I know there is a way for iOS. But unfortunately I don’t think there is currently a way to do this on Android.
However, I know for fact that multiple projects are working on making an android compatible mirroring system for Raspbian. One project is called MiracleCast based on the miracast protocol.
Edit: I found this app but it requires an SSH server be setup on your Raspberry Pi and it’s NOT Open Source, so use at your own risk. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.huber.raspicast
You gotta figure this out.
What changed recently?
Maybe you updated the pi and then it broke.
I'm intrigued by this as well. Googling gives many questions and worthless pr releases but very few answers.
One possible answer that I found was:

If you have an android, you can use raspicast to cast youtube videos to the pi directly. It's pretty easy to set up.
