I use the Pro Metronome app for practice and live play. There's some in-app purchases but it's been worth it for the features.
It has a practice mode that allows you to set a tempo to move to after so much time/measures. It also has playlist capabilities so you can store your set list and tempos for quick look up later.
Here's what worked for me:
[Edit: Added step 3.]
'Pro Metronome' by EUM lab that does exactly this.

Apple: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pro-metronome-tempo-beat-subdivision-polyrhythm/id477960671?mt=8
I am not affiated with the developer, I just use the app myself. The free version is fine, no ads or anything.
I use this one https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eumlab.android.prometronome&hl=en - well, I use the iOS version. It has good features, allows different tones to be used, sub beat tones and more. May or may not work for you, but at least you can try the free version and only pay for the advanced features if you like it.
The only apps I use are:
Most of these apps are not bass centric, they can be used with any instrument - but these will help with more "generic" aspects of playing music and enable you to read tabs found online - a good tab will give you all the info you need to start working on learning songs.
Lastly, I recommend watching youtube tutorials or covers of songs you are trying to learn and pay attention to what is being done - how is the posture? where are the hands placed? muting strings with thumb? etc...
I use two apps. Pro metronome has increase in BPM every X bars.
Just discovered metronome composer that allows you to do cool stuff like change subdivision for 4 bars. I use it to practice jazz solos by setting the metronome to while notes for 8 bars, then quarters for 4 bars.
Pro Metronome is awesome. You can store a set list in it and it also has a practice mode you can adjust to increase the tempo every XX bars by X bpm for XX minutes. It has all the polyrythmic subdivisions you could want as well.

I'm not sure about a database but there are metronome apps that can help you find the beat. Here's a link to my favorite Pro Metronome
Lots of metronome apps can do that. I'm using this:

I saw people recommend Tonal Energy app, tuner and metronome with bunch of other stuffs.
Tonal Energy https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonosaurus.tonalenergytuner
It's available on apple store and Google play store.
I use this The free version is pretty basic but the paid version is pretty affordable and customizable. You can choose from a variety of click sounds (i've recognized some from a few DAW's including cubase and ableton) and i believe you can save multiple setlists.
Absolutely a metronome is the tool of choice. There are several apps available - I use ProMetronome which has a decent interface & can do different accented beats.
Another thing I do is jam out to YouTube video backing tracks It's helped my sense of timing and changes quite a bit, especially when I can't jam with other people. Just put in the style, the key, and pick a likely-looking track.
One thing I'd like to mention is that everyone - literally everyone was a beginner at one point. If they're friends, they probably (hopefully) aren't going to have any issues helping you improve your playing.
I love this metronome app: pro metronome
Not bad. It costs some cash to get most of the advance features, but it's still the most usable thing I've seen.

Easy to use and basic metronome

Looks like there is an android version too!

I bought a phone app
This is the metronome I've used for years https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eumlab.android.prometronome
I found this book a really good way to practice. Basically a daily 30 sec riff to practice. Covers a lot of genres and styles.
This metronome app for android is pretty decent too.
Marty Schwartz's youtube channel is really good for learn-a-song videos - usually uploads a new track every day or two and he's been doing it for quite a while now.
Ben Levin has a really good intro to music theory as well.

This is the metronome I use. The free version is more than enough and there are no invasive ads.
