I used this app, (£2.50) and recommend it to so many people! Has a ridiculous amount of practice questions and like 50+ Hazard Perception clips to practice on.
Best of luck when you go for the real thing!
Have you tried using an app on your phone or tablet? I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt which is for Android, but I'm sure there's the same sort of thing for iphones. It's got a selection of videos etc for the hazard perception test, and there's a free version to try. I passed first time, and it was really helpful particularly knowing how the videos work. Not sure you'd get that from a book?
I used this one thanks to /u/unimind80 and nothing else. Went through it all over a couple of hours on Saturday and 4 or 5 hazard perception videos on it, and got 48/50 and 66/75 on Monday.
Not sure what phone you have, but this app on Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt was super useful. Has loads of questions, mock tests and hazard perception tests. I've been doing this a dozen times a day since booking my theory earlier this week.
The hazard test is good as it gives you the indicators afterwards as to were the maximum points where and the lengths of time you get. Can be useful.
It's a tough one but you've clicked when it was a "potential hazard" before it became a "developing hazard" (or whatever their particular wording is) it's a bit of a sham IMHO. There's a couple of them that are total BS.
I used one of the apps (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt) to train myself to pass the test rather than anticipate hazards in the real world.
You'll get it on the next one, provided you leave your frustration at the door.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt is what i used. Has everything you need - the questions were the same but worded differently if that makes sense?
The only thing it didnt have was the case study where you read a paragraph and answer questions based off it - simple stuff though!
I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt&hl=en_GB
Has all the material, one off purchase, and you can do it all on the move or on the john etc!
Well if money isn't an issue and you really have your heart set out for it then go for it! Life's too short anyway.
I haven't ridden on my CBF yet, did a gear conversion a few weeks ago and then ordered it last week. Going to pick it up next weekend so I'm super stoked. In terms of how long I'll keep it for....I'm not sure really, it depends how quickly I take to riding (and knowing how my first CBT went, I'm no longer going to make assumptions about my learning speed :P ). Ideally I don't want to keep it too long incase I develop too many bad habits before doing my DAS but on the other hand I don't want to dispose of it early since that would be waste of insurance money. So if I were to take a guess probably 8-12 months?
The app I used was this one, not sure if its on iOS but here's the Google play link anyway https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt&hl=en_GB
Was all I needed really, including a pretty neat Hazard Perception section.
I used this, it's very good and I passed my test first time. For the cost of a pint you can't go wrong. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.deepriverdev.motorcycle.hpt
I used this one, cheaper, and all the same stuff including hazard perception
