It gets much worse - yesterday an app went on sale which is a touch macro tool. Now, the app itself has merit for productive things but the check out the linked WhatWouldJoshDew vid as part of the app's store page.
Seriously, What the fuck...

Their position is only good enough for switching page in ebook reader for me. But if you really want to, you could record the tap/swipe using Repetitouch, then tell Tasker so pushing the volume button when the particular game is active will trigger the gesture. Since both of them are paid-apps, personally if I spend that much, I'd add one of those case that double as gamepad.
On games that support gamepad (or just play one of the old PS2 game on emulator, you now basically have all great console games in your pocket) the Repetitouch-Tasker frankenstein isn't needed, on mobile games that don't support gamepad natively, you can now map shoulder button etc to swipe or whatever gesture you want.
I'm really liking RepetiTouch, though it requires a rooted device. It allows for recording and saving of multiple different tap scripts, and even has some editing functionality so you can join different scripts together or modify their timings.
There's an ad-supported version that's definitely best to test before forking out cash for the paid one.
