follow the material design guidelines, and understand that just about every element is meant to be at a minimum 8dp apart for the other. this creates a well structured grid.

I'm making a separate comment because it's a separate suggestion, but I love using the Keyline Pushing app which shows an 8dp grid over your entire screen so you can make sure things align according to spec and align the way you want them to, instead of eyeballing it.
There is Keyline Pushing to display a grid overlay to double check your alignments according to the different Material Design grid baseline.
You've probably heard of Keyline Pushing:

The app seems to work great. I'm not on the game right now so I didn't try transferring stuff but I'll try that later.
As an UX designer, one major gripe is the size of buttons and tabs, everything is so tiny it's barely possible to tap on them. The ones on the top are small but since you can swipe between characters is not a major problem, but the bottom tabs are just ridiculously small. They end up very close to the back button on many devices, so it's very easy to leave the app by mistake when you're trying to switch tabs.
This image shows in blue the difference between the size of your bottom tabs, and the minimum recommended tap target area for buttons and other interactive controls, according to the official Android design guidelines (you can check it out yourself using the excellent Keyline Pushing app).
That problem aside, the app works great. I look forward to try it in game. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
