I've been using Midnight on one of my devices. Do you know if it only applies a layer or if it actually filters colors?
You could try this extension, it allows you to "set dark" what you are looking at, but what it actually does is show you the negative of that tab, so if you are looking at something black, it will appear white.
Another cool extension is dark reader, this one have a los of options like turning brightness down, change contrast, make grey scales or using sepia colors.
The first two work in computer, for your phone you coul try midnight, this one doesn't actually changes color but it adds a filter so it looks less bright.

I use Midnight. It has scheduled on/off times, filter color options, and customizable brightness.
