Brain training exercises such as Dual N-Back will improve your memory and intelligence.
After some time you can really feel the difference. I used to get the feel of a lazy brain a lot, now my smart muscles feel snappy like my brain age has been halved.
I try to accumulate 20-30 minutes of this every day, about 5 minutes per session.
OK, so the not making the eyes bleed part is subjective.
I just deployed the app to the google store and I thought the community here would appreciate.
I first learned about Dual N-Back from /r/nootropics and have been playing the game for ages and noticing significant improvements in my memory and cognition. However I was frustrated by how poor the implementations of the game on Android seemed to me. For those who have never learned about this cognitive-enhancing tool, gwern's website is a great place to start
So here it is! A brand new implementation of Dual N-Back on Android. It currently supports both Single and Dual N-Back up to N=10.
My experience is that caffeine and theanine both help while playing this game. I will be experimenting with Dual N-Back and cannabis in the near future, though I expect it will be an unproductive combination. Meditation also seems to enhance the game experience and effects and vice-versa, especially concentration mediation "Shamatha".
Your feedback is appreciated I would like to know what you want me to prioritize from the following development goals: implement sound, triple n-back, n>10 (up to how much?), google games implementation and social media sharing.
I can't find a lot of credible scientific evidence behind most brain training apps/systems, personally most of it seems like placebo and advancement on the learning curves of specific tasks.
From the literature and from personal experience, I believe that Dual N-Back (I use it on android but there should be decent iOS versions) actually produces measurable results and noticeable impact on my memory and intelligence.
So there's this app for Android I use every day for at least an hour.
It's called the dual N-back game and it's the only brain training app that I know based on actual scientific research.
The game is really challenging and has a steep learning curve, or at least a getting-good curve. You can learn more about the game itself, how it is played and why it works in improving IQ and memory at http://www.gwern.net/DNB%20FAQ
I am currently playing dual 4-back and have a best score of 25, how much do you guys get? I don't know how much of it is placebo but I feel my mind is much more agile than it used to be and I believed the game has helped me a lot.
