In Denmark we use Mobile Pay, most stores have regular credit card machines + a NFC/QR brick for the mobile payment. Best thing it's just linked up to your credit card.
In Denmark we have an Android Pay-ish thing called MobilePay. You can use NFC with that in order to pay with your phone in-store.
The other redditors already gave you useful advice, but let me also add some things. I moved to Aalborg in September 2017 to start my masters, and I have only had positive experiences so far, let it be the education, the Danes or just everyday life.
First of all, based on my experience the international accommodation office offers apartments at a higher price, compared to e.g. AKU or apartments that you could find on your own, but you can try and see what they have for you. I think your lectures will be at the eastern campus, which is located at Aalborg Øst, and that is an area of the city that is developing really fast right now. I would either recommend to rent a place really close to where your lectures will be held, or downtown, close to where the students actually have something to do in their free time. Roommate in Aalborg and Aalborg Students Accommodation Group are two options where you can look, but watch out for scams! If your plan is to stay in the city or the area near by in the long run, you can subscribe to waiting lists for apartments at Bo i Nord (for a yearly cost of 200 DKK), which collects 9 housing organizations at North Jutland.
Studenderhuset is a really nice gathering place (not only) for students, you should definitely give it a chance, you can even get discount on a few things with your student card. After you arrive and get all of your paperwork done, you should get a Rejsekort and MobilePay, like seriously I use them all the time. As far as I know, the danish banks only allow you to open a danish bank account if you can show them a working contract, maybe there are some exceptions, but be prepared for that. You can sign up for Danish courses at Sprogcenter Aalborg, where you would have to pay 1500 DKK deposit before you can start, and then 2000 DKK for each module. There are 5 modules, which last longer and longer as the difficulty level increases. It is really helpful to study in groups and to have a native speaker teacher, you can also rent books and movies from their library in the city centre, and there are volunteers there with whom you can practice the language if you feel like it.
I hope you find at least some of these things helpful! Good luck with your masters and welcome to Aalborg!
