There are bunch of moralists right here (study, don't copy, don't cheat xdxd) but I don't care. I can tell you that yes, it's worth it if you also buy this browser for Android Wear on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appfour.wearbrowser It's very good and stable, it also has a keyboard, so you can write and search whatever you want.
There are other apps of the same developer that let you see photos, documents like PDF, DOCX, DOC etc...
So yes, for how you want to use it, it's worth if you have money to spend, because it's not that inexpensive.
There is a app actually let me find it for you.
EDIT:
From Amazon, made by Kartice. I didn't want to appear like I was promoting them, so I didn't post a link right away.
Here you go: https://www.amazon.com/Kartice-ZenWatch-Replacement-Watchband-brown-14mm/dp/B013BVTM3U/
You can find them in other countries' Amazon, too. Just search for "kartice zenwatch 3". I ordered mine from Amazon Germany.
Android Wear doesn't have notification sounds. You can use Feel the Wear to add notification sound to an app if you want to.
I enjoyed usingKrona Sunlight but currently I'm using Timr which is a nice simple watch face that has everything I need.
The main launcher is kind of slow to use, I use bubble launcher so that I can swipe from the left and have access to commonly used apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dyna.logix.bookmarkbubbles
Found this one in my Amazon wishlist, I think I saved it when I saw someone mod it to fit the ZW3... Seems pretty nice, probably not light if their claim of solid links (rather than stamped) is true but still, it's got sort of a unique simplistic design that I think goes well w/the ZW3
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GRI4QDA/
For $29 I might try it once SteelConnect's adapter ships out. I like that it's made for QRs too, and I've never worn one with that kinda hidden clasp before. It was actually $40 thru much of last year according to Camelcamel.
My only worry would be the color matching/clashing, specially if SteelConnect doesn't nail theirs... One color transition from watch to adapter wouldn't be bad, but two from watch to adapter to band might look odd (and the ZW3's lugs already stand out as it is).
Edit: Damn Amazon's combined listings, had to edit the link 3x until it pointed at the right one.
I recently got one off Amazon since my cat ate through the original and I'm not impressed. I haven't gotten a full charge and am orderring a different one and adding this one back.
Asus Zenwatch 3 Charger (3ft/1m), Kissmart Replacement Charger Charging Cradle Dock for Asus Zenwatch 3rd WI503Q Smart Watch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WWBQLM6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_taa_9qtBzbVR9XETR
Sometime I think this happens when it is trying to connect to the phone transmitting some sort of information that get stuck or updates. What watchface are you using?
Try recync apps (in android wear on phone) Try updating all apps and remove apps you don't use (in play on watch) Finally if all else fails reset watch. Fortunately the watch is easy to reset, usually.
Here is mine I am using a watchface from the appstore that has been really stable. I usually make it home at 7:30 (13.5 hours) with 30-40% left these days. I do have ok google disabled and no wifi. Watchmaker, Facer and the like were far less predictable for battery usage than I liked so I stopped using them for now (until I want to make a face again).
For that, I recommend Wear Battery Full. You install it on the phone and watch, and it lets you monitor the charging battery from your phone. To the point, it will notify you if it stops charging ("Not this time, sucker"). And if you leave it alone for a few minutes, a quick glance at your phone's notifications will tell you the level, so you'll know if the watch is charging fast or slow. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zenbarrier.wearfull Still, I'd like to know when I walk away from my charger that it's doing the right thing, hence my original post.
Autowear (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autowear) is a tasker plugin that also enables you to run a limited subset of tasker's functionality on the watch itself without it being connected to your phone.
I don't think you need tasker, but it's highly recommended. For one, saving the settings in tasker instead of the Autowear app allows you to switch watches without having to recreate everything. Both tasker and autowear aren't free, but both are well worth their money if you want to automate your devices.
