Sorry I can't find it, but there was a story on here about someone in a similar position and the dog nearly bit them, hopefully someone else can link it as it had some good point in there in general.
Not trying to scare you.
Also make sure you have a contract EVEN with friends.
Do you have a local printer ??
If so get some of your pics you already have printed only 5x7 if they use same printer for big and small prints, as this will give you a good marker as to where your monitor is, to a calibrated printer, don't go down that rabbit hole to far as you never come back out lol it's complicated.
If you have your screen calibrated even better, but before I started printing my biggest problem was my pics would come out darker than on my screen but I was new and didn't take into account the monitor is backlit.
And I will add there user name but thanks to u/kev281
Here's one I have installed. Last updated 2013, so it's dated, but it's a simple app, what more do you need.

Best settings are purely subjective sorry, but as an idea F1.0-F2.5 above 1/160 shutter and iso as long as it's below around 800 you should be fine, take some test shots to double check,
If you have a zoom lens, then zoom into around 80mm to 130mm as it compresses the image (more flattering)
If you have a reflector this would be a great use, just remember don't put it under the face put it above the face, if you put it under it cast unatrual shadows .
A cheap reflector = white foam board from any crafts shop or some brilliant white card.
There is so much more but don't get to swamped down, Go to the location before or somewhere similar and play around with your settings,
Just remember to have fun, art is subjective don't be another cookie cutter cut out.
Also u/kev218 Shared a great app

I find Posing App really helpful when directing models.
