Settle Up does this. In-app purchase is mostly to remove ads.

Other non-banking option is to use app that track and split your purchases such as Settle Up.
It will show the balance at the end who's ahead in paying and no need to deal with the hassle of opening extra bank account
I use Settle Up

The reason for using it is that it allows for unequal spend, something I have not found with any other app.
It is however pretty basic.
We just have an app at work (you can use Settle Up or Splitwise) that we use to track amounts owed.
You can still see a very clear pattern of people who regularly ask for money and rarely pay back, but at least it's written down so that you can either refuse to give them more money, or go to them and ask them to pay you back. The way the apps work is also that they "recount" the money in an optimal way as to not have you pay back 10 people separately but just one who's owed the most (for example).
So that when A borrows from B and C borrows from A, C has to pay just B to clear the amounts owed. Pretty nifty and convenient.
I suggest using Settle Up. It solved the money issue for me.
For specifics, >I provide food >
Divide expenses, it's not like they don't eat when they don't play. They would also have to spend that money anyways.
>if people need a ride to the game I pick the up >
Explain your new economic situation and stop doing it or divide the costs, any sensible person would understand.
>I pay for the module I'm running and any other materials I need >
That's on you to decide and evaluate based on your new economic situation. You can explain it and decide what you want to do. However I have to point out that there's a lot of quality free content online. In any case, send me a PM.
>I've even been known to give new players a dice set. >
Stop. I imagine you have enough dice to lend to anyone so just do that. It's what everyone else does with new players.
>I feel a bit like, with the amount of money I've spent on past games, it would be fair if I ask my players if they could help out with food, gas, >
Even without that it would be fair.
>and possibly modules (although I can make-do without new modules if I have to). >
Offer that option and discuss it as a group what is best for everyone.
>part of me still feels like it's my game, and my responsibility. >
It's not either your game nor your responsibility.
>I'd feel awkward because there's a pretty substantial income disparity among my players. >
That can be hard. I've had that situation. The best you can do is explain your new situation and work out each specific detail as best as you can. If your players are sensitive and reasonable people, they'll understand and you will find a solution.
>Above all, I don't want anyone to think that I'm trying to turn GMing into a job or turn a profit off of it. >
You are doing things for free that not even paid GMs do for money.
>So far my best solutions are asking people to bring food like a potluck, possibly asking players to provide rides for each other, and (maybe) setting a rule that whoever wants to play a particular type of module has to get the pdf for it. >
Perfectly reasonable. I suggested some options, but do what works best for you.
>But, I feel like an asshole even asking that much. >
If you don't, you're being an asshole to yourself.
Hope everything works out. As it was similarly already mentioned, RPGs are the cheapest hobby I can think of. Your "problems" are perfectly solvable. Good luck!
I use Settle Up.