If you're interested you can import this xml task into tasker and run it to setup enabling/disabling wifi/bluetooth on power connect/disconnect: https://gist.github.com/tuur29/8146317edf5b0eb83d73f1af97aa5d48
With any android watch I would recommend downloading the free task manager for android wear. It is a must have. I've used it on my Asus and my Huawei smart watches. If you notice after some time that your battery is depleting faster than usual. Fire up task manager on your watch and you will see the apps running in the background. You can kill them, your android system apps will come right back up and you will see your battery go back to normal drain. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager
I would highly suggest Wear Charging Widget as it allows for an always on screen and even shifts the pixels every few seconds to prevent burn-ins. I've been using it for the past weeks and have yet to see any problems come from it.
As the guy before me has previously mentioned only apps that have Android Wear support will have an app on the watch. The best way to know is to look for the watch symbol on an app's description page.
Now as for Twitter there is an unofficial app for Android Wear called Looking for Twitter.
Edit: Mail for Android Wear is a nice version of Gmail for Android Wear. I also recommend to look at the other apps by that dev since they are also very good.
The Gmail app will not be in the app list. It's only function in wear is a card will pop up when you receive a new email and allows you to dismiss or reply (using voice). More info here. I had a quick look and found this app that allows you to view your inbox. I have never used the app so I am not sure how well it works.
Hope that helps
Ok, I believe I have it fixed. I uninstalled the latest Android Wear and I downloaded Android Wear 2.0.0.163484626.gms Incoming calls all worked and the delay is very little!! I downloaded this from the APKPURE: Just scroll down to previous versions: https://apkpure.com/android-wear-smartwatch/com.google.android.wearable.app
So sorry for the delay! I followed this guide: https://lifehacker.com/how-to-install-and-make-custom-android-wear-watch-faces-1774567658 and got up the point where I need to open a CMD window in Windows 10. The command will not recognize the watch even with developer mode enabled.
Mine has done the opposite. I switched to a face off the play store and after 3 days on it with a little better than usual my 16-18 hours est (was getting home after 12 hours with 20-30%) using watchmaker and ASUS faces its doubled. Now today I am at 50% after 12 hours. I even noticed the music controls on by accident and the reply to a mms in messenger was accidentally left on for a while, but other than that only a couple of responses to texts. This turn around was out of the blue, but I noticed apps are not in the battery list like usual. I have not reset it or anything, just changed faces go Guard (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.watch.richface.guard)
I made the mistake of purchasing one from Ebay it works but the magnet is weak and you have to play with it. I purchased another from Amazon and its as good as the original one that came with the watch! This one looks good, Amazon reviewers check out ok: https://www.amazon.com/Zenwatch-E-fashion-Portable-Replacement-Zenwatch2/dp/B01MA5930J/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502632859&sr=8-2&keywords=asus+zenwatch+2+charging+cable
It does, I bought it on Amazon for like $9 (it's up under a few different sellers/listings), nothing special but a decent backup... Asus' rubber band is nicer but like $25 or 30 and seemingly always out of stock at the one online shop that carries it (B&H, tho I haven't checked lately, my backorder took over a month to be fulfilled FWIW).
At this point I'd get something like the Casio as a holdover until the SteelConnect adapters for the ZW3 go on sale next month, then you'll be able to use any standard 22mm band. Edit: actually the Karticle band mentioned below looks like a good bet too and not much more expensive than the a Casio...
Where were they months ago when everyone here was clamoring for bands?
https://www.reddit.com/r/zenwatch/comments/6ngpy3/kartice_zenwatch_3_watch_band/
https://www.amazon.com/Kartice-ZenWatch-Replacement-Watchband-brown-14mm/dp/B013BVTM3U/
Someone posted this Kartice one in a different thread..
If you liked the 360 charging stand you might like this one:
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2099168
Or there's also this kind of design:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M4RP0X1/
I've had the latter for a bit and actually just received the former yesterday, but I haven't even opened it. I have a feeling I'll like it better but can confirm later.
I won't lie, I apparently chose hard mode in grinding this strap down. Took about an hour and a half with a dremel.
I got the Vetoo 3-pack because I don't like the "Barton" imprint on their bands.
