If you use Openvpn you can use openvpn tasker plugin to add connecting/disconnecting in tasks. I use it to automatically connect when I have certain apps open.
The OpenVPN Plugin for Tasker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ffrog8.openVpnTaskerPlugin&hl=en) gives you all kinds of options. If you want to control connect/disconnect/check connection status with Tasker, then using PIA through the OpenVPN app with the OpenVPN Tasker Plugin is definitely the way to go. If all you want to do is connect, then I guess you can keep using PIA with a Tasker script. It really comes down to how much control you want. Connect only? PIA. Connect/Disconnect/Status/etc.? PIA through OpenVPN w/ OpenVPN Task Plugin.
Tasker with same app but with this plugin, Tasker can also manage Wireguard tunnels natively with the app.
Other clients may have shortcuts, you'd need to check (Tap Action > Shortcuts > Navigate to your VPN client).
If it's Android built-in, not sure.
This is what is use to toggle my VPN
I imagine you would use AutoNotification to capture when Spotify is playing to trigger this.

Trigger on wifi not my home sssid. Use the plugin linked above to trigger the vpn connection.
Of you use xposed then the “auto vpn dialog confirm” module. It will prevent that annoying popup
I'm using the official OpenVPN app and then for Tasker, I'm using the OpenVPN Tasker Plug-in.

The profile is just a simple check for which wifi I'm connected to. If at home, it's disconnected, otherwise it's connected.
Use this plugin; https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ffrog8.openVpnTaskerPlugin
If you intent from Tasker, it'll make the OpenVPN client vulnerable to being intented by anything on your phone due to Tasker not supporting startActivityForResult() - OpenVPN client will wildcard the allowed apps.
If your vpn app support automation you can use app =youtube task is vpn active and at exit of task vpn disable. Adguard is an example described in this page , but it depends on your vpn app as I said. https://kb.adguard.com/en/android/solving-problems/tasker
Another possibility if your vpn support openvpn , you can use the profile compatible with openvpn ( ovpn file) to connect using the android app openvpn and after that use this tasker plugin to automate things https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ffrog8.openVpnTaskerPlugin
I'd have a play with OpenVPN and this Tasker plug-in.

It worked well last time I tried it. You can also add shortcuts to connect specific VPNs as widgets on your homescreen, then have Tasker launch those. Kill the VPN process to disconnect. This is not as clean as the plugin, but it also works most of the time.
I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ffrog8.openVpnTaskerPlugin
Be sure you have it set to connect the VPN once you lose the wifi and disconnect when wifi reconnects not just open the app
I don't use Opera VPN, but there's a plugin called OpenVPN Tasker Plugin that lets you automate connections using the OpenVPN app.
Sorry if that's not exactly what you're looking for.
I wouldn't use that VPN anyway, it's less than optimal for privacy (source), there's plenty of cheap and trustworthy options that you can purchase and use with the OpenVPN Android client.
Which type of VPN do you use? If you use OpenVPN then there's a plugin you could use. Probably others for other VPN protocols.
Yup it's very easy to do with this Tasker plugin.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
This plugin?
Below is just some very basic knowledge.
OpenVPN is not technically a VPN like ZTO but is a client that can be used with VPN providers - so you may want to have a search to see if you can use it with ZTO.
With OpenVPN, two of the easiest methods is to either use intents as seen here or one of the tasker plugins like this one.
If you go down the ZTO API route then please bear in mind it will be a fairly steep learning curve for your first time so you may want to do some research or forum posts so as to discover others that have already used it. To manage the API in Tasker, most would use AutoWeb and there is a basic guide here.

I love it! But, despite having several Czech friends, don't think my pronunciation skills would ever be good enough. I count myself lucky that I don't have to learn all the intricacies of the English language so fair play to you for being so good at it!
Maybe you could use a tasker plugin with automate. That would be 10 times easier.

What VPN are you connecting to? If you're using OpenVPN you could use a plugin like this one.
