I'm reminded of an apocryphal Einstein story my college physics advisor told me me. It went some thing like,
>One day Albert Einstein is sitting in his office and another physicist stops in to discuss a research idea. Eventually it gets late, and the other physicist asks Einstein for his home telephone number so they can go home but then continue the conversation from home.
>Einstein says absolutely, and pulls the telephone book off his shelf, and thumbs through to his own listing. Shocked, the other physicist says, "Albert, you don't know your own telephone number?"
>To which Einstein replies, "Why should I memorize that which I can so easily look up?
Nobody remembers most telephone numbers any more. That's what our cellphone contacts lists are for. I know in physics grad school, I had a pretty sense for WHEN I should be thinking of doing a trig substitution on an integral, but I didn't know any of them off the top of my head.
P.S. If you're on Android, I like using the Smooth Calendar widget. I set it to show my next five calendar events. I also use all-day events as to-do or reminder entries. I've basically just offloaded that aspect of my memory onto my phone. I use my phone a lot throughout the day regardless so I'm basically guaranteed to see the event listed on Smooth Calendar a bunch of times leading up to the event.
I use 'smooth calendar'. Been using it for years... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.catharsis.android.calendar
I'm very interested in this question as well as I always keep a calendar widget on my main launcher page at all times. Android 4.0-4.4 had lock screen widgets but your Android version doesn't have that unless Asus added it somehow. Now, I have used in the past Smooth Calendar which puts a calendar notification in your notification shade at all times. But with my notification OCD, I eventually didn't like it always taking up notification space...
You could always try a lockscreen replacement that may add widgets back but they usually don't work the best. Some suggests would be Smart Lock Screen or Solo Locker
I like to use smooth calender and it can use multiple calenders and also multiple apps lightweight and functional. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=se.catharsis.android.calendar