Vetoo 22mm Silicone Watch Bands, Silky Soft Quick Release Rubber Straps for Men & Women, Black/Dark Gray/Orange, Pack of 3 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3Y94FG
I just swapped out the stock silicone band for a Barton Leather band. I find it much more comfortable. https://www.amazon.com/BARTON-Quick-Release-Grain-Leather/dp/B01KD8JT2S
I now have to constantly think about water when washing my hands, doing dishes, giving the kids a bath. And, when summer arrives and the temps soar, I might switch back to the silicone band.
I bought one in the early days on Amazon
'okay'ish price, including shipping--received it pretty quickly. I use it every day, and like it. Slightly different setup than the freebie one also posted in this comment thread... not sure how much it costs to print something.
Dremel: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BAHF64/ref=cm_sw_r_fm_apa_DdOMyb5SF8EM1
I used the cutting attachment and it was very easy.
Pin set: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CFVUASS/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_bfOMybXEFV2KG
This is my first Smart Watch so I can't compare it to the others. But, it does feel very sturdy and well built to start with. The ability to put standard watch bands on it as well was a big plus for me. I replaced the leather strap with a Steel mesh one from Amazon. . It goes quite well with the gunmetal color on the ZW2.
The watch has speaker support which allows you to use it sort of like a speaker phone to talk to someone if you should desire. I have streamed music to it, used it for phone calls, and a few more things with Autowear and Tasker.
Overall, the watch is very good, it does have shortcomings though - on a sunny day outdoors, you will have trouble reading the display, this can be somewhat solved by turning the brightness to max, but be ready for that.
It is not round, which does limit somewhat the selection of watch faces. However, you can use almost any watch face out there including round ones and it will display it without problems.
Overall, I have been quite happy with the watch, I have excellent battery life and am not afraid to submerse it in water when I am washing my hands or the occasional reaching into sink of clean water to pull a plug. It has limited water resistance. I have not pushed it so far as to wear it in the shower or have it wet for more than a few seconds at a time.
For those looking for more band alternatives, I got this rubber link band installed yesterday: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HZBOWM You can remove the end links, and the narrower connector will fit into the ZW3 without modifications (though it's awfully tight).
Here is a zenwatch 3 stand, I got mine about 3 days ago and it's fantastic.. You can find it on amazon.com here: https://www.amazon.com/ZenWatch-Artifex-ZenWatch3-Technology-Smartwatch/dp/B01M4RP0X1/ref=sr_1_5?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1480382653&sr=1-5&keywords=zenwatch+3
Also as far as charging goes, I have found that using a usb extension cable will slow down the charging ALOT (over 2 hours) unless you use a very good high quality usb male to female extension cable.
The usb charging cable which comes with the watch is way way too short!
When I first connected the zenwatch 3 usb charging cable to the ac charger using a usb male to female extension cable which evidently was of poor quality it took 3 hours to get a full charge from 1-2 % but as soon as I purchased a usb male to female extension cable of high quality the watch charged from 1-2% to full charge in less than an hour exactly the same high speed as if I was not using a extension cable.
I almost sent the watch back to BH Photo for a replacement, I thought it was defective.....
Good luck, Have a great day!

thats what i wound up getting, came with tool. adjustable and once you understand how it works it seems like it'll be decent. the reviews can't be trusted tho, i was expecting it to be magnetic when it showed up and it's not. quick release was nice, but i'd rather a watchband that isn't made for AIDS patients
Got it on amazon here. Looks to be a blackish one as well if that's more of what you're looking for. Mine came with the bonus pins but not the tool (getting in touch with buyer to see why that was).
I was able to install it fine cuz the original band had the quick release, but in the future will probably need the tool to remove this band.
It's quite comfy and wasn't hard to remove some links with a paperclip/hammer to get the sizing right.
I'm not at my apartment but I have two of these. I'll have to find them when I get back on monday
I just ordered one of the 3d printed adapters for the endless amount of Apple Watch stands available. Like this one: http://www.amazon.com/ZenWatch-Watch-Stand-Adapter-Apple/dp/B016ZHO7FK
Then I bought a watch stand that also housed my phone as well.
Hi KissmePinky. Thought you'd like to see the band I have.
