You are right that a secure, counterfeit proof system is not the only bullet we need to shoot at the big giants to shoot them down. Sure I also could develop a Ethereum based ticket proof-system that no one uses in one week - but that would not help anyone .. It would just be another PoC ( or proof of the obvious ) that no one will use. Can you tell me what systems you where referring to with "have developed similar tickit systems as you describe"? I have not seen anyone developing a system like I describe - otherwise I could stop - use it - and spend my time doing other tings. I have seen some people talking about it ( and yes I was aware of the blog post ) - and just recently ICOs with a really flawed plan in this direction ( http://blocktix.io ) I am making apps for users ( e.g. have a look here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ligi.passandroid ) I want this problem to be solved so I think there is a chance here ..
Google Pay handles loyalty card decently, and for stuff that uses the iOS pkpass/Passbook format, PassAndroid works well for my needs.
Maybe Google added support for that in Google Pay, but I haven't checked it for a little while.
Using an APP for those airline tickets makes it easier. For example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ligi.passandroid can automatically increase the brightness when showing your ticket and then again restore your previous setting.
passandroid is kind of okay but a lot of airlines (all airlines?) make it pretty difficult to get a passbook file if you're not on an iphone
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.ligi.passandroid will do it. It also increases the brightness while it's open.
I use this for my concerts tickets, take a look
I don't think they are quite the same but I've used Pass Android
