I wish they would just copy the swipe controls from music boss, those little buttons are so hard to hit without looking, driving, etc.
Edit: figure I'd post a link, I have no affiliation with the dev but I think he deserves some love he's been updating the app for over 4 years at this point, and its by far the most intuitive music controls available on wear. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.rebootsramblings.musicbossforwear
Yeah, you can see the playlists if you're playing off of your phone but it only selects that playlist to start playing you can't actually select which song to start at. Music Boss allows you to see your track time; but I agree these are glaringly obvious features to have in a music app and seem exceedingly simple to implement.
Unfortunately not possible BUT there is an app I'm using for a year and a half on my watch that is called Music Boss For Android Wear which let's you change the song by swiping to the left and the app stays open all the time you are listening music even when watch goes into dim mode. It's less steps than waking up watch, pulling up card, swiping left and pressing the button.
It's so easy I do it without even looking at my watch.
I have Dropzone Management too (don't know what it does)! Spotify doesn't show up in it, though.
Try these, see if they fix your issue:
-Make sure the Android Wear app on your phone has notification access.
-Make sure Spotify and the Android Wear app are exempted from Battery Optimization (if EMUI 2.3 has that).
-Try deleting the Android Wear app from your phone and installing an old version APK of Android Wear from APKMirror (in the 1.x series maybe). This didn't delete any data for me when I did this recently, but YMMV.
Alternatively, you can give up and download a third-party music control app for your watch, like Music Boss.
MusicBoss is the hotness for music control. I use it while running and for volume & track change commands there's no need to look at the watch due to awesome swipe commands. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.rebootsramblings.musicbossforwear
I would recommend trying out Music Boss to control your music as it's a lot easier than using the notification. :)
Any Android Wear watch will meet your requirements so it's just down to aesthetics & personal preference. My tip for music control is to use Music Boss as you can change track & volume without looking at the watch (simple swipe gesture). It works really well when running. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ca.rebootsramblings.musicbossforwear
This third party music controller lets you like/dislike songs in GPM, don't know about YouTube Music.

So the app maker who made the pebble app I used for this makes an Android Wear version.
It's called Music Boss it does cost but I gladly payed him. You have to install it on your watch and a companion app on the phone but it works well though if you already have trouble getting through a day in the battery it will likely affect your runtime.
> Which watch do you have?
LG G Watch
> Do you regret purchasing it or wish you purchased a different watch?
No I don't and at the time I purchased mine there was either Gear Live or LG G Watch
> How much did you pay for it?
Around 250€ on Ebay but that was just a day after the official launch at 2014 Google I/O
> How much would you pay now for it?
Probably no more than 50€?
> What is your most and least favorite feature?
My most favorite feature is dealing with notifications and controlling my Music. The least one would be...hmm...can't think of one. :(
> What would make Android Wear even better?
More dedicated apps to make it more useful as it's just unfair how many apps Apple Watch gets where we still don't have a watch app officially from Evernote, Instagram etc.
> What do you think a fair price range would be for new Android Wear devices?
No more than 250€ for sure. Somewhere from 150-250.
> Are you envious about a feature that other Android Wear devices or other ecosystems (e.g. Tizen or wearOS) have?
No I'm not I'm actually glad using the simple Android Wear OS than Tizen.
> How often do you use your device?
All the time, I check the weather, do the reminders, control the music and reply or send a new text to people quickly.
> Would you purchase a new Android Wear device? If so, what would it take for you to buy one - a better model? Your current watch breaking? Anything else?
I think I would gladly switch to Huawei watch as it looks really nice but since I can't afford it and I'm more than happy with the functionality of my watch so it serves me good enough.
> Is there any lesser-known app or feature that you use that's really helpful?
Hmm maybe Music Boss app to control your music in very beautiful way and Google Keep to quickly check shopping list for example.
Check out music boss, swipe up for volume, back and forward for skipping, tap to pause. link
