If you're wondering what that Pokeball button is on the right side, it's PocketLock. Pressing it will just turn the screen black :)
Hi fellow Reddit-ers. We want to give you 100 promo codes for our new app Poke Lock . It has two applications:
A secondary screen lock that disables all touch and keeps the current app/ game that is running to remain active , and the GPS to be kept running. (Useful when you play Pokemon Go or any other game that has to run all the time).
Transparent mode lock screen which blocks all touch , and that is very useful when you watch YouTube or any other video player and don't have to worry about accidental taps or Home/Back/Recent button presses. People with toddlers / small kids will appreciate that functionality.
Get Poke Lock from Google Play link
Promo codes available here - just open from your Android device and click Redeem. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. If you like the app please rate it in Google Play. Thank you!
I use these two apps to help limit burn in:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pokemonlock.batterysaver.forpockemongo (this can be set up to work with any app not just Pokémon go)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmd.immersive ( immersive mode in any app/screen)
Back when Pokemon Go was super popular an APP called PokeLock/PocketLock was made that will psuedo-lock your phone and put it into a power saving mode but not truly lock your screen.
When I stopped playing Pokemon GO religiously I kept the app cause it has an option to switch which app activates it and I switched it from Pokemon GO to Youtube so that I could lock my screen and keep listening to my Youtube playlists while driving without it ceasing playback; also the power saving is nice.
Heres an alternative too.
I use the PocketLock App though its not downloadable from google, you can download it through APK.
Its basically the same, though instead of a sensor, theres a toggle which turns your screen off and 3 taps used to open it again.
The bad thing about PocketLock is, it is littered with ads but once you pay a dollar it works like a charm.
An alternative for this if you don't have a high end phone is Poke Lock. It says Pokemon GO but trust me, it works with ROM.

I don't know if there's an equivalent for iOS.
You can also download apps which effectively do the same thing. I use one called Poke Lock (was intednded for Pokemon Go) which simulates closing the phone. Useful for when you've downloaded a video from youtube using an app.
There's also some lock screen apps that help keep the screen on
I use PokeLock, and just the manual mode with transparent lock screen setting (keeps running and keeps screen on), but there might be better options out there
On Android, I use Poke Lock. Turns the screen off by tapping on a pokeball overlay icon, then double tap to wake again. Though I don't put my phone in my pocket so I'm not sure if it can be accidentally woken up. Works like a charm for me.

An Android app called PokeLock acts as PoGO's battery saver, but actually turns your screen Off (not just dim it) when you put phone in pocket, while keeping Pokemon GO running. It also locks touch input when not in pocket, so that you can safely hatch these eggs. Here it is: Google Play link - disclaimer: I am from the team who developed this battery saver tool.
No prob! Glad to help and for easy ref in the Play Store: Poke Lock
It‘s an app called Pokelock https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pokemonlock.batterysaver.forpockemongo
I use PocketLock aka Pokelock for Android. You double tap the screen to wake up.

I won a paid licence, but the free will work prefectly for you.
Here it is on the Android play store
PocketLock, it was made for PoGo but you can change it to work for YouTube instead
Re: Battery Draining issues
> Poke Lock turns screen Off when phone is in pocket, but keeps Pokemon GO alive and hatching eggs / detecting pokemons.
