Sadly, no recourse.
This is why it is important to set a mobile data limit on your device. It is pretty easy on Android.
Also a good time to mention the RP Samara app, which you can use to monitor any RingPlus account/device and get alerts about usage: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nthcircle.rpdashboard&hl=en
Both of these steps are a must if you are setting up a device for someone else.
You can also download RP Samara from the play store. It's a free app that connects to the ringplus dashboard and gives you an accurate status on your minutes, test, & data.
you can save a little bit, by doing a top up before you switch plans.
If you have a balance of $5 or less, it will require you to add $15 (plus tax) when switching.
If you do the minimum top up first, it's $10 ($11 something with tax for me). You then qualify for switching to plans like (Avatar Upgrade) that require at least $5.01 balance.
If you don't want a monthly fee, choose Avatar Upgrade (not just regular Avatar). You then can add one of two data free upgrade options (I chose extra 250mb of data per month for a total of 750 mb of data a month). Don't add both free data upgrades, or it will get messed up and you might loose both.
You also get 275 cellular minutes (plus 500 VOIP0), 275 texts/mms. And can use the 775MB for tethering if you waht. Overages are a steep 10cents per minute/text/megabyte. You can use the free RP Samara Android app to alert you if you are getting close to your plan limits. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nthcircle.rpdashboard
