One thing that might work if you have a phone with USB Type C is a USB-B to USB-C cable. Then you can connect the 'brute to your phone and use whatever app can send CC codes.
Maybe something like this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.bordero.midicontroller
Go with Wifi or USB.
If you don't have Wifi your Macbook can create a Wifi network.
If you don't care about cable and want to eliminate latency as much as possible Android can send Midi messages via USB, although I don't know if any app can do it. This app can do it.
External USB controllers can be connected to Circuit without a computer using a MIDI USB Host such as the Kenton MIDI USB Host MkII or iConnectMIDI4 (the iConnectMIDI2 and Keith McMillen Instruments MIDI Expander do NOT work).