My clockwork synergy 22mm nato band: http://imgur.com/a/bDmHM I had a hard-ish time removing the spring pin from the stock band...kind of poked it out of the hole in the band.
Source: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005OYI8PQ/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_bbcdxb1ZVJRG3
Well this is the one I got and I really, really like it. BestBuy in Canada sold the Gunmetal ZW2 with the "buckle thingy". same as your second link. I didn't like it. My link is for Amazon.ca but they do have it in Amazon.com as well. The band looks really classy and it actually makes the watch itself look smaller on my pathetic wrist!!
I only bought a screen protector. I didn't on another watch (a Pebble Time I returned) and regretted it (got scratched up). I get paint on the screen protector a lot from hitting it on walls by mistake. The paint just rubs off with a Q-Tip with hand sanitizer on it. I would buy this (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/zagg-hd-screen-protector-for-asus-zenwatch-smart-watches-clear/2927273.p?id=1219563658293&skuId=2927273) screen protector. It is expensive but you can't see it on the watch and your finger doesn't stick to it (good for swiping cards). I bought a cheap pack on Amazon (Don't Buy: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015EO2XGA?keywords=asus%20zenwatch%202%20screen%20protector%2049mm&qid=1455666473&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2) and it made the watch look "greasy". The stainless steel on the side of my watch still looks good on mine. Note: Watch is only a around 1 1/2 weeks old.
It doesn't look like the link works, goes straight to the Ebay home page.
I recently purchased this Milanese Magnetic Band from Amazon and I love it
ZenWatch Manager Illusion Watchface with the phone battery, watch battery and weather indicators.
I use the android messenger app for my texts, with it you will not only receive texts but also MMS texts and pictures. I could not find another app that would allow me to receive MMS pictures on my watch.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging
Because it's not an app. There isBubble Cloud Launcher that allows you to have your own customizable launcher with an app to open the voice interface.
I am confident that I have finally found the universal solution. I checked my Watch Fit apk version using Advanced settings app from here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sssemil.advancedsettings
Found that wear fit apk version was much lower than what version phone had. Grabbed latest wear fit apk from here. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-fit-fitness-tracking-android-wear/google-fit-fitness-tracking-android-wear-1-63-09-release/google-fit-fitness-tracking-1-63-09-200-android-apk-download/
Connected watch via ADB and installed manually using this command
adb install -r googleFit.apk
Voila! Everything showed up on watch instantly. Even history of days I didn't have phone fit app installed.
Do you use the free task manager? Maybe an app running on your watch that is affecting your Bluetooth connection? Try it, you will be able to see what apps are running on your watch and kill them. The android system apps (blue ones) will come back up. LMK if it works for you...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.weartaskmanager
Gas Buddy (app to find lowest price auto fuel around you - horrible on battery)
You can custom make your watch face from the ground up and set the ambient and active watch faces to your liking.
This is my ambient watchface: http://i.imgur.com/hEXs3YC.png
Thank you for your offer, but currently I have all the testers I needed. The app seems to work reliably. If you want to try, please purchase it in the Play Store. It will stay to be the lowest price possible. And if you have any problems I am always available to help.
Hi, I've been trying to find if it has a compass or not, but it's not very documented.
Have you tried a watch face with compass or an app like this one (below)? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.runar.wearcompass
Apps installed on phone that has Wear support will always sync to your watch. However, it is possible to hide it with 3rd party launcher on watch such as Wear Mini Launcher.
Ah, I had the same issue, also have my files on my phone SD card.
However, in the meantime I have found another music player that works wonders for me, it's called WearMedia https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=qubin.de.wearmedia
I actually really like it now
I don't know of any app that can stream to the watch. I use this to transfer music to the watch, you can also change the ringtone with this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=qubin.de.wearmedia
Thanks for the response. I found a pretty good video to show a time lapse of the burn in protection. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB5oXzScHm4
Basically the image shifts a few pixels every time the minute changes. I see what you mean about a large square.
I have settled on the Jelly Time watch face from this collection. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nickschwab.android.wear.simplefaces
It is super simple, and has great battery life, and the burn in protection seems to be working correctly.
