219
Your post has been removed as per rule 8.
On android, I use this application which I think is paid, but I got it when the dev was doing a giveaway on r/linguistics. It's never lacked anything for me, I don't think.
Have the best of days,

> Sorry for no IPA, I'm on mobile.
Are you on Android? If so, I stumbled across this keyboard and it's been a lifesaver for me.
This looks good to me. It seems that you'll have to go into your main, system settings to change the keyboard instead of doing it from the app, as it says.
Edit: It seems that a small payment is needed to unlock some of the characters.
I use this add on on Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.edwardgreve.ipakeyboard
Try this one if you want. I think it's pretty good...
I prefer this but it's cool that they added it to the default one.
On android I use this ipa keyboard, you could give that a try

Gboard recently added an IPA keyboard, at least for Android (not sure about iOS). After trying IPA Keyboard and Multiling O, and having problems with those apps, I highly recommend Gboard over the others.
When I'm on my laptop, I use this site.
You just have the wrong keyboard app
