You'll want to get something like iShredder that overwrites the data- ordinary deletion simply gets rid of directory files, not the files themselves, which stay there until overwritten. I've used iShredder but there are plenty of similar apps on the play store.

Phlebitis?
Nixon's bbaaaaaaaccckkk!
Sorry.
This might give you some ideas:

Unfortunately, complete erasure with a phone may be difficult, since there's OS etc to deal with.
Multiple factory resets perhaps?
The only way to be sure is to physically destroy the device, after erasure.
Then there's the question of any cloud storage or backup.
I've used apps like this in the past before I sell my old phones... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectstar.ishredder.android.standard
You can get similar apps for windows and Mac. Basically fills your free space with data to overwrite the deleted data. However, if you're phone is encrypted, I think that's normally enough. I go above and beyond to make myself feel better.
Unfortunately, I don't know any certified software for mobile, but you could emulate their function as follow:
If you repeat this cycle 3-4 times It might be enough to clean your smartphone. You have to perform this cycle because the wipe data feature included in the smartphones might not be enough to clean the slack space.
If you want to add more steps you could opt to download a couple of apps like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.projectstar.ishredder.android.standard, launch them to wipe your data and then perform a wipe data and factory reset from the recovery mode.
The aim of these process is to overwrite all the possible slack spaces, in order to make quite impossible to recover your previous data.
I'm not exactly sure if that's possible with a phone (without root; with root, you could use dd if=/dev/zero of=/sdcard/junk.bin). You can try an app like iShredder, but I'm pretty sure that you would have to have the file there for it to be able to securely delete it.
Wiping the free disk space (aka zeroing it out, because you're writing zeros over the free space) is particularly difficult on flash storage devices because it's limited by the floating gate slowly accumulates electrons, causing a gradual increase in the storage transistor’s threshold voltage which manifests (in its most observable form) as increased programming time and, eventually, an inability to erase the cell.
Your best bet is to encrypt your phone and then perform a factory reset.
Use iShredded to securely delete files and then use overwrite freespace option.
Vou testar.
