Transmission has a web interface which can be accessed via a browser.
A quick search returns this, which looks like it uses the web interface too.
I'd say using something like the Transmission web interface together with Remote Transmission is more useful than this, since that will work even outside the "same network" limitation that KDE Connect has.
The one con of this solution is that Remote Transmission wasn't updated for 3 years and isn't really free software, but it's a way better solution otherwise. Still, it's cool to see it's even possible with KDE Connect.
Transmission has a windows phone app https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/transmission-client/9nblggh5nzrl.
Oh who am I kidding, you're not having a windows phone (sadly), so here's an android version https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neogb.rtac&hl=en
Well, transmission as service is a lot better than rtorrent. Not only it is one of best update torrent protocol clients and comes packed with tons more features, you also have tons of remote network clients for it which makes it accessible from any OS or device.
Like this one for android just as example https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neogb.rtac
I really wouldn't wait until rtorrent stops working. And service is really trivial to setup
That sounds like too much work imo.
On my PCs I use this chrome addon to do all the legwork. So whenever I click a magnet link or download a torrent, it automatically downloads the torrent on the NAS.
And then on my phone I use a remote for transmission. Any torrent file I download I just click to open and the app automatically loads it into the NAS and deletes the file. Magnet links work too.
With these, I never click more than twice to start a torrent
I'll look into KConnect, but it seems to rely on a lot of KDE stuff, and I'm a terminal+i3wm user, who is allergic to KDE deps. :)
In the sister post on linuxquestions (link in selftext), another user mentioned the Remote Transmission app. It interfaces with transmission-daemon
, which I already use. I'm going to set it up this evening. It looks very promising. Basically, associate torrent links on Android with that program, and then they're automatically added on desktop/server (wherever you're running transmission-daemon
).
If you prefer mobile phones, there is a Transmission app that can be used to control your seedbox (as long as its running transmission) or your home computer (again if using transmission). There's also Transdroid if your seedbox is using rTorrent.
Dunno if there are apple alternatives.
Remote Transmission & Transmission Daemon have always worked wonderfully for me!
On Windows, I use the Transmission Remote GUI.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/transgui/
On Android, I use Remote Transmission

If you're on Android, try Remote Transmission. It is a nice interface to use over the web.

> Versiunea DYI: o chestie precum Raspberry Pi + HDD extern. Are ăsta destulă putere de procesare pentru ce vreau eu?
This does not make a lot of sense to me...
"DNS Dynamic gratuit"
2) Am router ASUS care ofera hostname (asuscomm.com) gratuit
3) Poti folosi servicii gratuite (momentan doar http://www.noip.com/remote-access imi vine in minte) care au unele limitari, but they get the job done
Iar la Transmission ma conectez de pe telefon folosind https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neogb.rtac . Bineinteles ca e nevoie de hostname de mai sus si folosirea port forwarding pe router
Others have sent some good links, and there's good information on Transmission's project page. Here's one more that looks good, too. If you run into any issues, feel free to send me a PM if you need some help troubleshooting. I currently run a Transmission server (though on Ubuntu on an actual computer, not on a Pi) so I've been through a few of the setup errors.
If you do go with Transmission, there are some good remote UIs that go with it. This one for desktop is open source and cross-platform (Win/Lin/Mac), and this is the Android one that I like.
