The telematics service is called CarWings, and is included in the price of the vehicle when buying the SV/SL trim (at least for 3 years, but no one is paying for it yet, afaik). It's not available on the base (S) model.
It's worth it if you're interested in preheating/cooling the cabin (time based, or started via app), or controlling the charging process remotely. You can have up to 2 charging schedules (called 'timers'), or start the process manually via the app.

You should be able to install the app and play with it in demo mode.
The app can be buggy, and I haven't seen any new real features since launch (they updated the look a little, but that's it), so it's a little stale, but it does the job.
Just keep in mind that CarWings relies on the AT&T 2G network, which is going away in 2017, and Nissan hasn't announced yet what it will be doing with existing vehicles.
