Where are some great go-to places for Android Wear? Released a game recently for free and wanna know of any go-to places people have seen.
Here are the games I have:
Papercraft, now this one was recommended to me by a fellow redditor and have yet to test it for myself.
Mini post mortem of completing first game
I know its a bit weird to do a mini post-mortem in this thread but. Well a year ago I started spamming around places about a game idea of mine called "Spin then Slide" but it faded away since I became busy and the idea wasn't solid. I feel as though I should give an update now I released it, but i don't feel substantial or qualified enough to talk at length and give it it's own thread. Here it is, my first game.
I ended up restarting the project about 2 years later, there was a reason though. From all the feedback I got from here and elsewhere, people said it sounded and looked weird, barebones etc, needed too many permissions, was too simple. 2 years later it clicked in my head to release the damn thing on Android Wear instead to fix all these issues, and I had the time to do it.
My thank yous to here
So, I just wanted to say thank you to all the people that played a game from someone who didn't seem like they were going to stick around much longer and/or use their feedback. The people that were in those threads were super helpful and a major help for a project that taught me a ton
My random recommentations
The Android Wear platform is a fantastic place for new programming focused game developers. It focuses on Opengl es and Java, and due to the platform you'll be forced to keep your game simple (which I also reckon is a good idea for new devs). I also learnt a ton about multithreading due to how android works.
Another thing I recommended, use source control. Get git extensions and chuck your project in a git repo, the amount of time I saved by looking at different commits to diagnose bugs was phenomenal.
Last thing is to read programming books, I read "Pragmatic programmer" and "Clean Code" during this, and their ideas are those I would even continue on for Unreal and Unitys' graphic programming.
Also a warning, google requires paid games to have a public business address. This is what stopped me from making my game paid, but i'm happy with the whole 'journey' thing.
